  1. I'm leveling alts with my girlfriend, can we do heroics to gear up?
  2. Another bump - really wanting to find guidance on gearing. Do people just accept quest rewards rather than the ncommendations now?
  3. Still hoping to get some guidance on the current methods for leveing since my Bounty Hunter's substantially undergeared atm and I could use some help :X
  4. Is it supposed to scale, or does it literally just not have stats on it?
  5. I can only seem to find information about purple armor from... 2012. I haven't found really much current about this game in all my searches.
  6. Everythign that drops now is Purple but has only armor as a stat - it doesn't have any values, mob slots, etc. I've been lookign for information on this update. Aside from finding flashpoints extremely unfun at the moment, I'm very confused by the gearing model compared to the old 12x Model where you could get gear relevent to your level at every planet. Any guidance/advice on the purpose of purple armor as well as ways to stay up-to-date with gear now?
  7. Little confused on your point, but I'll try to address it. Yes, the normal EXP rate had you doing each Planetary Mission + Side Quests in full in order to get your levels (Back in the original release pre-x12 times.) You didn't have to do the bonus series, whcih was the only nice caveat to it. Under the current system, you only have to do fresh, new, unique content 1-50 for your class stories. You get to sit and enjoy your stories while leveling up at a comfortable (Albeit fast) pace. This basically means that the people who do this can see all their story 1-50 without feeling hasslted to cosntantly go do side content that they may not care about. What I find funny is that there's people who criticize those who skip side content, citing story, while simultaneously ignoring those who specifically want to be able to just enjoy the main story of their class. I do not possibly understand how this can be contested as a negative for a fresh player coming in compared to the 12x XP system. Now, I have seen some -WONDERFUL- ideas. The idea that you could unlock it by leveling a class to 50 via the Planetary Quests + Main Story quest actually adequately satisfies both sides, in my opinion. These people would then see the Planet story for the one required time, and would - once again - have the option of turning it off thereafter. Option, choice, and player enjoyment are important. I don't know anyone that's complained about leveling with thier 12x XP (Though I've seen a few on the forums, citing that it creates a lower skill ceiling for the playerbase) but I've seen plenty that want to quit because they don't want to return to the old way of grinding if they haven't finished their quests. This to me is what kames it a very flawed system. in the original release of the game, players burned out quickly because the story of most plaents / side quests are not the meat and potatoes for most players. There's only so many ways you can say "Go kill 15 droids for me. Oh, and feel free to make a decision that will only come up in a letter." for most of these quests. Not gonna deny some are good. But I am gonna say that the players who want to enjoy the story in a story-driven game should be enabled to do that - and the 12x XP system is great for those players. The fact that you can turn it off means that it should never impact YOU as a player, because YOU have the option.
  8. I feel like you're arguing a completely different point. Only one scenario - a very EXTREME scenario I gave - involved doing light/dark side. However, that doesn't address someone who, say, leveled Sith Warrior to 50, saw all that story, and did it with 12x XP, now goes and levels a Sith Inquisitor. This person has to do Planet Story now - whcih for the first time, isn't that bad. They'll do a little extra story and take some extra time. Now they go and level their Bounty Hunter. Now they have to do planetory story again, in order to get the full experience they need to level. (Repeat) Now they go and level their Imperial Agent. Now they have to do planetary story again, in order to get the full experience they need to level (Repeat) And really. How fast did Black Talon get old for you? Someone who doesn't want to run those / rely on the Group Finder is going to be inherantly forced to grind repetative-as-**** content. And this is bad for those in the low levels trying to see all the stories.
  9. Sorry, b ut I just couldn't ignore this. Now, most people using the 12x XP are likely leveling one of every job, to see every story once in their own playthrough. These characters, in the current system, on one side, see the following: Imperial Sith Inquisitor - Main Story Quests Sith Warrior - Main Story Quests Bounty Hunter - Main Story quests Imperial Agent - Main Story Quests There is NO repeat in this scenario. They see each of the stories, and the only thing that 'repeats' is really the order of the planets due to the way the game levels. You could even CHOOSE to do Planetary stories with ANY of the classes. Now, let's take a look at what happens with the new system... Imperial Sith Inquisitor - Main Story Quests + Planet Story Sith Warrior - Main Story Quests + Planet Story Bounty Hunter - Main Story quests + Planet Story Imperial Agent - Main Story Quests + Planet Story Man. Now they have to run the same content four times! How boring. How annoying. In the above scenario, you're repeating Planet story 3 times to getting 4 different stories. But let's take it one step forward - let's say they decide to do both Light and Dark of the Imperial quests. Imperials Light Sith Inquisitor - Main Story Quests + Planet Light Sith Warrior - Main Story Quests + Planet Light Bounty Hunter - Main Story quests + Planet Light Imperial Agent - Main Story Quests + Planet Dark Sith Inquisitor - Main Story Quests + Planet Dark Sith Warrior - Main Story Quests + Planet Dark Bounty Hunter - Main Story quests + Planet Dark Imperial Agent - Main Story Quests + Planet Man, my eyes are already rolling into my head as I space bar through those planetary quests. In the above example, you have to run the planetary quest 8 times compared to your 8 different stories. Even if you give the benefit to say that the PLanet has a Light/Dark Path too, that's still a repeat of 7 to 8 Repeat:Unique. EDITS: Had some formatting issues. Sorry! Also, this little blurb below is being added in a post-edit:
  10. So tell me - How does grinding low level quests on easy mobs make them any smarter? It doesn't , really. You use the same amount of skill clearing your Story as you do Sidequests. The streamlined process just bypasses the Questing for those who want to get alts up fast / want to enjoy the story (The sidequests in this game are sub-par compared to the main story.)
