  1. Both statements are very true . as you can see they are still fighting the ability to choose insisting that "you have to bribe people or no one will come "
  2. I completely disagree .... People who like or dont like somthing will do it regardless..... If a person is only motivated by 'stuff" they will act as you say .... if you have to bribe someone to do somthing they might not choose on their own ...it means it lacks popularity.. If what you said was true why did i voluntarily stop at eternal....there is more "rewards" at legendary ..so by your theory i should have been motivated to get the stuff even though i would not have had fun. Also bribing or forcing a choice skews what the actual result would be ..... its like putting coke and pepsi beside each other and saying if you by coke today will give you one free. the true pepsi people will still by pepsi and its possible might have outsold coke on that day ... ...,but coke will out sell pepsi because customers were bribed to by coke. Give people a choice let them choose their own path** without bribes** or forcing. If they want to pvp offer a pvp instance like they have ... If people want to group offer group queue If people want to solo offer solo options If one choice turn out not to be popular ...well that is what freedom of choice is all about. Why do you have such a hard time with that proposal...is it because given a fair playing ground you fear what might happen ? But hey the amount that group and pvp players are complaining on here I can see why you would want "incentives" you need them to get any interest.
  3. LOL you been watching too much american politics.... sounds like you are running for office with that speech. Another thing i said before I dont care if you were the first person to ever long on to the server No one including me has any more weight or importance than someone on their first day playing. If you think your time here makes you more important that just speak negatively on you imo. its also what i would classify as one of the characteristics of an "elitist" Completely disagree with everything you said. Also this post was also a nice cover to add some advertising for your "event" completely off topic. ****It's almost like you got a speechwriter and a marketing team to write that post for you**** Who are you trying to impress and sell with all this speech about how wonderful you are ? You hide behind "oh its ok for you to be that " but then follow up " But I am playing the game how it supposed to be played because if you don't group and pvp you're not doing anything for the community." If you want to blame beware because people don't like to group or pvp without being bribed that is your opion. If you supported all types of play you wouldn't oppose freedom of choice . At least I say go ahead offer both let the playbase decide offer both options without incentives on either side and let player base decide. It also my opinion that PVP has no business being in the general instance when it can be abused the way some have abused it. I say good job BIoware for thinking of your player base and putting it on its own instance I stand behind everything in my post and really think this response has about as much merit as that of a desperate politician trying to win a campaign. Bioware didn't kill pvp player choose not to participate. Anyways it seem neither of us is going to change the other person mind and we both responded to the others position so . Anything more said will just be more verbal sparring with nothing new and really you're not worth my time anymore.
  4. So much salt and exaggeration... your posts are amusing LOL Yes keep blaming Bioware if it makes you feel better even you have right to your opinion I play at max settings and rarely see lag ... but the fact is.Players killed open world pvp /servers because they dont want to do it .. open world pvp is still there you know... you just have to "choose " to join instead of automatically being in one to bother people who dont want to deal with it . That word "choice " again ...it tells all There is nothing stopping a player from "choosing" to go into a pvp instance so if its "dead" its not bioware's fault but a result of player choice. I dont want other players to leave ... I simply want "choice" to not have to pvp or group . There is a difference ... and yes i do think there is a subset of gamers that are elitist but that's not the "only" reason. It quite amusing how much some people lash out when others are given a "choice" to do something or avoid it .
  5. ^ so much this ..i have been a victim of that myself . I'm glad its gone
  6. OP I disagree with every opinion you stated and the above t is basically what i got out of it this post as well. Not original in any sense just your same old rant ...
  7. Lana of course You welcome to your opinion but in mine i feel that is a extremely outdated viewpoint ...forums are dying out in general sense replaced by other other forms of social media. Do you even realize how small of a percentage of the actual player base actually visits this forum? that is not an actual question since there can be no official answer but from what i have seen and read from various sources I would estimate its miniscule.
  8. Your welcome to your opinion but here is mine ... ****the entitlement is strong in this one **** I disagree with the posts i have read of yours in a general sense. and find this comment especially *facepalm* worthy
  9. & PlasmaJohn since you both basically have the same view point. That is your opinion and you have the right to it you're right that might make "some" players happier. I say some because for the people who dont participate in those activities your examples have no effect on them All that does i s serve the interest of a small subset of niche players and people who "need" GTN as a way of making credits IMO As credits are very easy to come by I dont think that would really make much of difference I see no value there for bioware and , the game itself or "players " in a general sense. As for word of mouth i would take someone who is subbed or has spent a consider amount on cc that says hey this is a great game i been subbed for x amount of time / spent x amount of $ on the cc market you should check it out . than hey come check out this game you and totally freeload of its ftp system. IMO I still stand by everything I said .. keeping FTP the way it is or making it more restrictive is better for the overall health of the game and more fair for the people who do financially support it. Again this is just my personal perspective and opinion you may disagree and have a differnt one which is perfectly fine.
