I love Star Wars and sci-fi games in general. I play this game because I want to be a Jedi and/or shoot lasers and/or fly spaceships. It has nothing to do with other people. How can this be something that didn't occur to you, OP?
The reason "laughing with guildies" is not fun is because guilds are not fun. You want me to SCHEDULE a regular time to "play"? That is not play, that is WORK. Besides, from what I've seen in mmo's, there is no laughing involved, there is constant bickering about who made the single mistake that killed everybody. And messing around in general chat is your kind of thing, go to a chatroom website for goodness sake.
For your specific example, Skyrim was a blast... for a week. It has no replayability. You go into one cave, you've gone into them all. Meanwhile, do you know how long I'll spend getting 8-12 characters to 50? A loooong time.
