  1. Just hit 31 BH last night. When the Slicing Nerf went live, I had 50k Credits. Right now, I have 550k credits to my name. This all came from slicing, while simultaneously leveling my Underworld Trading, and funding my friend to level her Scavenging and both our production skills. Neither of us have used the GTN, but I'm sitting on enough items that I'm sure I could turn and sell them for a nice profit beyond what I have. It's still possible to make money with Slicing, but I'm realising something concern: The amount of money I would make at level 50 would be around 60-75k/hour. Now speeder training alone is 210k at 40, so that means I'd have to spend 3-4 hours slicing in order to get my speeder training (Assuming I manage to use up my money.) That's fine with me, but what really concerns me is the costs beyond that. People make it sound like skills will be 20k each (One time expense), but repairs costing 20k+ alone is what worries me more. I don't really want to have to farm for hours on end 'just to break even', and the simple fact of the matter is, I think my ability to utilize Slicing is at it's peak right now. This means my level 30 will be making as much when he hits level 50 - aside from random drop sales from not farming, but during the farming the number shall be consistent. Honestly, it's still possible to make money, but I'm growing anxious wondering how we will handle later level prices. I suppose my best bet is to just keep raking in what money I can before others find my strat and wreck that.
  2. So I've noticed I can garner the hate of all the enemies in the area. I can hold hate on all of them, spinning around in a hellfire of swirly fire-death and super-powered Shoryuken's. I can peel enemies off my healer almost instantly, dragging them halfway across the screen before doing a classic Scorpion uppercut while screaming "GET OVER HE---SHORYUKEN!"... But for the life of me, I can not seem to survive as long as I feel I should. I work with an Imperial Agent of the Operative variety. She tries her best to keep me up, but I can't tell if it's just me, or if perhaps we're not a good mesh of classes. Has anyone else had experience with this combination? What causes a tank to fall so fast? What stats do I need to try to up if I think I'm dying too fast? I focus on Endurance and Aim, thinking that would be enough - with my Armor/Absorbtion being equally important on pieces I can find it on. But even that never feels like enough. Any help or information is appreciated.
  3. Doesn't really make much sense. I am actually in the camp of agree with the people who would've preffered a hard cap based off levels (Hell, the missions are already in level brakets!) Even with 1 per character, the only difference would become that it would become a required skill with no input really required. At least by basing it off level, they require you to be playing the system. But then the issue if they allowed 'only one character' would become 'but I Have it on my character X at level Y that I don't want to use! Do I have to delete him and level it AGAIN just to have reliable income?" The best anology to this system is how, IIRC, certain banks where saying they were 'holding up the economy, and if they were to fall, the economy would fail as well.' ===NO ONE GROUP/PERSON/ETC SHOULD BE THE SOLE CONTROL OF THE ECONOMY=== Ever. Under any circumstances. That is ASKING for failure, on a global scale. Now, I might be remembering it wrong. I only really learned about it because - world events are not my forte, don't read the news enough, and I've been working on it ever since. IIRC, this was on European Banks, but the Government (BioWare) stepped in and fixed the situation. There are still issues, of course, but what world doesn't? And as a closing note: I still pull 50k/hr minimum playing my level 28 Bounty Hunter Slicer. Been doing it for the days since the nerf and I pull in that much consistently. Almost got enough just putting in 1-2 hours a night for my level 40 speeder for both me AND my closest friend. That's 420k I saved up at level 28.
  4. That's sort of the nice thing about Slicing. It makes you want to give money more - because you feel like you have the financial capability to do it. Without that capability, a lot of other splicers will become a lot more stingy with their credits. I know I'll still try to be giving to my friends. Like I said before, I have to save up 210k right now to make sure my friend will have their speeder training at level 40 (Already paid for their training at level 25) because they are helping me with leveling as their healer (Already hard life for them) AS WELL AS sometimes throwing me mats to level my production craft. The only thing the Slicing nerf might've hit is some slicer's sociability... Honestly, with a 'money craft' like that in the game, this game might've become one of the first ones that wasn't a pain to get money to buy things in. Ah well, still making good money, it's just more involved now.
  5. Glad you amassed that amount, but I'm still making good profit off Slicing.
  6. Call it all you want, only way to prove it without showing/telling what I do would be to have someone follow me. =/ and I'll do that when I hit 420k - enough to cover my speeder + a speeder for a close friend.
  7. Well, I'll stop using that word for ya, then. Also, not on Illum. Hate that place.
  8. best I can offer to do is Screencap before/afters of my money, but you'll dismiss that as "You're sending / recieving 20-50k from people!"