  10. ^ This That is asking more information than they would want to revel. I can understand that to . Hopes 8 ball is wrong Much as the title extremely important question ( especially regarding Kira ) that i would like to know the answer to Ii am content to just wait till they are ready to reveal it in their whenever they feel its appropriate to do so unlike some I am fine with their current communication level. IMO Its their game they have the right to decide what we should and shouldn't know. If they run it the same way we probably wont know what companion is coming out till a couple weeks before the episode is released.
  11. its not an attitude its an opinion. "having players " for the sake of "having players " is not good if the majority of those players dont support the game in a financial way. I dont believe "free players" add "value" in any way "simply by being here" . I did acknowledge the ones who do though CC purchases, If the players want "play casually and have fun" they can do so with the current system. as I already stated IMO Bioware is already being too generous so naturally I believe they dont need a "less restrictive" environment to do so as I stated in my original comment
  12. I run WIn 10 and logged in to check I am in game right now no login issues personally i have been running smoothly at max settings with no lag or other tech issues at all . It may be a glitch on your system. Check to see if Swtor has a "repair" function ..if it does not I would suggest a reinstall. If both of that does not work try reverting back to before that update and see if you can log in if you can maybe the update itself didn't install properly and causing issues.
  13. Just my personal opinion but I think it would be the wrong type of players . I personally believe they are already Too generous with the FTP if they do any adjusting it should be the other way and make it more restrictive. IMO FTP should have the absolute minimum possible. The system is jsut meant to get a taste of the game not play it indefinitely. There are some that do support the game with cc purchases that make them valued contributors ... but I suspect the majority as with all FTP try to exploit and truly "freeload" off the system
  14. If you could pull that off with the "net reward" being equal but with prizes a solo player doesn't need or want ( comms expertise etc etc ) and both player being able to fully "finish" the event ( in the same way you complete a mission) that might work ...I would have to see in action it to make a final judgement
  15. Its not just the packs is also about being able to "finish" the event , No if you read my revised statement and compare it to the one you quoted , this was a unique event though so with this type of event that may not have been possible . If i have to give a positive about it I am glad that all the stuff that is a top ..is at the top so all I am missing is one level.
  16. I have already I agreed with this in the " normal day to day " type section stuff my revised version of my opinion after your comment
  17. Khevar sorry i really dont understand you comment ... i'm sorry if my response misses your point . complaining about soloing in what is mainly story based rpg mmo (using the actual definition of a mmo that states that all you need to be an mmo is an environment that multiple people can interact with in real time ) and not a group based mmo seems illogical to me when compared to my suggestion that both parties be treated equally with 2 paths so that no one has to miss anything. GrandLordMenace - you answered your own question in your own post and just made my point . Grouping is not as popular as some would have you believe and this is not a "group centric" game . There Should not be any benefit....if you give people 2 choices that lead to the same result ..and they choose to solo....that means they dont want to group. People who truly want to group dont need a "reason" to group. As i said i am all for Bioware giving all the options to group . If people choose not to take those options . It is up to the players to find people who want to group for the simple reason that is the way they prefer to play 1 . If you need to "force" or "bribe" people to join a group how is that fair to people who would not choose to group given the choice ? 2. Also would you not rather have a group filled with people who wanted to be there because they genuinely like to group, enjoy the group experience and want to accomplish somthing as part of a team ....rather than being there simply because there is a "carrot " at the end that they want ? 3. If you take option 2 would that not in the end lead to a better experience that is more enjoyable and less stressful because everyone is on the same page to you? I dont think you would want me or someone who shares my beliefs on your team if i didn't want to be there and just wanted "stuff" as an example TBH I didn't really put that much effort into the pvp matches i was forced to join to get the eternal qualifications.
  18. Reading your comment I realized I didn't state my opinion clearly enough I have since edited it. I only got up to eternal but it says i have completed (50%) of the event doing the requirements for legendary would have been more of a P.I.T.A because of the group and "hard mode" requirements than enjoyment .
  19. Disclaimer- You are entitled to you opinion but i am also entitled to state mine . Even though I do not do group content Do not take this statement as I am against "group content " in general sense as I have explained before I am against the attitude that some group oriented people have that think they are on the top of the food chain because of their definition of "mmo" and "mmo are here to service them because "mmo" . Not group content in general. [/disclaimer] I have pretty much stay out of this since my other comments because of the above disclaimer but i just had to put in my voice on this specific comment I completely disagree with ANY form of Bribed or forced grouping in any MAJOR events (like DLV, Monthly, quests (hk) etc" ) . As well as in "day to day" (op, hm, non solo fp) unless is for VERY MINOR cosmetic value ( titles achievements cosmetic armor ..mounts ...) things that really dont matter or affect the game or story. like the credits for group for heroics ..credits are easy enough to come by it does not affect anything really. how many people do you think would bother group if it wasn't there though? perfect example of "bribed" grouping The post I quoted from GrandLordMenace also just proves another theory I presented Grouping should be a "choice" not "reward" You should do these thing because you enjoy doing them. If someone is having so much trouble getting a group together or waiting to long for ques to fill or finding groups that is an indication that feature is not that popular . As i mention ( and inb4 well it the event was meant" to showcase all that swtor has to offer" i agree that could have been a factor ) but still this DVL event is a prime example of both forced and bribed grouping If you want to add something major or a major prize similar DLV event fine ... as i said above just offer a solo play version of it with the exact same prize or outcome so there is no benefit to doing it either way. If the group ques dont fill because of that "choice" to group or not to group that is not the devs problem or the communities problem The devs did their part by adding the que and giving the community that resource If it does not fill it is not the devs "Fault" it simply means the community as whole has choosing not to take advantage of that particular feature It then falls on the individual player to find a guild or other players on their own that share the same views. if someone "can't" as i know someone will state that for whatever reason ...again that is not the devs or community's problem bui the individual's players problem to resolve.
