  1. Any guilds recruiting on The Progenitor(UK & EU) that can do this stuff and do raids and things, please send a PM, I'd love to try that side of the game but could never really get into it due to the wall of grind, I actually left the game and came back recently (click my profile and post history) cos I was bored!
  2. I find the RP on The Progenitor (UK & EU) tends to be more mature and less cheesy than on Ebon Hawk (America), in general. I think American roleplay is often a bit tainted by the "comic culture" there where infantile writing is more common, but it's not all like that. But you do seem to meet LOLrpers a lot more. I knew a couple of really good American RPers like Vullil'anussahn / Rothe but she has stopped playing it seems like and no one I know has any contact with her which is a damn shame... I think she played the meanest. and well thought out (political machinations....) Sith lord around over there. I just wish a bit of style wasn't so hard to find over there.
  3. Sounds like your typical gorean master on another platform I play. Forcing certain types of RP on a person is wrong and approaching someone thinking they're okay with all aspects of RP is idiotic especially with material that has sexual themes. It would be great if they would let your character have a profile on here so you can lay out a story and some limits to what kind of RPing you will do. Gorean for me is on the same level as Chav. Ugh. Anyway, why I hate 90% of Republic players: They have no concept of cheesy. This gets a lot less worse when you play on The Progenitor (UK & EU) instead of Ebon Hawk (America) though.
  4. I like this thread, there should be more effort to be inclusive for new players I think ingame too, I don't like how guild RP tends to get people out of the public areas and away from the streets so that there's less chance of new players being able to see RP happening and get interested in it, and possibly even join in - it's much better I think if everyone just tries to keep it "real"
  5. This is still the RP forum The new one is for stuff that's specific to one individual server only unless you're the type that never talks to anyone outside their server -> Official RP forums - Server Events! - IC news/gossip - Story & Lore - Fan fiction - Fan Art - Character list <-
  6. I like this thread, there should be more effort to be inclusive for new players I think ingame too, I don't like how guild RP tends to get people out of the public areas and away from the streets so that there's less chance of new players being able to see RP happening and get interested in it, and possibly even join in - it's much better I think if everyone just tries to keep it "real" There's another thread about dealing with channel problems here, I just posted a reply: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=204594&page=3 I think the only real answer is for Bioware to start lurking on channels since player-ran communities always turn out bad due to the type of people that rise to the top, well... it's often not the cream that rises to the top usually in the real world either, people do it for the wrong reasons, power, control and need for self justification in the face of inferiority complexes - like with fan site self-appointed "owners", "administrators" and "Editor-in-Chief"s, it often ends up with people that have not-so-good real lives soothing their egos by bullying others online. This isn't specific to any one particular server - it's in the right forum.
  7. The ones with the most RPers (you get the number of people on the public channels ingame when you join them) are The Progenitor for EU or Lord Adraas for US
  8. Agree, I said that on the day the game came out! When i was looking at the races and thinking about what to RP! swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=71964 - Oh, and like this thread, they seem cool, I have a few friends that are RPing Rattatakis I'm not sure if I am going to make my Bounty Hunter one or wait and see if they finally fix it so Twi'leks can wear Bounty Hunter stuff too, it seemed kinda lazy to miss a lot of races out on stuff
  9. It would be great if Bioware would make the [RP] and [OOC] channels official like the [PVP] one, and then give us the option to have player-created channels as well - that would solve/safeguard against the problem of any one person or group "owning" RP on a server, and give the people who want a less trollish environment an alternative but whilst still havign a main central point for all RPers, so that newbies are not left out in the cold not realising where everyone has gone to - it's important in the longterm to be make sure newcomers can stumble across the community without needing someone to lead them there in advance, because most people will come in on their own not with friends to help show them where everything is - and if there's no RP they'll either just get sucked into grinding until they get bored or find a different game they think has more RP (not having any idea that everyone's only just moved a few rooms away) Ccounter that negativity by just simply being positive and doing your thing in game wherever you are. Don't get yourself enmeshed in their baggage and show people how to have fun by doing your thing. Make connections between guilds, try to make the guild-players open up more to the rest of the community instead of hiding inside their shells, and foster alliances. Go out there and be an example, actively RP'ng and being a catalyst for others. Ideas for regular RP spots are great. Do it. Inform people of what you're up to in game and out and then just go do it. Don't try to organize or make it a big job. Do it because you think the idea sounds fun. Enlightened self-interest moves the world. Tap into that and you show others how to do the same. Role-playing is a self pollinator. Once it's present consistently in a location it will spread of its own accord.
