TY Bioware. I would suggest maybe getting CCCleaner and clean your registries, run your anti-virus programs, update drivers for everything on your pc, not just graphics cards. Like I said I am not having any problems cept maybe a little lag when im on a weak wireless signal, and thats not TOR's fault.

Sanquind
This really is a problem for a small group of players. Really, it is. And nothing that they do can seem to fix it either. However MOST players don't have problems indeed. People seem to forget that 5% is still a big number when there's, say, 1 mil or more active subs. (50,000 to be exact) And people that do experience issues are far more likely to complain (justly so) on the forums than players that don't experience forum issues. So on the forums it at least looks like there is a lot more than 5% that have trouble with it, while that isn't true.

Daeborn
It is the game when you play Rift, Conan, WoW, EQ2, etc. And you don't have half of the problems you get with this game. Zhit
If you have dual screens--run a few temperature monitors. TOR runs considerably hotter than other games. Why this game runs 10 degrees (Celsius) hotter than BF3 of Cyrsis 2 is beyond my pay scale. Bad enough the game is missing so much. If I have to spend $250 on a new video card because this one fries, I'm going to get pretty upset. I've been logging my temperatures for the last few days just in case... Hindricks
My game ran good during early access and for a couple weeks post launch, then some patch killed it for me. I can not chain abilities, takes forever to load into a zone, I actually got booted from a group because it took so long, takes 15 seconds to mount my vechicle. Had my game been jacked from the start I would be like Meh, my machine sux, it is a couple years old after all, but I was playign fine and then some patch jacked it all up. I use to could cast grav rounds and full auto's back to back. Now, i stumble thru out of sync animations and failing cast bars to were I have no idea what my character is trying to do. It certainly isnt responding to my commands anymore. So if Bioware wants to put me in the "5% tough break for you" crowd, so be it. But agin, my game ran fine at first. Now it dont. I got no game to "go back to" but I certainly am not letting my credit card be charged this month to remain in the 5% crowd.
LordBater
Bull crap Ohlen. I've lost track of the numbers of players with extremely high-end machines complaining about exactly the problem described in the article. So Bioware's stance is simply going to be to deny the issue exists and foist it off on "low-end machines?" My i7 with 12 gigs of RAM and HD6970 would like a word with you, Mr. Ohlen. I don't think the issue lies in you (specifically) having a problem. I think it lies in that people like me (with lesser specs - amd 6 core, 8 gigs ram, geforce 460gtx) having no problems at all, having it run very smooth, and being a much larger portion of the whole than you (people with high end specs and problems). Honestly, do you really think that BW would just dismiss this if the majority of their customers were experiencing it? You may feel like you should be in majority, but the way this has gone down shows that you very much are not. Look, it trully does suck that you have a good (spec wise, maybe not currently performing) machine and experience problems. I'd be angry too. But i have to think there is something else going on here above just a simple "your games performance sucks".

