Well, I was able to upgrade from Vista to Win 7 (a long and horrid tale), reinstalled swtor, copied character/game settings into new install, and all is working fine now. I'm amazed my ancient abacus actually runs Win 7 and runs it well. At any rate, for those unable to do this upgrade, luck to you.

So, the next big question is... where can I find a Vista 64 to Win 7 upgrade? Can't find one on newegg, Amazon, or any other reputable site. Very leary of places like Ebay where you can't really be sure what you'll get. Any ideas out there?

I must have missed something before, but I tried the /reddit work-around again this morning and it worked. I'm in game, no problem. Not sure how long before the work-around is broken, but it should help some of us, at least.

Tried it again, as Eric lined out. got the certificate authent error at the end of running the launcher repair util, tried to run game launcher, got same cert auth error right away, launcher doesn't even come up. waiting for launcher diag to finish, seems to be spending a lot of time in Windows Error Reporting. btw, using Vista 64 update: logs sent

"Certificate authentication failed, please contact customer support." This after running the recommended launcher repair utility. Which had it's own error. This is just... rediculous. I looked at the web page regarding the repair utility, am running Vista, so looked at the so-called instructions for that... what the...?? Give me a break. mdchecksum ... riiiight. I'll get right on that. If I can't play, I'm unsubscribing. It's that simple.
