  1. Yeah, I figured I'd get that kind of reply. I'm not trying to be condescending, but if I would find something optional so frustrating I would simply skip it. And again, the standing short hop works great for 90% of the required jumps. I myself had no great trouble with datacron jumps, and that's not to brag, that's just another pov. Why should jumping puzzles not be in an MMO, though? Lag has been almost nonexistent in TOR so far (mighty feat on BW's part).
  2. They always have the same yield. Which ones are available is random, and they 'recycle' occasionally. One way to force them to refresh is to finish a mission (so, do a rank 1, 3 minute mission). Relogging might also refresh the list but I never tested that.
  3. I realize it's very subjective, but I didn't find any of them overly frustrating to acquire. I think the problem for most people lies in the fact that it requires some rather precise jumping which is needed nowhere else in the game, so most people need to acquire the skill on the get-go. One tip that helped me immensely is to press jump + forward simultaneously, while standing still. You should do a short jump forward if you did it right. You can also deactivate spring for a shorter hop. The only datacrons I find silly are the ones like on Tatooine, where you have to wait for ages, doing nothing. That's not fun gameplay. Also, it's not really an answer maybe, but if you find them frustrating to do, don't do them? Even collecting all of them, the stats the gain barely make a difference at 50. I'd say they're very optional.
  4. If you have detailed item tooltips enabled (so that you see the individual stats of amoring, mod, enhancement etc. in a piece of orange gear), I don't see how it is such a bother? You can mouse over the item and say, a piece of armoring, and quickly compare them manually. It's only 2-3 stats you need to compare. Comparative tooltip would be weird because you can have up to 8 orange items equipped, + 8 from your companions. Either the game would need to guess which one you want to compare or show them all.
  5. This has pretty pictures: http://www.swtorstrategies.com/2012/02/social-gear-by-social-rank-and-location.html I don't want to be harsh, but I got this by typing 'swtor social gear list' into google and hitting one of the first links. You could have figured that out by yourself.
  6. There's Dark and Light side vendors on the fleet (trade market area), but I'm pretty sure they sell equal gear. Other than that there's not much gear that specifically requires you to be light or dark - besides some color crystals.
  7. I'm fairly sure that's correct, yes. As to why their companion tab doesn't show alignment - ask Bioware. it's either bugged or not implemented (correctly).
  8. I've fully discovered Hoth, so it's possible. Without some more info on the exact areas you're having trouble with we can't help you much. Only thing I can say is that some areas can be a bit hard to reach.
  9. It's called Jedi Battlelord armor. It's a whole set of orange gear. http://www.torhead.com/search/jedi%20battlelord Be warned though, some of the pieces are pretty rare and since they are all bind on equip, they tend to go for high prices. (I'm talking hundreds of thousands of credits.)
  10. Seems like only trash items gathered in the first 20 levels or so has a note saying it's trash. I assume they think you get the picture after that.
  11. They are seperate areas with a unique quest line and made for 4 people (with the exception of the first one, which can be done with as little as 2)
  12. You'll have better luck posting in your specific server forums. There are thousands of people here from dozens of servers. Though, might I recommend the sticky threads for new players seeing as you're new? You might learn something.

    Is RE broke?

Don't count on a specific date or a patch. MMO developers are notoriously stingy with those kinds of details. Blizzard have said that if they do mention a date or patch but the feature or fix gets cancelled or delayed, the playerbase flips its lid because a 'promise' wasn't kept. I do hope they also look into removing several prefixes, like +shield on an overkill item or DPS stats on a redoubt item.
  14. Chance to crit is something like 5-15% I haven't read about anyone doing good, extensive research on it, so the exact chance is difficult to say. People might say it is higher or lower, based on 'personal experience', but without a sufficiently large amount of testing with a big sample size it could just be RNG.
  15. No, if you put the same mods in both they will be equally strong. Only difference is appearance.
  16. Your companions will likely all be dark side as a sith, so you will lose affection if you make light side decisions. Nothing a few gifts won't fix though. Also you will be able to pick up light side items on the GTN for very little because of lots of competition from sellers + few buyers.
  17. Didn't vote because I don't think the new thing is good or horrible (what kind of choice is that?) I think it is a decent change (better than the last iteration anyway), but the extra, brief flash as the GCD finishes is not needed. PS I don't think you'll get very far with a poll like this. In my experience the majority of people posting here don't come here to praise the game, they come to complain or seek help. Some kind of heavily moderated thread to make sure people only post constructive criticism might help more.
  18. Standing around on the fleet all evening just looking for a tank on a busy server is not fun. And that is not an exaggeration, that is the reality right now. Small guild with few tanks, not a lot of help there either. There just needs to be something, anything to help people make groups. Fleet chat only reaches a small % of the people on the server yet it's still your best bet, and you can't really do anything else while there. The LFG in-game right now is basic, but might have worked if BW had talked about it at all in-game. Right now, nobody uses it out of ignorance, and the few who do are turned off because not enough use it. On a busy night on my server, do you know how many people flag themself for lfg? 5!
  19. No, you can't improve purple implants any further. Don't bother reverse engineering them. You can improve items twice, for a total of 3 versions. Usually it's green -> blue -> purple. Sometimes it's blue -> purple tier 1 -> purple tier 2. But the latter is not the case for implants since they start as green. More info: Guide to reverse engineering http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=258426 (Stickied on this very forum, hint hint )
  20. Oh yeah, this is extremely annoying, not just with the GTN, but I don't want to have a window pop up in a flashpoint or op when I'm healing! The damn window covers the raid frames. It's funny that those windows vanish automatically when you enter combat, but they still pop up during combat.
  21. Wow, didn't know this. Was wondering why I wasn't seeing any. Seems like a pretty big oversight that should be adressed.
  22. Great idea, and may I add something: add a med bot to the start if flashpoints/ops to repair. I used to have an old pc, and having 2 loading screens upon death would take me 2-3 minutes to get through. Not fun.
  23. Yeah, none of the planets can be completed, they all have 1 or more bugged/removed/inaccessible codex entries. I too haven't fully completed a single planet.
  24. As a Jedi Knight you can rip the mods out of an orange trooper armor and put your own mods in it. The other way around also works. You could be wearing the iconic Jedi Knight robes and carry around an assault cannon, or be a trooper with a lightsaber. Probably works for smugglers/Jedi Sentinels too. Great for confusing people! (Doesn't work for all armor though, some of it is class-restricted)
  25. It takes till somewhere around level 35+ till you can acces a talent high up in the healing tree that makes healing a bit more fun. It gives Healing Trance crits a 100% chance to make the above ability not cost health or degenerate force. Before you get that you're a little bit gimped if a fight last long.
