Opinions are one thing, and i try to respect others opinions regardless of how much i disagree, but what the OP is saying isnt an opinion, it is just plain wrong. i played wow for many years on max settings, and im sorry but SWTOR looks worlds better.

You're saying that this:

looks better than this:

??????????????????

Please leave.

You mean taking a lopsided screenshot of some of the worst aspects from WoW with a model and gear from 2004 will look far worse? WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED?!

How about you compare something like...

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yvQcYhf662c/TvsJtaaMl-I/AAAAAAAAA_g/9fWJuMgY6eQ/s1600/swtor-dress.jpg

to

See, I can make one sided assertions out of context as well...

The point is, there are some outstanding issues with the engine that SWTOR is using, and it looks pixel-elated and out of date at times. If they can figure out whatever is wrong with High Resolution Textures and get them out to the players to use, I'm quite sure it'll be substantially better.

As it stands, the lack of detail on armor outside of conversations is definitely something that is annoying.

Again, this video shows it best.

Made fall of 2011 for both games..

LoL!

You used an in-game screenshot of SWTOR from who knows when or what settings and compare it to a 3rd party model.

Priceless.

Wow can be run on:

Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+

- 1 GB or more of RAM

Where as TOR can barley be run on

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better

Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM

Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM

The graphics in Tor are Slightly...and I do mean Slightly better then wow, but i would give up the graphics for better performance and right now WOW has bioware beat on Performance and everything else in a MMO.

I like the game. I am just disappointed after all the years and all the hype that Bioware didn't deliver a quality product and they continue to show they cant fix any major issues...but atleast I can Emote on a speeder now.

But seriously....Bioware blew it...this game isn't our savior from WoW :(

I really was hoping it would be but sooner or later a good gaming company screws up. Nobodys Perfect and this game is far from being anything to compete with WoW. If you cant get your game to run on lower end machines you have no way of expanding your subscriber base. People dont have the cash to go out and drop on a new PC now a days. Bioware has issues with this game and by the time they get it sorted out it will most likely be to late.

Bioware should of kept EA away from this game IMO

How a game made in 2004 that runs on a dual core processor, 2gb of ram, and an ati 3850, looks better with all max settings than a game just released late 2011. Now don't get me wrong I love SWTOR, but how this game can require a quad core processor, 4gb of ram, and a 4850 is beyond me. If Blizzard can make a game run and look good on such low hardware, then with TOR"S requirements we should be getting better results and performance then we currently have.

This is what happens when you drink too much Wow-Aid. As a therapy, I suggest you quit the game for at least a year and everything will make sense again.

Your video is fine. I'm not trying to assert claims to who SHOULD have the better looking game. I'm merely stating that people looking at two pieces of evidence out of context is a poor way of making or agreeing to a statement.

So, in turn, I made a counter-argument with the same outlandish, out of context information as the poster who got wild amounts of praise for his links.

Based on this, I hypothesize that others will also shower me with praise.

I'm not really assuming that, but it could be deduced based on the response the other was given. Lol...

Same model. It was taken out of WoWmodelviewer which pulls from the player MPQ's.

You took a picture of a preview window of a character in SWTOR, then took another picture from WoW that isn't in-game and actually thought that you could make a valid argument on that basis?

You must realize that you aimed at me with your gun, pulled the trigger and ended up shooting yourself in the face ... right?

TORs graphics look much better than WoWs.

WoWs cartoon graphics give the illusion of them looking better than they really are.

Only a true fanboy could say something LOOKS better but isn't .. about something for which LOOKS are the ENTIRE POINT.

LMAO.

not really, Cartoons are drawn with such broad strokes that it's easy to just gloss over details. Take the simpsons for example. Homer's hair is iconic but would look absolutely ridiculous on someone like say Hank Hill where a more 'realistic' cartooning style is more present.

Style is different than graphics.

I think 90% of us have played both WOW and SWTOR for at least a little bit amount of time...

Anyone who thinks WOW > SWTOR in terms of graphics must be blind...

Just the amount of polygons alone in WOW... I can still remember my character's boxy shoulders and feet. Reminds me of N64 Graphics, more specifically, Super Smash Brothers.

And you took a picture from 2004 and compared it to a VIDEO SETTING THAT CANNOT BE ACHIEVED OUTSIDE OF CONVERSATIONS!

Who put the more misleading information? Me or you? I'd argue that it was you, because at least WoW ALWAYS provides an accurate representation of it's detail, against that of TOR that cannot even achieve the same graphic detail when you are actually PLAYING the game.

So, when you can provide me of an in-game screenshot of ToR that has the same texture and detail as that of a conversation, we'll talk. Until then, you lose.

To those replying in a decent manner I appreciate your views:) for some of you others......

I'm running both games on this system

amd phenom II 980 3.7ghz

8gb ddr3 1600

nvidia 570 gtx

not a beast of a machine but runs both games flawlessly. For the huge difference in system requirements they really don't have much of a seperation in the graphics department ..... thats with both games at there max settings. Here again though just my opinion. Here are a couple screenshots off my comp you guys can't tell me a 2011 game with double the reccomended requirements looks the same or worse as a 2004 game that requires half the requirements. Bioware really messed something up here .

OP, your title is a great example of how difficult it is to come up with a good search engine for forums. It does not help the reader decide if your thread is likely to be interesting. You could have made it "I fail to understand [TOR graphics design]"

If you were trying to keep it short, you could have left out the third and fourth words in your title.