  20. The above poll has ended here is the results Votes 3937 Jedi Knight 46% Smuggler 25% Trooper 15% Jedi Consular 14% That was cool Bio thanks
  21. Knight class because kira <3 I also enjoyed the story the most
  22. that is what I meant considering the image i posted and the most recent event.. ..it seems It seemed self explanatory to me given the image I attached . I guess i should reconsider what is " self explanatory" I agree with this great post Tuxs. You surprised me I washed my hands of responding to this thread but you actually made a post of high quality that was worth tthe time for me to come back . I am not against group content just people bad immature/elitist attitudes / or being "forced" to do it. Attitudes like ... " group content most important part of the game " "mmo means group content deal with it" "only group content gives actual replayability" ( stated as a fact in a general sense ) ( If that all you like to do then fine its an opinion not fact same with "Endgame" if you think "endgame should be a certain way that is an opinion not fact .) " if you dont like it go play a single player game " bad attitude and a very childish response These forced grouping and attitudes are what i have a issue with not the idea or implementation of group content . This event is a good example of forced grouping. Also People who oppose solo aspects of group activities. example of a statement People who oppose solo versions of FP .. I can just imagine the rage if they started doing that with ops . This suggestion was made regarding the event but could be for any other content similar to how they are doing solo FP i made this suggestion to improve the next event Another example how this could be achieved is the preparation for the battle with Reven . there were two routes an op and solo path. The devs themselves were responsible for "forced grouping" as you could not complete this event without joining the group activities. How ever a segment of player would also complain because if too much of the community made the choice to complete the solo path peole would start ranting .. "the que timers are so long because there i s no point to join a group if you could just do solo and get the same result" "its impossible to find a group now devs " which translates to : force others to play the game my way because everyone is choosing to do it solo and i dont want to have to go look for a guild or people of the same mind so I can play the way I want to If this was the case it would not be the devs fault the community choose not to group. My whole point is freedom of choice it always has been I hope that clears things up for you Tuxs and although i dont agree with a lot of your posts I do give credit where credit is due and hope that this helps to understand my position better.
  23. The only reason I am coming back to this thread is because an inaccuracy was told about me personally i am not new I just wanted to clarify that for random people who read this so they are not misinformed I have been around for years . in game mailbox was qualified for ealy acces and have many toons. While i'm here Tux - its not the fact you like group content i have issues with ..its the attitude that MMO are only here to service "group" players . If you lkie that fine ...but if you think its the pillar that holds the game up then we have to disagree. I stand behind everything i said .
  24. Nope i meant egos some believe that MMO exist simply to serve the "group minded " community and that any MMO that does not is "doomed" Honestly imo i think they could take out all the ops and any other group type activity and the game would survive just fine . I'm not saying this to disregard what other like to play simply to state that the game wouldn't "die" without it . This is not the case by definition any game that allows multiple people to access the same environment at the same time is a MMO regardless of the "group content" you could and there is games that exist today that do not "rely" on group content and are still considered "mmo". There is even a "mmo" that has nothing but player created content with no structure to it at all ( second life ) So basically your saying there is a difference between running the same story content over again and running the same op over again LOL ...that's just **facepalm** what actually constitutes "replay value" is also a opinion not a fact the same with "challenge " does not make a "good game" to differnt types of people as well. For example in my opinion the game has an over abundance of replay value and i like the current "challenge" level After running a couple toon though all 16 chapters and raising my alliance i just started yet another new Knight and am doing all the planets completely again full new armor from the event all legacy xp and the xp boosts from quests I am level 35 with all 34 level mods just starting tatooine and still having a great time . except for the unbiased and factual definition of what a "mmo" is that i posted ...look it up on google some time. Any way ...that is all i have to say regarding this in this thread ...If you dispute anything i have stated that's your opinion and you're welcome to it.
  25. OP just FYI your thread seems to be a copy of an already existing one you may find more answers here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=895282 ______ Other commenters Judging your version of "endgame" based what you like to play .... There is a lot of content end game ...just stuff you may not "agree" with. Its some players egos and misrepresentation of "mmo" that lead them to the belief that " end game" is all about various group activities that may be "end game" for you and that's fine but its an opinion not fact. My personal opinion of the FTP system is that it is already too generous .
