  1. Since my character is convinced that Valkorion and Vitiate are the same person, then I cannot kneel. No Republic character would do it, and the only Imperial who would consider is the Wrath, and he/she was betrayed wholly by the Emperor. I might make a character just to see what happens, but I can't say that anyone would kneel just based on the fact that, whether he really is or not, every character is convinced he's Vitiate.
  2. All of them. And none of them. As I play the story, then each of my characters is The Outlander. But, when I interact with other people, then my characters are just normal Republic or Imperial citizens making their ways through the galaxy.
  3. Was Akaavi born a Mandalorian? If so, were her parents? It's very possible that no one in her family line was even on Cathar at any point in the past or a part of the Mandalorians when it happened. That said, people in Star Wars can hold a grudge for a very long time. Look at the Sith. "Of, sure, as a result of our banishment by the Jedi, we were able to form this great empire, breed with hardy genetic stock, and study the Dark Side without limitations. In addition, our lives are now pretty comfortable. But, we were sent away, and now the Republic and the Jedi must pay the price."
  4. I'll have to search back through the Dev Tracker. Last I saw was this in the dev blog: "Nightmare Mode will also be available for all the Operations that had it previously, and will reward the same as the highlighted Hard Mode, as all the unique mounts and titles available currently."
  5. I always drink coffee when I watch radar. You know that. Everybody knows that!
  6. I believe that particular phrasing is meant to refer to the "streamlining" of the 1-50 class story. How that will actually come to pass remains a question, but it's believed the focus will be on the class stories for those levels, rather than how it's been in the past.
  7. I don't believe they planned on continuing class stories. At least not how they were from 1-50. I believe they always planned for the story to come together eventually, but with class-flavored sidequests, much like Shadow of Revan. Think of it like an MMO-sized Star Wars version of Dragon Age Origins: a good, class-focused origin story, and then the first expansion onward would have everyone doing mostly the same thing.
  8. So, if I get this correctly, you actually liked when George Lucas added the Emperor's scream to Luke's fall in Cloud City? Because he didn't originally do it. It was later taken back out because it was such a bad addition. Luke had resigned himself to death, there was no reason to scream.
  9. Assuming that change does come to pass, then I would also expect datacron bonuses to be reduced to a fairly equivalent total. Instead of +2/+3/+4/+10, think closer to +1/+2/+3/+5 or something. It'll still be a noticable effect on your stats, but it won't be like you suddenly got four times the bonus from datacrons that you had before.
  10. No. Not even close. Canon, once determined, is objective. Other related sources may be true, but they are not canonical without declaration as such. The most famous canon in the world is the Holy Bible. Whether you believe in its relevance is not the point of discussion here, and I will not follow that line of argument. But the fact remains that the Christian canon is the 66 books found in the Holy Bible. There are other apocryphal sources that can certainly be enlightening (the gospels of Mary or Philip, for example), but they still are not canon. In the same way, KOTOR, The Old Republic, The Dawn of the Jedi, the Bane trilogy, and so on may help inform how you view the canon, but they are not canon because they are not deemed to be so by Lucasfilm's Story Group, the authority that governs the canon. I hope they integrate more of the Legends stuff into the canon. but I want it done well. For example, I loved Shadows of the Empire. I thought it was a pretty great book. But, it's not canon. Xizor and Guri are not canon. The Falleen species, however, is canon, as it's been mentioned in newer fiction. Honestly, if you're playing your own RPG campaigns or roleplaying here or writing fan fiction or whatever, you don't have to worry about canon. No one's coming to your home to break some kneecaps should you decide that Revan really existed, and Vitiate snuffed out all life on mutliple worlds, and the Jed'aii Order was born on Tython by a diverse group of Force Sensitives taken there by spacefaring pyramids. Hell, they almost put Revan and Bane in The Clone Wars in the Mortis trilogy. That would have made them canon--at least to the extent that they existed.
  11. The last DVD release of the OT before the blu-rays had a bonus disc with each of the movies that included that movie's original theatrical release, untouched. For example, Star Wars was "Star Wars" on the crawl--no Episode IV, no A New Hope. You might be able to find those if you look. But, as said above, there have been rumors of Disney's desire to release restored versions of the originals. I've yet to see anything more than rumors at this point, so I wouldn't hold my breath. I'll just keep an eye out for it.
  12. And yet the fact that there isn't a difficulty between solo/tactical and hard mode is not doing any favors to build up those players' group mindset. There's a huge jump in difficulty between "tactical" (in which you can just steamroll everything and tactics really don't matter) and hard mode (which is causing groups to disband because they keep bashing their heads against a brick wall on some bosses, and heaven forbid someone have to pay a repair bill). I like the addition of tactical flashpoints. I don't like them as a replacement for normal flashpoints that need a group. There has to be some way to find the middle ground here. Granted, lag may be a factor in the current difficulty of the hard modes.
  13. There's no offhand for Bowdaar (I guess. I haven't gotten my smuggler up there yet) or Broonmark. Even the Str offhands that do exist do not list these characters as options, so I can't get them on another character and mail them over. Also, why do the ship droids have mainhand weapon options when they can't equip them?
  14. The Satele and Malgus statues were from the first set of cartel packs, which aren't for sale right now. There may bea few of these statues on the GTN, though. I know Ebon Hawk has some up or did a few days ago.
