  1. First of all, balance may not be the best word choice here, as the classes are mirrors As for population shifts, there certainly will be some shifting (always is at expansion time) and I can certainly see it making some of the more boring classes playable (which will disproportionately benefit the Republic). Honestly I doubt it'll be all that significant though.
  2. lol, I'd be more inclined to take this seriously if we hadn't seen this before. Every. Single. Time. The forum goers are always more negative than positive. We are hardly representative of the player base as a whole. So naturally we have to get yet another thread of people complaining about ops players getting the bestest best gear, ability pruning, GTN inflation complaints, conquest payout reductions, rotating activities, CSs not being mix and match abilities and all the rest we've been hearing about over the last few months.
  3. I suggest avoiding the black/black dyes. Only thing that goes for that the Black/X and X/Black dyes often work just as good and cost a tiny fraction of the amount And if the dyes weren't single use, the price would be WAY higher to compensate
  4. I had no problem with the concept, just the implementation left a lot to be desired On the silver lining side, it is probably a lot of the reason that SW has largely moved to the series format, which I think is a much better way to tell star wars stories with all the depth they deserve
  5. Unless something has changed, it isn't https://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=914837 https://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=881075
  6. Your alignment on the character is irrelevant on boosted characters. The default of the SI is the Imperius title. There is no way to change this without rolling a lvl 1 character (which if Imperius is what you want, great, saves you some grinding)
  7. The SWs backstory has them coming from a priveledged family so Sith and Human/Cyborg are the only ones allowed lore wise (and before unlocks, is in fact all you are allowed to choose) That being said it's only mentioned a few times on Korriban, so if you are willing to suspend disbelief, anything can work
  8. Agreed, though Solo does also get some well deserved criticism and the High Republic BS gets openly mocked by most I've heard (which isn't many since most don't even know or care about it)
  9. It's certainly possible, though for some reason they haven't done it yet (would be nice to have more variety. Heck, just a proper medium red would be nice. Sith, Togruta and Imp Zabrak all have it...)
  10. Pretty much this It's not that the story is flawed, it's that the Jedi (and others) in the story are flawed. Which was written this way deliberately. Remember, the Jedi themselves are an extremist sect too, still prone to extremist and unyielding responses.
  11. Sure, many of the people you are dealing with are 1. Sith who are more than happy to backstab you regardless. 2. Non-Sith who assume you are a monster because, you know, Sith (imagine a Nazi telling you "but I'm really not a bad person!" And there are plenty of cases where being light side makes a difference. Hell, more really than any other story with LS/DS Jaesa, other Sith you spare/recruit and show up later, very different interactions with Vette etc.
  12. "Hourglass" is definitely not how I'd describe BT1...
  13. Something keep in mind here, in order to create a new character body type, they would need to create new models for every single player armour in the game Every armour set has models for each of the 8 body types. Creating new body types would be a massive amount of work. And honestly, it really doesn't make sense for our PCs to be anything other than healthy/athletic considering what they do.
  14. The sum total of the lore on this is in this game, comments by devs about this game and the Revan novel, so sources are somewhat limited but we can infer a few things. The simplest explanation for the void is a vacuum in the force. This would account for the feeling of being cold and the sense of being pulled apart and devoured (think balloon being put into a vacuum chamber or pushed out an airlock into space) When Tenebrae conducts his ritual, he basically created a vacuum so huge that it is taking a long time for the force to "flow back" in to fill it (one of the devs did say that the void was not as complete as it was in the Revan novel, and that is why our characters can use the Force on the planet, so this "flow back" process has already started). There is also going to be a component of sensory deprivation here. The Force is basically another sense for a FU and the longer they are exposed to it, the more they get used to/depend on it. We also see this negative effect with ysalamiri as mentioned specifically in "I, Jedi" between Luke and Corran Horn. The latter just felt slightly off in the ysalamiri field, but Luke was more strongly effected, since he'd been using the Force much longer.
