New Companions

This might sound strange.. But I hope that they will not just give us a companion, but give us a choice in which.

As an example, a call to arms happens upon a new unknown planet, you need to travel there to help out the remaining forces. Though at this mission, you need someone with a little more expertise then yourself and your companions.

There could be some of the remaining Planetary story characters (Since we all meet those) WHICH you didn't kill off throughout your levelling experience. You're now granted a choice between one of these characters, which will follow you into the heart of the enemies base and complete the objective.

^

That right there, is one of my dreams. Is it likely to happen? I guess no, but one can always hope:jawa_biggrin:

My suggestions would be for a few characters not in the game:

Theron Shan from Lost Suns and Annihilation

She Vizla from Deceived trailer

Nico Okarr from Return trailer

I would say as people you can run into, yes. She vizla would very much fit a Jace Malcom-stlye antithesis for the Imperials, and seeing Nico Okarr would be nice for certain. And any love for Theron Shan is always good.

As companions, though? Not so much.

And I did realize that there is a Force philosophy that may work as the Force Based healer: a member of the Jal Shey. They would be a wonderful force-based healer while being able to work relatively well with both factions. And even then, they would work as a very interesting counterpoint to any Sith or Jedi that works with them.

I can still remember the bitter disappointment on my first play through Taris on an Imperial character when I realised Thana Vesh was not going to be a companion :( (I suppose the next best thing is a dark side Jaesa Willams with a single sabre and wearing the Thana Vesh outfit ;) )

So I would throw my vote out there for allowing Thana Vesh as a potential companion, although I realise certain aspects suggest that this won't come to pass (She was only a character Imperials came across and even then many will have taken the option to kill her)

Now that I've gone through all the class storylines I'd like to see an option to start unlocking companions from other classes. There are several instances of Imperial companions knowing/ being on friendly terms with Republic companions.

Sith warrior's companion Vette knows Risha a Smuggler companion.

Jedi Consular companion Qyzen knows Mako a Bounty Hunter companion.

Jedi Knight companion Doc sort of knows Kaliyo Imperial Agent companion.

It's a shame I can't remember the name of the female reporter on the beach at Ord Mantell, I thought she had some of the better one liners and would have made a good companion.

Lamalla Rann is the name of the reporter on the beach of Ord Mantell. She's featured in the interview with Baron Deathmark, if you're a fan of hers. I personally wanted to rub her face in the sand, and quite possibly drown her, I found her that annoying lol, but to each their own. :)

The quote from Bioware that inspired all of this was

Q: Will we ever see (examples given of NPCs from class stories) in the game again?

A: For NPCs, they are asking around internally “who would you like to see again?” He suggested for interested players to start a thread on this to give them feedback, as it is the right time for it. He did say that if an NPC died in any version of a class story it would be unlikely for them to bring them back.

showing that they were considering bringing back characters, but not necessarily as companions. But since the thread about bringing back "characters in general" was pretty much shot down http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=676832 and redirected here, I'll cover both. I've completed every class story so I'll break it down by class. I'll try to leave off anyone that possibly died. I'm also pretty unfamiliar with the characters that females can romance. The characters I'd like to see (who I mentioned in the first place): Doctor Avesta and Lord Cytharat. Both are great characters, with fascinating romance angles (in my opinion). I'd love to see them as faction-based bonus companions.

As for Cytharat possibly being dead, depending on the choices of the player, I will note that no one ever saw his body, and, as we saw with Vader, we all know how well leaving a Sith Lord by some lava works for assuring their death. Left for dead does not necessarily mean actually dead. In a space opera, if we don't see the body, we can't be sure of the death.

How about the rest of you? Any other characters you'd like to see?

Haven't finished Pub-Makeb, don't care about Avetsa personally (haven't romanced her, my Smug is straight), but Lord Cytharat? I would rearrange the stars.

Also, Keeper (you know the Keeper I mean). Keeper, let's work together again. Let's overthrow the Sith and remake Intelligence and get Watcher 8 back and and...

Man, I can't actually remember any NPCs I want back as companions, because it's been so long since I played the class stories.

Oh, wait, is it Crystal? From the Great Hunt? Can I swap her with Skadge?

