Boring World design

Playing through my second imperial Char makes me realize that the only thing that keeps me playing is personal story and getting new companions.

1)While the graphics are ok(i don't need high resolution textures), the landscape design is really boring. There are to few landmarks that make someone enjoy just watching it.

Examples:

Dromund kaas has this unfinished statue, why not a questline that makes you fight your way to the top?

Taris has just destroyed buildings.

Nar Shadaar has this big casino but with allmost no quests.

Why not make the casino your starting point transfering all companions to a suite there...

Outposts look all like the other same here why not an outpost in an disabled sand crawler...

2)The other thing is most of the quests are war related why not quests that make you align with another neutral faction.

Examples:

Tatooine would be perfect if you could align with jawas or sand people.

Same for Nar Shadaar why not choose a crime faction you can align with Hut cartell vs ...

3)When you hit 50 all you see is the boring space station.

There are already capital citys, make them the social point and get rid of the space stations!

Sorry but where did all the good world designers went?

Its not just this game others aren't better.

Not a WoW fanboi here played only for 5 months eu release but that game had beautiful and interesting designed zones.

I really hope they have some good ideas for the next planets because all i do now is rush through the planets to the story quests.

Sorry for the whine but i think it's true.

I think the world design is absolutely stellar in this game. Alderan, Belsavis...? Absolutely breathtaking. If that's bad or boring world design, I don't want to see good world design.

Really? What other games RPG or MMO have you played? Sure i can say the world design in this game is good, but "stellar" and "breathtaking"? Sounds like a fanboy to me.

Well let's see here, in no particular order I've played: WoW, WAR, SWG, EVE Online, AO, BGO, CO, LOTRO, MO, MU Online, RuneScape, TR... There's probably a lot more that I've missed but I just can't recall at the moment. SWTOR easily has the greatest world design in any MMO I've ever played, perhaps even any game period.

I think I am as much of a "fanboy" of this game as you are a hater. ;)

So he's a fanboy for expressing his opinion? Wouldn't that then make you a troll for countering it?

Sorry, but you won't get Skyrim here. A third of the population wouldn't play (as their machines couldn't handle it) and the lag would probably be unbearable.

Must admit the same spaceport on every planet and the repetition of other elements (corridors/buildings etc.) did make me think the game had been made from some kind of virtual Lego set... :(

I think they used the default items that came with the demo version of their game engine.

Funny, because my computer absolutely destroys Skyrim while the Old Republic destroys my computer...

They ran out of time. Just make sure to pay your sub on time. Maybe they will get around to finishing it.

The best way to get them to add or improve things is to vote with your wallet. It and bad press are the only things that have a shot at changing the direction the company wants to go if it isn't the one you want.

Pay for as long as you enjoy the game then when you get bored, stop. Don't come back till they add real stuff you want. If you return just because you want, ie miss it, it will just add to their idea that not adding real stuff to the game is fine.

They have. Every single person here posting about how bad this game is, has renewed their subscription past the first month.

honestly I don't see how a single one of your suggestions would make the world more interesting.

Some planets are more interesting then others though. But I guess that is true for every MMO.

I don't think all the worlds are boring. i really like the variety with each planet being so different. The worlds outside of cities are beautiful.

So your title is a little misleading. But your post is really spot on and i agree with most of it. It would definitely make the worlds more interesting and lifelike. The cities are subpar in certain worlds. Neutral factions and organizations would be a lot of fun to do missions for.

Some ambient sound wouldn't hurt lol.

Right now you can stand next to a waterfall or under flying vehicles onNar Shaddaa and not hear a thing...

Actually for me this is definately where it all falls apart. I like the level design but there's a distinct lack of ambient noise.

The waterfalls are a prime example, i should be hearing the water rushing by, crashing onto the rocks below and that noise should be drowning out most everything else, instead all i hear is some birds chirping and the odd wind through tree's noise.

I'm probably one of only a few people who like that they don't have music on all the time, i get sick of hearing the same tune again and again and usually turn music off totally in every MMOG i play. But without it you better have some damn good ambient noise to take on the load and TOR falls flat in that regard.

I can only conclude that they never had time to finish the ambient noises or that the engine can't handle a lot of different sound effects at the same time.

I think the planets are just amazing. I Have been going back and scooping up odd datacrons and lore objects. I have taken a closer look at some of the planets I ran through questing like mad and I just can't believe how beautiful everything is. I don't understand the theme park gripe with some. Everthing is wide open as far as I can tell. I do agree that more diversity with factions would be nice.