  10. Ditto QfT! C'mon Bioware, it's a license to print money. While I would call them something different, I gotta agree. I want them to implement this pretty soon, as I'm not romancing anyone until I can romance a hot female alien. lol. They knew that guys were going to play female toons, so it should be in already, (I ain't gettin' with no dude, nah.) but whatev. This. I play a female warrior sith and want to romance jaenessa but obviously I can't due to the lack of same gender relationships. I'm going to be so bummed if they don't retroactively allow us to romance past companions. I dig jaenessa but it seems like maybe I made a mistake by picking what I think is a cooler looking female character. Serious question, does anyone know if we will retroactively be able to romance current companions when same sex is added or only new ones? I'm going to be so bummed if it isn't retroactive.... You should already be bummed then, they only want to add it in for NEW companions, rather than trying to retcon all the current companions. I am personally refusing to romance on my female SI till they add in a female I can seduce, cus Pirate and Archaeology guy are fail romance options. Then again they should probably just let us go after Ashara as a forgiveness for the crappy storyline of the SI, but thats a different topic. Where did you hear this? Did they state that? If that's the case, I'm really *********** bummed. I mean, I am playing this game as an MMO and going to primarily PvP and raid so it isn't a HUGE deal but I do kinda like jaessa for some reason. They should have just added this **** at release. With that said...I'm really thinking about rerolling a male just so I can get the character I want... io9.com/5231437/the-force-is-not-with-queer-people-in-the-star-wars-universe darthhater.com/devtracker/topic/7215-official-statement-on-same-gender-romance-arcs-in-star-wars-the-old-republic rockpapershotgun.com/2011/09/14/same-sex-relations-in-swtor-post-release? I haven't seen anyone argue against this, it seems Bioware seems to have a history of doing this with the Mass Effect games and now Mass Effect 3 keeping Jack in the obviously-censored-made-for-Fox-News straightness as well as "toning her down"
  11. One thing that would be good would be in the Roleplaying section to have a link inside that to the Events section, as I think a lot of RPers mainly read the RP forums and not the events... I think basically you need a way for a forum to be a subforum of multiple forums for that to work. That way you could also have a link within the RP forum to fanfiction as well - it seems the best to duplicate links like that in a few places (another example, a link to the guild recruitment forum from within the RP forum) to make it easier to browse for people that don't think like a search crawler e.g. make sections easy to see from the main list, not buried down within other links Click-through rate on such things is very small, you need to grab peoples' attention so they can find what they want without getting lost
  12. You have a point there, for aussies and west american, I totally didn't think about that as I'm not from america (embarassed about the aussie bit cos I have friends in australia, i just didn't think about the whole timezone aspect), I know the time difference is quite big for americans from east to west though, 4 hours isn't it almost the same difference from east america to UK (5 hours), of course - a West coast superserver sounds like a very good idea Trying to cause trouble in a thread with the aim of getting it shut down only works with moderators that are kinda new to the internet, you should know better to do it with people who are actually doing it as a paid job
  13. I never insulted anyone, unlike people that keep coming into the thread to insult me, the people who organised this, and then stat trying to trash the idea by attacking anyone involved again... I'm not allowed to mention names, but everyone knows who they are, it's the same guild people that were responsible for causing drama in preorder every time... Like I said before I made a big effort to get to the bottom of it to try get both sides, as an outsider to the whole thing to find out what was going on - and it was simple stubbornness by guild leaders wanting to carve up their pieces of territory that was the only reason people wouldn't work together - it's just a waste when RPers could do so much better... The only reason I have to be assertive in supporting the Lord Adraas and The Progenitor is because of the people that keep coming in to do nothing but attack (and shout desperately for people to come RP to fill their RP-empty servers instead)... That is exactly the kind of thing I mean, you start faux complimenting then switch unsubtly to "oh but they are actually very bad, don't go there newbies!" mode, it's just snipey slimy smearing, and not even true. I for one wasn't in preorder (I barely knew anything about star wars before trying this game out if you had asked me what a twi'lek was I would have looked at you oddly hehe), I just do my research... I wish I could say the same for the people that keep blindly attacking when they don't know that everyone tried to help get RPers to work together in preorder but the guildies ran down the idea because they wanted their own little areas to be emperors of... I hope you're happy about other people coming into your shouts-for-attention threads and sniping at your servers. I think this is about the time people started doing the same as you lot do on this thread constantly, since your lot seem to get away with it.
