  1. Asphen you don't seem to understand the definition of "buff" a fix, as you say, can still be a buff, if it improves the overall ability of a class, regardless if it "should" have been that way all along a fix can also be a nerf, if it makes the overall ability of a class worse, regardless if it "should" have been that way all along buff and fix are not mutually exclusive words just thought I'd throw that out there
  2. I find a lot of use for Blade Storm as a Combat sentinel, to the point that it's always off its cooldown 10 meters isn't much, but it's still very helpful when closing in on your target especially considering that (at the current time) my only other alternative is a MUCH weaker attack that should only ever need one use, and only if there is a healer nearby
  3. I don't know how it helps you at the time you get that particular quest, but later on on Ord Mantell you learn that a fair number of the supposed "protectors" are rather corrupt themselves also, it's dying orphans who have no hope for survival otherwise vs dying soldiers who have been trained for this kind of thing and should know what they were getting into still not a pure "light vs dark" choice, but it's still something... another idea is, because it's the tutorial planet, it's to help you decide what sort of character you want to build. later on there are quests that can give you light or no points, or dark or no points. my guess is that the reason they didn't do this here (having the choice to give it to the soldiers have no gain either way, a true grey choice) is because it's not as defining a development for an early character or maybe I'm just overthinking it, and the idea of a one way/no way choice hadn't arisen at the time of making this particular quest...
  4. nice to see people still don't read the notices when they open the patcher
  5. uh, watchman? you know, like I said it was? or did you not understand it? he didn't say "PVP Help please (watchman)" or anything like that, he just said "PVP Help please" and then goes into the watchman rotation the point I'm making is that so many people just default to watchman that they don't even clarify that's what they use. in other words, no one uses combat, and that makes me sadfrog
  6. >came in to offer some advice >see that OP mentions a watchman rotation without so much as a hint he is watchman spec >that feel when people don't even clarify what spec they are because they think no one uses combat >sadfrog.jpg
  7. This. I'm not berating you, I can see you're genuinely trying to help people, and that's good. It's just the way you worded things it sounds like you're trying to force a specific playstyle on people
  8. I suppose this could be a reason...I certainly do piss a lot of people off. I remember the other day I was the only one that went to east turret to stall an assassin and a sorcerer from taking it. I ended up winning 2 on 1 and taking the turret from them. I know they were mad after that back on topic, I'd say the hardest class for me to kill 1 on 1 is probably scoundrel/operative...stunlocks are fun
  9. my issue with this is you look like you're forcing very specific bindings on people, instead of just giving advice. for example, the first thing you say is "first off switch your a and d to strafe left and right." to me, the way you have this worded, translates to "do it this way or you're doing it wrong" I, personally HATE strafing with A and D. I use the illegitimate child of keyboard and mouse turning: a combination of both. I am comfortable enough combining A and D to turn with Q and E to strafe, as well as using my right mouse button for quick and precise turning. strafing with A and D and turning solely with my mouse just feels very uncomfortable to me after that you go into some complicated web setup, which seems entirely unnecessary to me. I've never understood why so many people seem aversive to having their whole number bar bound. if you took basic typing in middle/high school, key placements should be entirely natural so that snapping to the key you want to press and back to where you hand was should be effortless also, I don't even have a middle mouse button. hell, I use a touchpad, not an actual mouse, and it doesn't even have a scroll bar on the side like some of them have. problem, elitists? (not directed at OP)
  10. holy ****, they DO exist! quick, capture them! not one but TWO wild considerate posters! truly the rarest of sights!
  11. I wish I could say this, but it always seems that the enemy team considers it taboo of the highest order to ever attack a sniper or gunslinger, and as soon as I target them I get swarmed by everyone...
  12. short answer: you enjoy it long answer: you enjoy it because it's fun
  13. after re-reading the topic and looking over skills and abilities I haven't acquired yet, I can see my error having only experienced up to level 28, I'm still missing some key abilities. as of now all I have is Resolute, Force Leap, and Untalented Transcendence to keep on my target I still maintain that roots and snares should affect resolve. 1 on 1? I'm well aware sents/marauders will win. sadly that's almost never the case. maybe I just have a giant target painted on my face...