  9. Because I know how to turn a profit on Slicing? lol, keep tryin' bro.
  10. Not trollin' bro, just gotta know how to use your Slicing to your advantage. Suck less.
  11. Just made 50k last hour. Getting better at this. Maybe 4 hours to get my 210k speeder training... I'm at 140k at level 25. So I'll have my money set aside soon.
  12. I made 20k credits in 30 minutes of work with Slicing at level 25. Stop ************. Nerf me. - Level 400 Slicing on my 25 BH.
  13. I just made 20k in 30 minutes at level 25. Please nerf me. Sincerely; An intelligent slicer.
  14. Rusty Subligars, you mean? Man, that **** was so broken. XD
  15. I agree, there just aren't enough people at max-level to really say wheather this will affect the economy or not. IT will be interesting to watch, but otherwise, right now I have a nice tradeskill at 400 that I can just go out and grab money off the ground with. It seems like Slicing is more a supplemental income as it should be, instead of a Primary source of income. Think about it - when will you (most likely) make money on Slicing now? Say, doing your dailies? You will need to slice on the field, just as gatherers need to gather resources on the field, as well. It won't be easy, but it will be free money then. I think the concern people have, is that all you're getting is a static amount of money from the credits on the field, where others could turn adn sell theirs on the Marketplace (If it were working as intended) for whatever amount they could get out of it. This will either prove good or bad for Slicers. If the lockboxes cost MORE THAN the materials selling, then it will be good for them. If the materials sell for MORE THAN The amount they make from lockboxes, it will be bad for them. In the end, that'll become perspective of "Which side am I on?" instead of anything more productive.
  16. stagnating the economy is never a good thing. There needs to be both a supply and a demand, but if there aren't people with a demand (I.E., don't want to buy anything because of lack of money), there will naturally be a high supply. The high supply will cause prices to drop, or possibly cause a crash. As it's an in-game economy though, we don't really get to look forward to naked homeless people on the street. Still, Slicers get free credits off the ground, and I hit level 400 before the nerf so I don't have to pay to level it... so I'm fine with the change, as selfish as that is. I'm sure we'll find our 'place' eventually.
  17. WAit a sec, my Bounty Hunter is light side. I suppose I could go dark long enough to put a blaster to your face, though... IF there are any Republic willing to pay me enough <_<
  18. Very reasonable statement. That was really the main focus of the post, is to point out that this won't be a cure-all. Sooner or later, problems can be fixed, but this is one of the glaring ones of MMO's that regardless of how hard you work, continues to loom over you. What do you believe, after creating a Dual-Spec system, would be another step in the right direction? Do you agree that we, as players, need to take some accountability for the environment we have created? Our own attitude damns us more than one would think. If we simply choose to treat other with respect and help eachother, I think there would be more tanks/Healers, because they wouldn't feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. Beyond that, I suppose it is up to the Devs to make a class that feels fun to play. I will say, however, that last night I had a lot of fun tanking on my BH PowerTech. It was my first Heroic, and it was on level on the third planet. I could hold hate just fine, but with 4 enemies using Full-Auto at the same time (Interrupting one didn't help) my HP dropped like a rock. I died once or twice in the course of the fights, but no one ever said 'boot this ****** tank' or told me off. They worked together with me to overcome the challenge, and it made the game overall more fun. There was nothing stopping them from ducking out. It's just the good nature of people that will keep me playing as a tank to help others.
  19. While you may have guilds that are sometimes/often willing to run instances, many smaller guilds suffer from the problem of lack of people willing to help, especially in major roles. Others start to become focused on solely Raiding - and so many tanks/healers in your guild at level 50 might not want to go back and 'run dungouns' to help you. This is the slow advancement of players, and the only real way to alleviate it is to get more people who ENJOY being a tank/healer, or to support the people who already enjoy it in their endeavors. I appreciate your statement, I really do, as a strong community will ALWAYS be the best boost to a game. As a traditional FFXI, who used to spend anywhere from 10min to 3 hours looking for group, I understand exactly what you mean.
  20. Sotaka [sith Marauder]: Someone say murder? Well, this should be fun. Alabaster [Agent Operative]: I've more important things to do. If they get in my way, I'll stop them, otherwise I'm a free agent and I don't take orders from Sith. Katosu [bountyHunter PowerTech]: Waging a war with the Jedi, huh? Well you realise there's going to be a lot of blood, and blood I spill doesn't come cheap. Come talk to me when you're willing to drop some credits my way.
