Right, seriously, "They don't care, obviously?" If they didn't care, they wouldn't have given you the option to romance them at all. Besides, them becoming companions ATM makes no sense story wise. They're wanted by both sides for treason, and being seen with them would result in you being implicated, which the characters themselves don't want. They will add companions when it makes sense story-wise. You can't just shoehorn them in somewhere, hoping they'll stick. They're now part of the main plotline, so as such they're going to be used there. Later on, after Revan's been dealt with, maybe we'll get one per faction, or hell, maybe both. Who knows, maybe they're testing the waters. I'd prefer to give them a chance seeing as this new expansion is coming out soon, and soon after that there'll be more patches. Give them a chance.
Why are you talking as if Disney laid down the law that Theron and Lana have to be fugitives and thus Bioware is bound and can't do anything about it? Bioware wrote it like this themselves. Simple. They could've written it any different way to turn them into companions and come up with any excuse necessary, just as they did with tons of other companions. And they're not testing any waters, did they test any with HK or Treek? No. They just put them in hoping they stick. Do you really think 3 years, 2 expansions and 2 other new companions later is not enough "giving them a chance"? They had multiple oppurtunities to add SGR companions, it didn't happen. What reason could it be other than just not really caring about SGR that much and considering small inconsequential flirts "fixed enough"? Edited by Pietrastor

News from the Manhattan cantina event: Starting in 3.0, there will be 'playersexual' options in the dialogue, so anyone can [Flirt] with anyone they want. While we still won't get any new dialogue with existing companions, it is still possible and being considered, according to Eric Musco.

If we got a penny for every thing Musco has said is "being considered" or "is on the wall of crazy" or "something we'd LOVE to do!" I would be able to purchase EA for myself.

SGRA in 3.0?

There will be SGRA in 3.0 during the story. These NPCs will be "player-sexual", meaning that if you are a player no matter your gender you can romance them. There will be no companion SGRA though.

Companion Story in 3.0?

No companion story in 3.0

Will there be new companions in 3.0?

No.

Sigh...

****'s sake. I bet none of those [Flirt] lines end in physical contact either.

Well, at least I've got the new Discipline system and end-game to think about. Dunno bout the rest of you, but from now on it might be better if I treat this game like WoW: no meaningful story, no interesting characters, head down run the content.

Okay, that's a bit much. The story is still quite good. I really enjoyed Makeb.

Basically. Bioware's decided that it's cow-milking time, and to hell with any meaningful distinctions between SWTOR and any other MMO.

Bioware: You're pathetic. Seriously pathetic.

You'd be one of a handful.

And there isn't, and likely never will be, any further character development for PCs. Or new companions who aren't kill-crazy f--ksticks.

Yeah... I'm afraid I must side with Tatile and others on this. And it breaks my heart as Bioware is reneging on its own custom fur SWTOR! SWTOR was supposed to be a story-driven MMO that provided people with their own, unique Star Wars story. And they've gone back on it completely for all intents and purposes.

*sniffles* my poor sniper... *cries*

Well the expansion story probably won't end with 3.0, so maybe there's hope for Theron and Lana once the Revan story is wrapped up in 3.x and they're no longer needed to carry it, but I'm pretty sick of hoping and I just want to be put out of my misery at this point.

In every other respect this is my favourite MMO going, but Bioware's complete lack to transparency - on this issue in particular - goes a long way to spoiling it for me. For instance, SGR companions were "more work than we realized" and "delayed as we focused on the changes required to take the game Free-to-Play" more than a year and a half ago; what specifically is the state of it now? I'm not looking for an exact time, date, and the full script, but is it in active development yet? Is it even still on the to-do list?

Whether it's good or not, it's soured by the fact that any NPC I meet is going to be meaningless in the long run, as I am likely to never see them again after two conversations. There's no hope of continued contact, whether verbal or physical - the knowledge that Bioware are giving up on making anything more permanent than a mayfly makes the entire thing very shallow.

On that note: If it weren't for the early development decision to have Companions, the men would have been promoted and the women fridged before the end of Chapter 2.

SGR companions were "more work than we realized"

Ugh, so much nonsense. They must be hell-bent on unique dialogue and cut scenes. At this point, they should just remove the gender restriction from existing dialogue options. Sounds like the perfect task for that new programming intern. Heck, I live fairly close to Austin, I volunteer to do it for free!

Drive up there and volunteer. Bring pictures of their reactions when you try to explain what a "same-gender romance" is - it'll blow their minds that not everyone's straight.

Looking forward to the possibility of getting a 'hug Theron cutscene' or maybe, just maybe a 'holding Theron's hand' one for a real treat.

For that kind of stuff, I'd rather have in-game emotes.

Well uh, we have what feels like 100 of those now so knock yourself out? XD Not really sure what you were trying to say unless you're slyly implying RPing with real players trumps the (even more pretend) flirt convos you can have with npcs? Forgive me if I've taken your comment the wrong way, I'm unsure of why it was said.

But ehhh, taking my quote out of context like that also takes away the sarcasm and makes it look silly on its own. D; As if I actually am excited about the prospect of only getting those things with the male 'playersexual' npc.

Nah, that goes for me too. I'll still play swtor (might give it the old WoW treatment - clear content then leave for another year or 2), but at this point I'm not going to expect any more regardless of their future promises. I'll enjoy the new planets, have some fun leveling my characters, but if I want to play a game with better representation between gender options and SGR content I'll have dragon age inquisition for that.

Even though it's not really my type of game (space over fantasy setting any day) there's little else out there right now. :/

If only we could get some programmers together, and make our own MMO, with blackjack and ******s!

Or, you know, better gender representation and SGR content. We could even really regret not having straight-m!PC OGR options and then sit on producing the relevant content for three years.

Hell, with the EU being washed away as non-canon, we could even make a Star Wars one, just not a "canon" one :p

Well, it'd probably be pictures of security escorting me off the premises, but I suppose that could at least provide some entertainment. ;)

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply there was anything bad about the request - in fact, I didn't find it silly at all. I'd love to be able to hug my companions! I just thought it would be nice to have an emote rather than having to shift to a cut scene.

Hugging HK! XD

"Irritated statement: Master, I would prefer it if you kept your attachment to me hidden, for my sake if for anyone's."

Query: Master, what purpose does this strange vibrating device serve?

HK... what were you doing in my room?

Statement: Kaliyo left the door open.

KALIYO WHY WERE YOU IN MY ROOM?!