  14. I play a sentinel I have one ability on a 15 second (12 second talented) cooldown that actually does decent damage, and another that does very little damage and only reduces healing done to the target, and it's dispelable. BOTH abilities only have a meager 10 meter range. other than that, I have to be right on you to do anything at all roots absolutely devastate classes like me. try playing a melee class, OP. you'll completely go back on what you're saying
  15. any change that increases the overall ability of a class is a buff a fix can be a buff, but a buff is not always a fix I'm guessing OP just doesn't like the idea of people saying a class has been "buffed" up to the level it should have been to start with
  16. my friend made a sith warrior, dead set on being the biggest heartless bastard he could be not long after leaving Korriban he horribly regretted his decision, after a few interactions with Vette he has since remade his warrior shortly after I made the one in the OP
  17. be careful when you use Force Leap. if you use it to skip a large portion of the path, chances are you're going to get pushed back off the walkway into the pit below. instead, wait to get pushed off first, THEN force leap back to them and continue on your way if you're really lucky, some idiot will stand on the ledge in front of their goal, giving you a free leap to score
  18. yes...provided it's not something released too soon as a half assed attempt to please a small crowd ahhh, the memories of that old N64 pod-racer game...hate the prequel trilogy all you want, that game was FUN
  19. I can understand something like that after multiple offenses, but this is the first time. BW is new to the MMO scene, and they've got EA on their backs. give them a chance, they'll get their **** together
  20. Why do you Sith get the best companion in the game? I'd kill to have this gem of a companion on my sentinel... and to allow SGRAs
  21. And you're quitting over it? Ok, don't get me wrong. I'm not disagreeing that the game came out too early and patch 1.2 stuff indeed should have been here at launch. But it's simply amazing that people use this as an excuse to insult the game and say they're going to quit because of it Seriously, where is the logic in "Oh they're finally releasing this stuff. But they didn't have it for launch so I'ma quit before it gets here". Someone tell me, I'm really baffled over this
  22. going by the theory of inherited power, Satele obviously. I mean she is the descendant of Bastila AND Revan
  23. I'm finding it difficult to explain to someone like you (no offense meant by the phrase) it's not that people don't enjoy pvp and just do it because they have to collect everything, it's just that, with a goal in sight, and with other things (say, a job) getting in the way, they can't sit down and enjoy the game at their pace without getting to their goal. if you enjoy pvping for hours at a time, grinding and grinding your way to the top, more power to you. but other people either don't have the time, or simply just don't find as much enjoyment out of grinding valor that diligently and it's only harder on the sort of people unlucky enough in their server selection that they get stuck with the worst of the worst in their groups
  24. >complaining about survivability and damage from a pure dps class >rerolling from a tank >mindfullof****.jpg
  25. to that, I answer with something else I can't remember where I found... let's say you're sitting in bed, with nothing to do. across your room is a garbage can, and next to you is a pile of crumpled up paper (why? work with me here...) to pass the time, you decide to start tossing the paper in the trash can. you find it entertaining, and start to count how many times in a row you can make it before you miss now let's say it's later in the day, and you're laying in bed about to have some "fun times" with a girl (or boy if the case may be) that you like. Then they suddenly say "wait! we can't do this unless you can throw 10 wads of paper into the trash can in a row!" now you have a goal: you try your best to make the shots each time, and get more and more frustrated every time you miss and have to start over. it's not even remotely fun now, because you actually have a reason for doing it, unlike before where you were just passing the time now look at pvp. if you enjoy pvp, and just queue for random warzones, you're doing it for fun, and hopefully you're having fun. however, if your goal is Battlemaster, it loses a significant amount of fun as you continue doing warzones over and over and over, stretching out to get that next valor rank closer to 60, using hours of your time possibly grouping with the most insufferable group of people you've ever played with that cause you to lose warzone after warzone tl;dr/I'm to tired to go into anymore detail: there's a vast difference between pvping for fun and pvping to succeed
