  1. I've posted in support of this thread but I will have to disagree with you there Frigid much as I think you are nice usually I think the low quality blurriness in the game IS a big issue too as the bad interface etc, it really ruins it especially when you like to take screenshots of your RP characters. In most cutscenes the close-ups on clothes look horrible too, or near anything in the environment. Blurry nastiness like they made the game for Xbox first or something... swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=75972
  2. Yeah, but that means cross-faction RP is pretty much limited to mostly chance and the occasional pre-organised events on the http://www.swtor-rp.com site - there's no way to say to people "hey, you lot, there's some interesting stuff starting up here about x and such, you should hop IC and come looK" etc
  3. Pleeeeeeease Bioware? http://www.swtor-rp.com/home/m/1639454/article/507073
  4. You should check out the forums on http://www.swtor-rp.com You might find more RP on The Progenitor / Lord Adraas too, those were selected by most RPers as the main RP servers earlier on: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=707
  5. Please Bioware swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=131399&page=5 One of the big things that highights the disparity in how RP is treated compared to PVP: As soon as I login on a RP server, I get told I've joined a "[PVP]" channel straight away, to um, apparently help us in our need to discuss PVP? (along with [General] which of course can never be used for RP due to the spam)... Why is it important to put everyone on a [PVP] channel but not [RP], on RP servers even? Players have made some channels, but people have to seek it out, it just doesn't work for the majority of people, there's usually about what, 30 people, on the player channels out of hundreds upon hundreds on even the two main RP servers The Progenitor (EU) or Lord Adraas (US)... It just isn't working anyone can see at it if they look at the numbers on the channels, it'd be nice if it did but it doesn't, hell the game doesn't even tell you the /cjoin command EXISTS unless a player tells you Most new players don't even realise there are actually channels full of people talking about RP or actually doing RP over channels sometimes too, 0 signposting so most new players tend to assume the people talking about PVE stuff on general is all there is unless they have had someone specifically guide them to the RP channels (especially since there is no channel search feature either) And then to make it worse even when players make chat channels, then block them from being able to talk between factions or even in tells, on a RP server? It's so anachronistic to be blocking chat, if you are scared of PVPers ranting at each other than leave it an option like the profanity filter, but with RP it actually seriously affects the whole community because it restricts what we can do, we can only talk to people from the other faction if we happen to be in the same place by chance or have to arrange it on websites. It's a terrible situation and stops anything just spontaneously happening amongst RPers because there's no way to announce stuff to a lot of people in game whereas if someone wanted to organise a server PVP event they could just say (not that anyone ever actually uses the PVP channel that I've seen, ever, on the two RP servers whereas even with the many obstacles there's still a few people that use the player-created ones)
  6. What the hell? How do you get away with this crap without being moderated like everyone else does when people are attacked in arguments (rather than actually discussing like adults)... And I've never even said anything near to what you attack me, saying people should have names that fit with RP is not one theme, there's thousands of things that people can do... And I make an effort to encourage RP in all parts of the community (the http://www.swtor-rp.com site is a great bastion against the forces of guild cliquism to encourage open RP in the world) Whereas you are a hilarious hypocrite, you RP in a guild clique away from the rest of the community, saying you only want certain types of RP and needing "an interview" ("our application process is fairly lengthy") to join? lol... .... And then, looking at your "elite" RP guild forum, you all have animelike avatars.... Yeah, I think we're done here.

I used to post on the bioware forums but that woo guy put me off, I got banned for some stupid thing I can't even remember and just got fed up years ago There's another group of gamers that hold that distinction. umm from what I read they pretty much jumped through rings (no pun intended) to support gay men in dragon age 2 with very little for les, I haven't even played it and I heard that. fem AND bi/gay? worst of both, you might as well be dead to games companies. I bet of that 89% male game developers statistic from that study above - it sounds like a made up number it's so sad - there's probably more men inclined to write male on male stuff than there are that 11% of women developers full stop even just look at Jack she (as I played it anyway) was Shepherd's best friend, then it comes to "the romance point" and it stops dead like they just "left it blank" for fear of fox news like cowards... I will really be telling people who bring up ME3 (not giving it free publicity) to stay clear of it if they keep it up. >:| we'll see how it goes with star wars

  10. A friend at a magazine forwarded this on to me http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2002/3/29 (contains swears!)
