  1. I've gotten four classes to level fifty, all male: an Operative, a Juggernaut, an Inquisitor and a Gunslinger (I deleted the Juggernaut with an intention to reroll because I screwed up in key points in the story with him; I only bothered getting him to fifty to unlock the Sith race for all classes.). Of the four, the best voice actors have got to be the male IA and the male SW. The IA is really refined-sounding, like he knows what he's doing and could perfectly calmly slit your throat in two seconds flat. The SW sounds intelligent, but forceful - sort of 'Don't screw around with me'. I like that the voice sounds intelligent, if only because you need to be a scheming bastard to be a Sith in the first place. xD. The Gunslinger would come in third; it had some great points (I love his lines <3), but didn't feel as perfected to the class as the first two I mentioned. I really don't like the Inquisitor's VA; the line 'just show me where the fun is' makes me want to shove nails in my ears. He does perfect darkside delivery, though, so that makes up for that one phrase being awful.
  2. Actually, the IA storyline does change a whole lot depending on your answers in some of the key scenes, and there are 3-5 different IA endings. So it can alter the direction of the whole story, though the IA storyline was probably the most blatant one for the 'affect your own destiny' thing.
  3. The elevators on Hoth bases, as well as the one on Imperial Quesh, can only be described as 'hell on earth'. That is all.
  4. I switched from Sharpshooter to Saboteur and immediately became MUCH more effective in PvP. Thank you for writing this guide, it's really useful and managed to make me not be a terrible part of my team in warzones. XD. (Seriously, I did nine WZs last night and lost all of them. I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence.).
  5. Flyboy Merdac: http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg585/scaled.php?server=585&filename=elegantpistol.png&res=landing http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/2126/smugglerw.png Level fifty gunslinger; lady's man; greedy jerk with slightly positive intentions. My mission with him has been to have sex with every single person I can. Sadly the count is only 4-5 people.
  6. ...You realize that it all has to be developed, right? A game is not as weak as its engine (though its engine can cripple it), but as weak as its designers. HeroEngine has been highly customized by the TOR team, reportedly, and nothing has been 'pre-designed' for the Elder Scrolls Online game by TOR's developers, so. It could go in many directions, many of them completely unrelated to what TOR does.
  7. We know for sure that legacy unlocks will be transferable, so that means it's pretty likely that credits and items will be transferable too. There's no need for a 'credit cap' with transfers, considering the lack of an online currency empire like WoW has.
  8. Mockingbird, because I'm so original (totes). At least it's not some kind of awful cliche?
  9. The fact that they're giving away a free month to such a large amount of their playerbase means that it's more likely that Bioware isn't at all in danger of losing a whole lot of its subs (those free months for you aren't free for them - they still have to pay employees, server costs, development costs, etc). If they were desperate they'd be doing a whole different strategy that didn't rely on what is essentially throwing money at people.
  10. The massive improvement of the Galactic Trade [Market/Network]; the lack of a cooldown on companion gifts (and stacking! <3); the hue-to-chest color option; darkside effects actually showing in the character selection screen. These things are wonderful. <3 James
  11. Well, the 'eight classes' thing isn't really a good answer to the complaint. Of course, you could say it isn't valid because of ranked PvP, the new operation with harder/more advanced mechanics (according to Bioware, anyway), professions actually being something which matters now that we have critcrafted orange gear being better than purples (if you rip out the mods), uh. There's quite a lot to do, but since Bioware also has to provide for people who don't like leveling alts, a valid answer is not 'look at all the alts you can have!'.
  12. I think I'll be tinkering with my UI a lot, so I'll just post a screenshot (link) and not bother uploading anything just yet. Also, this is a wonderful tool - almost everything is customizable (the only thing I wish I could do is change the text size and only the text size on my character's HP, etc and the ability to make self/target/target-of-target show health/power bars vertically instead of horizontally.). <3 Quick bar #1 drives me crazy because I can't make the lock icons/etc disappear, and it kills the uniformity of the quickbars. >_> Oh well, I guess I'll deal with it. Also, everything is at 45% opacity (65% "alpha" setting) because I like to be able to see what's going on and don't like my UI getting in the way, but still want to actually, y'know ... SEE the UI. xD
  13. Huh. I'm of the opinion that the male Inquisitor voice actor isn't really up to par and often gives off the wrong attitude (compare how the female and male say 'just show me where the fun is' and 'I suppose I can lower myself to do this' and the female is much superior in tone and attitude to the male voice actor.). As for everyone saying the BH's voice actor, I don't think they picked him very well either if only because it's a voice which only works for a specific kind of character (it's very difficult to get a body which 'fits' that voice well unless it's body type two or three). However, Kaliyo's voice actor is fantastic and personifies the character perfectly. :3 As well as the Imperial Agent's (...except when you lose the accent, then it's just OH LAWDY WHY.). Edit: Oh, also, definitely that one person on Imperial Taris who has you inject the Rakghoul virus into Republic sickbay things. He's just so... cheery and awesome. And he makes up words. Hell yes. And Thana. I swear I couldn't hate that character nearly as much without the wonderful voice actor. (If I was death I doubt I'd kill her every time I go through Taris.).
