  1. So, I entered Tier 2 on Sunday and got 11 crates since then. In the last one, I got the first legendary set piece (boots) for my tank. I got a 234 set-piece some crates before and 2 implants (blue 234) in the first 2 crates of tier 2. So, all in all, I am happy. I also completed my Gear with crafted 240 Mods, 228 Augments and 230 Enhancements. Main- and Offhand were also upraged with crafted 234 armoring & hilt. All in all, two weeks after launch, my tank is geared to enter every HM and some NiM's and I got ~30 Voidmatters left, to craft some things for my commando. At the moment, I'm not really sure, how to use the same mods and enhancements in healer- & dps-gear by keeping different set-bonuses.

you just don't. you can share 1 piece of gear between the sets that's it. because you need different armorings for set bonus and different enhancements for accuracy which you need for dps, but certainly not for healz lol.

of course you could try getting left side gear for accuracy... but since you already need to change 6 armorings every time you respec it just makes more sense to keep a DPS gear set and a healer gear set. well... that's what i do at least

  2. I I did mess up majorly once, mostly because I was used to playing a different class and bonuses sorta sounded close enough (both tech healing ones) so I basically ended up with 2 piece bonus on a merc and 4 piece on operative, instead of 6 piece on a merc like I was supposed to (too used to playing an operative). it was a complete derp, but at the same time, taking a choice out of player's hands completely is not a solution to that.

they could have copied something that Blizzard did that was actualy good. where rather then going to vendor, you can just click on your token and it turns into a set piece. its based on your current spec, but even then - they could have just created an interface where you are given and option to chose the role you want the piece for and bam - all the issues with players accidentally picking out wrong piece - solved.

keep in mind, Jewel. that takes effort. but the idea is a very good one. especially since they already created a new and shiny interface for opening command crates and Cartel Market crates. why not set bonus as well? 0.o lol

  3. Simplicity is definitely the key. Whatever BioWare ends up doing to make obtaining certain pieces more easier, it will be as simple and straight to the point as possible. The team has gone through great pains to discard excess features and really streamline everything. They aren't about to just complicate things again by putting systems on top of systems.

but like.... a vendor is NOT a system. and they've been around for 5 year..... i'm sure we're all familiar with how to read abilities and see if we have them or not.:D:D

i mean they've already simplified so many things, a bit ore and it will be a giant sandbox. aside from some veteran/master content and pvp it's all too easy as it is lol:D:D i hear SW:G used to be MUCH harder than this lol

  4. as much as I would like unassembled, I don't think it will happen. According to BW many players weren't able to figure out the different currencies and which set/vendor was for their advanced class/spec. The pieces dropping for spec are to eliminate the confusion some apparently had in determining this.

But being able to trade one set piece for another would be a nice thing - but again, not something that I think would happen.

seriously? 0.o i mean i once managed to get a vanguard piece for my commando lol. but that was just once. since then i've learned to read which abilities are mentioned in set bonus and see if i have those or not lol..... it don't require much brain i don't think... i mean... even i managed lol:D:D:D

  5. 1. They have mentioned a vendor to buy gear from a couple times now. My speculation is once you attain max level of a Command Rank for a tier you will be able to buy any missing pieces. It is the only thing that makes sense to do with the horrid RNG system.

    2. Alts will probably have some purchasable CXP bonuses. This will be disappointing if so, or it needs to be significant.

On a separate topic - all the "vocal minority" crap I've heard many times around here lately you can throw that out of the window. They obviously have a problem on their hands and why they are doing yet another live stream & planning to make a change in 5.1 just a couple weeks in. They are bailing water whether you want to admit it or not.

I know you have been proponent of RNG, which is mind boggling to me, but very few people like this type of system. It's appalling that any game company would do it and is why they are already going to change it.

well, if there is a vendor, then why would i be unable to purchase gear for my alts from said vendor? unless of course they make it so u can't buy gear that's not for your class.... which is probably what will happen now that i think about it lol:D:D

  6. I am very much looking forward to see what the team has to say about upcoming updates and tweaks with regard to Galactic Command. I wouldn't get my hopes up that BioWare is planning massive, sweeping changes. That is not what 5.1 is meant to achieve. It's clear all BioWare is interested in doing is merely supplementing the system already in place. BioWare's goal is to provide more certainty in the system, but RNG is not going away. We'll see what BioWare does in regards to alternate characters, as that should also be quite interesting.

now this post i can actually agree with :eek: christmas miracle =):D:D

so long as it helps me get my set bonus lol. cause with my type of luck my count will stay at 1 piece... 2 at most by the time i crawl to tier 2:D:D and NO, i'm not whining, i'm making an educated guess based on my overall RNG success over the years =)

  7. Actually in this case I don't agree. Now, I am not saying that I will be jumping for joy after the livestream on Thursday but it's not the usual we're looking into it.

