  1. If we looked at the 2.0 changes the rearranging of skills allowed them to move key talents that changed the Sin/Shafow trees ending a couple of the more popular hybrids at the time. Yet people mess around with talents and come up with other hydrides. The key is to make the top of the trees worth more then the middle tier talents in 2 trees. And add something's to the top of tank trees to make people want to at them. They should look at what makes the tank hybrids popular and add some of that to the top talents in the tank trees.

I love hybrids from Iron Fist to 24/1/17 to Carolina Parokeet but from a solo queue and arena balance perspective they are hard to balance as such it's understandable why they try to remove them.

  2. First off they did nerf hybrid builds and are continuing to nerf them with every update. From a JK PoV, and im a hybrid, the only thing they added to us was a rework of Focus defense. Yes some sorcs may seem to be nerfed but once you learn you class rotation and their limits with yours also "know" how their rotation work, most any class and tree can be defeated.

The real issue with one of the hybrids is the Sorc/Sage heal hybrid that lists them as DPS for solo queue arenas giving your team or the other team (which is most people problem I'd wager) a healer on their team vs 4 DPS. That causes obvious balance issues.

I am not saying it needs a nerf but BW has done so in the past repeatedly to remove hybrids look at the Sin changes, PT changes, Jug changes it seems they will follow suit and do so with this one as well. I used to love Iron Fist, Carolina Parkeet, the Sin X/1/X tank/DF build and wish they were still available builds to play.

What BW should do is look at what makes hybrids fun to play. Then apply that to top talent tank trees and heal trees to encourage full trees making balance easier. The same for the DPS trees as well make the tops attractive and people will go for those key stone talents instead of hybrids in most cases.

  3. [QQ incoming]

As a start, I don't begrudge Guardians the buff. I have one myself. It's an amazing, amazing power. But my significantly better geared Shadow tank seems left in the shadows (intended). I know this is a whine post. I already bought the cheese, thanks.

    [/QQ]

Had to get that off my chest, but how do you all feel?

Did you speak out against the change at the time? People at the time in general appeared to like the 2.5 changes.

It was split with people against the self heal change and those that liked it.

QQing now is a little late. Other class changes have nothing to do with Shadows, if it's OP it will be nerfed sooner or later.

The BW Dev bashing is a joke have some class. If any of our jobs were under a microscope with such a passionate customer base they could easily nit pick ****.

Thinking players could seriously be unbiased when it comes to balance is laughable. Just look at some of the suggestions that have ran through the Shadow/Sin forums of what people want lol.

BW should balance around the top 5-10% let the rest shake out. The change in question seems more like a buff directed at the masses for balance. I think everyone however can agree that Jug/Guard DPS needed some survivability boost to bring them into ranked but this buff in the hands of a top 10% player makes the class OP. Plus let's be real, most players are not as good as they think which makes having a logical discussion in any form on these forums difficult in particular when it resorts to bashing devs/BW.

I get the frustration everyone at some point or time has had enough of a particular direction the game moves in as it seems counter intuitive to what they should be doing. Some of us have stopped playing the game for periods at a time due to it. But the hate goes too far when it gets personal, they arent purposely trying to piss off the players and I would hope they dont pick classes out of a hat to rotate being OP even if it seems that way some times. The Devs are often in a position where they cant lay out the entire road map of changes to come because any changes to that road map causes waves of qq. Let's hope they have more changes coming, much like they noted with the Orbital Strike change they havent yet finished the changes to the Sniper class as they are gradually (some times at an ice berg pace) making class changes in the direction they want the classes to go. I would love to have our self heal back and they should've scaled them with 2.0 but they choose not too which resulted in balance issues. Let's hope they can see what is going on with Jugs/Guards and act swiftly, although it's more then likely they wont and it will be ****ed for some time.

While they are at it, I really wish we could get our Hybrids back to how they were pre 2.0. Much like the VG/PT class at launch had a Iron Fist and Carolina Parakeet which were fun to play. However the devs have proven they have a hard enough time balancing the specs as they are let alone with Hybrids involved. I hope they dont continue to dumb it down even further although that appears the direction we maybe headed in. Like Xinika has posted before, they need to make the top talents more appealing. Also they should look at what makes Hybrids so appealing and find a way to incorporate that into the top of the tank tree, as that would give players enjoyment in playing that tree.

I apologize for rambling work is boring today.

    /rant

  4. This has been awesome, the off topic keeps **** poppin. Let's get back to how 8 free class stories isnt enough for F2P that's the good ****. They should get everything for free. Anything you need to complete the 8 class stories you are given as f2p, yes it's slower and a lot of QoL items are missing but its a pretty good deal for not paying ****. Any complaining about that is generally laughable. What would be gained by changing the F2P restrictions? No one can say with any certainty it's all conjecture.

Isnt it about time for WFW to take over? Wildstar is going to kill this game, if not then the WoW X-Pac will! Down with SWTOR!

  5. Well considering the pre2.7 version was almost identical to Carnage. Even now with lolheal, I still play them the exact same way. Plenty of bad ones out there too.

This is exactly why I didn't touch Smash. People think Combat got issues when it really don't, besides energy management, at that only needs a minor tweak..

Well to be fair if all anyone every played was smash then they now have to switch to carnage one can see how they would have difficulty and would qq. Plus let's be real most players arent nearly as good as their minds eye sees them self as.

  6. that´s impossible.

did somebody actually read the tooltip? or even looked at the buff from ED?

yes, the duration is 30 seconds. but that doesn´t mean it heals you 30 seconds, each second for 1453. it has 10 charges. so, 14530 max.

