  1. People who know mmo's should know this is common and just to add for WoW, come patch 5.4 I will bet at least 600k people come back for it and the next expansion I will bet at least 1.5 mil come back as well. Another thing is Blizzard broke away from Vivendi which is extremely good news. With some of the original devs back on WoW, I expect the next expansion is going to be good. As for ToR, the numbers went up after f2p which is as expected. Not sure how many new subs they got from f2p players or lost, but this game is doing quite well and in the tops for mainstream mmo games active accounts wise I believe. I think once ToR launches something big, be it the Space project or a big expansion, it will grow even more. I just personally don't like the f2p direction mmo's are going to but we have no one to thank but ourselves for it. I hope the community decides they rather have more content and a challenge vs easy mode and free hand outs.
  2. I would love to see Cloud City. I know it isn't a planet but it would be fun. Like maybe as an extra area. Planets I don't. Yavin might be ok or even Kashyyyk or Endor to add some more forest type places.
  3. ROFL at the title alone. Game isn't dying sorry. And no pod-racing doesn't have to be added. Go purchase the Star Wars pod racing game if you need it that bad.
  4. Sounds like it is what Blizzard does with their MVP people (green text). They basically are some what of a voice of the community to the devs. They aren't paid and are voted on by the people. So it sounds like this is exactly the same thing except will be representing their classes instead of everyone.
  5. Why even respond at all then? People like you are why mmo communities keep going downhill. Just like when people ask for help in-game. I bet you are one of the people who need to say "google.com".
  6. I'm not disagreeing with you on that, but it is also quite possible people could be having different pc issues causing the same thing you are experiencing. Just paste your specs like the mod asked and go from there. You have to also understand a couple hundred people out of at least 500k is very small and the odds for so few to have this issue could likely be on the persons end and not BW. Just work with an actual CS rep like you seem to be doing now and go from there.
  7. I agree with you on that, or at least so far it shows, but how is it Blizzards fault? People who keep blaming them for how mmo's are today always cracks me up. Blizzard isn't telling these other companies how to make their game. I will say ESO might be a different type of game being it looks like it will be in fp mode like their console games.
  8. Ummmm so? That reply was from a random person. They aren't a BW employee. Notice the post above you replied in where they asked you for some pc info? Maybe do that and do what they ask vs. taking what that random person said.
  9. Actually that is not ture, in a sense. I have seen many games give updates which actually conflicted with certain graphic cards or certain graphic card drivers. Therefore it wouldn't effect EVERYONE but those who had those cards. On the flip side though, that would be a BW problem (for this example) and I am sure would fix it quickly like the other companies have done in the past. With that said, I hate to say it but for now it looks like it may be on your end and those with those same issues. I understand your frustration trust me. Our of curiosity and you may have said this already but you seem to at least get the updates/patches because you are still playing. What do you do to fix that?
  10. I like how people still try to bring down BW when they clearly made a lot more money then last year. All the haters saying the game will be done in another year still cracks me up yet you have games like AoC, UO (sub based and a very low pop), Aion, etc. who don't even have close to the active people are still alive and well too.
  11. Yeah WoW really ruined the genre with their great game and made a mmo that they wanted. It is sooo their fault 13 mil people liked the game and subbed to it. I didn't know Blizzard was the president of mmo's and had to be done their way. Maybe another company make a mmo with THEIR OWN vision and not copy WoW then? Blizzard was able to take some features of other mmo's but make it into how they wanted then added other things along with great devs who had great skills and made some amazing end game raids. It's not WoW's fault other companies can't come up with their own mmo that can generate a population like that. Instead of cloning it maybe take some of the good things about it and make it their own and add some new things and have creative people who maybe can have good stories and end game raid designs. But yeah it is all WoW's fault. On a side note I think ToR did a pretty good job of making their own mmo. Very story driven and the end game was pretty good. Just way to short and easy. Plus not making a mmo about goblins and elves and swords and bows helped too along with the name, but still. That is why I still play this with WoW because it is a different kind of mmo to me.
  12. You can add me to that list. I am and will always be a PvE player (end game raiding) but I do like to occasionally get in on some pvp be it warzones/battlegrounds or some fun OWpvp. I don't do it all that often but it can be fun for me at times. As for the topic at hand, I honestly have never come across this in playing. People can argue about so many things but all you can do is leave input in a constructive manor and see if BW agrees or not. I do think the idea of on a pve server you have to /flag or click a button to do to attack anyone else flagged or be open to being attacked and you cannot get flagged for aoe or using quest items or clicking the flagged person and using an ability unless you manually flag. And when you turn it off it has a 5 min timer till it does. But for now you just should report and go to a new instance.
