  1. I need to see a combat log. It would tell us how fast you dropped and what you were doing and if the mara was really the only one hitting you. It sounds like bs but it's possible if you sat on top of each other and let him focus bomb you twice.
  2. I don't want to be dependent on having 7 good friends available every time I want to pvp. Also, I'm not too interested in getting rolled by those that only play with a full gang to back them up. On my server there's a pool of about 50 regular players on each side in the level 50 range. Changing the q button to say 'rated' and adding new measuring stats isn't going to change who I fight, how I fight or what I do when I play this game. It will be nice to have bragging rights but is not a make or break feature - most of those thinking otherwise are probably deluded.
  3. I gave up playing my guardian. I'll do dailies with him for cash but I'm tougher and meaner on my sentinel even though they're both full bm+. I'm not sure the guardian class is fixable at this point. Sure they can guard/taunt but the other two classes that can do those things have many more effective tools.

But WAR and AoC both had more pvp content at release even though both games were much messier than SWTOR. I liked 1.2's changes. The only thing I still don't like in pvp is the amount of CC in this game. Getting knocked back and snared/rooted multiple times in any 30-second window of melee fighting is not fun. And when I lose a fight vs 3+ I like to go down fighting and doing some damage, not standing there wiggling while people shoot me with flame throwers. It really was a mistake to release such an unbalanced game; balance changes in a live game almost always cause pain and create negative waves (lost customers, pro/troll complainers with a plan, etc) no matter how correct they may have been.
  5. The people that don't think that the healer nerf was needed are laughable. Good healers with gear are still op'd but now it's much less obvious. I especially like hearing sages complain that they don't have enough cc. Healers complaining that they can't beat dps 1v1? Almost as good as an episode of Benny Hill.
  6. It is funny how many responded to this thread without reading the op. I knew it was a joke by the title but some of the balance suggestions are very entertaining.
  7. PvP: Brand new gear including expertise changes and starter gear. Tattooine event. New wz. Some balance changes. I'm also sure that they're kicking themselves over the rated wzs mess at least as hard as posters have. You can't accurately or fairly say they're ignoring pvp.

There's no 1v2 mara winning in 5 secs (which was the post/point I was responding to). If you want to know how to 1v1 a mara for whatever your class is, create a thread and ask. Bear in mind you might get a lot of "it's not a 1v1 game" responses which is the line that many guardians and sentinels were getting fed a couple months ago when heals were op'd and most people didn't know how to play/spec them.

  10. These boards were full of "Healing Is Fine" posters. Saying that bw nerfed healing solely in response to posts here is innaccurate. I was one that occasionally posted anti-healing comments and i was almost always outnumbered. In spite of lots of sore and bitter posts here I haven't seen evidence that BW is going the route of nerf-by-forum-sentiment. The OP isn't pretty but I agree with almost all of it.
  11. I've got a BM geared guardian and a BM geared sentinel (about to get wh mh). If I want to play focus I absolutely will do it on my sentinel - they get zen and a better focus gen tool and better def cooldowns. I know of only one (fairly awesome) guardian on my server that can consistently outdps my guardian and he isn't focus.

  13. And most ppl that attack people on one side of an argument without addressing their points in context (and instead create exaggerated straw man versions) almost always know they're wrong even if they're trying to convince themselves otherwise.
  14. If they had taken out the lightsabres and the sage/sorc classes and called the game Farscape or Firefly I would still probably be playing. But this is definitely my last trinity mmo.
  15. I've been in and played against plenty of sent/mara teams that lost badly in pre50 and lvl50 games. People really want to play light sabre melee and that isn't because they are op.
  16. Maras cannot wreck two ppl in 5 seconds in any wz. Use a kb w/ root on an undying mara and by the time he gets back to you he'll have half-health and be just as squishy as anyone.

Aside from sent/mara (which have a short duration), there's also bubbles and emergency heals and cloaks and guard/taunts and combinations of all of those. <10% means you should be hitting them and you will kill them eventually but it's not necessarily an easy kill vs any enemy.

If it's 1v1 a healer or a shadow can hold their objective for far longer than a sentinel can (try to cap a turret in under 45 secs with a shadow/sin spamming "sap"). Or mez/snare/stun them and take your objectives anyways. Sents are laughable ball carriers. Basically, "so what"? This thread is pointless but it's a good illustration of the "grass is greener" principle.

  20. To the OP: Why create a brand new thread to rehash arguments that have been made and shot down several times already? If you can't be bothered to read those what makes you think your opinion is informed/accurate or that this thread, when buried, will mean anything at all since people like you won't know or acknowledge that it ever existed?
  21. If you completely removed expertise and pvp gear and let us get pve tokens for top-rated gear doing nothing but pvp that would be ideal. Since I suspect pve raiders (and probably some devs) would have a cow if that happened, I am going to say that expertise is needed.
  22. What's your proof that sents/maras need a nerf? All I see is prior fotms whining that they can die now. In lvl 50 pvp I don't see sents doing anything special on the meters or objectives.
  23. AOE Knockback - you can do a lot of these - very handy on a platform/ledge in Huttball. You can do more of these than any mara can do ravage. Stun Lift/Stun Slow Sprint - again a low cooldown - it breaks snares last time I played my sage Bubble AoE mez Ranged interrupt Solid heals (but channeled) - use your stun/lift first I'm sure I'm forgetting something. All of these work well against maras with 12k or 20k health. There are a couple end-game dps sages on my server and they have no problem topping damage over sents while doing more heals(bubble mostly), taking less damage and getting fewer deaths than any melee that doesn't have pocket heals. L2P Maras in full wh gear are scary but so are sages. If you're quaking in fear from looking at an xls sheet or someone's health total you need to stick to pve. The main diff between pre 1.2 and post is that you are no longer almost forced to play a jc/trooper to be optimal - i think given a choice most would pick one featured in the movies over most others. Now, more than any other time so far, we all have a choice. We really need armory stats on posters here.
