  1. You are free to keep your companions dismissed and play without them, just know that the game is designed for them being present, so it may be more difficult. I understand why you think they are unnecessary lore-wise, but I guess I don't understand why it bothers you so much. Yes, Jedi Masters and Sith Lords are supposed to be incredible powerhouses on their own, but it's just game mechanics. It's the same reason lightsabers don't one-hit-kill everything they touch; it might be correct in the lore, but it would really screw with the game.
  2. This is too true. I've been playing League of Legends for over a year now, and as much as I enjoy playing it, that game (and other MOBAs) have a serious problem with negative players. There are so many people who are eager to surrender, or just outright quit, a match that isn't going well for them. Sometimes they are right in assuming that a game can't be won, but many times they are wrong, and you can't know what will happen unless you keep playing. Those sorts of people bring down the rest of their teammates, and either by their attitude or by abandoning their team can make a possible win impossible. I understand the mathmatical reasoning behind people who quit; quitting losing games may net you more physical rewards more efficiently, but doesn't anyone play for fun? I've had several big comeback wins in both LoL and SWTOR, and they were the most exciting and fun matches I've ever played. I am not happy to have those kinds of games robbed from me by people who give up.
  3. People with a give up attitude can cost you comeback wins. I don't care if you think it's unlikely or difficult or whatever, if I'm going to be there for several minutes, I want to be having awesome fights, not just giving up. When my team falls behind by a bit in Alderaan and 5 people on my team go stand on our one side point because they are afraid to try, I am embarassed. And this is a Star Wars game guys. I seem to remember the Empire having quite a lead in Episode IV, and my favorite part of the movie was when Luke, Leia, and the rest of the rebellion just decided to defend Yavin base and await their inevitable loss. Real thrilling.
  4. Nope, starter worlds are only available for the faction they belong to, so that players level 1-~10 are safe from any sort of grief, and have an easier time learning game mechanics and what not. It would be cool if they made separate instances of starter worlds for PVP or something (Academy assaults etc.) but there has been no talk of that so far.
  5. Well said There are many players on every server who really like answering questions and helping people out, you just have to ask them!
  6. Weeks ago I heard that by getting several different classes to level 50 you could make a new character that could have a class buff that include others (Example: A bounty hunter who can buff his team with BHs buff and an Agents buff at once) I haven't heard any confirmation on if this is real, and there was no mention of it in the latest video on Legacy. If it did turn out to be true, it really isn't an advantage in PVP, just a time saver/cool thing.
  7. Doing missions or killing enemies way below your level give minimal to no experience. It's so easy for your character that they don't learn anything from it.
  8. I agree with the changes planned for gear; while levelling up I heard a lot of complaining about PVP and couldn't understand it. From 10-49 I had a lot of fun doing PVP, matches were mostly fair, I felt like I could do a lot without being too powerful to take down. Upon reaching level 50 (recently) PVP became a very depressing affair. I feel like I can no longer do damage to any class, and I get ripped apart within seconds, and it is not fun for me anymore. I assume this is because of a lack of Expertise, but in order to get that stat I need to play PVP. This means I am currently in the situation of losing over and over until I earn some gear, which is extremely depressing. Even being able to buy some Recruit gear at 50 is much appreciated.
  9. I am on -the Corsair-. My main character's name is "Rezbanthamaul" (Level 48 Bounty Hunter/Mercenary). Please send me whispers or mail if you need help or have questions!
  10. It also filters out dialogue from companions that don't speak basic :\ So when Khen Val, Blizz, Bowdaar etc. say something out in the world it doesn't show up. I wish they would separate those.
  11. It can't be that hard, we're all dumb here and most people pick it up (eventually)
  12. Haha, so you hit 1, and your trooper just sort of looked down at his gun going
  13. I save all Orange quality gear that I find, because it can be modded to be effective at any level, and allows me to customize my appearance whenever I want. Other than that, there is no real reason to save old/worse equipment. You can sell it, possibly Reverse Engineer it, give it to a friend (if they can use it), or whatever you feel like doing. I generally sell Green equipment I don't need to a vendor, but Blues and Purples I put up on GTN. Purples especially can go for quite a bit of cash.
