  1. Gear should never be the deciding factor in PVP, in any MMO, and it clearly is today in TOR 50v50. People should want to PVP because its fun, and they enjoy it, the reward is the PVP itself, not approaching PVP as work, or a chore, that must be done for weeks in order to start having fun. Clearly there are internal statistics in place at BWA showing that PVP is not seeing a lot of new level 50 PVP'ers taking part in PVP because of the massive gear divide. And this is a great way to address it imo. Hardcore, and people with a ton of free time, will always feel that they're entitled to bigger and better because of their time invested, but rewarding time, and not skill, will see fewer and fewer people joining 50v50 PVP. I don't know why MMO developers think that players need a gear grind timesink, and thus believe that this in turn will translate into time played, and money spent by the player. It only leads to burnout. People will continue subbing if they're having "fun". Levels 10-49 PVP is incredibly successful right now, because its fun, because everyone feels that they can be effective. Warhammer Online had a very accessible PVP gear attainment arch imo.
  2. I decided to roll an Operative after the nerf, I'm a glutton for punishment. I also figured that a lot of people would jump off the bandwagon, leaving a lot of extra room for me to get gear. I have a 50 BH and when I first started playing the class it wasn't unusual to have a group of 4 BH's running through a Flashpoint. I'm only level 20 on my Operative, but the PVE damage is VERY low as compared to an equal level BH (my only base for comparison), I have little to no AOE damage, and I spend a lot of time trying to position myself behind my target in PVE to get off a Backstab. In Flashpoints the mobs are usually dead before I even get to them, making my role in the group feel rather unneeded. The BH on the other can solo through content at the same level in a third of the time, and with zero downtime. Lets face it; the Operative is a melee class, but unlike some of the other melee classes in the game we do not have a closer ability. I love being able to stealth around, I like the idea of the Operative I'm just not crazy about the execution. And I've never seen a class in any MMO undergo so many drastic changes so soon after release?
  3. If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull.
  4. Go join a Warzone and then come back and post your results.
  5. If you think that EA is merely a publisher and that they don't have people heavily involved with this MMO, or any other project, you're misguided. EA has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into this MMO, to not be involved would be gross mismanagement on their part. Dr Ray Muzyka and Dr Greg Zeschuk are both part of the EA management team btw. Go Google them.
  6. WoW's problems at launch were more hardware related, I remember loot lag. But I don't remember them having the issues that TOR has right now. I was in the WoW beta, I played WoW for 7 years. WoW wasn't as ambitious as TOR is, and as such, it certainly didn't have the bugs that TOR has. I've been waiting for TOR for a long time, the game is playable and a lot of fun. But I must admit that I am surprised by the amount of issues in the game. In time they'll be addressed, and people like me (fanboys) will be around to see that day. But there are a lot of other ppl that won't be, the damage is done for those folks. And its sad because this game is a diamond in the rough.
  7. I can sorta live with ability lag/delay in PVE, in PVP I cannot accept it. EA had the same issues with Warhammer Online and they were never able to address it. Where it stands now I do not know. But I do know that I have waited for this game for a long time and if this is not addressed I cannot see subscribing long-term. IMO PVP will make or break SWTOR for me, right now I cannot play in a Warzone, I get dizzy from the lag.
  8. I'm having the same problem atm, but I also have an older computer. I'm waiting for a new computer to arrive to see if that helps. But yes, all of my reactions and abilities and delayed anywhere from 1-3 seconds regardless of the Warzone. Otherwise I'm not having any problems.
  9. I think the consensus right now, outside of the Scoundrel community, is that their DPS is on the high side in PVP and needs to be toned down quite a bit.
  10. I'm rolling with Pyro for PVP as well. My question is - are people going with crit-based gear, power? Also, how much attention are you paying to Expertise? Its off, in some Warzone's I can melt some people, and then others I cannot scratch, and with people attacking me; some people vaporize me and others hardly touch me (level is irrelevant).
  11. I'm not interested in more faction vs. faction PVP. Same faction Hutt Ball is only played as much as it is due to lack of opposing players.
  12. I agree, this is an issue that first needs to be confirmed by the developers that they're aware of the problem, then it needs to be addressed.
  13. I agree, abilities feel very delayed, then in some cases, they quickly speed up. In a match where timing is everything this can be quite frustrating.
