  1. I can't really say much else, but trust me it's coming. It looks great, and you guys will enjoy it. Yes, lack of details suck, but they probably have a very valid reason for it. Just look forward to Gree, and give them time for Makeb.
  2. No see. This thread really isn't for you either, as James Ohlens first adventure outside of Single Player gameplay was SWTOR. He is better at single player gaming, and was not at all ready for anything beyond the KOTOR elements of this game that is typical with an MMO progression grind.
  3. I want chat bubbles. This **** is ridiculous. 100+ page thread over a year old and still no chat bubbles. I get your have to prioritize your work, but this should have been done during the UI revamp. I get scaleform is terrible, but make it happen.
  4. Honestly? Planets is going to depend on what new classes or races you give us. Ideally, I'd like to see the following planets Kashyyyk (We need dat wookies) Yavin IV Dantooine Dathomir (Rancors and Nightsisters are relative iconic for movie-goers as well as EU readers) Naboo (pretty iconic in SWG)
  5. Please remove the RNG factor from item token based turn in's. Generally, events are great for more casual gamers to attend, but feel frustrated if they can't get something as simple as a skin for their companion due to RNG. I'd say, go the route of WoW. Make all item token vendor based item non-RNG, but also don't allow them to be sold on the AH, and only gathered via questing and participating. Then, take some of the more upscale items you have, and maybe add them as RNG drops to a boss, or a token that is RNG, that will allow you to turn it in for a color crystal of your choice, or a rare mount on the boss. It gives enough flavor to the event, etc.
  6. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble. ADDONS DO NOT HAVE TO MEAN AUTOMATED OR ALERTED GAMEPLAY! However, I will tell you that I want API information with open LUA/XML so that I can modify the travesty they call an interface to be something palatable to my minimalistic senses. This does not mean that I want a mod to tell me when to move. I want to get rid of the ugly this game has forced down my throat, and smash it into the ground with something far more refined and beautiful. So please, for all you under educated mod nay-sayers. Get off your DBM and automation high horse.
  7. Solution: Please remove all romances and flirt options from the game. Rather than giving in to one side, and not the other, or then giving into both, and potentially making 1 unhappy. Entirely remove it from the game. It's the only absolutely fair and even way to do something. Personally, I play games to ESCAPE relationships and real life. If I'm playing a game, I play it to stick my lightsaber through an opponents head. Not to flirt with some blue Twi'liek with an establishment problem. Please remove ALL FLIRTS and ROMANCES from the game.
  8. More so that the game doesn't have an economy that revolves around money... Companions do all of your work, meaning there is no time investment from the player.
  9. I've had gold spam. Problem is, farmers don't sell for a gold where there is no market.
  10. Hey Folks, I want to touch on a few aspects of game design that I feel Bioware is coming in short. The overarching theme of this post will be 'control'. For those that may not be familiar with the definition of control, here you are. con·trol   [kuhn-trohl] verb, -trolled, -trol·ling, noun verb (used with object) 1. to exercise restraint or direction over; dominate; command. Now that we have that out of the way, I want to get to the meat of things. After playing multiple characters, including a 50, multiple 30+, and being in the beta since March of last year, I've decided that Bioware is exercising far too much control on SWTOR. I've worked in the game industry since 2005, as well as being an MMO gamer since SWG. I've seen quite a few "Prized Horses" in my days, and decidedly, I feel that for SWTOR to match up to the likes of WoW and GW2, they are going to have to remove the grip they have on what players are and are not allowed to do. User Interface Character Progression Companions Animations Macros Combat Log The preceding are a list of things that users have specifically called out since well before the release of the game in December. I've generalized the categories because I will go far more in-depth for each category, naming specific issues that I feel need improvement. Before I go into this, please again let me remind you that this is coming from ~7 years of Game Design + ~10 years of personal gameplay. User Interface: This is such a topic of taboo. Sadly, there seems to be many uninformed gamers who see the word and immediately attach a negative perception to it. Whether it be due to the fact that WoW commonly had you 'Reset UI' or simply because people feel that 'UI Mods' play the game for you. While there are some situations where the abuse of XML, LUA, and the API hooks is present, this does not by default classify all UI Mods as evil. In fact, it does something completely different. It opens up a whole new community of gamers. Since WoW was released, a large portion of Developers have started to see the benefits of WoW's API's. Specifically I'd like to call out games like Rift, as well as Warhammer. Both of these games support a customized UI, whether controlled in Rift's case, or open as in Warhammer. WoW however has supported the system far better than any other team, working with the community to implement necessary API for it to be successful. With that, users