  15. What you are comparing is old EU "author oneupmanship" with what was in the top level canon (remember there were multiple levels of canon back then) As far was GL and company were concerned, the books, comics and games were just fan fics. And let's face it, the crazy overpowered nature of many of those characters is a classic from fan fiction (as fun as it can be sometimes, it's still a bit ludicrous). And when Disney took over, all of this got removed from canon completely. All those crazy OP Sith Lords and Jedi Masters? Never existed. Even before Disney, they were not even in the picture. (notice how when mining the old EU for stories, Filoni and friends pick people like Thrawn, who is not a stupid OP FU, but a character who is both interesting and scary without the flashiness.) I'm glad they've done this personally. Otherwise we'd just end up with more Vitiates/Valkorians who are fun in small doses, but get really stale over time due to real character development being sacrificed to cinematics Or put another way, Star Wars is not and was never intended to be a power fantasy.
  16. Can't say I really agree with this as the source of the divide. Most fans (even the fairly hardcode) don't really care about the Buddhist influence. And GL successors don't entirely follow this pattern either. In fact, they make a point (ex. in TCW and Rebels) of showing how the "Buddhist" Jedi lost their way and were destroyed by their own arrogance and hypocrisy. They sacrificed compassion to the alter of expedience. If they actually cared about individual people, the clone wars would likely have ended very differently. In regards to love in particular, this is another point that has hardly divided the fan base and we see many examples of both ideologies even from the same creators Ex. Kanan and Hera were not portrayed as an unhealthy relationship at all and that was under Dave Filoni, largely considered the "heir" of GL. On the other hand, we see Ahsoka share the same caution about attachments during The Mandalorian. Same guy behind it. Neither of these has sparked controversy. It is a part of individual characters and their stories and makes perfect sense in both cases. The issues people had with the sequels had nothing to do with nuance, but characters who were not consistent or respectful to what was already established, including the already established lore (see Rey Mary Sue learning the force in a few hours) and considering the current climate (and KK's very strong and public political views), to say that those movies were not motivated by politics is just pure insanity. I also can't grasp the argument for the PT either. Keep in mind, many of the people complaining about the PT also love TCW, the latter of which has far more nuance than the PT or OT. If "too much nuance" as a problem were to logically follow, then TCW would get the same hate. It doesn't.
  17. I'm curious, does anyone know if it currently requires a Dark V character, or just the (existing) Dark V achievement?
  18. Not entirely sure what you are referring to, but the rules as described are a tech class can pick any other tech combat style and a force user can pick any other force combat style that either aligns with their faction or if they have the appropriate unlocks to play the other alignment (this detail I'm still a little fuzzy on) Both types get 2 combat styles and they should both work the same outside of the force user's alignment restrictions.
  19. No there is no source as it's just the usual pre-expansion doom-saying. Generally speaking as the game gets older the quantity of content decreases as the budget gets smaller. Whether that is the case here or they've pulled out the stops a bit more in honour of the 10 year anniversary is anyone's guess. As always, wait and see.
  20. Simply put, everything you need will be provided as part of the story missions (assuming of course they have learned their lesson with SoV). This is how it's worked for every previous expansion and I can't see it changing for this one. And if all you care about is story, you can safely ignore all the whining about "elitist" ops players. You do not need that high level gear (or likely anything even close to it)
  21. Since you decided to nitpick, I'll return the favour. They are not different classes, they are different advanced classes. They are in fact the same class.
  22. Not to be too much of a downer, but SW and the Transformer's universe are completely different. It might make for a fun fan fiction but that's about as far as it'll stretch.
  23. The balance nightmare that would cause would be horrific. The reason for it is for the altaholics (as noted by poster above) and to open up more thematic options for RPs (ex. using a rifle on a BH) There is also the speculated benefit that this could also lead to totally new combat styles which would be totally fresh for everyone without having to create entire new class stories for them.
  24. No, keep making both please. There are a LOT of dual sabers that attach to the belt to choose from. Some of us like it on the back.
  25. I suspect it's more iOS 15 is allergic to the app. A better alternative would be to use a general purpose authenticator app instead, such as google authenticator or WinAuth on your PC.
