  1. It goes both ways, lol. It usually isn't a problem, because by the time you get there the boss is up with how fast the spawns cycle. But when you DO have competition (Two teams arrive at similar times to see someone fighting), then it's quite noticable.
  2. Although this does beg the question - if the group is an Ops group, do you still get questing Credit, or does it only count in regular-sized groups? <_<
  3. Narcissism, Ego, Competition, entitlement - a variety of emotions go into groups being competatitve for a spawn camp. I've been on both the losing and winning ends of this arguement. People with full 4-person parties pulling against us, or never answering tells or even offering can jade you to the future. Even so, I wouldn't appologise for out-pulling someone who was waiting there before. Then again, I'm used to FFXI's system of 'monsters can take 12-32 hours to spawn. Sometimes weeks. COMPETITION!' school of thought.
  4. Ok, so we've all had to do 'em, I'm sure: You have a bonus mission, and the last phase is 'Defeate Named Boss Monster XXX.' You get to the spot, and there's no enemy / target objective there - it's a timed spawn! Now, here's where the morality question comes in. Do you take the Monster as it spawns, assuming that at that point it is Free For All (You have fought your way in that far, you deserve an equal shot.) Do you assume you are required to wait for the monster to spawn, allow anyone that might've been there before you to take it, and just 'wait in line' like a 'morally better' person? Now these are really the main two options. Talking to people, to me, leaves me open to losing a chance at the boss. Regardless if I was waiting there, or fought my way there, I feel everyone has an equal chance at the monster. There isn't any 'morality' when it comes to a monster that spawns unclaimed - you haven't consumed anything other than your time, which everyone on the mission has consumed an equal amount of (Sometimes more in the other people's case.) I've recieved angry tells for out-pulling people on bosses. Hell, I've been told it 'makes guilds look bad to ninja [sic] mobs.', but let me ask you this - what's ninja'ing about it? Are you somehow more entitled to the monster if you've been standing there longer, at that spot? What if someone else was fighting longer, but just took longer due to their class restrictions? I'm in the camp of, 'if it's red, it's fair game-' this means that if a monster spawns, and I need it, I'll take it.
  5. This sort of stuff is fun. Here's one from AWA a year ago XD: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m100/Sota_03/198.jpg and one someone decided to snap of me in our front yard. XD: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m100/Sota_03/003.jpg
  6. Ultimately, even punishing the people who crash is preferable to allowing abusers. I suppose at the least, they need to put a debuff on people who desert, more than crash. But then everyone would just Crash out - I suppose a stacking debuff is the best option. First crash, 5 minute penalty, 1 stack for 24 hours ('Deserter')... Second stack, 15 minute penalty, so on and so forth. In the end, the OP has a point, and many MMO's use this because it's impossible to control people ditching out otherwise. You don't get punished for losing Warzone's badly (1-49, at least), so I don't see why you'd ditch out, anyways.
  7. Turn that duel into an RP event. I walked into the Cantina on Nar Shadaa. I RP'd being an unsure Padawan that felt uncomfortable in the presence of so many sith. One sith, in particular, ran up and challenged me - no RP, nothing. But I accepted his duel. He beat me, mind you. I was level 28, and he was level 34 - and I also was heals, so I didn't expect a Padawan healer to beat a full-sith. But once my character did the motion for loss, I RP'd that I was jumped (because it makes sense) and fought back - though I didn't win. Surprisingly, the same person that challenged me, also RP'd when I fell. They were good RP'ers, but some people have different ways of introducing themselves. You need to accept that and play with them, not against them.
  8. I'm enjoying the Republic, but that enjoyment factor is purely subjective. It helps I'm on an RP server, so I have to deal with a Sith telling my padawan every 5 seconds, 'Give in to the hatred!' etc etc. @_@ At least in BattleGrounds, my Republic side has been steamrolling the Sith. <3 Even if we're outnumbered, we still rock it quite often in the 10-49 brackets. The 50 will be interesting to see, too. Last night, we had started on Defense. The game glitched and didn't let anyone through the door at the start, so the Sith swarmed the right door and got a free breach. After that, we locked them down for the rest of the game, prevented them from getting past Door #2, and then on offense, demolished them completely and got the datacore. xD Sith can keep their numbers. Seems they're getting the **** players on my server, so I'm happy with it.
  9. There are some Japanese heavy text-based games that have a 'Hold CTRL to skip through content' option. That would be a better anology- or perhaps unfair to SW:TOR, because if you think having dialogue read to you makes a good story while they make visual gestures, then I feel sorry for books. More or less, I do agree - if I feel like I'm in a 'skippy' mood with an NPC, I'd like to hold a button down to fast-skip, not have to bash it repeatedly.
  10. My post was to Spymaster, actually. <_<; I hadn't seen your post when I was making mine. ~_^ Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. Just the douche not reading.
  11. ... Reading, +1. He's using spacebar, he's not enjoying that. He wants an option to select 'skip all previously seen content' or some such thing. You know - some games have that, some don't. Most have a "Press Start -> Press button to skip" option.
  12. Some areas have a mix of Imperial and Republic NPC's. They might've been fighting the opposite-faction NPC's. I do know that there are NPC's on each side that are Green, so I think it wasn't hostile to them. Still, healing a combat/quest NPC should be auto-flag.
