  1. As many as there need to be to pace the flashpoint between bosses. Revan has never been aligned with the greater goals of the Jedi Order. He entered the Mandalorian Wars against their explicit commands, taking a number of Jedi with him. Is it so hard to believe that he did the same with the Foundry, especially since he probably never even talked to the Council (after all, he had essentially been declared a heretic after the Battle of Rakata Prime. He was left alone only because he agreed not to spread his heresy among the rest of the Jedi) after his rescue from the Maelstrom. Revan's actions are not a barometer for the Jedi order or the Republic any more than the Emperor's actions are a barometer for the Sith Order or the Empire. I guarantee you had the Dark Council grasped what the Emperor's little cult was doing, they'd have put a stop to it themselves.
  2. The Empire is there to serve the needs of the Sith and Humans that make it up. That's pretty much it. Since the False Emperor debacle, however, the Empire has opened up to be a bit more inclusive of aliens, but it's still far from being as cosmopolitan as the Republic. Supporters of the Empire believe in a highly structured society, where everyone has his role that serves the betterment of the society. It's very Animal Farm. Everyone is equal, except the Sith. And by everyone, we mean non-force sensitive humans and sith. Other species are worthy only of serving. The Empire's main reason for existence is to exact retribution on the Republic and the Jedi for the Exile of the Dark Jedi (who bred with the original Sith to make the Sith we have in the game's time) and the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War, where the Republic couldn't leave well enough alone and decided to wipe out the Sith entirely. They're actually a very good example of a people who were horribly wronged and have chosen to address their grievances in a very violent manner. So, you can sympathize with them, but you also hate them because they're just such bad people. Of course, there are good people stuck in crappy situations there, too. But the visible face of the Empire is a pale, spider-veined, sunken-eyed terror.
  3. It does seem like Steve Blum and Cat Taber got a large portion of the voices, doesn't it? The reason for this is likely SAG rules. As I understand it, if you call someone in for voice work, you have to pay them for a full day. So, they might as well use them while they're there and give them multiple parts.
  4. I agree. They make excellent premises for new games. They'd make outstanding single-player games. I'd love to see more class stuff. But we're already at the apex of our respective professions. We're at the ceiling of personal achievement for our respective classes. Sure, the Warrior could go out and kill off a few Darths (Marr comes to mind as a particularly mouthy non-believer), but I've a feeling that the next time we see the Emperor, he'll be the bad guy both sides team up (or, at the very least, stay out of each other's ways) to kill, including his Wrath. Like I said, I'd love to see more. But I don't think it's in the cards.
  5. Yep. And then remember what Kira's storyline is all about. She didn't like it when the Emperor overrode her will and made her do majorly bad things. So, in that exchange, you're the Emperor, and the squad is her. Force Persuade should not be used willy-nilly. People should defect because they believe it's right--not because they're forced to. Obi-Wan didn't Force Persuade Luke to go with him to Alderaan. He used it on Stormtroopers--not to tell them to desert, but to get them past a checkpoint. The guy with the Deathsticks thing? It wasn't "You never want to sell these again." It was "You want to gohome and rethink your life." The choice would still be his; Obi-Wan just caused him to reflect on his life.
  6. Very sad that this interview was not filmed. I adore Lamalla's voice after that time we met on Ord Mantell. Oh, sure. The Baron's got a great voice, too.
  7. I don't really buy the whole "it's better for grouping" reasoning. No one groups on Makeb, except for the heroic mission you get early on. Or for the Heroic missions in the weekly, but once you get the achievements, there's no reason to do them again. So, unless they're planning on making a lot more heroic missions, the grouping experience reason is pretty weak. Not to mention that if they actually did that, the playerbase would raise holy hell because they couldn't solo the content. I figured they'd cut down on class content, though. Think of TOR as a bigger, Star Wars-themed Dragon Age: Origins. The class story is your origin. Ilum is where your new recruit meets up with the others and undergoes his test to become a Grey Warden. CLASS SPOILERS AHEAD I'd like to see more class content, but, really, where can they go? The Consular is a Master, and has defeated the Emperor's First Son. The Jedi Knight defeated the Emperor. The Trooper's a pretty high-ranking officer that probably shouldn't be commanding such a small squad. The Smuggler's got a fairly regular gig with the Republic and outed an Imperial Intelligence asset highly placed in the underworld. The Inquisitor is a member of the Dark Council. The Warrior is the Emperor's personal hitman and enforcer. The Bounty Hunter is the most widely recognized hunter in the galaxy, responsible for taking down the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic and possibly killing a high-ranking Darth. And Imperial Intelligence has been disbanded, so the Agent is a freelancer whose loyalties could be anywhere. CLASS SPOILERS END Where else can we go individually, really?
