  1. So i can throw abilities like missile blast and explosive dart out? I'm already tending not to use them, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. When I'm up against groups i find myself spamming sweeping blasters (after opening with death from above), but is it better to take them 1 at a time then? I appreciate your help, but would like a few more details if possible please.
  2. I'm getting my Merc up into the mid 20's now and looking for some input. I've stuck with an arsenal build so far, and it seems to fit my style well, but at this level there's so many abilities that it's tough to narrow down a good dps rotation. I get the uses of the 'niche' abilities like electro dart, rocket punch, and jet boost, but there's so many others my hotbar is overloaded. So, looking for some advice please. Also, so many of the arsenal talents seem so small as to be almost useless. maybe I'm just not really getting it, but it's hard to justify a point for a 1% increase in something for example. So, so advice on what to get/skip in the arsenal tree as well please.
  3. This is exactly my characters philosophy as well, with a few exceptions. Nem'ro seriously strained my BH/client relationship and I sincerely hope I get an opportunity to pay him back.
  4. If you played KOTOR 1 & 2, you'd have seen that a lot was actually different. I think the developers realized that this game would attract a lot of people who weren't necessarily familiar with those games and tweaked things to make it more recognizable to those who's only familiarity with SW is the movies. It's slightly obnoxious to an old time fan like myself, but Lucas has been doing his best to ruin his own continuity for years now anyway.
  5. Any MMO is what people make of it. Back in my SWG days I was part of a two-part guild (those from opposing faction were in that factions guild, but "unofficially' part of the larger guild.) We stayed on full time guild war with each other, creating our 'own' open world pvp. The great thing about an MMO is that we're not living in a vacuum, and don't have to rely on the devs to change everything. If you don't like things, get with your friends, be in contact with other guilds, and set things up the way you want! edit to add: But trying to force other people into your way of playing is just not a good outlet for your frustrations.
  6. My guess is hat with all the queues, many people are jumping on rp servers simply so they can play.
  7. Keep in mind that they're still balancing things out. Part of that is keeping population caps artificially low in order to encourage people to pick newer, less populated servers. as things slow down and even out, server caps will go up. This is the best way to do it. Be a little patient, allow things to settle down, and you'll soon find that everything's all right. Try to look beyond your personal inconvenience for just a moment and try to see the big picture.
  8. To be honest, the long queue times are going to end up encouraging more and more people to resort to this kind of thing. While I don't approve, because you're essentially preventing another person from getting in game while you're helping your brother in law move a couch or whatever, i do understand that no one wants to have to wait 2 hrs to get back in game. Keep in mind that the server pop caps are artificially low right now, and they will go up as things even out. They're trying to prevent a 'full server vs empty server and no-one wants to move' dichotomy.
  9. Just got mine a few minutes ago. Be patient, they're sending 'em out.
  10. The vast majority of the reasonable people on here have been very patient with everyone complaining about this game. I know I have been. But it's really getting tiresome. If you don't like it, don't play it. Go back to playing WOW or whatever. Leave us alone with a great game we love.
  11. Really it's how you look at it. Quests in any rpg essentially boil down to deliver this or kill that. It's the story that revolves around the quests that make it interesting and fun, or boring and a grind. IMO, SWTOR has done wonders in making all the quests feel different, and as if they have a reason for existing.
  12. It's because many people jumped on the early servers that filled up fast. I can't believe i'm saying this, but i"m kinda glad I didn't get in till yesterday. Got on a newer server and haven't had to queue yet.
  13. Just start your launcher. If you've got your invite, the 'play' button will be active now.
  14. Even if we take take your premise as true, it's still unreasonable. Because yes, the money of those who pre-ordered before you is worth more than yours. Because of several factors, including inflation and interest. Money early is always worth more than money later.
  15. I'm sorry your excitement is gone, but really, looks like everyone will be in today. That means you still have nearly 4 full days of early access, better than what we could expect with a December pre-order. My suggestion is to be patient a little while longer. You'll soon be in and forget all about this. It really is a great game, and they really are handling this the best they can.
  16. Because you need to talk to the vendor you purchased from, not SWTOR site. But honestly, why would you cancel now? you've been waiting this long, why leave just before you get in?
  17. Well said. Unlike you, I've been a lifelong Star Wars fan, and I have to say that I still agree with what you've said here 100%.
  18. Honestly, I've seen a bunch of these 'lack of communication' posts and am seriously not understanding. I've never been the slightest bit confused. I've known from day one that this is exactly how it was going to go. And I'm not one to constantly follow dev notes or the forums or anything. I simply read the emails i got, (you know, all the words), and read what the deal was before I spent my money. I think the lack of communication is really a lack of bothering to read.
  19. There will be some things I miss about SWG. Mostly the RP friendly stuff like Appearance tab and bio page. But in the long run SWG missed its opportunity by catering too much to the 'dabblers' (my term for those who would jump in to try it out, complain that it wasn't WOW and then leave) and alienating the people who should've been their long term base. I stuck it out for a long time, but finally ditched about a year ago, when I realized that playing my DE was more like work than my actual job.
  20. You know, the constant threats of 'give me what I want or i'm quiting' only serve to make people look like children. I've been running a retail store for years, it's how I make my living. And even so, some customers are more trouble then they're worth. It's better in the long long run to tell them off and send 'em packing, because some people will never be satisfied, and the more you give them, the more they demand.
  21. Hmm. This is certainly an issue. I'm no fan of the majority of mmo's, but even SWG kept you logged in for several minutes unless you logged out manually. I always figured it was for this very reason. I'm a very casual player, but I know that many people schedule their activities with friends, and something like this can severely hamper a raid or flashpoint, etc...
  22. Actually, this seems to be a smart way to go about it. As new servers are added, people fed up with waiting on theirs will roll new chars on the new servers, naturally freeing up some space on their old, and balancing out the server loads without the need for 'forced' migrations. Those with roots, eg. guilds, friends, etc... will stay on their original servers, and those without will voluntarily move. Better server balance with less mad customers.
  23. Thanks a bunch! I remember this from the beta tests, but wasn't sure if it was still the case.
  24. Got my early access email, but of course i'm at work and have to wait anyway. No big deal. My question is, with the preponderance of "holy crap i'm in an 8 million hour wait to access my server" threads going on, is there a way to tell in game which servers are newer so I can jump on one that is (hopefully) less populated?
  25. With all due respect friend, today is only the 15th, still 5 days early. I preordered at the very end of November and just now received my email. Course i'm at work, so whatever. But that tells me that it's entirely possible for very nearly all the preorders to get 5 days. And don't forget that they actually did say, very clearly, that it was going to be staggered, and that it was first come first serve. Why would anyone assume that a pre order made at the end of november or into december would still get 1st or even 2nd day access?