  14. Bounty Hunters are very common on my server (me too ), Agents/Smugglers are probably the least played there.
  15. Characters are server-specific. Example: My level 48 Bounty Hunter is on "the Corsair" which is a "PVE server". I can do all PVE and PVP content with him on that server (all story, flashpoints, ops, warzones, etc.) He is only located on that server; if I choose a new server, I will have no characters on it and will have to make a new one. If I go back to the Corsair, he will be there just as before. You do not have to change servers to take part in different activities, you can do lots of PVP on a PVE server and so on. The server types (PVE, PVP, RP) are just categories used to guide people towards what they like to do in game. PVP servers feature more Open World PVP, but otherwise it is exactly the same. Many people who join PVE servers (like myself) like to PVP as well, but it isn't their main reason for playing the game. Likewise, if you join an RP server, you don't have to roleplay, but probably many of the players there like to. To summarize: characters (currently) never change servers and are unable to, and you never have to switch your server type to experience different aspects of the game. You can play through the game in its entirety on one server of any type.
  16. Hey Baron, my first and main character is a Bounty Hunter - Mercenary, which might fit your preferred style. As a Mercenary you can gain skills towards either healing or DPS (usually involving missiles). I am Level 48 with him right now, both PVP and PVE have been very fun, and I have done almost all of the PVE content by myself. (your first companion is a healer, so you don't have to worry about healing yourself as much) I haven't finished the story yet but it has been very interesting! If you would rather play Republic, the Trooper - Commando is the equivalent class, though I don't know much about the story. Hope you find something you like!
  17. Haha, that was my thought. If space missions are your main concern, I highly and sincerely recommend StarFox 64 to you. I am not being sarcastic or condescending. It will be much cheaper than paying for this game monthly ($10 on Wii, or free if you emulate) and it is the best on-rails space shooting experience I have ever seen. I had it back when it came out, and I play it to this day. I hope you continue to play SWTOR though, assuming you like the rest of the game. Space missions are only a small part of it.
  18. OmySpy

    RP Flag

No plans for that feature have been announced, as far as I've heard. They may not be planning to implement it, or perhaps they are and it isn't close to being done.
  19. People who go into PVP by themselves dislike going against a team with "Premade" members, because the enemy team is working together and strategizing, and your own completely random team is running in all directions due to lack of communication It's easier to win when you can count on your teammates, and when you don't know your team sometimes the game is frustrating.
  20. Even though I love lightsabers and blasters, I wanted to be the guy with the missiles I love my mercenary. However, I have made characters of every class and I love them all.
  21. This also works for flying cinematics (leaving a planet or station, heading down to a planet etc.) so you don't have to watch them every time
  22. All your information should be well protected while you are unsubscribed. As for computers, I got a new one shortly before getting this game (Dell 620, the normal tower (there is a slim version but it apparently has some problems)) It's not the best computer in the world, but I got it and extras for around $700 and it runs SWTOR great. I hope you can come back and play with us soon!
  23. Going onto these forums takes away my smile too (I try to stick to the New Players, there's a lot less whining) What everyone said above is correct, there are 100+ happy players in game for every mad one on here, and people tend to blow things way out of proportion. Sure, this game needs some tweaking, and everyone likes more content, but all those things are being worked on as you read this. I've had nothing but fun with this game, and I think it will only get better in the future.
  24. The classes are mirrors, and their effectiveness depends on the player. You might see some people say that Empire has an advantage in PVP (or the other way around) but that is only because of server populations. If a particular server has more Empire players than Republic, Warzone matches might involve more high level players on the Empire side, or more players on a team in general (think 8 vs 6-7) simply because there is a higher population on that server.
  25. ^That is correct. You have to be a bounty hunter (either AC) and finish your class quests on Hoth
