  1. So the choice is being pissed off because it's not fair, or pissed off because I have to wait my turn? That's not even a choice. If you don't realize that then you're a window licker. When you have a PvP objective with rewards you have to take measures to make it fair. WoW already discovered in WG that tenacity wasn't the best solution, and at the end they changed it to even the numbers. The numbers are also even in TB. If you have a PvP zone with no real rewards, and thus no way for one side to acquire gear upgrades faster than the other then it's fine to have it imbalanced because no one is going to go there anyway.
  2. I love the leave WZ feature. Once you get into a Huttball where the opposing team runs the score to 4-0 in the first 2 minutes and farms you for the rest of the game you will too. When I'm trying to get my 3 wins for PvP dailies done, what incentive do I have for staying in that WZ? Trying to gain medals as I get focus fired down time and time again? Trying to help undergeared people win a 2v5 against a geared-up premade? Helping you feel better about yourself because misery loves company? What incentive do I gain by feeding the opposing team valor and commendations? I have more incentive to leave, because I already know that one premade is not going to be queuing up again for several minutes. If you stay in a WZ where it's not even a battle but a slaughter you're an idiot. Bioware got this one right. The KEY is knowing which battles you can win, and which ones you can't. Fight the battles you know you can win; as to the rest, if there's an alternative to losing, take it.
  3. This guy hit it right on the head.
  4. Actually, what destroyed WoW was forcing people to arena for the best PvP gear. If people want arenas, give them arenas. Give them a ladder, give them rankings, give them titles. If you want to get nuts, go ahead and give the top players mounts. Make it a BIG mount that people can see from a half zone away. Just don't give them gear, and arenas are just fine with me.
  5. He wouldn't have to. You'd be the one QQing about the imbalance. The numbers should be even in Ilum. /thread
  6. I play a guardian, level 50, Valor rank 45 or so atm, Focus spec. I leveled using a Vigilance/Defense hybrid. I like that spec better than focus but it just doesn't pack the <boom> you need in PvP. I leveled with a consular friend through 90%, and it wasn't hard. The few times I did stuff alone it was a PITA. JKs are under tuned at lower levels. You will spend a lot of time using introspection. Doc helps. Until you get Doc, you can either 1) run full defensive spec or 2) let T7 tank for you and push as much damage as you can. If you get too many strong mobs on you, you'll die. You have to be very smart about your target choices and you must learn to use all your abilities or you will suffer. The good news is it will make you a better player than these "lololo imma run in and destroy everything lolo wow I'm good TRACER MISSILE" losers you see running around. ONCE YOU GET DOC, YOU DO NOT BECOME INVINCIBLE. He will not keep you up if you are in Shien form wacking away vs an elite and 2 silver mobs. In fact you'll probably lose aggro on some of them and Doc will die. You will be at your best using Soresu form against elites. Yes it sucks because focus generation is crap, but you'll hold aggro and you'll survive. Blade Ward is your friend. Use it early, not when you're at 5% health.
  7. Level 40 PvP gear is BA. Level 50 looks stupid. Fortunately Champion bags suck so I've still got pants/chest/helm from 40 set.
  8. It sucks. And it's put there to keep you grinding.
  9. Leave it as it is. Those that are playing to get their daily wins get to move on to a team that has a better chance of winning; the medal farmers can stay and farm medals. The key is in knowing which WZs are winnable and which ones are not. Most AFKers don't have a clue.
  10. You want to discus Ilum? I'll discuss Ilum: BALANCE THE ******* NUMBERS IN ILUM. Problem solved. How many years have you guys been designing games? And you still haven't figured out that for areas to be equal in a MMO the numbers have to be even? I have a great idea for a new Warzone!!!! Lets allow 5 players from one faction and 10 from the other!!! Doesn't this sound like a good idea????? No, it sounds like a ridiculously STUPID idea. And yet that is exactly what's happened in Ilum. And with all of the faction imbalance in the game already you didn't see it coming? People should be fired over decisions like this. And what's with the awful lag whenever you get 40 people together in Ilum? 8GB of DDR3 and a Nvidia G-force 1GB video card, low settings, lowered resolution and everything still grinds to a halt? Sloppy....sloppy sloppy. Fix your game. Fix it fast.