  13. The only 2 mmo games I have active subs to are ToR and WoW. I play Rift's f2p here and there, but I prefer ToR and WoW. ToR for me, has a great leveling system. I love the stories and atmospheres etc. Sure planets like Hoth and Tatooine I try to get through asap, but overall I think it is the best. This is the only game where I maxed out a few alts (besides my main) and enjoyed it as well. WoW, I don't have any max level alts. I have two in the high 80's but just not as excited or in a rush to finish them. I haven't raided since NM EV or whatever that one is called where you start off on the shore and one of the bosses is that tank thing. I haven't done any of the other ones after that (which was when D3 was releases). But I really loved the end game Ops because I felt part of that story and really felt they did a good job of creating that. It reminded me of some of WoW's end game. Only problem was they made ToR's way to easy and too short imo. For pvp, I like the warzones and the uniqueness of them. I have fun in them anyways. I would like to see them try to get some world pvp going on ie. llum, because nothing like huge pvp wars in Star Wars. So for me, I think ToR is one of the best mmo's out on the market and one I still play with WoW. I have tried AoC, Warhammer, Tera, GW2, EQ2, Rift, TSW, STO, LotR, UO and I think that's it.
  14. It worked with WoW. Their numbers continued to rise through the rest of Vanilla and in BC and peaked in Wrath. Vanilla and BC didn't just hand things to you and had a lot greater challenges and time you needed to spend playing your toon. So to say it isn't a good combo, well, WoW's numbers speak for itself. Obviously 13 mil others didn't mind it. There is a reason why so many people now-a-days cry about needing more content and can't find anything to do at max level. Because all the mmo's now cater to the casuals and they have to make things easy for them so therefore they simply can't keep up content in the time people take to finish things now. Don't get me wrong, I understand what you are saying, but I used the term work to mean to actually put effort into something and feeling a better reward about it vs. doing nothing and sitting there watching tv and pressing 2 buttons and clearing content that way.
  15. Nothing really. Then again I don't know of any other big name mmo that does that either. Not saying there isn't but I know WoW doesn't, I don't think AoC, Rift, Tera, LotR, etc. do either.
  16. IMO MMO's should go back to at least how Vanilla WoW was. I would say UO but the learning curve for that type of game I don't think will hold any interest today or bring in the big bucks. The reason why I feel this way is because back then, things weren't handed to you. You had to do a lot of work and yes grind, but making any mmo now without a little grind doesn't seem to do so well. You couldn't get most of your purple gear through simple "valor points". You had to do a lot more. Heck, you had to wait till level 40 to get a mount. You have any players now and they will cry and whine having to run everywhere for a long time. Everything is just simply catered to casuals now and it keeps getting worse. Another WoW example. LFR. A joke of a raid but there for those to see content and get easy loot. People whine even more now because they receive the same loot at times. WAHHHH. ToR is very easy. It isn't hard to hit max level and when I raided, the guild I was in we cleared all the hardest modes in a matter of a few weeks. I stopped with HM or NM EV (I think it was called) because we cleared it and D3 came out so our guild folded because they had no interest to wait for the next operation. I know people don't have tons of time anymore, but you can still make things a lot more challenging and longer. Getting attuned for raids in WoW took time. Defeating bosses back then you felt like you accomplished a lot and would yell on vent because of the hard work put into to it. I haven't felt like that since Heroic LK in WoW. ToR i didn't feel like that killing any boss. Anyways that is my thought on it and be it in the minority or not. I feel bringing that type of challenge back (not just raiding) could bring in more players to a game.
  17. CS should definitely make exceptions like that in any industry field. Be it here, Best Buy, restaurants, etc. The flip side though is, I have been playing since beta and have never cancelled my sub and pay monthly still. I missed that 10 yr anniversary title by a day because I wasn't able to make it on during that time. Should I get the title then too? Rules are rules and it is up to the company if they want to bend them. In this case with the OP they didn't want to. Do they have to? Nope. But if they wanted to display good CS which most companies would want to do, they would have done that for them. You can't really get mad at any company for declining it if it wasn't within the allowed time.
  18. What more can they do? THe future of most mmo's are new raids, pvp arenas, class updates, and 5 man type dungeons. But I don't really see a f2p game put a lot money into new ideas or things like that. F2p games will focus the most on cash shop items so then they can make new raids, pvp stuff etc. I guess what I mean is, I don't see ToR really making things like pet battles, a LFR type thing, Proving Grounds type thing, etc. That is fine though because as long as they make new content, stories, operations etc. that works for me. Like others have said, they are working on the new space project (hopefully) so that could be something new and unique.
