  1. Enjoyed the analysis as usual and hadn't really heard of this fellow other than the fun fact reference that Luke gives in ANH. Question though, I read his wooki page after reading this and also noted whole big dilemma about him thinking he chose the wrong side, confronting Luke, etc. When you do "Character Analysis" are you more doing their personality and back-story rather than like a complete biography? Found both your post and the wooki page neat but just curious.
  2. Thanks for the info. Wait a minute so the versions of Maul are switching? Given it was the TPM Maul that made it to this loser's bracket shouldn't it be TPM Maul that is considered again? I'll find it entertaining regardless but just asking for the sake of the "rules of the tournament"
  3. Personally I think Maul is the better saber duelist in combat but see what you mean in regards to forms, eras, etc. Just wondering, who'd these two guys lose to in the first round?
  4. I'm pretty sure they're referring to this: Vow established from 15-30 sec then breaks it at the minute mark
  5. Darth Bane and Yoda are probably my two favorites. I'll just elaborate on Yoda for now. Yoda to me is the embodiment of the saying we've all heard since we were young kids, "never judge a book by its cover". Yoda is less than 2 feet tall, 800-900 years old, and upon first appearance is an odd looking alien (note in the OT all other Force Users we see are human so that's the context I mean). Then we see him being extremely knowledgeable, has ridiculous TK feats, then in the PT after Dooku rolls over Obi-Wan and Anakin in ATOC we all know what Yoda does next. Yoda revealing his awesome fighting skills for the first time is still my favorite moment of my movie-seeing life! Like I said before, "Yoda: Big things can come in small packages". Edit: Oops just checked, Yoda is .66 meters ie not less than 2 feet as I said. Close enough??
  6. Indecision leads to the Dark Side of the Force Roll a dice and elaborate that one!
  7. They def do this as well as during Nomi Sunrider's initial training she refuses to use a lightsaber but Thon insists and tells her that a lightsaber will boost her battle mediation. Later she activates one then feels it boosting all her Force Powers. Like people have been saying the Jedi and the saber are an example of mutualism.
  8. He was almost unconscious by the sudden flow of memories and had been constantly drugged for 3 years. The novel just says that he finally gathered himself in time to face Nyriss thus wasn't 100% or amped. I think one of the indirect reasons why the trio takes a few hours break before going against the Emperor is to let Revan fully get in the zone.
  9. Kinda funny how he is a super powerful Jedi and how much the isolation has made him a little crazy. Goes from stalemating Sidious to struggling with R2-D2. My favorite quote: "Impossible to see the future is" from Revenge of the Sith. I like it because no matter how much we try to plan ahead and work things out in our head it is all for nothing sometimes as unexpected happens
  10. Malak not Prime? Wasn't the time of their battle at Malak's prime and he was boosted by the Star Forge? Revan later has the Darth Nyriss kill as well which I think is pretty impressive. These are two of my favorite characters but I think Revan would win but something like he wins 11 out of 20 times.
  11. The Vietnam War... (which by the way was the image that Lucas was trying to portray with this battle)
  12. Part of the Rule of Two is based on holding in your anger and hatred for few select moments and thus the power of the dark side that you unleash in those moments is much more powerful. Given this line of thinking, it then implies that Sith that aren't constantly at war have more time to build said hatred up and thus more power unleashed. Also I think we're forgetting that Sith and Jedi became so powerful during this era (ROE) is because they weren't at war. Meditating and honing your skills on your schedule is perhaps more important than out of necessity for battle. Jedi of the Prequel era took lightsaber forms to the nth degree and created their own something TOR Jedi never did. Sith were busy unlocking unheard powers. Don't get me wrong, personally I like TOR era the best but it's clear who's more powerful. Also I think it's unfair to discount Movie characters because they appear weaker in the movies than in the EU as strictly EU characters (ie the entire TOR era) have an advantage of not appearing in a movie. Guarantee you if they did Eps 7 with Malgus he wouldn't appear as powerful as he does in game/books.
  13. I love how people keep saying that since there were only two Sith they must not be as powerful as an era with many Sith. Aren't you guys forgetting that we are talking about Sith here? Ie they will be in a power struggle with one other regardless of how many other Sith are present. Given that Sidious and Vader are the 1 and 5 Sith of all time the competition and stakes are just as high if not higher as previous eras. That's like saying you'd rather have 30 $1,000 pieces of gold instead of 2 $50,000 diamonds because there are more pieces of gold. Or another anology, before Henry Ford and the assembly line there were 1500+ car manufactors in the U.S. Nowadays there aren't nearly that many but the ones today have a much higher standing in the economy than any back in the day did. Clearly, less quantity need not imply less quality or less competition.