They are in fact actively making a patch to address some issues that they correctly identified and they are going to tell us about these plans in the livestream. So that is rather more than just looking into it. It's 5.1 in January they are talking about.

Again, I won't say I'll be happy on Thursday without knowing what they are planning to do, but there is a glimmer of hope and I shall watch the livestream with an open mind.

If it's not good enough, don't worry, I'll tell them, but I can at least appreciate that they're not waiting 6 months to address these topics.

will u re-sub if it looks promising enough? :D:D

  8. Thats my same thinking.

His post on 5.1 doesn't really say much beyond their looking and hearing but none of that matters if they don't understand the issues with what they created and as of right now, I cannot say bw understands the problem with GC grind, the terrible RNG system they implemented with what has clearly little testing or how badly it affects alt play.

true, but to be looking into it, they first have to realize there is a problem to look into. so. it's a start =):D:D

  9. Well then. Welcome everyone to thread #8 by your truly.

I will try to talk about both good and bad things brought to us by BioWare in 5.0 of SW:TOR KOTET.

Let's start with the good things. What are those? well... let's see:

    1. KOTET story (well, the chapters were very engaging the first time that's for sure... oh that reminds me, i should go and finish them:D)

    2. GC as the general idea and i'm not the only one to think so, for example:

GC has the possibility to be good and interesting for all. Thats not a bad thing.

    3. All those people who previously couldn't obtain BiS gear cause of such and such reasons (lack of time, lack of skill, lack of group, lack of interest, bad timezone and etc) now can eventually get it;

    4. You can literally do whatever you want and still get some points towards your next gear box.

    5. Has potential to be inclusive not only for raiders and pvpers but for new players as well.

And now it's time for the bad things.

    1. Lack of content to go along with the CXP grind and the huge terror-inducing size of the said grind

Whoever thought RNG was some kind of Godsend to swtor was sadly mistake.

Combine that with no reason to run alts.

Massive grind just to see a "chance" at gear.

Doing most of that grind with extremely old content.

and all while any of those are terrible. Toss in RNG gearing crates and well the whole thing just stinks.

It's going to back fire on them. People are going to start to experience the grind/rng and give up. The only people that will be left are the few that will be able to stomach it or only play one character.

They are alienating a good % of their population. And no, it is not top tier players only. It's all levels from casuals to top tier, and frankly I find it odd (trying to be nice) that there is anyone that does not see this.

if you are doing solo content especially it starts taking hours between each new command crate pretty darn quickly. its a little faster if you can grind uprisings or whatnot, but we are still talking a gap that will ONLY get bigger. the expansion dropped a week ago for early acess and we already starting to see the gap. the gap will NOT get smaller. it will get WIDER. and newcomers or casuals? are SoL. because grind is all there is.

the Command Crates RNG system means a person can get a full set of the best Tier 1 gear in the first 15 levels of GC, another might not see any piece of it before entering Tier 2. They have enabled the operations path the fastest way to grind up the levels of galactic command, but your risk by doing operations to get tokens for CXP is not the reward v risk model.

    2. here it comes. the thing most people certainly do NOT appreciate about 5.0 - change in gearing system. it now depends on... *drum-roll*.... RNG.

So after watching last night producers livestream i started to wonder about this what they said there - apparently Bioware like randomness when you play game and get rewards.

So i thought why not make Ben and other Bioware staff salary starting from next year each month as random surprise?

I think its quite EXCITING to work like this dont you think?

    Its like christmas every month!

GC has potential to benefit all but RNG does not do that as part of gearing in GC.

Letting any gamer do whatever content they want for gear is pretty good but it's the RNG factor that is FUBAR. Stains the entire potential of GC.

The Command Crates has the potential to be a good system. The ability to get decent gear (or BIS even) from pure chance is a benefit, this allows those who do not do operations a chance of getting the great gear in the game plus a lot of other goodies, this is commendable. But, the best gear in the game should and always come from the performing the highest risk activities, I.E. Veteran (Hard Mode) and Master (Nightmare) Operations.

