  1. the rewarding aspects of an RPG are the story, the journey, the progression. people who want to rush endgame, I would suggest, are playing the wrong genre. and by doing so, and expecting it to change to be tailored to their wants, are ruining the genre for everyone else.
  2. if that is not what people want, maybe they should find another type of game besides massively MULTIPLAYER online ROLE PLAYING GAMES. but yeah, someone else nailed it. When WoW easymoded the genre, they destroyed the desire to create community that was present in games before. I miss the days of Everquest where everyone knew everyone else, despite the large number of playerso n a server, and a true community developed over time.
  3. Yeah, I spent about 5 hours last night looking for a group for a heroic quest. First time I am thinking I may just be stuck on a planet trying to find people to get quests done before I can leave... :\ Completionist, so not just abandoning something I haven't done before....
  4. I agree with everything you have said here. People complain (validly) about the idiots on WoW - but it seems to be getting almost as bad here. And thats sad for me to say, because I play on a RP server, and I would have expected slightly more mature players there. Instead ohjoy, there goes Dartthmawl the Assassin refusing to assist me when I am tanking and saying "no u" to everything I ask him to do.
  5. To answer a few questions from newcomers to the thread: Both my pc and my girlfriend's laptop have been checked out by a friend who runs a computer shop building/repairing pc's - quite often for gaming. He can find no reason, in our software or hardware, why this game shouldn't run on highest settings for me and at least medium for her. I did give my specs to Bioware, but did not post either here because it provides ammo to ignore the problem and focus on our machines. My pc will run ANY other game on the market on maximum settings, smoothly, no framerate issues. Hers runs everything we have tried on max settings as well. I do love the game (despite that it does have issues, anyone who ignores that is just being willfully ignorant), but as long as Bioware ignores these problems it becomes less and less likely that I or anyone I know will continue to play. Which is unfortunate, as we've been following the development for years and had been quite excited about it....
  6. Well, I Would contend that if you don't want to play with others, maybe a massively multiplayer game isn't for you? Again, I don't think there should be NO solo content, I just don't think that solo content shouldnt give rewards on par with group or raid content, ever. This is a mistake that WoW made, and all it led to is that people who worked hard in groups to earn things felt disenfranchised when their hard earned rewards started being handed out for a few hours solo work.... and there being less reason to group or raid, which resulted in a break in the community, and then no community. Now that game is just a bunch of solo, entitled little ignoramus', all selfish and barely willing to work together for anything.
  7. I really do not understand why people don't get that someone would like positive changes made to the game (the game DOES have problems, it is not perfect), and that this sort of feedback is the way to get ourselves heard and hopefully get these changes made.
  8. I think the worlds are pretty good looking, so far. But I am wondering where the alien landscapes are? There seem to be a lot of earth-looking worlds. I want to see some more alien landscapes. While I do enjoy the look of the game, between the races they chose to have in at launch, and the worlds, I feel like they went a little too generic with it. Where are worlds like Felucia?
  9. My problem with this is that its an MMO rpg. Multiplayer implied in the very game type. That doesnt mean I dont think there should be soloable content, but that content should never result in rewards on par with what is attainable by grouping or raiding with others, in any aspect.
  10. I can agree with that. Certainly Nar Shaddaa focused on the city itself, and could hardly be much more open. But even on planets where it should be more wide open (Balmorra comes to mind), it still feels like corridors and rooms rather than an open environment. I just feel like emblems both homogenize aspects of the game, and ruin incentives to do multiplayer stuff. I mean, if you can just do quests / dailies for emblems, that is one less reason to get in groups. I can just remember when you could get different kinds of bags, carry a torch, maybe some lockpicks, and other types of gear on you that did different functional things, in older games. I just kind of abhor the simplification of MMORPG games in the last 5 years or so. =/ The thing is, even if the game runs amazingly for YOU, it still doesn't for a lot of people, and it is quite arguable not solely a hardware issue. From looking at the forums, looking at reviews, looking at other websites, etc, no one but someone either trolling or being blindly defensive of the game can claim there are NO performance issues on Bioware's end that negatively affect gameplay for many many players. I may try to do that, when I have the time. But for now, honestly, if someone doesn't care enough to take three minutes to read a few paragraphs, I probably don't honestly care about their opinion.
  11. Updating this thread. After the last couple patches, my computer will now run the game without any lag to speak of, but only on low settings, still. Kind of sucks but oh well. My girlfriend's computer will run it slightly better, but still not enough for her to enjoy it, and she is cancelling her sub and considering contacting the place she got the game to request a refund because of this. We can't play together, so it looks like if something more isn't done about the FPS issues, I will probably end up playing something she can play. On top of that, I have come to realize that some of the places they have put datacrons are annoying, stupid, and a platformer without the controls or responsiveness to be anything but a headache, which dampens my enthusiasm quite a bit (had a thread on that topic, but it got closed - SURPRISE).
  12. Thanks. I am bumping it again, since I took the time to write it and all.
  13. No point in having RP servers if the ruleset isn't enforced. Going to continue reporting every idiotic name I see. If I continue seeing them, I will spam tickets asking why their name hasn't been changed yet. *shrug* only takes a few seconds of my time.
  14. I quit playing WoW over a year ago, due to the dumbing down and homogenizing of the game. Started it at launch and watched as every single achievement I had made was handed over for free to any idiot with two hands to play the game. Sadly, between the platforming for datacrons being unresponsive and badly implemented, and what appears to be the same trend of no challenge and no reward for skill, in effect a welfare game, I don't know how much longer I will be playing TOR. Really wanted to love the game, but they need to ramp up the challenge and create some difficult to attain content, or I'm gone back to Lord of the Rings or some other game.
