  1. In the end, I think that EA is losing faith in Bioware and they are the puppeteer in all of this. If EA isn't happy with the money they're bringing in, they tend to make quick decisions that wreak havoc on the developers making the game in question. I think Bioware got the shaft on this one. SWTOR had so much potential. I honestly feel that had they not used the HERO Engine, this game would have been so much better. But that's just my opinion.
  2. That is still a rumor and has not been officially stated by anyone at Blizzard. My earnings call statements have yet to include anything solid on any of this. What has been said is that they're "warming up to the idea" of it. That still isn't guaranteed. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they were free to play ... but if it wasn't, I would still buy the game and pay for as long as it entertained me. Diablo's F2P model is going to give them a good idea of what "might" happen if Titan were to go to the F2P model. Thing is, until it's confirmed, we just don't know and it's all pure speculation.
  3. Again, I think there is a possibility that this exit survey is confusing them. When people are leaving (like me for example) and are asked if we would continue to play SWTOR if it was a Free To Play game, does it really mean that the player base, as a whole, is more interested in the Free to Play model overall? I said "yes, I would play SWTOR if it was free" on my exit survey. But that isn't the reason why I left to begin with. I left because the game was crap and isn't worth the monthly investment. Sure, I'll play it for free from time to time ... but there would need to be absolutely huge improvements made for me to pay another dime for anything associated with this game. Point is, if the game launched originally with a F2P model, with me knowing what I know now, I still would not have purchased the game. Free to Play isn't the reason why I left, the lack of quality was the reason. So there whole "players today are more interested in the F2P model" nonsense they're feeding us is just that ... nonsense. They "think" that the whole F2P model is the future. I strongly disagree. Quality games is the future ... the better the quality, the "money" aspect of the equation becomes irrelevant. XBOX Live sure as hell isn't changing their model and I think they're doing just fine, don't you? WoW sure as hell isn't changing their model and I think they're doing just fine, don't you? Granted, they're not where they once were but they still have a rather impressive paying player base even after so many years.
  4. I think these people (EA/Bioware) are getting confused on what they're reading from their exiting player base ... When I said, "This game is not worth $15.00 a month because it's not fun," doesn't mean that I am more interested in a Free To Play model ... it means your game sucks and I'm not willing to pay for it based on that conclusion. The gaming market hasn't changed, nor has the player base. If you make a quality game, people will play and continue to pay to play. If you don't, people will not. Simple logic that they simply do not, or refuse to not believe.
  5. If I have to pay for Makeb, as a full time subscription paying-player, I will walk away from this game and never come back. Why? Because EA needs to realize that they are more about quantity rather than quality these days ... and the only way they realize this is if more and more players walk away and never come back.
  6. remember when they said that there would be content delivered every month? remember when they said that ranked warzones would be in 1.2 then pulled them a few hours before the patch? remember when they said that ... well, you get the point. I don't trust EA. I now do not trust Bioware. It will take an act of Congress for me to buy another product from EA ever again. Their track record is getting more and more muddy. They've forgotten how to make quality games. They want quantity, not quality and it's a damn shame.
  7. I will not pay for "smaller expansions" every 6-8 months while paying a monthly subscription to an MMO.
  8. I have to agree. It just doesn't make sense. The vagueness, the silence. There are a lot of people that are upset about what is going on and they act as if they do not care. With GW2 coming, they act like it's no big deal. Granted, GW2 isn't the SWTOR killer, but it is another option for gamers. An option that will take more players from this game at a time when this game is trying desperately to keep subs/players. It just doesn't make sense ... are they purposely trying to run this game into the ground?
  9. If they end up charging for Makeb (even for monthly subscription holders), I can assure you, this game will not only bleed subscriptions like no other MMO has ever seen, but this game will go down in flames. For the life of me, I cannot fathom why they would even consider this. It's as if the people running this game have absolutely no idea what they're doing.
  10. I still play Ultima Online (mostly on slow days at work) today. If there was ever a time to make an Ultima Online 2, now is it. I can assure you, I'd cancel every single game account I have to play it. Ultima was and still is the most open game I've ever played. From PvE to PvP to Crafting to Player Housing ... nothing has ever come close in my eyes. UO2, where are you?
  11. This whole F2P model in SWTOR is making me dislike this game more and more ...
  12. This game went F2P faster than any game I've ever seen. What happens if this fails? Will EA pull the plug so quickly? I just can't see devoting anymore time to a game that has a very clouded future. EA has pretty much already pulled the plug due to numbers going down so rapidly. If the F2P model fails, what's their next move? I'm not sticking around to find out ... Protip to EA: Next time you decide to build an MMO, how about TALKING with your player base about the game ... you know, the player base that defines what "MMO" means? Ya ...
  13. I have to agree. This game has its issues, but to see it go to F2P so fast makes me worry. Why? Because if EA is so quick to push the F2P model, what makes us think they won't just pull the plug altogether if F2P tanks? I'm cancelling my sub tonight. I'm sorry, but they've been too quiet and too shady for far too long. I'm out ...
