  1. I think they may be adjusting the cap on instances. The other day I was on Tattoine and there were about 50 other people there. I went to the fleet for a sec to check out some auctions and when I zoned back I was in Tattoine [1] all by myself.
  2. Forums are always filled with negative posts. People who enjoy the game are too busy playing it to sit on a forum and post negative comments.
  3. I have a GTX 460 too and mine runs great though the card does get hot quickly. But I live in Florida its warm to begin with. A good hard drive is essential too. If you have money to burn an SSD will get you the fastest load times.
  4. Bioware is not an indie developer. They are owned by EA. Thats what I meant.
  5. Thats great but Bioware isn't one of those.
  6. Point is why would Vivendi be looking too off-load it if the game is so successful? This crappy economy is hitting everyone.
  7. You mean like Activision/Blizzard? Vivendi has been trying to sell it and no one will bite even though the price includes the most successful MMO of all time.
  8. I've never hit a queue since transferring one of my toons. Although I have hit in-game queues waiting for mobs to spawn 'cause there so many damn people.
  9. The last EA press release I saw said they have 1.3 million down from 1.7.
  10. Like I said, you can't compare MMOs to wow, though its almost impossible not to. WoW has seen success so far beyond anyone else its kinda of unreal. They have more subscribers then every other MMO on the market combined. Thats insane. That doesn't mean those games are dead. City of Heroes, Lineage 1 & 2, Eve Online, Everquest, Dark Ages of Camelot, Final Fantasy, all those games are still very much alive. Even Ultima Online is still alive after 15 years. You don't have to be WoW to be a successful game.
  11. I've been playing these MMOs for a long time. I'm an old gamer. I remember when Ultima Online and Everquest launched. Every single MMO that has come out has gone thru the same exact thing. When the game is first released there's a flood of users. Then after the first month when all the free-game time expires, a bunch unsubscribe. Then after a couple of months, a bunch more unsubscribe. Then it settles into its active player-base. Thats how they've all gone. Even WoW when thru the same thing. There's nothing unusual about it.
  12. No it doesn't, it shows its settling into the average. WoW is an anomaly. Its bigger then virtually every other active MMO combined. When you pull WoW out of the list, suddenly SWTOR doesn't look so bad. Its right in line with all the other MMOs out there.
  13. For a company as large as EA its not going to hit them fast. It takes time. The company I work for went thru the same thing. It weathered 2008, 2009, 2010, then 2011 came and it started to bite and they did lay-offs. When you are in a 5 year long recession, its going to hurt eventually.
  14. Eve Online has about 300k active subs and on average about 30k logged in daily and they've been around for 9 years. You don't need to have massive WoW numbers to be a successful MMO.
  15. That might not have been Bioware's decision. That might have come from EA. The bad economy has hit the gaming companies pretty hard.
  16. I would think most people rerolling would go all the way to the end of Chapter 1 so they can get legacy levels before they started a new char.
  17. I kinda like the idea of having my own server all to myself. I think I'll fill up Jedi Covenant with characters so I get stuck on Eidolon Security.
  18. I've only noticed it the starter areas. Once you get past coruscant/dromund kaas the population starts thinning out.
  19. I haven't noticed the performance dropping, but this game has always had wonky graphics performance. Some areas are not optimized. I have noticed that my graphics card heats up a lot faster then it did prior to installing the last few patches and the load times between zones has gone up considerably. I haven't had these same issues with any other games I play on my PC and my gfx drivers are current so I can only guess that they made a change at some point in one of the more recent patches.
  20. There's nothing to "save". SWTOR has plenty of active accounts. They just opened too many servers at launch. You don't have to have 10 million players to be a successful MMO. EVE has been around for years and years and only has an average of 30k concurrent logged in users at any one time.
  21. I think the future of MMOs is going to be hybrid single player/multiplayer. The latest releases of new games are all moving in that direction.
  22. You don't get it. You're comparing this game to KOTOR 2 which was a single-player game. Thats your first mistake. MMOs have constraints on them that single-player games do not as a consequence of their design, having to handle large volumes of simultaneous players in the same game world. And since these games require a constant connection over the internet to a remote server, the designers have to keep bandwith in mind and so can't require too much data to have to pass back and forth. You will never get as finished a product in an MMO as you do in a single-player game because for 1, MMOs are constantly evolving so they have be designed with room to expand. 2, MMOs never end. The plotlines, the questing, the gameplay itself has to stay open ended. And 3, MMOs have to keep in mind bandwith and processor capacity and so have to be conservative with how many pixels and how much data is on the screen at any one time. These are issues single-player games do not have.
  23. The OP shouldn't be playing MMOs at all. You could copy and paste that post into the forums of virtually any MMO out there.
  24. I think that is the point. Lethality is the bridge between operative and sniper. Its a good option for people who like the operative but prefer to stay at range. Lethality has the same twist for snipers. Its the most mobile of the specs available to snipers since there aren't as many cover dependant abilities. IMO, thats why Lethality is a shared tree. Its the cross-over for people who want more options rather then be locked into a specific playstyle.
  25. Yeah it is because I am gay. You win a gold star!