  14. Yeah, that's pretty much it - the amount of RP organised on The Progenitor and Lord Adraas through http://www.swtor-rp.com is great Nar Shadda cantina on The Progenitor is also very busy
  15. I'm just glad that on http://www.swtor-rp.com at least they are less tolerant of trolls and that people The Progenitor and Lord Adraas actually RP instead of spending most of their time shouting plaintitively for anyone to come RP with them on the forums...
  16. Lord Adraas and The Progenitor are definitely the busiest, you only have to look at the forums on http://www.swtor-rp.com to see that, or simply /cjoin RP and /cjoin OOC and /cjoin swtorrp you see a flood of players spam your screen, people that actually RP not just grinders. Can walk into the imperial fleet cantina, drummond or nar shadda cantinas at any hour and find people RPing, it's great Ebon hawk and shien are ghost towns, the only people that actualy RP there spend most of their time on the forums shouting plaintitively for someone to come RP with them.
  17. Lord Adraas is the most active US server for RP (The Progenitor for EU) See here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=707
  18. I just love how much more RP there is on The Progenitor and Lord Adraas when people pull together and genuinely try to make a community instead of splitting off to do their own thing and damn everyone else, it's just so refreshing when good things actually happen despite the best attempts of guild leaders from dead servers constnatly trying to stir up trouble The people that run http://www.swtor-rp.com should be proud, like I said before if you look at my old posts I was suspicious at first, but it's definitely better than the whole Lord of the Flies situation with a thousand different tinpot dictators that there is literally no way for a community to pull together - this idea gives true hope to RP lasting in the long term.
  19. You just go around and around in circles skirting the issue, the point is that The Progenitor and Lord Adraas have the majority of RPers on them... I guess you know that if you denied that it'd be too obvious a lie... Anyone who's actually tried out more than one server (like me, yes) knows this... If you did not think the other servers were sinking ships regarding RP then why do you come into this thread about the super-servers and attack us constantly where no one has done the same on the multiple spam threads desperately trying to get attention for the other servers - is this thread that much of a threat to you?
  20. There are far more RPers on The Progenitor and Lord Adraas no matter how much you peddle away... I really doubt anyone would want to join a server where what little RP there is is organised by one person alone...
  21. I've only been on the outside, trying to clear up the mess that YOU guildies made. And as for "being on the right server" know how that is? It's cos I actually made an effort to work with others and actually made a decision to what server to join instead of just following a guild leader like a sheep...
  22. Check out the first post that says it better than me, I know I can be shouty lol, just annoyed
  23. Yeah thanks for that but you know I didn't "forget"... Nearly all the people that actually RP instead of do raid stuff are on The Progenitor or Lord Adraas as per the first post and the big semi-official http://www.swtor-rp.com ... Just look at my old posts and you'll see that I was very distrustful of the idea of any people running a site at first, I am totally neutral in this - I actually said it seemed too similar to a guild before, but I recently registered and looked at it very carefully and it seems very openly run - and I think they know if they started behaving in the way that guild leaders can act then they would lose their community pretty quickly - I think it's definitely safe to give the all clear now. If there were not guild leaders and their interests involved then as people have said before there would have been no problems... I wasn't even playing when this happened, so I have no stake in it, I'm not getting anything out of it, I'm looking at this from the outside in a kinda disappointed way that human nature always screws up. I'm not in any guild because I like being a free spirit and also because I don't trust the various cliques to not act like children. This is one such case, I've read about the split from people on both sides and the whole thing was just petty drama when at any point guild leaders could have said "no, we will work together" they went ahead and did their own thing and screw everyone else.. If people had put aside their rivalries, there would be no problem with people playing together... Granted Bioware seems to have done as much to scupper the idea of a cohesive RP community as possible, but there's no reason why people still can't try, and help direct new players to building things up to be better for the future at least... I'm not getting anything out of it, unlike the various guild interests that I see all over aggressively pushing people to sign up on their almost empty servers so they can try control people more. http://www.swtor-rp.com and The Progenitor / Lord Adraas are definitely the way forward to help *everyone* not just the interests of guild leaders in maintaining control over their flock...
  24. Most of the people on Lord Adraas seem to be using the RP channel as an OOC channel, with another channel for OOC - there seems to be an equal split between OOCers between OOC and swtorrp, which is a shame, I wish the preorder people had sorted themselves out better because it seems like most people are simply going to stay put and split up, a bit like the whole people who got left behind on other servers The Progenitor has loads of RP on EU too though, I just keep coming on quite late and the timezones make it easier visiting US sometimes
  25. EXACTLY, it always worked perfectly on cityofvillains.com / cityofheroes.com, even before they gave people the ability to switch between dark/light side: i52.tinypic.com/zurvia.png - intra-server too!
