  1. As long as it involves sticking a head on a human body we are spoilt for choice
  2. I'd agree, to even suggest subscribers pay for Makeb would probably be the straw that breaks the camels back. I think many are prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt for now but pull another stunt like this and it would be the end. To me it's a content update as you say, an expansion implies significant additions to the game, not one new planet.
  3. I think the fact it was damn fun to play is it's biggest selling point. Unfortunately people become jaded over time but it's still the MMO people fall back too. The trouble for MMO's that deviate from the WoW template now is many of todays MMO players grew up with WoW, therefore they expect/want a game that is familiar despite what they might say to the contrary. Those of us from earlier MMO's still remember when there was a different way. Unfortunately for us, and maybe some might say for the newer generation, not many companies will want to take risks particularly in the current financial climate. I think our best hope is for smaller, independent studios to innovate and give the genre the much needed kick up the *** it needs.
  4. Yes, once you were in a group it was great fun. I loved my summoner, a cute little Tarutaru
  5. FFXI was totally solo unfriendly. I remember waiting in Jeuno for hours sometimes just to get a group when people from my linkshell weren't available. Imagine that in a modern MMO it would be totally unacceptable.
  6. Maybe because MMO's were niche games back in the early days and it was always considered slightly geeky, I can still remember those times . It is far more acceptable to play MMO's now and indeed is considered part of the mainstream of gaming.
  7. Yeah, I'm kinda pissed about that as I bought 2 of them at launch. I should learn my lesson really, I also bought a lifetime sub to STO when it launched
  8. The fact we started with 2 million subs and now have around 600k proves the OP's statement is true. Very many people were not satisfied with the game. Anyway, what I would like to hear is some announcement about the future space update. Even if it's just to say that they are actually working on it and give us a few clues as to what it might be.
  9. I am a Star Wars fan, probably longer than you have been alive and I can assure you this game is far from perfect. It has many positives i agree, otherwise why would i play it, but your list is flawed. Take crafting, rather than being a blast, it is simplistic and uninspired. You glossed over space which isn't surprising as the less said about that the better. Most Star Wars fans would be looking for a game set in the original trilogy era, to many KotOR isn't even 'proper' Star Wars. To be honest I'm still not convinced your original post was serious.
  10. I'm quite happy to wait for it. Just knowing they are even developing something similar to JTL would be enough for many people. If it was announced as an expansion and done well i would be ecstatic.
  11. It's this kind of crazy delusional thinking that got the game over hyped in the beginning. I do wish people would be honest and realistic about it's potential. I can see it attracting maybe a million to 2 million in the short term but then dropping considerably again once the novelty wears off. 50 million is just like a figure plucked out of the air. They may have well just said 100 million and be done with it, i mean both figures are about as realistic as me standing for presidential election.
  12. It's disappointing that you would be satisfied with the space game as it is. By excusing Bioware from making something better ,by claiming space was not an integral part of the movies, you are depriving many people of a more exciting space experience and one that the SW IP deserves. As it stands nothing sets this game apart from all the other generic MMO's, aside from the story, a decent space game could add a unique selling point to TOR. There is no other MMO now SWG has gone where you can live out your Star Wars fantasies, which for many fans includes flying their own ships in combat.
  13. This is also a Star Wars game. What is Star Wars without space. The fact that BW even tried to draw us in with videos of space combat means they also realise space is an important part of the IP. Nowhere did they ever say this game was about lore and story only. What is so wrong with people wanting something better for the game?
  14. Only about 6 weeks to MoP see how much they rise then except I bet you don't post those.
  15. So no one in the movies was actually flying their ship? They had limited left to right movement? The space combat we have currently is nothing like the movies. On rails is the worst possible kind of space combat we could have ended up with. There is no excitement because you have no control over your ship. I accept some people might like the mini-game but don't ever try to claim this is the exciting space combat we see in the movies.
  16. That's from April so not exactly JUST did. It's old news and most likely totally irrelevant with F2P coming.
  17. So based on your experience with this game, which we all agree the space combat is dreadful in, you think all space combat has to be like that. Have you experienced JTL or XwingvTIE fighter ? As I said you have the choice of many ground based MMO's if you aren't keen on space.
  18. Can I ask why you would play a Star Wars game if you aren't interested in space combat. There are plenty of ground based MMOs you could be playing.
  19. Is that so? Star Wars without space combat I must have missed that movie. Proper space combat would be a huge draw for this game. Star Wars fans expect decent space combat and here we just aren't getting it. Not sure why you would play a Star Wars game and then think there should be no space combat.
  20. lol, it was made 2003, of course it isn't going to look pretty. You had to play it and be part of the community to know just how good it was.
  21. I think something along those lines would transform this games fortunes. I know the space combat is only a mini-game but it just doesn't do justice to the Star Wars IP. If they went down the JTL route I can see it attracting many new players. However, if the space project turns out to be anything like that I would be very surprised.
  22. I'd say I was both. Obviously having grown up with Star Wars (Original Trilogy ) that came first but been MMO'ing since original Everquest. It WAS the Star Wars name and the fact Bioware was making this that first got me interested back in 2008 though.
  23. Yeah, the graphics were starting to age quite a lot. I remember back in 2003 thinking how great they were. Even years later though you still couldn't beat the sight of the sunset on Tatooine for that Star Wars feeling. I don't know but I actually felt like I was in the Star Wars universe more than I do here. I'm a bit surprised you would say it has EVE scale of user friendliness though. I think it was pretty straightforward with the skill system. EVE's learning curve is like climbing Everest.
  24. I wonder if they did that because sometimes people were slightly elitst about their join date.
  25. I've followed from 2008 but joined here in 2009 i think. The joined dates all vanished though.