Jahl
I have had EVERY bug there is with this game, but not actually IN the game itself. Three patches have utterly failed for me (it's taken me upwards of 16 hours to get back in afterwards) When I quit the game it always means re-starting the PC, I've had it where none of my chars' show up, where there is no server list etc etc. IN the game itself.....plays like a dream, no fps issues at all, graphics work fine. Kunari
Hi Raggnarok, As is the case with any PC game of this scale, we will always have players who experience performance issues. It is impossible to have the game run optimally on 100% of machines due to various factors (lower end machines, ISPs, not meeting minimum specs, and more). The reality is that, based on the amount of forum posts and CS ticket volume in relation to the total player base population, most people aren’t experiencing performance issues. With that being said, we’ve been keeping a very close eye on forum posts from the players experiencing these issues and we are actively working to address these concerns. We thank you for your concerns, and please be aware that we are indeed constantly working to improve the game for everyone. Well, then I guess I should post. I am having some performance issue but I've never posted about them. There had already been Dev posts for my issues so I knew it was known and in the pipe for repair. Are any of my issues "game breaking"? No, annoying at most, but they don't prevent me from enjoying the game. Anubissangel
There most certainly are issues with how this game performs, and there are far too many instances with it running poor (when it shouldn't) for it to be a mere coincidence. For how it looks and for what graphical settings it has (that work as advertised), it has no business hogging up as much resources as it does. I don't have a monster rig like some here (Athlon 2 quad core@3.1ghz, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz, HD6850), but it should be more than enough to request decent performance in all areas (Every other game most certainly does), and I make sure to keep the OS clean and running smoothly. And while it generally is fine in PvE, warzones -most notably Alderaan- and fleet are a stutter heaven. I can live with poor performance in the fleet, but the PvP issues are close to being a deal breaker. The poor performance of this thing whenever a dozen people are on screen would be almost funny (MMO, right?), if it wasn't sad instead. I can load up WoW, select my mage, go to Alterac Valley and unleash aoe upon dozens of players while numbers fill my screen, half a hundred people around me engaging in the same perversion, and the experience would be completely fluid. Here, ten people mashing each others face in near Voidstar doors is, apparently, too much to handle without FPS dropping, game stuttering, people teleporting around and abilities taking 2 seconds to go off. At least now we know why the heavy sharding exists - this MMO isn't built to support the first M of said triad. No, I haven't messed with the .ini file, I haven't tried forcing AA, I have disabled shadows (along with trying to set everything on low), and yes I have put my pr0n download on hold (even though I sit on a 100MB connection), and my latency hovers around the 50-70 region. No, me and many others aren't man-apes who stumbled upon a PC for the first time with the dawn of TOR, and have been gamers for years instead, with different home-built systems to go along with the times, so all of that is so far beyond obvious that I feel silly for mentioning it. A mechanic might as well be asking if I, by chance, forgot to use the keys when I complain about not being able to start my car. Everything else, from single player games to MMOs, from strategies to FPS, with almost universally better graphics, runs just fine ... except for this game. Saying the fault is in the system and not the game and it's horrid optimization/engine is borderline insulting. More like, if the stars align, your specific PC components might turn out to be reasonably compatible with the game and performance might be decent. Then again I'm not sure what "decent" would mean for different people ... 20FPS while fighting over a turret in alderaan with everything set to "low" might seem good enough for some, but it certainly isn't for me. And certainly not from a game that's no BF3 The MMO in terms of looks. ^THIS. Well said sir. ...and for all the kids defending Bioware and saying nothing is wrong instead of actually calling bioware on this stuff and getting it fixed... have fun with an empty game in a couple months GUARANTEED When this game goes free to play and is dead in the water in a year or less remember that all you kids turning a blind eye to blatent issues helped contribute to SWTOR's demise. Actually if everything else runs fine than this, but the majority of people run this fine it does not mean that it is a problem with this. For example my friend always got random crashes in Battlefield 3 despite having a card more than adequate for it. Nothing else had problems. Rather than complain that the game was buggy and bad he researched and borrowed a graphics card and teh game ran fine. The result was that the problem was his and no one else'. Moral of the story is that if most people are running a piece of software fine while you are not with an almost identical rig, the problem is more rlated to something on your end than the company's end. VorpalCheese
First: I understand that it is almost impossible to have any game run 100% optimally on all systems. But on systems that far exceed the minimum requirements, there should be no significant issues affecting performance. And you might want to consider the reason your "ticket volume in relation to the total player base population" is down. It's not because people aren't having problems. It's more because your craptacular "Customer Service" reps keep closing tickets after giving unrelated answers and no solutions. Not even saying they're "passing them on." Hell, I got one that told me my "issue was resolved." Ah, no it wasn't. You are NOT being served well by your CS team (if you even have live bodies going through these tickets, that is) and it's reflecting very poorly on you guys (made worse by BW's dismissive statements in that article). I have consistently had performance issues with TOR relating to two circumstances: initially logging into the game (where all I get is a partial UI and no textures/sound loading for several minutes) and then every time I travel to a different planet. When I travel to a different planet, performance drops significantly and does not recover. I'm talking about going from 50+ FPS down to <20FPS. I have to restart the client to restore performance. On top of that your game, compared to all the modern games I've played, causes ridiculous amounts of heat to build up, to the point that I'm burning dust (and probably components). I do not have this issue with any other game, certainly not nearly to the degree TOR pushes it. With the system reqs the way they are, this should not be the case with your game. My system is not "low end" and my issues are not ISP-related, or anything so contrived. If I can play other modern games maxed out and with little issue and far less heat output, there is something wrong and it's not my system. BW, I love TOR. I really do. It's a fantastic game...but you need to be honest with your customers and you need to be proactive about fixing this. I'm not saying to tell everyone "our engine is broken," I'm saying you should acknowledge your customers' valid complaints and state/work toward remedying it. With an MMO, the worst thing you can do is give your customers the shaft like this. You will kill your game by bleeding subs, if only for gaining "that" reputation. My DxDiag follows this post, though I doubt you or any other BW rep will see and pass it along.

xsmspiffs
Well, keep white knighting. I for one won't resub after my free month ends, now that everything Bioware ever said was "well, basically no one is having this problem so go **** yourself" and "we are aware of it but don't expect us to fix anything trololo". There are actual game developers that can make games run smoothly. Guess I'll just give them my money. Ummm... where did you read that, 'cause it wasn't in what the OP posted, or in any link posted up to this point in the thread. A link would be good.
