  1. Focus wasn't good in pve and many/most guardians/sents had stopped using it in pvp.
  2. Angral: "Submit to the emperor!" (paraphrased) Kira: "I'd rather jump out an airlock naked." That was probably my favorite Kira moment for several reasons.
  3. 8 sorcs and sins is just about the best team for most wzs right now. 8 sorcs alone could be fairly scary but sins add free guard/taunts, stealth and extra ccs. The pvp game is not balanced except, generally, vs target dummies.
  4. Someone has to be able to hit the hardest, pop the biggest numbers, etc.. That, in and of itself, does not make that class OP'd. Snipers have lots of CC that the rage marauder doesn't.
  5. For every leap that jedi/sith get, many classes have aoe kbs and/or roots and/or stuns and/or sprints and/or vanish (some have most of those things I listed others just have a few). Snipers can't be charged when they are in cover: maybe you want to play one of those. I personally don't like being dependent on charges - they're silly, mario brothers crap. But they aren't OP'd in this game in the least.
  6. I have run those two instances a lot (on a 50 farming for the gear for my guardian) and have only ever found the three you mentioned.

  9. Rage/Focus was not FOTM since launch - it took most people a month or two to figure out it was the best guardian dps spec. And then most people figured out that Watchmen was better than everything a month or two after that. Vigilance was solid as of 1.2 and watchman got nerfed a bit. Then in 1.3 it was combat for sentinels and guardians in pvp were mostly tank hybrid ball carriers, guards and aoe slowers (focus was too much of an easily nullified glass cannon). Pure focus guardians became rare and a bit of a joke. Now in 1.4 people can play guardian dps again and be viable (in pve too) which is what most people wanted in the first place: dps guardians, the iconic class of this game, are getting taken off their shelves, dusted off and are being used again. And they're doing a lot of damage. But there are still plenty of other classes/specs that will wipe the floor with pure rage/focus specs in 1v1 fights. I don't see the focus/rage trend lasting; I am seeing a lot more operatives and deception sins running around on POT5. I do agree that the upper vigilance tree probably needs some love.

Bioware changing peoples hard stuns to 10M is the only good thing they have ever done for pvp. >> Not all stuns are 4 seconds (force stasis and choke are normally 3 secs, knockdown abilities are 1.5, shield breaks are 2 or 3 secs, etc). I've tried numerous things, like bubble, vanish, guarded by the force, etc... when I'm on my face I can't do anything but take damage or use my cc break. It's a stun. And yeah, I love it when stealthers mez me 2x while I'm guarding.

But the GTN, world pvp, Rated WZs, Group Finder (especially for non-50s) and general "chatter" are not good compared to POT5. I've got a 50 and a couple others on POT5 (lvl 10 legacy vs 48 legacy on JM) and the game is night-vs-day different. You aren't stuck playing only near prime time on POT5 either.

Ops, Deception sins, Jugg tanks... stuns are their bread and butter. Stuns are the best way to stop an enemy from mezzing/vanishing/speed-bursting away from you if you're a melee. If you've got them and they're on 30 sec or 1 min cooldowns you should definitely not save them for a rainy day.

  15. In lots of games other than SWTOR one side can take a knee, fold a hand they can't win, concede, tap their king, whatever. If I'm in a losing wz and I know it's going to be, at best, frustrating to try to continue, I'd rather not stick around to get the comms/medals. I would rather get out of there so I can requeue into a game I can have fun with. I like comms, but getting comms is a distant 3rd in my reasons for q'ing. Note that for me, I will stay if most on my team are trying. But if we have a situation like one where there's 3+ on our one node in CW and there's only 1-3 of us actually attacking an enemy node (and we're not all attacking the same one but if we did the enemy would quicky have 5+ to defend with), I'm out of there. But barking out orders, right or wrong, in a pug is going to get you mixed results at best. Don't make your fun dependent on them doing what you tell them to.
  16. It's true this game has a lot more cc than any other I've played (other than maybe WAR - but I didn't get too far in that one). Pre 50 games are usually a little better becaue not everyone has/uses all of their CC to full effect. But at 50 and especially in rwz games, the fun can just fall apart vs decent teams (even/especially for juggs).
  17. It's actually easier to grind out a very good pvp set than it is in any other game I've played. What other non-Korean MMOs with PVP have you played?

The burden of proof is on the accuser and all I've seen are irrelevant anecdotes and whines. On my servers (Fatman and Jung Ma), even with their super survival and unbeatable dps, sents and maras do not consistently top wzs in damage, objectives, solo kills or whatever. Sometimes they do, but more often that not is another class. And they absolutely die just as much as any other class does (some more than others). They are better than most classes in 1v1 but that advantage evaporates in 3v3, 4v4 or 8v8 (and they certainly aren't unbeatable in 1v1). Sure some players are better than others. In a Nova a few days ago I saw this awesome Ops guy get 7 solo kills and topped damage by 100k over anyone else in the wz (including my wh sentinel). I've run into him a few times and he always does very well. Nerf Ops? This whole "nerf sent/mara" sentiment (necro) is a pile of bs. The OP was whining about one guy that could probably just as easily top damage with a jugg, sorc, sniper, ops or powertech - he just happened to like the mara.
  19. In the immediate future it may suffer greatly (they could probably easily do more server mergers now) but f2p will probably kick it back to life. This game is better than LOTR was - it has more quests, more class quests, you can play both sides and it has pvp. LOTR had better art choices/directions and comparable lore but that was all. It also had less competition and less finnicky players.

  21. 1) Remove much of the CC - make it pve only (JK/SW aoe mezzes, for example, should be pve only - most of the mezzes should be, aoe knockbacks need to pve only as well - give classes with aoe knockbacks single target knockbacks for pvp but on longer timers). 2) x-Server wzs with choices of which ones to queue or not queue for after daily is done. 3) Give my sentinel access to the marauder legacy set.

  23. Yea, Maras are actually fairly gimp, but SENTINELs are way OP'd - no denying it.
  24. I don't care about the art -style- much: I hated most of Wow's models but stayed with that for many years. Heck I've been playing this for 7 mos and don't care at all for most of the costumes that Jedi are stuck with nor do I like the terrains/environment textures (prefer Wow's by a lot). I will be playing GW2 on saturday but won't be unsubbing from this unless GW2 hits a home run. "No healers" and less CC sounds great but I could poke holes in their bg/wz and world pvp ideas. I'll see how it goes.
  25. There's no game that's going to make everyone happy. The more BW tries to make people like the op happy, the more they may damage the game for others. If they suddenly made WH free, for ex, without doing anything else, that would piss off those that "earned" it and otherwise wreck this particular game. If the OP really wants to be happy playing pvp in this game (I've heard no real evidence of that) than he should adjust his expectations and his perspective a little and maybe learn to plan ahead and/or think outside the box a little. That can be "painful" - many worthwhile changes are, btw - but I see no other way.
