Hoods all permanently stuck up for Jedi Knights, is this intended?

In most of the promotional media for the game, Jedi Knight robes are displayed with the hoods in the down position. Such as..

Or

Or

Or even the character creation screen itself

Also, nearly every Jedi Knight NPC in the game has their hood down.

My question is, was it intended for all player robes to have the hood set to the up position? Or was there meant to be a hood toggle that simply hasn't been implemented yet?

You have stuff that have hood up and down. Simple as that. For example I could not get hooded robe until lvl 10 (from Black Talon). No worry. Hoods are there.

For me problem is different. Sith Warrior or any other jedi class look good since lvl 10.

Smuggler look good from the start.

Bounty Hunter loook good after 25lvl! :p For 25 lvl i was wearing some stupid helmet that look like from World War I... and it changed my voice even when I had nothing on my mouth. Kinda funny.

pretty sure he wasn't referring to a lack of hoods, more so the quite opposite of almost every piece of jedi armor you get has a hood, or if you're a twi'lek like my self then there isn't a single piece of armor in the game that has a hood.

really really really hope to see a toggle feature extremely soon, i could have sworn they said the feature would make it in by launch on the old forums, maybe not and my brain is just making it up, but i still remember the post.

Bioware needs to add a hood down variant for all of the robes which current force the hoods to be up. Why? Because currently Twi'leks have the hoods completely missing from any robe which forces hood up. They can't have the hoods up due to their head tubes (lekku) so Bioware simply deleted the hoods for Twi'leks. The robes look surprisingly ugly with the hoods completely cut off. Hopefully Bioware will add in a hood down variant for these robes even if it's just to benefit Twi'lek players.

There are TWO threads about that. On the first page. Can't you guys read ?

Three actually. It does show how big an issue this is though. Here is a link to my list of all the hood down armors that BW already has, fully completed, that they could add to the game right now:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=97688

This is an easy fix. It's low hanging fruit that requires minimal development time and would get a huge pay off in terms of player happiness vs. time required to provide said happiness. I hope they see the logic of this and do it soon.

ok people keep saying the bolded part

If it was easy and Bioware was sure it would work don't you think they would? or do you people really think BW is TRYING to ruin the game?

I don't know what to think. It may not be easy to add a hood toggle, but Bioware controls what gears go into the game, and they are sitting on a pile of hood down armors that aren't in the game. It honestly makes no sense. And putting those armors in would be easy, or at least no harder than putting any other piece of gear in the game. No toggle? Fine. Just put in the hood down armors. That's something I know they can do.

what are the consequence of doing that?

^ thats code

if you change one thing that that picture there's a chance it wont work anymore. taking out a period ****s up the entire thing.

to say its easy is an understatement. yes compaired to coding an MMO it is easy.

the thing with code is that 2 things completely unrelated can affect each other.

they have said its a glitch and they are working on it... what more do you want a play-by-play? on combating the glitch?

A glitch that's existed since beta of, oh, April? No, it's a design oversight they have yet to correct.

A glitch is why we had a combat log at one point and are now missing it. That is a 'glitch' in need of fixing.

This is a problem they intentionally created.

somethings take long to find work arounds... ever hear of major problems? (it mihgt not be major for you but it is to someone right?)

But they have to add in gear anyway. They are about to put in a new FP and Op. They will then have to put in gear. The code for the art is done. Yeah, it's work, but it's a lot easier than the code for a hood toggle would be.

I'm not going to argue with you over how difficult something is to program as neither of have any clue what the code looks like for this game.

However calling this a 'bug' or 'glitch' when it has never been working properly in the beta or live client is a misnomer. Well, unless you're suggesting that the development team is completely incompetant at any rate and this was working over a year ago and they've been trying for this long to fix it.

have you ever lost something and just couldn't find it for a long time? and then one day you find it.

not everything yells HEY IMA BUG HERE I AM!

If you are suggesting that this was somehow missed during testing, closed beta, open beta etc. I feel your argument is pretty weak.

Every goddamn robe covers your face, it's not exactly a 'stealth' bug.

I personally think the whole hood thing is working rather well. I don't know what Bioware could to for Twi'leks. If you ask me the hoots aren't really going to fit for them. I think it's cool that they just made robes show as hood down when worn by Twi'leks.

The best thing I like about the robes is that fact that you can show your helm, which puts the hood down or you can hide your helm which puts the hood up. I've been a pretty harsh critic of Bioware in the past, but this is one thing they did right in my opinion.

Btw... I think since they've already coded the hood up and down thing, it wouldn't be that tough to put another check box in for us to do it manually. And yes, I've done quite a bit of coding myself.

People may have asked for hooded robes, but they did not ask for ONLY hooded robes. You will stop hearing about them when Jedi can look like they were shown they would.

If you hear about the hoods a lot, it is because for many people if not yourself, it is a major issue.

I agree there should be a hood up or down option.

It should be easy to make it work. I usually have hide head slot checked in preferences but today I changed it so it it would show headslot and the hood disappeared and the hat appeared on my head. I go back to set it to hide head slot again and poof the hood is back.

It seems if they can replace hood with hat then they should be able to replace hood with nothing on head. Maybe it doesn't work so well on other char models or something but if they really cared about clipping and graphical glitches then they would have fixed all the butt clipping and jedi knght bubble-butt issues.

I hope they do add it soon.