  14. Not to mention that all the Sith and Jedi of the film eras have THE FEATS to back up the claims/canon statements. Don't get me wrong, I personally like TOR era better than ROE era and onward but the facts and feats cannot be ignored. EDIT: Ancient Dark Lords of the Sith bowed to Sidious. None bowed to Malgus. There is a reason for that (and it's not because they were in different timelines)
  15. I believe Plagueis mastered midichlorian manipulation with his respirator as after that attack he became a hermit and Sidious did all the Grand Plan leg work. Isn't the point at which Plagueis masters minichlorian manipulation his height of power?
  16. Into the Void is the earliest novel. Dawn of the Jedi is technically an ongoing comic book series but in my opinion when I hear "Dawn of the Jedi" I consider it more of an umbrella term/an era that covers that portion of the SW timeline as there are now other things (ie Into the Void) that have that Dawn of the Jedi title. THe umbrella Dawn of the Jedi era is from about 36,000 BBY to 25,000 BBY and Into the Void is 27,500 BBY. If you wanna start where it all begins then go with Into the Void. If you wanna start with how the Sith go from many to two then has to be Darth Bane Trilogy. Both mark a sort of beginning so to speak so whichever sounds better to you.
  17. Tales of the Jedi are comic books so getting a volume (ie Omnibus 1) is a collection of those. That wooki list is novels. I'm not sure what you mean by "present"? Do you mean up to the SWTOR portion of the timeline. The Lost Tribe of the Sith is collected into one work (350ish pages) with a comic book following events right after. It's kinda neat to watch how they change over the years but the events in there are not related to SWTOR or the SW galaxy at large in general as they (the Tribe) are literally isolated from the rest of the galaxy so you don't see any of the Sith Wars that take place during that time. Obviously Into the Void occurs before all the other books but again that will not relate to SWTOR. If you want concise statements of SW history best to just get a source book. If you want to focus on the SWTOR timeline start with Revan then etc. I personally think the best place to start is the Darth Bane Trilogy or Darth Plageueis. All are good reads and even though they don't occur early in the SW timeline, they will mention previous long time ago events frequently. Personally the DB trilogy are my favorite books.
  18. Question on semantics. I thought the quote was that Luke was double Vader ie Luke was 160% of Darth Sidious? Made sense to me that Luke wouldn't be the 200% of Darth Sidious that Anakin was as Luke had a more "natural" conception but I'm asking because I don't know.
  19. Not being a fanboy, but in the Revan novel it is stated that Revan had similar beliefs that positive emotions fuel the light side
  20. Except the Galactic Empire has superior technology. I am not underestimating Star Forge. In the Galactic Empire, a military society/culture, with 1.5 million conquered worlds and 69 million colonies, don't you think there would be a significant percentage of worlds manufacturing something to keep that military might going? Note that it is stated in the SWTOR Galactic Timeline that the Sith Emperor wanted Revan & Malak to get the Star Forge to put his war with the Republic ahead of schedule, not immediately. I feel that the significant numbers make up and maybe exceed what the Star Forge can put out Edit: And I think there was only one Star Forge, not multiple
  21. The preparation required for Sith Magics differs based on the magnitude of the spell and the power of the Force User. For example, in Dynasty of Evil Zannah could inflict extreme terror and insanity on an opponent's mind with no preparation but in Rule of Two she used some weird half second hand gesture to perform it. Exar Kun is quite the powerful Force User and is top 3 of all time in terms of use, knowledge, and power in Sith Magics. Preparation for these attacks is not something he needs. You also have forgotten the point that Obi-Wan has had opponents rip through his Barrier. Eps III is pretty much Obi-Wan's prime (or close to it) and look how easily Dooku threw him aside. Consider 3 cases: -Now if Dooku had to "gather his power" to do that, if Obi-Wan sensed Dooku gathering his power whatever means he took to prevent Dooku's attack obviously had no effect. -If Obi-Wan couldn't sense Dooku gather power, this deducts points from Obi-Wan's sense abilities. -If Dooku didn't even have to "gather his power" to break Obi-Wan's barrier, this is the most detrimental to your argument for obvious reasons. So, all 3 cases hurt your argument that Obi-Wan can sense or defend a Kun Force-Based attack and note that I am ignoring the fact the Obi-Wan has no knowledge of defense against magic. If breaking his Barrier occurs, how do you propose he will defend himself against something he knows nothing about? One of the reasons Yoda tells Obi-Wan he is not powerful enough to face Sidious. It's true that Dooku is powerful, but Exar Kun is more powerful. This is not an argument in my opinion but been fun.
  22. Right but the Galactic Empire had the Death Star which could literally destroy Lehon and they had some other massively powerful super weapons as well. Plus I think the Rakata force users are nothing compared to the Empire's force users. Whenever Darth Vader shows up it's an automatic victory and all those other Dark Side Adapts are also above Rakata guys. Then there's always Darth Sidious lurking in the background. Don't get me wrong I consider the Infinite Empire to be more successful and innovative (because of the portion of the timeline in which they occur) but in a war with both Empires at their peaks (and they can't share stuff) I take Galactic
