  1. Um, what? you should not be able to play as a base class only at all anymore, this was changed like... 5 years ago? This is not a new change at all
  2. Honestly this sounds like a case of OCD acting up, or something being lost in translation. Please don't presume to speak for other players on this. It's rather annoying.
  3. As a software designer and developer, I find attitudes like this frustrating and infuriating. You clearly have no idea how complex these kinds of systems can be. Do you honestly think they can truly take into account all aspects of implementing such a massive system change? And even if they did, do you honestly think they could accurately assess every mistake made along the way introducing bugs (and delays as a result)? Do you think they can accurately assess the productivity of every developer, graphics artist, project manager etc. so as to produce a perfect estimate? Regardless of sickness, people leaving, miscommunications etc.? No, BW did the right thing here in delaying it. Had they released such a buggy product, now that would be reason for frustration and infuriation (they've made that mistake before) The only major blunder BW made here is waiting until the last minute to announce the delay. I can appreciate the desperation to meet a deadline, but they should have realized at least a month ago that there was little chance of them actually meeting it. Or perhaps more accurately, the upper management who makes these decisions should have listened to the project managers and designers who probably were telling them for over a month that they had a problem
  4. But, But... Kai always seemed like such a honest man...
  5. If calling is inconvenient, you can also email them (support@swtor.com if memory serves) From what I've heard, getting account issues like this sorted out is pretty quick and painless (should be a simple matter of checking the transaction records for both subscription and payment, see the error, and reverse the incorrect ones.)
  6. Not really a problem. Obviously whatever Malora's machinations, she fails to actually undermine him significantly. Keeping in mind, in order to expose him as a "fraud", she needed to fraudulently tamper with the brain (ironic and typical Sith hypocrisy). It seems entirely possible that even if you help Malora, the tampering is detected and she just gets delayed electro-shock therapy courtesy of Renning.
  7. Oh pretty It's High Republic though, which means basically no chance of compelling story (outside the usual SJ checkboxes)
  8. What exactly are you trying to affirm to female players? That women can be dumb grunt scenery ignored by everyone except social justice rabble rousers? You appear to have singled out an incredibly inconsequential part of the game for no other reason than to create a platform to preach from. Do you really think including some extra female tokens, who do not do anything in the game whatsoever is going to help anyone? Or do you think it's more likely to just annoy people who are regularly being tokenized and sacrificed at the alter of progressive ideology? I'm all for having diverse representation in the game's characters. But this diversity needs to be presented in a natural way. As soon as it feels like something was included just to check a checkbox on the "Great List of Diversity We Need to Include", it becomes cheap and dehumanizing. And including a bunch of female scenery on Ord Mantel definitely falls into this category.
  9. Correct, which, as noted, is basically the same thing that happens now with non-end game set bonuses, which stop working at 75 Which is another way of saying, basically nothing is changing, these aren't the droids you're looking for, move along.
  10. Unfortunately no amount of tinkering with settings is going to fix that. If you've saturated your bandwidth, then there is nothing you can do short of yelling at your ISP and hope they give you better internet for a reasonable price
  11. That hasn't been my experience. I'm was lucky to get 8-10 MB/s from the launcher, despite my internet being able to go much faster
  12. There is a much better way now, install with Steam and be done with it I can download SWTOR at 40 MB/s no problem (max my internet plan provides)
  13. Why would it go away? Set bonuses aren't disappearing, they are just being treated in the same way as they currently are (that is, being disabled when you reach a certain level). Ex. the sets you get from masters datacron work until you reach max level. No reason to think this will be going away.
  14. We all know the answer to this, and it's complete and utter nonsense How on earth does having a few female guards improve anything? What does representation actually do for people? Should I go start asking BW to give white canes to technicians around the game? Because blind software developers are far less represented than women, maybe I want to be represented too!
  15. Which still works fine, since it's logical to assume many humanoid species are compatible
  16. Read what I posted before going on a tirade I fully understand why people would be mad, but you did not pay for the expansion. You paid for a subscription. They are under no obligation to refund you since you did receive the goods you paid for. So asking for a refund is frankly insane. It will not happen What might be possible is some form of consolation event (ex. 2x XP, collections unlock sale, general CM sale etc.). Start asking for that instead and maybe we'll actually get somewhere. I can assure you BW is going to ignore any refund related thread/post.
  17. You payed for a subscription. You received your subscription end of transaction Feel free to be disappointed, or even angry at them, but asking for a refund is just silly.
  18. If you want an in-universe way to make this work, keep in mind that Kallig doesn't need to be a Twi'lek. Twi'leks are genetically compatible with humans (and likely other humanoid species as well. In fact the SI story on Belsavis gives very strong hints as to why this is possible). After some 1300 odd years, it's not inconceivable that an ancestor hooked up with a Twi'lek and had kids who did the same. Few generations later and any visible remnants of the original species would be gone. Considering the number of Twi'leks in slavery, this isn't hard to imagine happening
  19. It's almost a certainty that a 3rd combat style or a combat style change will happen, simply because they could sell this on the CM for good CC Obviously they bit off a bit more than they could chew technically with the change, hence the change to be restricted at launch. I can't imagine they'll abandon the idea altogether though.
  20. Client side modding is already technically possible (it's impossible to stop), but it's a touchy subject, as there is a fine line technically speaking between a cosmetic only mod like a translation pack vs a cheat mod. I for one would love it if they at least relaxed the rules around cosmetic client mods on the forums so that the more tech savvy players can discuss and share how this can be done in a "controlled environment", without actually taking any real resources from BW
  21. You make a hyperbolic thread with hyperbolic comments and you ask why the response is negative? really? The reason people are commenting is because you tried to speak for them. That annoys people. If you had posted a thread like: "Choice journal for characters" in the suggestion box, you would not have gotten this response. People who don't care about the feature would just ignore the suggestion. You probably still would have gotten people questioning the technical issues, but that's about it.
  22. I for one don't give three ***** if it is "new content" (in your sole opinion I should note) It is content that I want to play. I suspect i will enjoy playing it very much with the new CS system That you have the arrogance to claim that your subjective opinions are somehow superior to someone else's is shameful. Stop.
  23. New York is also further away from California than North Dakota. Doesn't mean you're going to travel through North Dakota if you are driving to New York from California. And in hyperspace, you could skip right past an inhabited planet and not even notice. Being "filled with space faring populations" is entirely relative. Look at the senate chamber of the Republic. It could host what, a couple thousand different species? Compared to 100 billion stars, that's nothing (obviously the vast majority of planets even in the most generous estimates are going to be uninhabitable)
  24. Honestly there is a much simpler explanation for this. Assuming that the SW galaxy is the same size as the Milky Way, there are around 100 billion stars in it. Now let's say you could accurately survey 1 planetary system per day to determine if it was inhabited by Sith. That would still take you 2.7 million years to survey the galaxy (ignoring hyperlane problems at that) Now let's say someone was smart enough to limit their search to the area around Korriban. Let's say an area 1/100th of the volume of the galaxy. We're still looking at 27k year search time to search them all (so let's say an average search time of 13.5k years). Still a problem. Then comes the last and biggest problem of them all: No one was actually looking for them. They were believed to be extinct by the Jedi