  15. Agreed. Possible spoilers follow. Be warned. For example, why would the Empire ever put a Bounty Hunter in charge of their troops on such a vital world as Makeb--especially a bounty hunter who has repeatedly refused to be called "Imperial"? I can see the two Sith classes in this role, obviously. The Emperor's Wrath and a member of the Dark Council would of course make excellent choices to lead such a vital mission. Even my agent, who no longer exists officially in the Empire, would make a great choice for this covert op. But the Bounty Hunter is terribly out of his/her element in this role. Makeb was a great story. I thought it was the best planet in the game post-Dromund Kaas for the Empire, but I would have liked to see a bit more class personalization.
  16. I leveled my Juggernaut as a tank, as well as my Guardian. It works well. If that's what you're enjoying, keep at it.
  17. Spoilers follow. Seriously. Like all eight class stories will be mentioned. That's the thing about TOR, though. It's not SWG. You're not playing some random Joe Blow just out minding his own business in the galaxy. You're playing major figures in the war. The Jedi Knight is the Hero of Tython. The Consular is the Barsen'thor, a title not given to anyone in centuries, and is something of a prodigy in the Order. Every class is the epitome of its area. The Bounty Hunter came up from nothing--no name recognition, no real financial backing--to win the Great Hunt and then collect one of the biggest bounties in the galaxy. The Sith Warrior is the Emperor's Wrath. The inquisitor went from slave to Dark Council member in very little time. The Agent single-handedly took down a Dark Council member and even a galactic conspiratorial organization. The trooper led the unit that took out one of the Empire's greatest superweapons and then captured its major military mind. The smuggler rooted out and squashed a conspiracy inside the Republic government. You are a hero in The Old Republic. You're not some random no-name Jedi. You're *the* Jedi. If you're a smuggler, you're spoken of with the same reverence as people like Hylo Visz. As far as the Emperor goes, though, I think we should see him again, but not as a boss for the Knight himself. The first time, the Emperor was likely weak from setbacks in Chapter 3 of numerous class stories. He'd lost his Voice on Voss. He'd lost his Children to the Consular. He'd been connected mentally to Revan for 300 years, and they'd affected each other in adverse ways. We're not even sure that he was even in his actual body for that faceoff against the Knight. If the Emperor does show up again as a killable mob, he needs to be an operation boss for both sides to go after.
  18. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. All future Heroics should be Heroic 2+ and behind a phase wall. More players increases both mob health and the chance for better loot and commendations to drop. This way, people can solo the heroics if they want to do so. But, it's always better to get in a group for better loot and comms. At the very least, it's easier to find one person to help than it is to find a full group.
  19. I worked at Six Flags when I was younger, and just having on my themed retail costume on was bad enough. I'd see the mascots backstage sometimes, and they looked like they were dying, even with their little fans inside the heads. I don't know what the temps are like in California, but I do not envy the guy(s) they get to play Vader at Disney World. Days of 100+, always humid, and in a black padded leather costume and helmet? Yeah. That guy makes pretty good money. But he's walking around in a mobile sweatbox all day.
  20. And, in future, Bioware will be able to keep the new limitation in mind when tuning content. That can be done by reducing boss health, increasing enrage timers, and so on. It won't be too much of a problem for older content as we outlevel it, but they can adjust enrage timers on those old encounters as well, should they decide it's worth the effort.
  21. ... Yep. That's how some people see it. For some reason, these people believe that the buff is the sole reason to bring along the Marauders/Sentinels. Nevermind their DPS output. The buff is all. One of the comments mentioned Bloodlust in WoW. It did go through the same change. Raids would bring lots of shamans to basically chain Bloodlust one after another as much as they could. Of course, this necessitated inflating armor and hit point numbers of raid bosses to compensate. Once they put the change in place, it took some time for raids to adapt, but some of those shamans got to bring the classes they really wanted to play to the raids. Future raid bosses, then, were tuned with the Bloodlust/Heroism change in mind, which made it so a shaman wasn't even really necessary, but still highly desired. It was a part of the "bring the player--not the class" philosophy to which I very much subscribe. They even added a similar buff to Mages and some Hunters to spread the buff around. I like that.
  22. Pardon for bringing up WoW, but I do like their idea of Secondary professions that don't count against your actual professions. So, everyone can cook, fish and do archaeology, and none of these count for your two professions. If it were me, I'd have made Biochem something like that. Let everyone make their own medpacks, stims and adrenals. Then, in place of Biochem, make a crafting crew skill that does stuff like implants and something else that others would find valuable. Of course, that would have needed to be done before the game released. It's too late to do that now, really, without significant backlash from the community. But, as far as the OP goes, I'd have to disagree. The limit is in place specifically so that one character can't do everything. Adding in more crew skill slots would completely go against that idea. The limit is there to create a need for players to seek out other players. Some of us get by this by making multiple alts to cover all the bases, because we like making our own stuff. And some people don't like crafting at all, so it balances out.
  23. If it didn't, no one would have these things. And, yet, people do have them. The game engine isn't designed for platformers, no, but it's functional enough to do the few tricky jumps needed to get the datacrons in the game.
  24. That is the key indeed. Sadly. It seems fairly common that friends can flirt with each other without it being more than just a game of wits. Of course, a lot of the flirts in the game seem to go way past flirt and into "not-so-subtle proposition" territory. Characters like Kira, Vette and Risha seem to be the type that could engage in flirting with their friends. Tharan's another example. Akavi seems like the type that it would be fun to flirt with because she would have no idea how to deal with it (and what person doesn't like to frustrate his/her friends?). I'm sure there are others, too.