  13. Still think it's missing the point. This will just become something where people will say, "Who's valor rank 999?", at which point that character will be given the General title. It's a system that inherintly favors someone highly leveled over letting everyone enjoy it equally. The only way for your system to work, is if the General is given a special set of armor, stats, and hotbar whenever they are selected. Because then it's possible to balance it out. And then we'll have people who will quit because they 'wanted to be teh leet generalz!!!' I'm sorry, a juggernaut scenario just doesn't work, imo.
  14. Second idea is nice, save the fact that the 'General' each time will become the Highest-ranked player. Unless we can find some way to control the 'stats' of the general, it won't be fun. Heck, most people would make the General a tanking class for the sheer damage reduction.
  15. WoW did. Rift did. FFXI did. FFXIV did. Though only three of those (Hint: They're in order) were any good. <_<
  16. That makes Twi'Lek's the most unique Jedi out there. They're not stuck in all these god-****ed hooded outfits. @_@
  17. I would love to see Togruta as well as Cathar. Both seem like very charismatic 'human' races - so I'm sure there would be a general appeal for them, just like many of the current races (You must admit - many of the current races focus more on their general charisma.) +1 and hoping for the best to OP.
  18. Bioware's fault for your persistance? I respect your tenacity, but don't try to blame BioWare for having it take '2 hours' - the most I've spent on a DataCron is 10 minutes. Then... Don't do it. No, you are NOT forced to pick up the minor and often trivial differences, and most of the time (I'd say maybe at least 50% of the time) the blasted things are borderline useless (We've been getting AIM and Cunning on our characters. I'd be 'SO VERY CRIPPLE D:' without it!) And to be honest... the only person who -possibly- knows of that difference in stat is YOU. Unless you just want to Screencap your level 50 character's stats to post on the forums as a brag, no one else is going to ever see if you 'missed a +3 to Presence datacron!' Particularly to your bolded, here's what you sounds like you're trying to say: Because you couldn't get it, it requires no skill to get. Even though YOU have the biased of having a 15 foot 'jump-to' skill making YOUR datacrons arguably easier to get to with a friend, it still doesn't require skill. Clearly, it required some degree of skill or else you would be able to just walk right up to it and grab it. Not only that, you failed at doing something that others have -clearly gotten- in a span of 2 hours? This doesn't sound like a problem with the game, it sounds like a problem with you. If you're willing to grind away 2 hours repeating the same mistake, without seeking help or learning, that is your fault. It's really not luck. It's quite simple and easy to get to most datacrons - and with the raw number of guides out right now, anyone who has trouble getting to one has an alternative - get a friend, and start a Duel with them. With any luck, one of you will have a pull in / force jump to that the other person can let you piggy-back off of. My friend and I do this all the time. I am a Padawan Sage, and she is a Jedi Knight. Sure, sometimes we get frustrated - but some of us LIKE the challenge it can provide. Even if it's artificial 'You didn't jump because your character ran over a bump' - it just means we had to learn more for next time. I hope BioWare's 'move' is to just laugh at you and write 'Learn2Play', but I doubt they'd be so forthcoming.
  19. 1. Both Empire and Republic, on seperate servers. #2&3. I will have to list them: Empire Sith Marauder: Renegade (Level 24) - DPS Sith Inqisitor (Caster): Paragon (Level 14) - Healer Bounty Hunter Powertech: Paragon (Level 38) - Tank Imperial Agent: Renegade (Level 17) - Healer Republic Jedi Sage: Paragon (Level 25) - Healer A lot of my characters were on the Empire because it was when my friend was playing. But I'm looking forward to doing Republic's quests. These are across two different servers. Because you have 8 slots on each server, I am going to play 8 characters on each one for the story. I'll do the inverse class and inverse choices as well as the inverse Advanced Classes. It's fun.
  20. A lot of people I've run into have been what I look at as more of loners - they'll play alone, until a heroic 2-4 man or a Flashpoint comes up, at which point they'll quickly find a group, demolish content, then disband for the remainder of the dialogue and proceed on their merry way. There's nothing wrong with this, and if it's fun - more power to you! That's what the system was designed for - choice. You're not penalized for playing alone, because you're able to still clear a lot of the content easily, while getting easy parties for higher-end content when you want to do it. There's no downtime of 'drinking water' because we have that lovely channeled-heal button on all classes (Which I love!) But, the way my friend and I play, is to do all the content together. I've found that it is a lot more enjoyable than playing around - and that truly, the game almost feels like it was made for 2 people to play through together. Your maximum party size is 4. 2 PC's + 2 NPC's. Both players gain affection for pets, meaning you both get full benefit of most conversation. Many of the Heroic quests on planets require 2 players. This means you'll be able to do more than most of the instances - and even some of the 4-man's can be 2-manned by the skilled/right team. But that's just my feelings on it - how do you guys feel? Do you feel you enjoy being alone as you level, for the solidarity and personal skill it takes to take on these large groups, or do you feel a larger team is more fun - able to enjoy more content together? If I had 3 friends who played at the same time, I would -so- play 4-man parties all the time.
  21. Eh, nice, but I liked FFXI's more: If you didn't get the vivid peaceful feeling from this music, I'm sad, but I do get those emotions. And let's not forget, one of the best bosses in the world: The music, the characters, the battle... epic. <3
  22. Quoted but fixed. Exploiters should be gotten rid of permanently, period. Once a cheat, always a cheat.
  23. I'll usually stalk them around for the next 30 minutes/however long it takes me to finish the objectives if they ninja from me even once. Especially if they don't appologise. <_< And when they do say sorry... well, it's never happened, so I guess I don't know? lol