  14. I have a feeling that if they don't hasten their efforts to get this game where it should be, it'll be too late for them. If within 5 months this game isn't growing in subscriptions, it will never grow in subscriptions. The damage will have been done and with so many options out there for gamers, they simply will not return until a F2P model is introduced. Something is going on at EA/BW, that's for certain. I think their expectations and goals are not being met and changes are being made. Lets hope these changes don't follow the norm for EA. They make their money, then give it just enough money to live in its current state. Sorry, but gamers need more than just "enough to live" in today's gaming world.
  15. Give me more sandbox in my MMO's and I'll show you a subscription base that will grow instead of decline.
  16. I have this kind of resilience on my Sage and see this all the time too. It's comical to see the melee classes defend the damage output. It's even more comical to see the Pyrotechs do it too. All the while, DPS Sages/Sorcerers are nerfed because of the 1-49 level bracket and were told that they had too much burst. El Oh El
  17. I don't know if GW2 will take a lot of SWTOR players and retain them. Nor do I care. As a gamer, I play games. All of them. So yes, I will be playing GW2 but will also be playing SWTOR. However, if GW2 is a success in the PvP department, then SWTOR queues will start to become longer and longer. This isn't a good thing for people like me as I actually do enjoy SWTOR PvP in Warzones. If my queues go back to what they were in late 1.2, I will simply unsub. Either way, GW2 is already on the ball with balancing classes. Something I haven't really seen since beta of SWTOR. At the end of the day I'm still a gamer. I hope both games succeed so that my gaming entertainment isn't limited to one game. In other words, the SWTOR development team needs to start becoming more vocal and start speeding things up as far as this game's future is concerned.
  18. Snipers are far from being OP. They're one of the two "PURE" DPS classes in this game. They are meant to do a lot of damage. The cover mechanic takes a lot of getting used to. You sacrifice a lot of mobility for this DPS. Also, many of your DPS Sorcerers and DPS Sages have switched to Sniper/Gunslinger because of the issues that these cloth classes have. There is little room for mistakes as a DPS Sorc/Sage. One mistake costs you your life. Whereas a Sniper/Gunslinger has a little more room for error. The nerfs to the DPS Sages/Sorcerers was based on the level 1-49 brackets. It was a premature nerf and upon getting to level 50, Sages/Sorcerers realize that there isn't enough gear in this game to help. Against a Pyrotech or any melee class, a Sage/Sorcerer has to play flawlessly or they're dead. On my Sage, if a Sniper is on me, I get the hell out of dodge as fast as I can. I know what they're capable of if they're left to shoot at will. The same cannot be said when the rolls are reversed. My eyes roll back in my head like a shark eating a seal when I see a Sage/Sorcerer in my sights as a Gunslinger. I have an almost full WH geared Sage on a high rated RWZ team. I simply cannot do it anymore. I'm currently working on gearing out a Gunslinger now. If the Gunslinger/Sniper gets nerfed, I will simply leave the game out of frustration. Buff Sages ...
  19. I want my 2 minutes back ...
  20. I have been reporting this bug since Beta. It seems to happen more when you're stunned or knocked down right before the teams switch from Defense to Attack (or vice versa). It's a huge issue in Rated Warzones. Why this company takes SO long to fix bugs such as this one, is beyond me.

    Pvp a joke

Once I got more WH gear, Marauders/Sentinels weren't much of a problem anymore. There's a lot of bad ones out there, that's for sure. If you know what to expect, they're not too bad. However, I still feel that have just a tad bit too much mitigation for a "Pure" DPS. On a side note; those Pyrotechs ... mother of all things holy, they're a little out of control. I love my Sage, but any time I see a PT these days, I get the hell out of dodge (if I can).
  22. Here's where I stand on the issue. If a class can spec into a pure DPS role, I am fine with that. I have no issues with Pyrotechs putting up good numbers. What I do have a problem with is the fact that they have higher mitigation than that of a light armor wearing class. I have always been under the assumption that if you wear light armor, you sacrifice some defense for more offense. In this game, it is the opposite. The less defense you have, the less powerful you are. The more defense you have, the more powerful you are. Sages and Sorcerers are struggling right now. All the heavy armor classes are hitting like trucks. It's very disheartening. What exactly do DPS Sages and Sorcerers get to offset their light armor and low defenses? It surely isn't damage and their crowd control is easily countered by these classes.
  23. Because people are starting to figure out how hard they can hit in PvP and how easily they can burn down people in that same atmosphere. Oh, and because Darth Vader is a pretty awesome dude.
  24. Yet people complain about this happening on a constant basis. My Sage got nerfed for having an instant cast nuke that hit pretty darn hard. Then my crit got nerfed, so forth and so on ... yet nothing is being done to Pyro. I myself have jumped on a Pyro with 1/3 of his life left and me having a full life bar. Before I got him to 1/8th life, I was dead saying to myself, "how in the <BLEEP> did that even happen?" It's absurd to even defend it at this point. The fact of the matter is, if things don't change, they stand to lose a metric <BLEEP>ton of people to GW2. Which is sad because I really like this game.