I am also in the Thana Vesh fanclub, but since she is killable does that mean she is off the table? Or should she get implemented as a companion, only characters who didn't killed her can have her as a companion? Would she come with her own set of Thana Vesh outfit (I mean since it is also already on the cartel market, packs and reputation vendor)?

Are there class specific companions possible, or do they have to work for everybody like the last ones (HK-51 and Treek)?

I would like to Syo Bakarn as a companion of a Jedi Consular, but I guess he is also difficult for the story decisions one can make. Same goes for many other story important NPCs, they can be killed at one point or another and not all survive.

I don't know is Theron Shan anywhere in the game or is he just in the comic and the novel? Would like to have him as a companion for Republic characters (and a flirt option for females... maybe also for males, I don't mind).

Also I would like to have a true padawan for my Consular, not an adult that also works as a romance (am I the only one who thinks it is wrong to have a reletionship with his own student?). Give me a teenager/kid like young Anakin or Asoka that is really my padawan and not some genius who doesn't need any training or teaching or mentoring from me.

A lot of you are suggesting characters that don't fit Bioware's criteria:

So add some more to the discussion. Don't just nitpick and not contribute. And now, to continue:

While the Sith and Jedi are big players, there are several other force schools, and not just the one I mentioned earlier. A new companion (especially one that is romance-able or same gender romance-able) who is of a different force school would be great. In addition to the Jal Shey, there are several other schools, including:

Wardens of the Sky

The Blazing Chain

Zeison Sha

If she were an available option (which I doubt, since her death is on screen), she would probably get something similar to Treek and HK-51: a whole set of gear with her name specifically tied to her.

That would be nice, but it may be difficult to implement.

Theron comes from some of the tie-in comics and novels. He's an SIS agent.

He's also the son of Satele Shan and Jace Malcom.

In his showing, he doesn't seem to have a favored type of partner. He's friends with a Twi'lek mercenary but their relationship seems more sibling-like than romantic. So having him popup as a flirt-able NPC would be cool. Plus just seeing him doing SIS shenanigans would be awesome.

Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks the M!Consular/Nadia pairing is a bit on the squicky side. I can see why there wouldn't be a young padawan as a companion (having a child about could be a bit disconcerting to players), but Nadia is kind of a weird case (and she did spend a good deal following the Consular in Chapter 2, albeit in an indirect way).

I was actually the one who asked the question, and -- while I admit I had a hard time hearing the answer -- the impression I got from the answer was that characters coming back as companions were not out of the question, and that it was a good time to start a thread on the forums for characters people liked who have appeared in the game. That could have been me mishearing, or just being hopeful, I suppose, but that was the impression I got.

As much as I know many people would love Thana Vesh, I do think since her possible death is on-screen, she may be impossible. Personally, I was never really into her, but if they decided to make an exception, resurrect her and add her, I wouldn't complain. I'd just much prefer, if they were going to bring back the possibly-dead, that they do so for Cytharat, especially since his possible-death was off-screen and assumed, unlike Vesh's death.

I love several of the suggestions I'm seeing here (but Cytharat and Avesta remain my favorite options thus far)! Thanks, ladies and gents!

I'm not sure I understand why Thana Vesh has such a huge following. Is her arrogance endearing likeable or something?

Like I said earlier, I would abuse the punish emote so badly if she was my companion.

she was written very well with a consistent, strong, and distinct personality. that is why you will get a lot of people who loved her in game like me and a lot of people who hated her like you and I would guess a smaller percent of people that don't feel strongly either way.

that is the mark of a well written character

the reasons I like her are kind of the same reason I like Jayne in firefly. she's strong, consistent, obnoxious, conceited, messes up a lot but acts like she had it under control, doesn't like to be told what to do but respects a good leader and talks big but really its just a act, she never really tries to kill you or anything although she claims she's going too. she acts like she hates you no matter how much you suck up to her but follows your lead and doesn't fight your orders, not that the game would let her anyway. just full of personality and humor that you either love or hate

to add a suggestion, I think a hutt companion would be both silly and awesome :D

also as that great list above suggests teff'ith would be awesome with the way she talks and also would love to see crysta from the BH story again I miss her... her accent and her mohawk