    3. no catch up mechanic for new players and alt characters

this system makes it IMPOSSIBLE for them to catch up. prior to that - it was actually more inclusive, because no matter when you started playing, you could catch up and be on par with veterans. now? thanks to the time consuming grind that you CANNOT circumvent? new players will never. EVER catch up. casual players have no chance. this system is the exact opposite of inclusive.

    4. no control on what gear you get. you might get set-bonus piece. but chances are it's not a piece you need.

Once I hit rank 50 with only two set bonus pieces I realized that my chances of getting a complete tier 1 set was slim to none. I wouldn't be shocked if I never got a complete set of any tier. Good thing I don't take this game seriously anymore. Lmao

Basically its not going to be possible to rely on GC crates to gear.

    5. CXP boost on cartel market. While some people use it, we see it being called a scam quite a lot:D

Bottom line - the system is done only for the sake of artificially extending subscription times, and for BW to sell boosters for CXP. It serves absolutely nobody, not raiders and sure as hell not casuals, and is deliberately designed to hinder their progress in all ways possible. Bioware showed no desire to ease this ******** on us, as their instant-nerf illustrated. I wish they would be just as quick with bug-fixing. As such, system should be KILLED WITH *********** FIRE. And all the people white-knighting this system - how much are you guys getting paid?

    6. lack of understanding / knowledge about what kind of time people need to invest in their gear.

this post really summed up pretty well:

1.2 : 1 day doing flashpoints the entire day (from 1.0 to 1.2, I was doing things solo and didn't gear up any toons.

This time is what it took me once I decided to gear it up)

2.0 : 2 weeks doing TfB and S&V with a raid group and pugging a bit with alts.

3.0 : 2 weeks between my main raid group and pugging with alts.

4.0 : 1 week, ran quite a few operations that first week and I got my full set.

5.0 : I don't have a full set bonus on 1 toon yet, my best is 4/7 after 70 ranks and spending a lot more time and effort to get that set piece than for any other expansions.

    7. aaand of course there is also lack of communication, which admittedly is a ongoing trend:D:D but it does make people more annoyed than they already are.

And all that brings to my next point. (yes there is actually another one except make another RNG thread for forum PvP lol)

We're having a patch today. We're promised some rise in CXP gains from some stuff, such as uprisings (boring as they may be, but oh well lol). So who knows MAYBE things might start looking better at least on the account of how long you need to grind. But. In my opinion, and i'm sure i'm not the only one to provide such ideas / suggestions / etc is this:

honestly, the idea behind Galactic Command is pretty good. ...... but the thing that is not is lack of new content to go with it. as far as RNG and drops. i feel like this would fix it best:

---> instead of set bonus drop for a specific spec, let it be an unassembled token, level of token would be based on your galactic command rank.

---> let Set Pieces drop in HM & NiM ops again.

---> have PvP award you tokens that u can also turn in based on on your tier of galactic command, like comms used to be. for 2 tokens you can choose a belt or bracer, for 3, 4, 5 - something else and so on

just a thought really. i think it might work, not too sure though.... not that BW is gonna listen though. but i thought i'd throw it out there lol:D:D

now that i've said can we have a constructive discussion before it derails into post-count fluff? :D:D:D

  10. Bingo. Quoting September stats which are prior to the massive upset of the CxP is useless. As an example, here are the October stats: https://www.superdataresearch.com/blog/ (see Dec. 1 blog post Worldwide Digital Games Market: October 2016)

    *snip*

In one month, since the quoted report in the OP, MMOs in general declined several spots. The real effect of what the CxP system has done to the sub base won't be known until the February 2017 reports from Superdata. That's when the 30 day subs who come back just for story and only sub for one month, and the long term subs fed up with the CxP system that unsubbed will be known. If SWTOR drops off the Top 5 completely, after so much time there, then you will in fact know how terrible the CxP system idea was.

well.... that link... has to do with China... since China doesn't even allow SWTOR through their window that is considered internet i don't think we need to count in regulations like that lol:D:D:D and yes i know that was likely not the point