  11. So what you're saying is our "big numbers" don't start happening until we can stack around 650 expertise.... and what is the soft cap on surge? At the moment I have about a half-dozen pieces of champ/centurion gear and I'm in that "3,000-3,500 Force Sweep crit tickle them before they turn and smoke me" phase. I too can crank out 250,000 total damage in a given match (as long as I don't get stuck guarding, which I usually do because everyone will run off and leave a node to farm medals rather than focus on winning). There are usually a few guys that double that...and they are never guardians. 200,000 damage is NOT a big number in the matches I've been a part of. When I look at the stats after a game and see that I'm top damage my first thought is "wow these guys stink." If our DPS is comparable to other classes when gear is equal I'm ok. I think we do need some additional buffs to our survivability. And I think Vigilance could use a little damage boost for PvP purposes as well.
  12. I agree, the level 50 PvP set is terrible. 40 was good...how it got messed up so bad for the end game set I'll never know. Assign set bonuses to the PvP mods please.
  13. The devs have already said that JKs (guardian/juggs especially) are lacking in the survivability and anti-kiting departments. When they step up and say that, you KNOW it's pretty bad. They also mentioned that our DPS, especially our burst DPS (meaning our 1-trick pony, Focus Tree-->Force Sweep) is ok. I personally think Vigilance could use a little damage increase but we'll see. JKs were under-tuned at the start. Anyone saying anything different is wrong, according to the devs. Balance is an ongoing process. I'm just happy to see that Bioware is aware of the situation and are going to take steps to even JKs out.
  14. I agree. The armor is meh at best and that helm is nothing short of ridiculous. I personally enjoy the hooded Jedi look. The level 40 guardian PvP gear is excellent looking.
  15. As someone mentioned earlier, coming from WoW, the fights I've encountered in this game so far are longer than I'm used to. They give me plenty of time to think about whether to use my trinket, how to set up burst, check for ability effects on me, etc., rather than the WoW days where it was "OMG he's on me I have to react or die!!!" I'm fairly twitchy anyway, so the WoW playstyle was fine. But SWTOR is awesome because it allows me to think fast but act slower. I feel like I'll be able to flourish here.
  16. The way I percieve it, the guardian spec that is putting up dots (vigilance) will likely do better in a raid setting where mobs have a high amount of hit points than the spec that is all burst damage (focus.) I could be wrong, but intuitively that is how I see our DPS specs unfolding. I think if you talent correctly in vigilance you will do comparable DPS to the raid spec for Sentinel, which I would say is watchman. Maybe there are some raiders out there that can confirm/deny this.
  17. This is funny, cuz all I'm seeing from these replies is "derp derp derp I'm being punished for playing a video game and I wasn't astute enough to google "faction balance swtor" before I rolled my character."
  18. In the Vigilance tree (not sure what Sith equivalent is...Vengeance tree?) There is a talent that gives you immunity of X number of seconds after a Force Leap. It's nice. Often times they try to knock you back instantly only to waste it. If you don't choose that tree, then yes, as these guys mentioned you can save your force leap until after they knock you back. Sneak up on them and pound them while they're busy unloading on someone else. LoS is also your friend. So many ranged will chase you into a tight spot, only to get owned due to lack of range. In any battle, when possible, do not fight the enemy on their terms; make them fight you on yours.
  19. I agree, it's not a huge deal, but it is kind of annoying.
  20. I only get Huttball about 1/3 of the time. Working as intended imo. Sincerely yours, Richoshist Prymm, JEDI Knight. Edit: Keep in mind Emps, if Huttball wasn't open to both factions your que times would go through the roof. Rather than complaining about playing Huttball, you should be thankful you're getting to PvP in a timely manner. I believe that my guild (Intrepid) was looking at rolling Emp side, but when they became aware that Emps were outnumbering Republicans by 2:1 they decided to roll Republic instead. Sometimes you need to be aware of the consequences of your actions, in this case choosing a heavily-overpopulated faction.