  11. OK I've been flickin through the Twi'lek stuff on http://starwars.wikia.com for writing and roleplaying ideas and I found an interesting article about another Twi'lek warrior ( though I think the idea of "Twi'leks can't fight only shoot/cast spells" SHOULD be pretty much laid to bed with my first post with all those other official stuff of twi'lek warriors it seems a bit to me as I said in the first post that Bioware went "oh they are pretty therefore they can't fight" a bit sexistly... ), seems pretty cool I've never seen any of it I don't think it's been shown in the UK at least on normal channels, shame it sounds interesting I guess I have another thing to google lol, this is from an old version of the starwars.com website buried away in The Internet Archive: web.archive.org/web/20100830150436/starwars.com/theclonewars/news20100101.html There was more from the same series apparently a whole set of stuff set on the Twi'leks' home planet Ryloth, they actually officially called it The Ryloth Trilogy... Cool. • "Storm Over Ryloth" web.archive.org/web/20100420031018/starwars.com/theclonewars/guide/episode019.html •• A Battle Over Ryloth Begins A behind-the-scenes preview article with quotes from the director and writer. "writer George Krstic [..]"This is a very epic episode -- it;s grand and operatic ala the old days of the original Star Wars,"" • "Innocents of Ryloth" web.archive.org/web/20100414053449/starwars.com/theclonewars/guide/episode020.html •• Innocents Caught in the Crossfire A behind-the-scenes preview article with quotes from writer Henry Gilroy. • "Liberty on Ryloth" web.archive.org/web/20100329234500/starwars.com/theclonewars/guide/episode021.html seems a bit like things never get better for them, do they? with that stuff about the resistance leader offering food to the republic even though they barely have anything themselves, and the whole thing really, it makes them sound like a very noble race that's struggled through hell for centuries rather than how TOR, at least on the character creator, portrays them as very 2 "they are slaves" and little more •• Mace Windu Concludes Ryloth Trilogy A behind-the-scenes article, with quotes from the writer and director. ( seems like that webcomic web.archive.org/web/*/starwars.com/clonewars/comic/main.swf is gone forever since they used Flash for it and not proper webpages The Internet Archive wasn't able to save the actual comic only the "main.swf" reader thing which doesn't work if the other files aren't there I tried hacking into it with a Flash decompiler program but I can't find any links to the picture files anywhere ) Tooka Doll Craft Make your own adorable tooka doll, like the kind Numa carries., By Bonnie Burton awwwwhhhhhh I love The Internet Archive! http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tooka_doll Cuteeee ^ I found this when googling that, too: chinesetookadollviablog.jpg (on a blog in Chinese I have no idea what is going on but it has a great big gallery of screenshots from this tv series which is cool, like, 100+ pages but really low quality tiny pics sadly: blog.yahoo.com/_NJPQINQPK5XNCCMTZKMBFR443A/photos) And on the wikia that article says a ship called the Halo had a Tooka doll on the nose art... So I looked that up, and awhhh someone nicely scanned in the picture from one of the books! starwars.wikia.com/wiki/File:HaloNoseart.jpg "nose art of the Halo. Aurebesh reads "Nice Playing With Ya."", Source: The Clone Wars: Season Two DVD production journal, le Guerre dei Cloni: Il Buono, Il Brutto, La Bella" What's interesting about that is it says that ship was owned by not a Twi'lek but "a female Zabrak bounty hunter and mercenary by the name of Sugi", maybe it's well-known instory or maybe other races have "tooka dolls" for toys when young too, hmm, I wonder if it's meant to represent any particular creature it doesn't really give much clues Totally imagining Sith now as secretly having a Tooka doll hidden under her bed for when it gets too much I think pretty much all Sith are gonna have to be emotionally scarred in some way hmm just various levels of pent-up ... totally thinking of that bit from the intro of American McGee's Alice now, with the rabbit doll creepily talking to her: hehe. anyway yeah, looks like I have a couple blurays to buy I really want to watch this now torn between that and writing, lol.