are able do things few other games can. Allowing the community to modify textures, fonts, etc. You think of something you can modify, and it can probably be shaped in some way, if you're willing to spend the time doing it. This openess has spawned quite a few communities, such as Curse.com, as well as WoWinterface.com for the two larger followings. Character Alignment: I've seen quite a few people call out the fact that they feel the fact that neutral alignment isn't full supported, as well as the fact that at times, your choices don't really seem to make sense, or truly affect your character in any meaningful manner. I can see the validity in these cases. I've noticed that Bioware has advertised 'Your Saga' but yet, I share some of the concerns for this as well. Ideally, I want to play the game I want to play, and not be penalized in any manner for choosing a light side choice because I think it makes sense. Save some aliens to fight for your side on Imperial? Makes sense, right? You'd think that bolstering your ranks for the future would be a good idea. Nope, that's some Light Side non-sense, what are you thinking?! Actions and situations like this need to go. Companions: I really like the idea of companions. The implementation has gotten a lot better throughout beta as well. Unfortunately though, I don't like the fact that Companions inherently limit my story, due to the fact that they are unable to fulfill multiple roles. Ever wanted to not have Khem Val out when you're a Assassin Tank? I know that's something I dream about! Now! What if Khem Val could have 2-3 stances that gave him entirely different abilities? Imagine a Khem Val DPS? Or better yet, a Tank? It doesn't matter, you play your companion how you want, so it fits your choices, and story the best! Ever wanted to use Blizz, but you're already a Powertech Tank and Mako just makes more sense? No worries, make him heal! Ideas about, I promise. Point is, this system has to be revamped so the player can control which companions they use, not purely because if they don't, they will die. Animations: I'll be upfront, this has gotten a lot better. Specifically animations inhibited the players responsiveness in combat, causing "ability delay". Bioware loosened up the slacks a bit to make sure it worked, but this was something that beta players gave feedback about consistently. Still, it's another example of Bioware setting in on their control, as they have an absolute need to make sure you finish an entire animations, even if for whatever reason it doesn't help you. Macros: Ah yes, Macros. The ability to make your life that much easier. A staple in most if not all AAA MMO's in the last 5 years, is suspiciously missing. Macros require the API hooks that I talked about a bit earlier in my breakdown. This is another facet of control that is causing unneeded grief on the community. Who wants to consistently click a frame when one could take a few moments to create a mouse over macro, that allows you to heal by dragging your cursor over a target? I know that a lot of people would! Who wants to have you hit your basic Rage builder if for any chance your other one is down? I sure would! Removing buttons off my bar and combining them would be glorious! Combat Log: Oh, the Min Max paradise. The combat log breathes life into the theorycrafters. The ability for one to see what works best by actually putting it into effect. No longer does one need to eyeball or form a hypothesis about what works, or doesn't. It allows players to see who is pulling their own weight, and who isn't. Can it be used for bad? Sure can. Many things can though, but it doesn't mean they aren't produced for the general population. Giving players the option is what matters, and allowing someone to improve through recognition of ones own failures is a great aspect of gaming. When you're in a group, if you kill the boss, there will be not one person there that can tell you if you did well or not. Are you doing your share of the work? Nobody knows! Big BW has said this is planned for the future, but frankly, the future cannot come fast enough. You've seen all the points I have to make, so now it's time to wrap it up. Control. Bioware has it in every corner. Prohibiting you from modifying your interface, checking your combat data, creating some sweet macros, being a neutral Bounty Hunter only looking out for his sweet Mako, his own backside, and whatever credits he can manage, to not pigeonholing you with a companion that doesn't really fit your play style, be it spec or alignment. These things are all important, and all things that Bioware has to loosen their grip on, and move towards a more open, option and choice base system. In closing - Give us the options, and let the Gamer decide if we want to use them or not! TLDR; Bioware likes to exert control on what we can and cannot do, and that design philosophy needs to change rather quickly.
  11. The thing we want Bioware is OPTIONS. Allow us to HAVE OPTIONS. Allow us to have a text overlay... Seconds Shorthand (1m25s) Veritcal Bar Clock Allow us to have OPTIONS of what to choose. Don't force us to do everything how you want. Control... Stop with the control. Let us have some FREEDOM.
  12. Because you played both classes doesn't mean you're the immediate authority on all balance related concerns when there is a clear and obvious difference between the allocation of stats on 2 competing items. Inb4 you're daft.
  13. You haven't read patch notes. Biochem is usless when they implement the nerf to the Re-usable stims, lolz.
