Still No Idea How Bioware Will Handle The Transfers From Low Servers
Jederix replied to crasiat's topic in General Discussion
You had better start pushing now, because they are not going to exacerbate the population issues on Fatman and other heavy servers by letting everyone else and their grandmother go there for free. It will be a targeted transfer (common sense prediction; no where have I read anything about such a thing); the heavy servers will most likely have only the option to transfer off of, not to. At least, not for free (if at all). -
Still No Idea How Bioware Will Handle The Transfers From Low Servers
Jederix replied to crasiat's topic in General Discussion
Server mergers do nothing to help the game. They are messy, complicated, and cause more bad press than a few forum posters complaining about dead servers could ever generate. I am certain (though I really have nothing to back this part up) that some servers will be closed out completely during the transfers if they become too low population. This may upset some, but it is far better than having a bunch of dead servers (also, this procedure worked well for Rift). -
Socializing in MMORPGs ... Nearing Extinction?
Jederix replied to GalacticKegger's topic in General Discussion
Induce grouping? So, the only reason grouping is in other games is because it's forced? What does that tell you? Says to me, no one wants to group and they only do it because they have to. Doesn't seem to back up anything anyone talks about, does it. -
There are plenty of posts in this forum already that I find entertaining. I don't need to go elsewhere for my entertainment, haters provide a bunch of it here every day.

Fun. I know that ship sailed a long time ago for you, but most people play these games for fun. NOT to be some eJock.

We know. The one you created in your head despite the information that was given. This is the issue with many around here. Not much Bioware can do about that. The game you created in your mind doesn't exist, and never will, because the production costs would be endless and the development time would be decades.

Hardly. If WoW has proven anything, it's that PvPers are a minority. I know you refuse to believe this (most PvPers do), but "real" PvPers do not play MMOs, they play FPS and RPG games where things are equal. The only people interested in MMO PvP are those looking to exploit gear and class imbalances that are inherent in all MMOs. Should they add these things you suggest? Sure, it won't hurt anything and would boost subs. Would it bring in 8 million players? No. PvPers are not large enough in numbers (in the MMO genre) to support a game. If they were, the landscape would be covered with successful ones.

I think SWTOR just had bad luck with its timing
Jederix replied to Dylancholy's topic in General Discussion
It's only been five months. Your last sentence is subjective BS, by the way. My $15 goes to support this game to make it better. I have the patience to wait for that because, in the grand scheme of things, $15 isn't a big deal to me. I'm sorry it is such a burden to your financial situation. There is only one difference between "us" and "them". "We" have the patience to wait for Bioware to make the changes needed for this game and "they" don't. I'll let you decide which camp you belong to (we already know). -

I hope this isn't the case. I have no desire whatsoever to play any MMO that does not use hotkey combat. My MMO days will be done, most likely, if this is how it is going to be. -
Why do you think a lot of us are on PvE servers. For the very reason you stated (good PvPers don't go around telling people they are good, btw, just the ones who think they are good do this). I can only imagine what the playerbase on The Fatman (especially Imperial side) is like. Cesspool of 4chan internet memes and "your mom" references.

How much onlie players does SWTOR actually have?
Jederix replied to Videle's topic in General Discussion
What an artful dodge of his question (which gives all of us the answer to his question as well, funny enough). I know it's hard to believe, but Bioware knows more than you about their own numbers. -

Careful, they'll call you a fanboi. Watch out! OH NOES!! Love the fanboi replies. Roughly translated, they mean "I have nothing to say that anyone would believe, so I'll just call you a name and shout "I WIN" as loud as I can." Hilarious. -
Pay for a transfer or buy another game? VOTE
Jederix replied to -Eternal-'s topic in General Discussion
You mean, you hope they don't pass up the opportunity. Because if they do, it makes it harder for you to cry on the forums how the "evil corporation" is charging you to move when they caused the problem anyway. Who am I kidding, no matter what route they take, you will be here, complaining that it isn't the change you wanted, or some other such nonsense. -
Where are you headed? (toon transfers)
Jederix replied to Koenig-O-Riain's topic in General Discussion
There will be controls in place, that much you can bet. Fatman will be off limits for transfers, almost definitely (I chuckle at anyone who thinks they will be able to transfer to there for free). The only people crying for mergers are lazy ones who don't want to have to do anything to move, they want Bioware to do it for them. Mergers won't ever happen, at least not until this game is circling the drain (which it isn't) -
Interesting tweet I just saw from Stephen Reid...
Jederix replied to OmegaMayhem's topic in General Discussion
When someone doesn't know what they are talking about, hyperbole is the "weapon of choice" to try and make a point that was ignorant in the first place. Some around here have the art of "hyperbole instead of facts" down to a science. -

My guess, because he didn't say specifically what was coming or give exact dates. You and I both know why developers don't give exact dates; it is lost on some of the people around here, however. -
Except there are several servers that have decent population. It isn't "every server but one." You only hear about the Fatman because it is a PvP server and PvPers are chronic complainers.
-
Mergers are messy, complicated, and do nothing but generate bad press (yes, much more than a few whiny forum posters could ever generate). Period. It isn't rocket science. Transfers are coming. If this is not enough for you, cancel your sub now. There will be no mergers.

This your first MMO? Because they are always works in progress and never finished. So, no, the finished product was not released 7 months ago, it will always be evolving.
-
When your posts start to be constructive criticism and not "this game sucks" and "I hate fanbois (otherwise known as those who disagree with you)", then you might have a point. As of yet, you have no point.
-
Except no one but you, your friends, and maybe your guildies gave a damn about your blacklist. You weren't teaching "bad behavior" players anything because they still got groups. Xserver is coming. Same server will help, but it won't solve the issue of no one running flashpoints. Bioware will get their metrics from the data and realize, in a patch or two, that xserver LFD is the only way for an LFD tool to function properly.

Hijacked by doomsayers and haters, this thread will soon be.