  12. Yeah the problem is tht the whole model of listening to the loudest is flawed because the PVP players tend to be more aggressive by nature, those few of us that speak up are a rarity amongst RPers and we can't do *everything* lol. they should start asking what people on the RP official forum and SWTOR-RP.com want if they aren't going to listen to us, it seems 4reddit is more important... http://www.swtor-rp.com/home/m/1639454/article/498102
  13. I didn't even know about that. ^ ^ ^

  15. Just to remind everyone, the big RP event (grand opening of 'The Velvet Pearl', a cross faction player run Casino and Gentlemens Club in Nar Shaddaa) starts 5 hours from now at 9pm GMT ( aka UK time, http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock )! at Nar Shadda, the Lower Promenade area and Slippery Slopes (accessible for both factions) On the main EU RP server (super-server), The Progenitor More info here: www.swtor-rp.com/progenitor/page/1/m/3305111/viewthread/1896743-grand-opening-at-velvet-pearl-07012012-9-pm-gmt If you decide you want to become a regular visitor afterwards, you can sign up here: http://velvetpearl.enjin.com (uses the same login as the SWTOR-RP site, on this really great "Enjin" site which is a bit like Facebook for games, I found it a couple of days ago and think it's brilliant) (I'm not a member and do not speak for the guild so please direct all questions to their website, it's just nice to see more "baddy" guilds)
  16. Other chat channels of note: On The Progenitor, /cjoin rp as well as /cjoin rpempire and /cjoin rprepublic - hopefully Bioware will put interfaction chat in at some point, at least for RP servers - it really is a pain at the moment organising events On Lord Adraas, /cjoin swtorrp as well (I'm not sure why this isn't in the first post!) and /cjoin rp (really, it shold be just rp, as we know what game we are playing already, but the preorder people screwed up and that's why we're stuck with the silly names for most channels because it's hard to get people to move now) as well as /cjoin imperialnet and /cjoin republicnet and there is also another one but I can't remember the name
  17. Saying that people should avoid RPing openly anywhere and ghettoise into "guild" cliques even more sounds like a great plan, if you want to kill off RP by making it very boringly all based on strict themes with no one talking to each other outside guilds and newbies not seeing any RP in open areas so thinking RP is dead and then leaving the game/not finding out what Rp is in the first place
  18. Thanks, I guess it only works when people see for themselves though no one wants to believe that human nature sucks as much as it does, lol
  19. non-RPers clog up the server due to the very silly instancing system Bioware put in without any consideration on how it would affect social players - often newbies will wander into somewhere like the cantina and find it's empty and not realise unless told there's a tiny little instancechanger thing in the map on the bottomright. It's even worse when instance #1 is full so RPers who want to come join the people that are actually using the server for what it's for, are literally forced away from joining their friends because of the people who shouldn't even be there... http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=107561
  20. ^ **** Bioware, wow... Everyone report it maybe they will actually put a rule in for the RP servers so they are actually Rp...? Press \ ingame (or press the ? at topright and on the window that pops up, click the tab at the bottom for Request Help) then click Submit Name Report
  21. Why? We're not all super starwars experts
  22. non-RPers clog up the server due to the very silly instancing system Bioware put in without any consideration on how it would affect social players - often newbies will wander into somewhere like the cantina and find it's empty and not realise unless told there's a tiny little instancechanger thing in the map on the bottomright. It's even worse when instance #1 is full so RPers are literally blocked out of RPing by the grindernerds
  23. It's /me whatever *not* /emote They should put in an alias though since it doesn't actually explain it anyway though, definitely - and there should be a better RP help file and a better introduction to using the chat interface to get people being more social
  24. I would actually be greatly amused by the [Trade] channel being used for stuff like this, it is where it would belong if you think about it, why is RP trade less important than grinder trade? Haha. Yet still a bit of a rebelliously "lets use the channels on the RP servers for actually talking about RP stuff and ignore the trolls" attitude to it I'd actually probably even find the kind of people who go "DURR MY STAFF OF FATNERD +400 DSP FOR SALE" "LFG ASDF FA GSDG DSAC NERDBOYSWEMADEOUROWNLANGUAGEINACRONYMS" spamming trying to troll much more entertaining than their usual drivel even haha. Do it, lol!
