  1. I absolutely love Diversion. I use it on every Elite, and between that and encapsulating my companion in Ballistic Shield, my companion survives elite fights the majority of the time now.
  2. Yeah, the very last armour in that video (all white... shown on Illum) is absolutely amazing. Alas, it's not currently available in-game from what anyone can tell (I asked around). I'm cool with the variety of armour available for us. I personally like the imperial uniforms (which fit my character well), but there's a decent amount of trenchcoats, breastplates, and other outfits. My only real annoyance is with the headgear, that tends to looks pretty bad (especially on female characters). But that tends to be the case in general in this game (have you looked at the headgear available for Sith Inquisitors... especially at the later levels... UGH!
  3. Lokin... really? As a sniper (marksman at least) having a mob all over me eating my face is counter-productive even with a pocket healer. I'd rather keep the enemy *over there* while I fill them with holes. Hence my preference for Vector and Scorpio. I know my friend who's plays an Eng sniper played with Lokin for a while, as with his AoE he didn't mind being the center of attention, but eventually he moved to Scorpio due to the pounding end-game mobs can lay on you.
  4. I know. It's horrible. I wanted my agent to have a relationship with her right from the beginning, and I thought it was possible based on how flirty she was. It wasn't until I was almost finished Act 1 that I read on the forums that same-sex relationships weren't yet available in game.
  5. Yup... as an Armstech with a friend who's also a Sniper (around the same level) I ground Arms for a while until I procced the Exactitude Grand Vanquisher's Electrostaff schematic, so I could outfit Scorpio for both of us. From what I've found, the Grand Vanquisher's Electrostaff is the best techstaff available in game. On a side note: BioWare need to standardize their naming conventions. About half of the Techstaff plans are called "electrostaff" as part of their name.
  6. Yup. I almost bought one of these on the GTN the other night, but instead opted for the slightly different: TH-16A Master Medic Suit because it looks better on my agent. I had wanted something a bit higher ranking as an upgrade to my I'm still wearing the Hammer Lookout's Pants, which suit any imperial uniform well. Only uniform I'd prefer even more would be a white one. So there's a few orange (moddable) options for those looking for imperial uniforms.
  7. I was marks the whole way to 50. I found Kaliyo became near useless around 30. Luckily, I got Vector shortly thereafter and used him 99% of the time to great effect. A few elite fights were pretty tough and required I bring Kaliyo in a change tactics slightly, but it's quite doable (and fun). Scorpio is great when you've geared her up a bit. The key is to send your companion in first (CTRL+1) - especially with Kaliyo, Vector, or Scorpio - then queue up your Ambush. I always open with Ambush + Followthrough. After that it varies on how difficult the mobs are a and how many there are. I use Followthrough after every Snipe or Ambush when it's available, SoS on anything I need to tear apart, and make sure to Shatter Shot and Diversion early in the fight on any Elite. Also... in Elite fight try to close somewhat on the target so that you can put up Ballistic Shield and encompass your companion in it.
  8. 1. Inability to get improved plans from REing Vibroknives (bug?), and the lack of Orange Techstaves (and Aim-based hilts to socket them with). 2. Daily gear that is (slightly) better than what I can make. 3. A useless GTN search capability. With that said, no game I've ever come across is perfect and I'm quite enjoying SWTOR.
  9. What's the point of cooldowns displaying on a keyboard? When does any (competent) gamer ever really look at their keyboard? Nope, first thing I thought when I saw that keyboard was "too bad the custom buttons are on the wrong side... and above a touchpad". Seriously... who uses a touchpad for gaming, even if it is a multi-touch screen? The mouse is interesting, but they've put too many buttons (12) on the thumb. Last I checked I have 4 fingers and a thumb on my mousing hand. I'll stick with my Logitech G15 keyboard and G700 mouse.
  10. ^ This. Cross-faction grouping doesn't make any sense from a story standpoint.
  11. I'd really love to see some sort of proc HUD built into this game. I'm personally against add-ons (and I was an add-on junkie in WoW), but it would be very useful, especially for certain classes (Sith Warrior from my experience).
  12. It would have to be designed to happen at a specific point in the class questline (likely between planets, somewhere around level 30) from a logistical standpoint, otherwise there'd be far too many variables. Remember that switching sides would be a very significant change, as all your missions would be null and void, and then there's the whole issue of your companions. Would be interesting, but wouldn't solve the Empire/Republic imbalance.
