I have a Optiplex 990. I'm not sure what version... Should I be able to run SWTOR smoothly? I don't know what video card it has but I know my processor is above 2.0 GHz and has more than enough RAM.

I was able to download Skyrim without any lag or anything when I play. So are the requirements for this game lower or higher?

If my video card isn't high enough, how much is it to get one installed and how much are they?

You should be fine, generally mmo's are a little more cpu versus gpu intensive. You'll definitely be able to play, may need to tweak some settings though depending on your computer. Pro-tip, when you hit ctrl+shift+f to bring up the fps of the client, red font indicates its your cpu slowing down performance, green indicates its the gpu.

I have a very similar setup, Radeon 6850 with a phenom 955 oc'ed to 3.6~ GHZ and the game ran great in the beta on high settings, and I've heard the retail client is even better without a debugger running in the background using resources.

laptops like this, are not GAMING laptops and will not run like their suppost to.

their for watching movies, data processing, video editing and general user documentation, not high performance gaming.

and their overpriced.

Running on Eyefinity portrait and it is EPIC!!

They do need to sort out UI thou, there are headings etc. you cant see if you set the bezel compensation. You can still click, just makes things little harder to get to menus you want.

Same with closeing some of the windows/menus. Easy enough to get around but will be alot better when we can shrink/expand and move menus around.

Heya! Glad to see there's somebody helping out with questions around here, really appreciate it. Anyway, as I'm not able to get in currently how do you think my system would run SWTOR?

OS:Windows 7 64-bit

Ram: 4 GB

Processor: AMD A8-3850 2.9 ghz Quad

Video: Radeon HD 6550D APU

Hard Drive: Not sure just a random 500 gig that came with the computer.

Should run it pretty decently... not max settings or anything but it'll run for sure. What resolution are you planning to run at? The HD 6550D is a beast of an integrated GPU.

Max settings? Probably not. Should run pretty well though!

Here's some gaming benchmarks for your laptop. Does decently for a laptop. These games are all way more intensive than SW:TOR and it handles them alright.

Wrong. An AMD HD 5850M isn't a gaming capable GPU? Please.

Ok, I have one of those annoying slimlines. At the moment I have a small PSU(thus the regular intel GMA X4500 graphics w/o any ram) but I think I found one that'll fit. IF I replace those two things will this computer be fine on this game?

Processor:Intel E5700

Memory:6GB DDR3

Also what video card would you suggest(the PSU I found was a 350W max) to just simply run this game?

Im looking to run it on Max if i can.

Intel i7 870 2.93 GHz O.C @ 3.6 GHz

ATI XFX HD 5770 1GB Dedicated

4GB RAM

ASUS P7P55 LX Turbo-V

650W CoolerMaster PSU

Should be able to max easily, might not be able to go too crazy on the AA though.

Another "Laptop Question"...

I have laptop with a discrete graphics card that has 512MB on-board RAM and does support the 3.0 shaders. The only problem is that this is nVidia GeForce 7300Go, not 7800. The geme requirements tests on the web keep telling me that my card meets the requirements EXEPT for the model.

So my question is: Is it really necessary for the graphics card to be 7800, or it's OK if everything else fits? And how flexible the graphics settings are?

I'm not as keen on high-end graphics as on the story. I still sometimes enjoy old games like Fallout2 and Carmageddon. So playing without all those super-dooper top-notch effects won't be a problem if only I AM able to play the game at all.

P.S. I do have a better computer but it's a desktop one. And I usually don't spend much time at home.

Can someone help me think of a good build? My budget is around $900. I want to run this game at max.

DVD Drive, $17

Case, $50

1 TB HDD, $130 (hard drives are expensive right now due to flooding in Thailand)

HD 6870, $165 A 6870 should be able to max the game easily, and offer great bang for the buck.

Seasonic 520w PSU, $60 520w is plenty for for your rig, and Seasonic is the best.

8GB DDR3 1600, $40 Ram's dirt cheap right now... no reason not to get 8GB.

Z68 motherboard, $95

i5 2500k $220 Best bang for the buck CPU on the market, bar none.

Windows 7 64 bit, $100

$888.54 shipped.

How will this run?

Well enough. I can't say for sure if you're going to be able to max at 1080p, but it'll definitely run the game smoothly.

I just had everything typed out and the forum freaked and kicked me out(deleting everything).

Ok, heres the scenario. Broke college kid needs a cheap gaming rig and he only has about 650 bucks at the most to spend on this. I'm getting windows through school at a discount so I won't post that(getting it for $64). Just let me know if this stuff works together and check to see if I made any mistakes.

AMD mobo

AMD 3.4 GHz processor

4GB memory

Radeon HD

500W PSU

bare drive w/ 6gb/s and 7200rpm

Case w/ 2 fans

DVD/CD drive

Those parts are all compatible. I didn't check to see if there were better deals out there, though.

So my question is: Is it really necessary for the graphics card to be 7800, or it's OK if

That's pretty tough for me to answer... you're pushing the limits with that setup. Hopefully they get some sort of free trial for you to try the game out before you buy it.

What about this laptop? It is a little bit more money but this way I can keep my slimline desktop and use the laptop to play games/etc.

It'll run the game for sure. I'm not positive if it'll max, but you'll definitely be able to play the game smoothly without having to compromise too much on the visuals.

Disclaimer: I'm not really a notebook guy, but that's what I've gathered from this http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6650M.43962.0.html

I currently have an Acer Aspire x1200 and I want to make SWTOR run smoother. I found something that might work. A Sapphire 100283L Radeon HD 5770 Video Card - 1GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, CrossFireX Ready, Dual DVI, Display Port, HDMI, Open Box.

Link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...oductresources

I wanted to know if the two would be compatible. So would I be able to use the Video Card with the computer? I really don't know much about computers so help would be nice. If you have an awnser please PM. Thanks.:)