  8. Ask the person who brought her up. He stated that Treek was placed on the market so that people could bypass her Legacy requirement, when, in fact, it was the opposite. She was placed in the Legacy window so people could bypass the market. I believe it has something to do with people wanting a Legacy Level 50 requirement to unlock the datacrons, which is acceptable, I think.
  9. I'm well aware of how to purchase her and unlock her. For the record, I paid the million for one character and then I unlocked her on the account for 700 CC. But all of that has nothing to do with what I wrote. I said that the intention was for her to be a cartel market item. The Legacy option was the alternate method. The Legacy level requirement has nothing at all to do with the intentions of the developers as revealed by their own posts.
  10. Actually, it's more akin to being able to earn commendations on one character and then sending the gear to another character that didn't earn it. We can do that already with Legacy-bound gear. This is incorrect. The wording to explain the presence of Treek in the cartel market pretty much outright said that Treek was meant for the cartel market, and that the ability to buy with credits through the legacy window was the alternate method. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=6494139#post6494139 "Having her be a part of the Legacy system allowed an avenue for players to get her without spending any of their Cartel Coins if they wanted!"
  11. I do everything but Trok on my Juggernaut or Guardian with full basic-comm gear for me and my companion. I've got Treek decked out in Basic-comm Combat medic gear, too.
  12. Same here. I'm now hoarding rep trophies and contracts to unlock all kingpins on my characters so I can help out others in the future events.
  13. Other MMOs have done this. it works fine there. TOR is not so special that the same thing won't work here.
  14. Ahsoka was no longer a Jedi. Thus, Order 66, which was the contingency to eliminate the Jedi if they tried to usurp the Supreme Chancellor's authority, did not apply to her. We don't know, however, if she escaped the Purge. Did Rex obey? I'm sure he did. Unlike Cody, he didn't have to attack the guy that befriended him, as Vader was exempt from Order 66.
  15. Having more than a few acquaintances that are into the cosplay thing, I know from second-hand experience that cosplay is cutthroat and full of drama. The people involved in it can be brutally catty and vindictive, especially if you're not in the "in" crowd. One of those friends who was highly into the cosplay scene was a photographer. The attitudes of the people he met on a regular basis caused him to retire from cosplay photography and even sell his camera. And after he did that, 95% of his cosplay "friends" won't talk to him anymore. As for me, once I can afford it, I'll be getting my Jace Malcom Republic Trooper armor and Lord Adraas (Eliminator's set) costume made.
  16. The Elder Scrolls games are not just overrated. They are out and out not fun. Sure, you can do a lot of stuff in them, and that sounds cool, but the interface and controls make actually doing any of that cool stuff a chore. Saints Row games blow GTA games out of the water because they revel in the absurdity of the genre. GTA takes itself too seriously, and that makes the game less fun than it should be. A Link to the Past is the best Zelda game ever made. But Wind Waker is a close second. Simon's Quest was a much better game than the original Castlevania. No Super Mario game has ever been able to match the pure mastery of the genre that was Super Mario World. When compared to most of the series, Final Fantasy 7 was ... not good. FF 6 and FF4 are the apex of that series. Dragon Quest blows Final Fantasy away, especially since FF became movies with short gameplay segments interspersed. Super Smash Brothers and its sequels are all boring, trite games. Dead or Alive trumps Soul Calibur every time, but Virtua Fighter ruled the 3D fighter genre. Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be. It wasn't good, but it wasn't terrible, either. World of Warcraft was and still is a great game. It's just not a game I wish to go back to playing. Despite its huge performance issues, EverQuest II is the greatest fantasy MMORPG ever made, but it was even better at release than it is now. Diablo and its sequels are boring, monotonous clickfests. Your time is better served getting your hands on the CE DVDs and watching the cutscenes without subjecting yourself to the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome. Command & Conquer is superior to Starcraft. ArmA and ArmA 2 may be pretty realistic, but they're boring as hell. Ultima IX: Ascension was the best game in the series. Hmm... that's enough for now, I think.