  11. As a player who returned to the game specifically for the story (I quit back when this game first came out because of how dull it was), I actually appreciated his response as it let me know exactly how long the 12XP bonus will be going for. This topic was the first thread in a google search regarding how long the 12x lasts for. So yea. Just so you know, some people like me will find this and like it. ^^
  12. I mean, I know I haven't logged on my Bounty Hunter in a while because I've been leveling my Jedi Counsular, but that doesn't mean I've cancelled my account, BioWare... <_<
  13. I... this... uh... ... Is that considered being a furry? O_o
  14. There's nothing wrong with it. It's an option available to everyone, and if you choose not to use it - more power to you. I personally am fascinated by the story, and I enjoy seeing it through the character's eyes (even if those eyes may be feminine.) It doesn't make you a bigot. Just make sure not to push your preferences onto others, and there's nothing wrong with it. Though comments like 'Well, unless they're into that' is the only part that worries me a little. There's a number of reasons to play the game from the opposite gender, and it adds replayability.
  15. I was actually mildly interested in seeing the female romance options they have available. While I haven't actually looked into this at all, it does seem like something I would do for fun (Hell, I romanced Garrus in Mass Effect 2 as FemShep.) I think it's moreso about seeing the story and character interactions. Or at least it is for me - I find it fun to see how the characters change their reaction to a female from the male perspective. xD Oh Garrus, you were hilarious. Always savoring that last shot right before popping your thermal heat sink...
  16. PVP servers are definently fun for this. Me and my duo partner wnet out to go get the Datacron from the blimp at Tatooine. When we got there, a level 28 was fighting a level 32 - and he won, oddly! He warned us that there was a PVP Empire there, and so we did the logical thing - we teamed up. Slowly with time, our little 3-man team became an 8-man operations group, all going for the Datacron. The guy that kept trying to stealth kill the 3 of us at first (He was stealthing, waiting to grief us, but we would catch site of him, AoE him, and murder him) wound up giving up and warping. After about 20 minutes of waiting for the baloon we needed to get to the datacron to come, we finally were able to see it coming closer - and on the Horizon, a level 50 sith and 2 friends coming along with him. On-levels, but was a bit of a surprise. Let me be honest with you, we were not a coordinated, masterful, expert group by any standards. I had my doubts that I could heal everyone, or that the team we had would work together enough to pull it off. The numbers were stacked in our favor, but our highest level was 1 44 - meaning this level 50 had a clear advantage. When they came and attacked, one person's HP dropped by 50% in one casted strike. It was a rather painful thing to recover from, but we healed through it - and you know what was funny? With all of us swarming that 50, we beat him down to 50% HP rather fast. He proceeded to run to recover, leaving his friends behind. At which point we slaughtered them all. We held our ground, fighting the 50, and got on the baloon in the end. The greatest part of it was that in the end, he tried to run to the edge where we had jumped form to escape - tried to cast a spell on us in a last-ditch effort of 'I can still kill ONE of you!'... And I proceeded to ranged-interrupt his face. Nothing quite as epic as that. XD Moral of the story: You need to PVP on a PVP server to survive. There's power in numbers, and while I'm sorry to hear that 50's were curbstomping you, you really should rally some friends / randoms together to fight back. It's all you CAN do. Otherwise, you just have to give up, or go to a different shard if you're able to.
  17. But you must admit, it's rather well-written. I think perhaps the lack of a tone is what throws people off.
  18. Nice satire, I think a lot of people will miss it.
  19. The Bonus Area of Nar Shaddaa has open-world PVP, I know this from experience (We demolished 2 higher levels who jumped us, then when we were fighting a gold-star mob well over our level, they jumped us after hiding, lol.) But it's nice that both sides can meet in Nar Shaddaa's cantina @_@
  20. I wonder if the OP is a traditional FFXI player. There's just something that makes one more warm and opening when people actually send a message - or perhaps it's just the fufillment of a social action that gives us faith that the party can communicate and work as a cohesive unit. Either way, I agree completely... I wouldn't join from a blind invite. This goes doubly so for Guild Invites, and honestly they are both looked at in the same light to me.
  21. I would love to see some more races, as well. It really makes me paranoid of making alts if they plan to add in more races later, because I'll be kicking myself in the *** if I find out 'I Could've been THIS awesome race if I had waited?!' Really hope to see more soon!
  22. I don't RP those storylines at all. Create a seperate storyline from that, and you should be clear.
  23. ...There was an arguement? Edit-In: I was having fun. ):
  24. s'all good, that's just my sith character, didn't like him anyways. I usually play my Republic Jedi Padawan anyways.
