This is really good feedback Adovir. With Nick on board it will definitely act as a catalyst for us to communicate more. I like this idea, a lot. I will talk with Nick and Tait and figure out how best we can do this. We'll let you know the type of feedback we have been passing on, and then I can relay what their status looks like. Bi-weekly // monthly sounds realistic to me as well (probably closer to monthly). I'll get back to all of you with a plan around this!

kind of a stupid idea but why not suggest it??? Honestly i think alot of players wouldnt mind having some sort of survey be given out in the forums of how high they would list the problems in the game, so one day you get together the mass of the problems in the game that you know of then make a quick survey which the players can take to vote and rate how important they think a certain subject is, this way you wont be working on "useless" clipping hoods when the players want that clipped tail pipe fixed more. This way you could more effectively divert your resources to each area to try and fix problems with what is going on. In your monthly updates you could put something like a report of what you have done already to try and fix the problems at hand, letting people know the steps you have gone through makes them think youre actually working more than you actually are at times.

All and all im proud to say that i am very confident in you guys, although this may seem like alot of blind faith to some people i think that the devs are actually trying to make their game better, i definatly agree with the many small PTS theme that you guys are working with because it lets the balance find its way so much faster instead of doing massive buffs and nerfs in one patch, potentially screwing things more than they already are

keep up the good work, you have many of our support :D:D

and while you guys are still making the mistake of listening to me :jawa_evil:, I demand that we may have 2 active titles, one that goes before the name and the one that goes after the name just because some are really cool and would work together really well, also make a title for killing nightmare pilgrim and make it "the stuff of nightmares"

The problem is that only a small fraction of the players actually reads the forums, much less even posts on it, so any survey they do on here will be skewed. Part of a Community Manager's job is taking feedback from all players, not just the players posting on the forums, and a survey would quickly create the feeling "this feature must be implemented because it was rated top place" when in reality it is impossible to implement or only wanted to forum users.

WOW! Welcome to the team/forums/game!!! An Intelligence Analyst huh? Very interesting...that may prove valuable here - not in like some creepy way, just your ability to read mountains of boring trash to find the good stuff :)

Very pleased to have you joining us!!!

I loved being around Intelligence, and still am off and on, when u have been around the Old Community from as far back as the Cold-War, ur in it for life, and in a unique circle of ppl that u can only talk to.

And yes, i mis-spelled on purpose, and because of bad Arthritis and CTP.

When new changes are added/adjusted/reverted, the combat team is going to be making an effort to explain their reactions to your feedback, and why they are arriving at the conclusions they have. You'll see this more visibly the next time we send out a PTS update.

Welcome and Congrats! Looking forward to it. This change to Sorcs/Sages will hurt a lot of groups that are currently working on Cortani HM, Revan HM. Sorc Dps is in a good place right now, so why nerf the single target damage along with our overpowered AOE. You must've heard this a lot recently ;)

You have no idea how much controversy my assertion has stirred up within the comm team. Mr. Musco has directed a lot of flak my way, arguing a claim much similar to your own.

Us VIII fans need to stick together. I've lost many weeks of my life to that game (and specifically the RNG of getting Laguna's card for the Hero potions) but it was worth it. Now if only they would do an HD remake.

Good luck in the position Nick. A question though, if you could bring over one feature from another mmo, what would it be and why?

FF8? That's pretty solid, more of a 6 guy, myself, but as long as it's not 7 we're ok--

Wait, Chrono CROSS?

That's a typo, you mean Chrono TRIGGER, right?

...Right?

(emphasis mine)

That's actually a really provocative question to which I'd like to hear the answer. In fact, that might be a neat thread to add to the Suggestion Box, just to see what other players feel is "missing" from SWTOR. :w_tongue:

Welcome to the team, and good luck! I'm sure you've seen what the "hot topics" are, and I'm anxious to hear from y'all about em. (Especially 12XP unlock, continuation of companion/class specific stories, and joystick/controller support for GSF) :D

On a personal note....we'll never be friends. You're a patriots fan.....I'm COLTS NATION (And y'all let the air outta those balls! Lmao)

  • 2 weeks later...

I’ll be consolidating your comments and concerns into detailed reports, which will be disseminated regularly amongst the Community, Development, Leadership, and other key teams here at BioWare Austin.

Have you found any interesting feedback from the community?

I hope you guys don't kill the PvE experience with so much PvPreferential treatment. The latest Sorc Nerf really put a damper on things PvE-wise....

Good luck. You have your work cut out for you. Intelligence analyst, eh? I hope the analisys EA/BW seeks is related to improving their relationship with the community, and improving communications with the players, and not so much about building dossiers on cantankerous forum posters.... (Joking... Kind of...)

I still have yet to experience anything which competes with the epic-ness of Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy VIII, however. I am also a giant nerd when it comes to historical grand strategy games, particularly Paradox’s Europa Universalis and the Total War series. But then again, my experience so far here in Austin shows me that I’ve only just scratched the surface of SWTOR. Challenge accepted.

Outside of the gaming world, I’m a sucker for live music and recreational sporting leagues. I graduated from Wake Forest University (North Carolina) in 2008, before working in D.C. for a stint. Strangely enough, prior to joining BioWare Austin, I was trained as an intelligence analyst handling the Middle East and North Africa. I’m an avid reader – just finishing up my reread of ADWD before the new HBO season (go team Stannis), and am mid-way through the Darth Bane trilogy. And as a native Bostonian, I bleed Red Sox and Patriots pride.

I look forward to interacting with many of you in the coming months. I’m honored to play a role amongst one of the industry’s most talented development teams, not to mention serving as a primary outlet for such a thriving and passionate Community. Look for me on the forums. Follow me on Twitter -- @avola_swtor. Get excited. Heck, from what I’ve seen in just a few days, I can assure you that great things are in store for the game in 2015, and I can’t wait to hear all about your chosen Path.

Best,

Nick

How about board games such as Luftwaffe and other classics like that? I'll take a look at Universalis soon.

Why does the italicized remind me of Ask a Ninja's "I look forward to killing you soon" ? :p

Welcome, grow a thick skin and enjoy the game.

Mass Effect (and yes, I absolutely romanced Tali throughout the games before accidentally wiping out her entire species in a series of fiery explosions.. She never quite forgave me for that for some odd reason).

>Not brokering peace between Geth and Quarians

>Not romancing superior Jack