  14. My Agent is at the very beginning of Light IV because the decisions which make the most sense for the good of the Empire at large are lightside decisions. :C
  15. For realsies - I don't get why anyone would even touch a vibroblade while being a member of a military force, but (for example) on Corellia, there are plenty of Republic soldiers with vibroswords willing to attack you with them. The only reason I can imagine you'd want one is to protect against lightsabers, and even then it seems like you're pretty much screwed going up against a force-user with a melee weapon (Operatives/scoundrels exempted because they carry stealth generators and stab you in the back, putting them on a more even footing.). I mean, there's a good reason that without some kind of edge like a stealth generator, going up against a force user with a vibroblade is suicide (and there isn't a single reason to carry one unless you expect to go up against a force-user.). I mean, at least with a lightsaber you can deflect blasterfire (though Jedi/Sith do this using, you guessed it, the force), so you can defend yourself against pretty much any weapon thrown your direction. I mean, I could understand it for formal occasions ("I challenge you to a duel," yada yada) but past that what the hell is the use of a vibrosword?
  16. I don't understand why people are pissed at Bioware for not updating the game to 1.2 soon enough; it's obviously not done yet - if you look at the PTS, they're still bugfixing and all that. Hell, it wasn't until 4/4 that they fixed the bug that made spaceships invisible in space combat missions that was on the PTS. I'd rather they give me a stable update where I don't encounter many problems than give me one that is blatantly unfinished.
  17. It really depends. Have you been through your faction of choice a million times? Do you want a specific race that isn't available for you alt's class? If no to both, make it now. If yes to the second one, wait for 1.2. If yes to the first one, wait for 1.3 because oh god I am not touching my Mercenary until I can give him an XP boost.
  18. RE: "It just isn't Star Wars!" We're talking about a class which shoots lightning from its fingers and is known for secrecy, cunning and guile; this is something which looks like a swamp monster from the depths of hell and I think it fits the Inquisitor class fantastically. Remember, guys, it's a big universe - it doesn't all have to be 'mainstream' stuff styled off of Republic or Imperial architecture. It's something which looks stylized after something scary and secret-ish, and in a galaxy full of aliens and everything it doesn't seem like something which would be too far off the mark.
  19. I've always wanted to RP Cthulhu worship. And now I can! <3
  20. They've got a PvE team for operations/flashpoints and a team for PvP (which probably coordinates considering that PvE and PvP don't have different tooltips/mechanics except for stuns lasting less time in PvP.). It seems like, at least right now, they're dual-focused.
  21. I was a human. I thought about it and decided that the other races stand out too much (especially the Chiss, since they're the Empire's only official allies.). So she might be a bit xenophobic, I guess. *shrug*
  22. The most hated planet for me is definitely Ord Mantell. I'm not sure why, because the quests are all pretty well-placed and it has a pretty good atmosphere/setting. It just never caught my interest either time I've been through it (on a smuggler and trooper). Tython I don't... hate? It's sort of dull, but not really miserable. Korriban's pretty fun. Hutta's at least intriguing.
  23. Even if the servers were averaged, well. You've got something like 250 servers. 1,000,000 divided by 250 is ... 4,000. I don't even think the servers can hold that many people, which kind of confuses me. ... Oh, and I used 1,000,000 instead of 2,000,000. So that means if Bioware equalized it we'd have 8,000 players per server (if every server had an equal population.). Why am I trying to do math? I'm dyscalculic (think dyslexia with numbers), I'm starting to confuse myself and also this is the worst way to average anything ever (as in it's incredibly inaccurate.).
  24. For some odd reason I completely arbitrarily decided to flirt with Watcher Two. We ended up having sex (...I think. It did the whole blackscreen/fadeout thing.). I never took up the romance option with Kaliyo, though. ...Or got her to the point where we had a conversation past the first one you have when you get on your ship for the first time. (If you even got a convo like that with her? Not sure.).
  25. I love this guide; it's been very helpful for me! I haven't really found a guild I enjoy yet, and I recently hit 50 on my Assassin (my Operative was abandoned right after I finished his class story because Kath Hound doesn't have the population for my taste.), so I wanted to see what I could do to start on the whole 'gear treadmill' thing. This was exactly what I was looking for. <3
