  2. 1000% support individual server forums. its hard to have a sense for your specific server community without server forums. How am i supposed to know who thinks they are tuff **** so i can beat them down to show them they arent without a server forum for them to brag in in the first place? Also, community events, like a open world pvp night on a random planet are impossible to set up without a central location (server forum) for people to get the information from.
  3. that made me lol. lets see who is the best pvp team in a wz that can be won without any pvp. the idiocy....it burns...it burns! you want to see who is really better at pvp you goto a planet like tatooine and setup a fight there where its your group vs their group. also, **** talking across the whole game where most of us cant show you how wrong you are is just dumb.
  4. i lol'd it never occured to you to just run away from him and pull him close? how do you get to max level without learning how to use the abilities given to you? also, commandos need to stand still to do any real damage so you should be able to catch them when they do. This is up there with guardians complaining about being kited. thats right, a class with a base charge and talented free aoe snare is getting kited. half the issues i see on the forums are l2p issues masked as "x is impossible to beat with y" even tho x has all the tools needed to beat y. the only class i have any issues against as a vanguard is a properly played mara. they just hit too hard too fast for me to overcome. key word in that last sentence was "PROPERLY", bad mara die just like everyone else.
  5. http://www.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/guardian/17/?build=031202203010000000000000000000323020 Thats my 14/27 pvp tank build, works for normal OPs and Hard mode fp mt as well. hits hard and has all the defensive cd's. use dps gear slotted with the crit/surge enhancements from JK champ gloves/helm and you'll hit fairly hard pretty often and not die to boot. *Disclaimer* My Guardian is v53(full champ w/ some rakata) and shelved because i kept losing to powertechs 1v1 (no one else) and said "f.uck it, if i can't beat them i might as well join them"
  6. so you built your guardian for dps and are wondering why you dont have tank abilities? my guardian is 14/27/0 because it gives the best damage reduction while keeping the defensive cd's and good damage. also, you are clearly not playing in soresu form which is required if you dont wanna asplode in pvp. in soresu i have 50% damage reduction and 20% vs ele/internal. thats vs 30% and 5% respectivly in the other forms. this is a l2p issue.
  7. i came to the vanguard from guardian, i'm used to sitting in close as a melee so getting extra in close abilites makes sense to me. also, stockstrike is 45% chance to reset and make free next hib, so while in there for ss i use gut as well then bounce out of melee. personally i havent found a 31 point ability that is really worth taking for pvp. for pve, yea i can see going full into a tree, but there are just so many other things i want that the points are better spent elsewere imo.

  9. crappy rotation is crappy, you wasted 1 free blade storm and used a 1min cd cc that clears your force leap way way way too early, force sweep after blade storm, or after bs + ss. also, the first 2 hits on master strike take 1.5s and = the 3rd hit of master strike that also takes 1.5s. so you dont really gain any dps by canceling, dunno why people keep thinking it increases your dps to cancel it. i kinda agree with the OP that guardians are fine, but thats only cuz i own everything cept powertechs with mine. my guardian is full champ gear with a 14/27/0 build, is crazy hard to kill and does good damage. still, i want a buff for guardians cuz then i'll be op and the rest who play guardians will just be p.
  10. i do the same thing with force leap on my guardian, as long as you use the ability while in the air before you hit the ground then you will take 0 fall damage.
  11. so you dont have trouble, so you arent who i was talkn about. you're like me and will be godly if we get buffed, good for you. i never said i had it 'easy mode' i said that i think the class is amazing because of what i can do with it. that others cannot do what i can doesnt mean the class is bad, especially since there are no macros so its not like i'm hitting less keys to be more effective. your next claim is that even BW says the class needs a buff. the only reason they would be saying that is because the customers who play said class keep whining about it and bw is trying to shut them up. to me, this is going to cause me to become even more powerful while the majority becomes average. i have played all other tanks (50 sin was first toon i made, 50 guardian second, working on vanguard now) i agree that tanking on sin and van is a little easier, but a sin is not mobile like i am and a van cannot control people like my guardian can. different classes are different even if their stated goal is the same. in closing i'll repeat, thanks for whining so hard that a good class is now getting buffed which will in turn make all of us guardians who dont suck that much better.
  12. server is mandalore, not sure why you think we're keyboard turners unless u read what i wrote while high. i'ma reitterate for you, less movement options = bad. more movement options = good. just because YOU dont understand when backpedaling can be usefull does not mean its never useful.
  13. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500srMczZhGMMrhzdMM.1 thats the build that i use, mostly vig with only the good for pvp stuff taken from def. i have no issues killing anything cept powertechs cuz **** them thats why. i digress. going all the way upto plasma brand isnt worth it, while it is a great ability, that it has a prereq to be able to use it and it costs 5 focus make it not very good for pvp. in pvp you might have to switch targets on a moments notice and that means that you will not get to use plasma brand as often as you would like. i've tried focus, but it is just too much setup for 1 ability that is fairly easy to avoid. i've also done a def heavy build, and while i was stupid hard to kill even in pvp, i could not kill anything. this current build gives u ok damage and good survivability, all that it needs to work well is gear itemized for dps, crit/power/surge.
  14. there are 3 hits in master strike, the first 2 = the third, so u get 500+500+1000 from the 3 hits. so if you wait the first 1.5 seconds for 1000 damage why not wait the remaining 1.5 seconds for the second half of the damage the ability does? the range on master strike is actually fairly large, you dont need to be on top of your target for the last hit to connect, seems about 2-3m range. i only cancel half way through if i know the last hit wont connect, or if i have a harder hitting ability i can use, otherwise i just let it finish. on a side note, killing people with the third hit of master strike (as a guardian anyway) is just very satisfying.
  15. i'm 14/27/0 guardian and i **** **** up, take forever to die and am all around awesome (cept against powertechs, **** powertechs). the key with the guardian is to spec defensive and gear like a dps. you having problems is because YOU have problems, not the class.