  11. I use the term "trool" for this...troll+tool

hmmmm that kinda makes sense i guess. though, i wouldn't really say tool applies in this case, he does show a good written language most times and unlike Furh for example doesn't quite look down on people as much (again this is an opinion that formed reading his posts in our RNG threads cauldron. and more often than not that guy is quite snappish towards others. i might have formed a false opinion there of course and if so i apologize. just comparing the 2 lol).:D:D

P.S.:: i do like your sig btw

  12. well now level 37 without a set item lol.

well, if it's any help, i got my first and only set piece at box #44. and promptly realized that i didn't even have a choice on which spec i wanted the SB for x.x like... seriously.... looks like it's for hte spec you are currently in..... unless of course they even made that part random:eek::eek::eek:

  13. Good morning.

    Well trolling is tricky...*snip*

He said something about people needing to get back on topic because the discussion was fruitful up to then. It wasn't. People were stuck in their camps, repeating themselves. That's not fruitful unless you want to include bitter fruits. The thread needed comic relief simply because it wasn't going anywhere, just in circles. I wouldn't mind if he explained why he thinks this thread was fruitful when people were just trying to get to 1000 posts. I'd actually really like to know if he sees something positive there, because I am open to that. Just not expecting him to come up with anything that holds any water.

Good morning to you too =) thank you very much for explanation =) Having read the post i'm also unsure if we're being trolled or just unlucky to have an opponent who's very unyielding in his stance and unwilling to allow the other point of view to be as anything other than an annoyance lol.:D:D

as far as RNG and dealing with RNG i think it would work out well like this.

---> instead of specific set pieces we should have unassembled tokens drop from crate. just like pieces drop now, but with the ability to decide which SB we want =)

    ---> allow HM and NiM raids to drop SB tokens instead of CXP;

---> let PvPers earn some sort of tokens that can be cashed in for unassembled SB piece.

this way you can get SB from raids, or PvP or if neither is your thing or you want some variety you can still grind your GC ranks :D:D

or alternatively allow tier 1 pieces to be bought for X amount of credits once your command rank goes into tier 2; tier 2 pieces would be available when you're tier 3. and at rank 300 you are able to buy tier 3 pieces :D:D:D

either one of those solutions would allow to overcome mega-bad RNG lol. and be a bit more alt-friendly :D:D

  14. I've tried to do those. I keep getting stuck with random people who can't even handle clearing story mode ones. None of my in-game friends want to do them because they're just more waves of trash followed by a miniboss, just like a lot of the story chapters. Not that interesting or rewarding to play.

exactly. i tried to do one. i am a dps but lately i find that i have to respec healz all the time, cause otherwise all group keeps dying over and over, even if they have their own self-healz. and after doing the one uprising i was like... and what the heck was the point of this? 0.o booooring lol:D:D:D

  15. You are incorrect, there are at least three ways of moving out of Group C which rely on player agency:

C1 - Players unsub and stop receiving any gear and stop playing. Each player that does so reduces the size of Group C.

C2 - Players unsub and stop receiving any gear. They continue to play [as preferred], gaining credits, but no GC crates. With credits, they can purchase the gear of their choice from the GTN. Again, this decreases the size of Group C.

C3 - Players continue to play and eventually get better gear. For any *finite* number of rolls, this isn't guaranteed, but if BW (as they have said they would) monitors the situation and takes action, players eventually move out of Group C.

C4 - Players in Group C never die, the universe (and the game) doesn't end, so every nonzero chance event eventually occurs.

    to escape unlucky RNG:

-->stop playing - if i was gonna do that, i'd already done so don't you think?

--> unsub & play F2P (pref) - with how many restrictions there are on F2P it's simple cancer. it was that way when i started playing and i only had to play for a week or 2 or realize that no i didn't want to play with that many restrictions going on lol. also the cap on credit limit for F2P and pref i believe is quite small.....

-->spend millions on buying gear off the GTN - well yeah... if i had 100mil+ it MIGHT be a valid option, except not all of us are good at making money, so certainly not everyone can actually AFFORD buying gear of the GTN.

--> just continue on - well, at a certain point bad luck will annoy you to hell though... and yes they do say they're monitoring the situation and thinking about ways to improve.... i wonder how they didn't manage to realize this would happen before it happened? i mean there was the PTS period.... and it's common sense to know that for every lucky person there would be AT LEAST one unlucky one.... and hten again they keep saying they are thinking about new group content all the time... doesn't mean we actually see that much of that group content lol.

    :D:D:D

then again that's just my opinion:D:D:D