  19. Sorry but something like this for a big brand and company and you think only 1 day is actually fine because you are treating like an individuals birthday or anniversary? That is a laugh. Amazing how every other company be it gaming or just retail like a Best Buy or something, celebrate their anniversaries usually for the week or month or even sometimes the whole year. 10 years is actually a big celebration. Offering it for a week would have been nice. Maybe I am used to other gaming companies also who usually celebrate big anniversaries longer then a day. /shrug But it is their decision so they can do as they please. Nothing to get up and arms about especially since there was nothing really special overall in-game for this occasion.
  20. People can say what they want about Blizzard, but it seems like they are the ones who still come up with some cool features like this and it isn't needing an expansion for it. Just a patch. Just like how they made LFR and soon Flex raiding. I just don't see f2p games going above and beyond for things like this and maybe only do something like it in an expansion or digital download. Not to knock ToR or the other f2p games, but I know they focus on their cash shops the most due to it being their main source of income now. I see the f2p games using their devs for other things like newer content, new ops, flashpoints, and some pvp things.
  21. That defeats the purpose of a pvp server. Red = Dead motto on pvp servers. If you don't like forced pvp then join the servers. You can't have it all. Seriously, what is the mmo world becoming? My Lord. People are so needy and lazy now. They want everything easier and handed to them. They don't want pvp servers to allow higher levels to gank them so they want the whole pvp server worlds to now have level caps of who you can/can't attack. Why even play mmo's then?
  22. To me it sounds like you are wanting a LFR type system like WoW is doing. I don't see that happening for awhile if at all here. It would all depend on how long it would take to change the boss mechanics and dumbing them down. I don't think they would make a whole new OP just for the purpose you are asking. That would be incredibility dumb and a waste of money and time. That is one of the many problems with f2p. Stuff like this will cost too much to do I think and they would rather focus on more cartel stuff and new content. Just my opinion though.
  23. Launch Personally I enjoyed the launch and had 0 issues with anything. I remember being in the first group to log in early access before the official launch and for me the experience was amazing. I didn't dc, had no logging on issues, no lag, performance was great, and didn't really come across any game breaking bugs or really many bugs at all that made me aggravated. No rubber banding either. Even on the official launch I never ran into any issues. I know some people had bad experiences on launch but don't know what to say to that as I didn't have that. I have been on launch days for a lot of mmo's and ones like Aion, Warhammer and AoC were pretty bad. WoW I didn't start playing until a month after launch so I didn't hit a lot of the bad things people experienced. Tera had tons of account issues where people couldn't even log on and had corrupted files etc. Now I still love the game and sub, but don't play much anymore. I was in a guild that was raiding and we cleared all the hardest modes extremely quick. D3 just came out too and so we decided to take a break then since we saw everything. Ended up folding so I joined a new guild. Was getting ready for the new raid but MoP for WoW was about to come out. I'm a raider so I decided to go back to WoW for raiding due to ToR's raids then were very easy. So anyways I am still playing ToR here and there and like I said, I still love it but too much behind now to raid for fun as I am not grinding any tokens for gear. Just stuck in my 146 or whatever gear that is. Future I don't know. I see maybe a new version of space. A type of player housing for our ship maybe. More mini expansions and races. The basic mmo stuff I guess you could say. But it depends on what you mean by future. 1 year? 5 years? I think this game will still be fine in 3-5 years from now.
  24. I do agree the people who put in all this time and effort do care about it. No doubt about it nor questioning that. But you say there will never be an emu of this game? Well of course not because for one EA won't allow it nor release the code for open source. Secondly, it will take a lot of money to run a server for this type of game vs SWG's sandbox game. Your "care about this game" remark is actually incorrect. If not many care about this game, then why are there at least triple the people that play this vs SWG's peak? Heck, this game at its lowest didn't even get to SWG's peak . It was still a couple hundred thousand ahead. Also you do realize all the mmo's went f2p pretty quickly also. Rift did last a couple years, but Tera went fast, AoC, STO, TSW and Warhammer did also. Only reason why some may have taken longer is because no one was really using the f2p system. Once they saw the success of LotR then it started happening all over. ToR I was shocked to see do it because of the money spent to make the game, but with dropping subs it didn't surprise me.
  25. It is just like any other mmo's end game. You can either raid (do Operations), do heroic type flash points, dailies, pvp, explorer all areas on the map, work on achievements, farm mats and craft, level an alt, participate in events if they are going on, build all your companions affection etc. The choice is yours.