  17. powertechs are the only class that i have trouble with as a hybrid vig/def guardian. 14/27/0 with all dps pvp gear. there is pretty much nothing i can do to kill a powertech, even if i do everything perfectly i still wont win against a powertech with equal gear. other then powertechs, my guardian is a beast in 1v1 situations. i'm not sure why powertechs eat me like they do when not even ops can do that, but it is what it is. @ OP, tank spec'd tanks who gear with crit/surge/power are very hard to kill and do decent damage, not good but decent. we keep people alive, and control enemies to make it easier for our team to kill people. i've personally been responsible for many guarded healer deaths even tho i didnt kill the healer. i just controled him and his guard buddy well enough that the guard couldnt keep the healer alive while my buddies killed him. pvp is not only about dps and who can hit the hardest, there are many other aspects you need to take into account. pls come back when you've finally had this epiphany.
  18. focus is a 1 trick pony, easily countered by running out of range of sweep. also you lose so much by going focus that i cant see any reason to use it. my current pvp spec is 14/27/0, using soresu 100% of the time. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500srMczZhGMMrhzdMM.1 this build gives you great mobility, good focus efficiency and good damage, and with the 4% extra damage recduction in soresu i have 50% damage reduction which is 3% more then the full tank spec guardian in soresu with equiv gear. you want to be a true pvp tank use my build, you want to be a cute loldps with only 1 really hard hitting ability that has a bunch of requirements to get the most out of it go focus. I will say this about focus tho, every once in a while when everything lines up people go pop and that can be very satisfying. It just doesnt happen often enough for me to justify doing it when i can own pretty much everyone with no downtime using my build.
  19. i'd just like to add that if you guys get the buffs you want for the guardian, those of us like me who find the class amazing are gonna be gods. please please please keep whining till i get buffed to ridiculous levels and then get us nerfed back to where we started. I think you guys are doing something wrong if you're having this much trouble. either you are undergeared, your companion is undergeared or you just dont understand how to actually use the abilites the class gives us. I have no issues in pve or pvp (cept for powertechs, **** powertechs, i cant touch them and they eat me alive in 1v1 fights). the only pve that gave me ANY trouble was the last class quest to kill the emp. that took me 4 tries to complete and when i did, i had over 80% hp left when i finished. my problem wasnt an undergeared companion (my t7 was in lvl 14-17 gear), it was my bad tactics and positioning. In closing, please keep whining for guardian buffs so i can finally kill everyone 1v1 including powertechs.

DO NOT UNBIND THE "S" KEY!!! only noobs who think they are good will unbind it. backpedaling is a key pvp tactic useful against classes with rear positionals, snare and circle strafe backwards the opposite direction that they are attempting to strafe. this keeps them squarely in front of you so they cant attack with positionals which are always stronger than non-positional attacks. only a baddie would think that reducing your overall options with regards to mobility is a good idea. for all the rest of you, please go ahead and just run away while i own you from behind where you cannot attack me and i get free hits.
  21. untill you get gear, full def with a lil vig, 29/12/0. once you have around 500 expertise i'd switch it up to 14/27/0 running is soresu the whole time.

  24. so you're saying that without them you arent as good as if you have them, which means that you're bad. so somehow you being bad and needing them means i'm bad cuz i dont need them. your logic is flawed, any macros are to make something easier, like binding 1 to an attack instead of having to click it. you just want to be able to bind certain things into a chain so you can cast them faster, but thats not a crutch somehow. the cognitive dissonance in this thread from the pro macro people is amazing. "i'm ****n amazing and you all suck thats why i need macros"
  25. So what you just said is that there are a ton of things you'd like to do in combat but you cannot do them without having something help you do it better. Those of us who CAN do that without help shouldnt care that you need the help because we can already do it and you just want to be on our level. thats what macros are for, making things easier for those who cannot do it normally. The only Macro that i used in WoW pvp was to swap to my s/b so that i could manually cast reflect. Sure i could have added cast reflect into that macro to make myself even more efficient, but where does skill come in if i can setup my 30+ abilities to fire off of 5 keys? Macros are for those who are unable to perform at a high level without help. Those of us who can should be lauded for it instead of being grouped with people who need major assistance. TL;DR - Macros are just like steroids, without them you're not as good as you are with them. Not a reason to add them.