  13. It prevents chain-undercutting that inevitably happens otherwise. In other games that don't retain your deposit when you pull an item, hardcore sellers (and there are lots of them) will play a game where they constantly pull their listings and re-post them at prices that slightly undercut the competitors. The way it is now, you have to put some thought into your prices before you post the item.
  14. I used Kaliyo (obviously) until I got Vector, at which point I dropped her like a sack of potatoes, as she's had become less and less useful as I progressed through my late 20s. After that, I used Vector almost exclusively (even on most elite fights) until I got Scorpio and geared her up. I've been using Scorpio for a while but still pull Vector out on occasion.
  15. Though I had alot of fun in my ~6 years of playing WoW, I never really connected with my character. Being someone who's played tabletop RPGs with my friends (who are also my guild) for over a decade, I find the characters I have the most fun playing and remember most fondly are the one who have a story and I connect with. That's one of the things I'm loving about SWTOR. From the very start, I was able to get a sense I was playing a character rather than just being a random avatar performing (albeit entertaining) actions. I quickly determined that my Imperial Agent is a patriot who believes in the empire, but doesn't trust the Sith. Being able to take part in conversations and take actions in cutscenes (though many of these don't have a long-term impact on the game's story), makes a huge difference in being able to draw me into the character I'm playing.
  16. My only issue with Temple, was that since she's a ranged DPS (like us), mobs tend to jump on our collective face. That's why I stuck with Vector even after I got Temple, since he melee DPS', it meant mobs tend to stay at range (and if they try to close I have time to deal with them and keep 'em away). I should pull her out and use her again. I like her character, and I need to up her rep since I have both Vector and Scorpio nearly maxed.
  17. What are the goals of PvE sniper, as far as stats (I'm Marksman if that matter)? I've been stacking Accuracy, Crit, and Surge (in addition to Cunning and Endurance of course). Currently sitting around 104% Accuracy, 38% Crit (with buff), and 68% Crit Multiplier. I just started questing on Illum yesterday, and have yet to start running flashpoints with my guild.
  18. ^ This. Anytime I enter a conversation with a Sith, I am immediately distrustful of their true motives. Many are simply psychotic or otherwise messed in the head. Those ones are easy to dismiss. It's the intelligent and composed ones who I am most concerned with. I work for them when the end goal serves the empire. I mouth off to them when they get out of line. And I've killed a few as well.
  19. I have all my abilities bound on my cover bar as required. When out of cover, I have only the abilities I can use bound, so if I happen to look down at my bars (which is rare) I'll only see what can be used. I do use the second center bar, where some abilities that can be used in- and out-of-cover are.
  20. The problem is with the uppermost platform (likely due to the possibility for forcefields in certain versions of the fight). The best way to manage this fight solo is to set you companion to passive, attack Jadus and then pull way back on the middle platform to near the steps to the lower one. He'll follow, and once you have him a good deal from the upper platform, send your companion in and lay the beatdown.
  21. BioWare stated at some point fairly recently (can't remember if it was an interview or a forum post) that they're working on adding Neutral gear and relics. Not exactly sure how it'll work, but I welcome it.
  22. I had planned to go neutral with my Agent, but fell more towards the dark side as I had to deal with psychopathic Sith and incompetent Imperial forces. Then there was everyone screwing with me in one way or another than needed to be dealt with. When I finished the class questline, I was at 2500 Dark, which is where I'm trying to keep myself.
  23. You people who are quoting chart sites like TOR Status don't understand how these sites work. As TOR doesn't allow mods, and doesn't list the actual populations on servers, all those sites have to go by is the relative status level (light, heavy, full, etc.) BioWare applies to the servers. As those status levels are completely dictated by BioWare, it's quite possible (probable) that they're tweaking those levels as the servers settle. So a population of X that may have been listed as "Full" back on day 1, may now be listed as "Heavy". Doesn't mean the population actually changed, just that the status level did.
  24. I used Vector from the day I got him until I got Scorpio and geared her decently. Kaliyo died far too often - starting around level 25 - to be useful. Now I use a mix of Scorpio and Vector, depending on the situation.
  25. As others have said, it's a good move on the run (when relocating cover). I also use it as a 4th finisher when needed (others are Takedown, Followthrough, and Headshot).