  17. It's not like that. This will allow you to sit on any chair in the game. You'd stand on/near the chair, then use the emote, which will make you sit on the chair. That way, they don't have to recode all the seats in the game to be usable like the ones on the ships.
  18. Yeah. I wasn't looking for a flashpoint courier. I was looking for a Priority Mission Courier like with Black Hole and Section X. So, yeah. I missed the droid on the fleet.
  19. Yes. That way, you go to a chair and use the emote on it. Then you'll be sitting on the chair.
  20. "Better" is a subjective term. For a while, the trend in games was to go for hyper-realism, which ended up in washed-out colors and the like. Almost like a Sepia Age of gaming. Now, developers are realizing that color is okay. TOR has never been light on the color, but they're allowing it to pop more, which is cool. But some people like more subtlety in their color schemes. This patch is going in the opposite direction of their preferences. So they're letting the devs know. Same as any other update, really. There's also the fact that many people aren't happy unless they're miserable. A lot of very vocal MMO players fit into that description.
  21. Are the droids that give the "Titans of Industry" mission misplaced? It doesn't seem logical to have a droid on CZ-198 tell me to go talk to a person on the fleet, who then tells me to go to CZ-198 and help out there. The droids' dialogues even sound like they're supposed to be in another location besides CZ-198. Can these droids get moved to the fleet in an update, please?
  22. The credit option *is* the grind option. You'll have 1 million credits well before you have legacy level 40.
  23. So, I got Treek on my Juggernaut, and I took her to the companion gift vendor to start that 10K run to max affection. I got her up to 8000 affection and then I took her to the ship to start on the conversations. She talked to me once, and then she no longer had a quest marker above her head. However, when clicking on her, she'd say something like, "Let's talk aboard the ship, Chief." Does she have only the one conversation? Her speech would imply that she has more to say, but at 8300+ affection, I can't talk to her a second time.
  24. For a time, flight simulators pretty much faded into the background. EA closed their Jane's line, Origin got bought out and pretty much shut down, Lucasarts switched from the X-Wing model to the Rogue Squadron model, and so on. Even MechWarrior got back-burnered with MechAssault. Crimson Skies was a very different game on PC than it was on Xbox; the PC version was a "flight sim," while the Xbox version was like MechAssault with planes. Now, these were all great, fun games. But they never scratched the same itch that X-Wing and MechWarrior did. Wing Commander's loss was greatly felt when the new trilogy that was supposed to begin with Prophecy never came to fruition. In the past few years, though, flight sims have been making a comeback. Microsoft, of course, has kept their Flight Simulator franchise going continuously. But there were two notable Kickstarters last year in Star Citizen by Chris Roberts (of Wing Commander fame) and Starlight Inception from Escape Hatch (i.e. Gary Gaber, formerly of Lucasarts), which is the spiritual successor to X-Wing. The military flight sim crowd is also making a resurgence with some incredible flight sims on Steam in the DCS package. I am hoping that this comeback will take root in the SSSP, and we'll see fighter combat some day. I'm also hoping that Disney will release a new X-Wing-style game for the new trilogy under their Lucasarts label.
  25. It predates WoW by far. I started playing EQ when Luclin released. Even on Firiona Vie, the role-playing server, I encountered people who ground up their characters as fast as possible so they could get involved with raiding. That was the first time I ever encountered it. But granted, that was pretty much the start of the raiding game. The only AC "raid" I can remember was the level 200 or so killer rabbit. I didn't play UO much, but I always got the idea that the point of that game was to screw over everyone else by taking their stuff rather than to work together to down large threats. So, as long as there have been raids, there has been the "level cap is where the game really starts" mentality.