If this is the real number it can heal for then the qq seems unjustified and whomever said it was 32k is clearly coming at it from a biased angle. (I am too lazy to verify this as apparently are most of the qqers which is nothing new).

But it's kinda funny that a lot of the people against it are my Shadow/Sin brothers and sisters in this thread maybe just a coincidence since Xinika started the thread, let's go with that.

  7. With no regard to the amount of lag that players face.

    Cheers!

Are people honestly having lag issues in the new HB or is this just something to qq about?

I have yet to experience and I dont have a super pc by any means, however when I use to play on my laptop I would get some lag in the original HB on occasion. Only place I get lag in in the 2nd round of Tactical FPs released a bit ago but I have yet to play the new ones.

  8. I think that's a Shadow, actually, not a Sage ... Or am I mixing the symbols again ?

Rofl.... Why did you even post? Look at it again, look at the scoreboard, look at the character frame, look at who posted it. You don't have to be Nancy Drew to figure this out.

  9. >> 1pm CDT / 6pm GMT: Valiant Jedi armor set for 144 CC (90% off)

*sigh* Been waiting for to go on sale since they put it up and it happens while I'm at work for 1 whole hour. What's next double xp weekend while I'm on vacation? Oh yes that's right I'm away Apr 10-14 Bioware 2 : me 0.

Seems like a ****** move on BW's part to do this on a Friday while a lot of players are at work. Although great for the people that are around to take advantage of the deals.

  10. I think that can be answered by looking at why hybrid tanks in DPS gear are popular currently, which is Pure Tanks in Tank gear don't gain much survivability, and lose a lot of DPS compared to hybrid tanks in DPS gear.

Mitigation in full tank gear needs to be more worthwhile

Lack of DPS either need to be augmented with better Tank DPS or better Tank tools to disrupt the opposing team, giving the tank a value that is strong but different then being able to burn an opponent down.

Agree and this is a good point as someone that played a lot of the pre 2.0 Sin Darkness/madness hybrid and early specs like Iron-Fist and Carolina Parakeet. These are popular because you can guard and have some tanking tools but also the DPS to contribute and not be so reliant on a healer. As Koozie noted add some DPS gains to the top of the tank tree, it's the quickest and most likely easiest changes to make just make sure it isnt too much that makes them OP.

Really just look at why the hybrids are popular and figure out how to harness some of that into the tank trees and lock key stone tree abilities gained to the stances. Although I really dislike the removal of hybrids it's in a way a removal of options, heck Sins pre 2.0 there were 3+ good hybrids and the full trees that were all fun to play.

It's nice to see rational discussion and not a bunch of qq, outside of a few people, to the answers.

  11. Thanks Eric.

Hardly surprising given the info we've already had. Not the most encouraging either. However the responses pretty much reenforce why they don't respond often. If it's anything other then yes or it's on the roadmap people go komikozi and explode. On the flip side if items that required a lot of resources were approved the PvErs would be in here doing the samething about their lack of attention and wasting resources on PvP.

This is mostly a lose-lose situation for BW no matter what the answers or direction. Not to say they shouldn't provide some clarifications or explanation of the cost to achieve these items people want. More communication is always good in the long run. In part because some don't appear that challenging to complete but it comes across like BW is disregarding the communities wants. Too bad when I first saw this I thought with the last announcement we might gave some good news coming, not so much.

It's really too bad this game just has so much potential for PvP with a good combat system and it's freaking Star Wars! It starts to feel at some point what could be and it's discouraging with nothing awesome to really look forward to outside of hopefully continual balance changes and a new HB map but it could be expanded so much further.

  12. with cyberpower - from personal experience, their desktops are pretty good. laptops? have some issues (I had overheating problems that were not really solved through warranty). issues could be worked around (for time being I throttled my CPU, so its now within safe heating range, but I'll have to eventually find a better solution), but they are still there. HP at least few years back was pretty good (my 3 year old HP computer is still chugging along and plays SWTOR among other things, its just having trouble with newer games, and I've upgraded it as far as it will go), but they cost more than cyberpower

as for building your own, I did math and its not really worth it unless you have

    1. at least some experience with building

    2. have someone to help you with parts selection AND assembly

    3. inside track to where to get those parts cheaper (I checked NEwegg prices personally, with occasional foray to amazon - been told e-bay has better prices, but I'm personally weary of buying parts of ebay. you may luck out and get something awesome, or you may get cheated horribly)

it will save you maybe $100 off having system built with something like cyberpower (they let you pick out manufacturers and brand names), if you get a lucky sale. at least that was my experience when I was working out whether I wanted to build my own, or just have it built for me

IMO, build your own system ONLY if you enjoy building computers and tinkering with tech.

speaking of which. get windows 7 instead of 8 if you can. and/or consider buying a prebuilt system from amazon. they often have very nice sales for pretty decent prices - you just don't get to pick out parts.

OP I would suggest going to Toms Hardware forums and talk to the people there. They provide more in depth answers and will help pick out a machine.

The person I quoted, no offense but it's most just your opinion not many facts there including your Windows 8 comments further on in the thread expands on that.

There is a web site http://pcpartpicker.com/ this allies you to put parts in check prices and most importantly compatibility contrary to the person I quoted. As for W8.1 vs 7 there are slight performance benefits to using 8.1 on a gaming desktop vs W7 despite some of the things said here.

That said don't take anything said from some one else as complete fact do some research and find the answers essentially google it and you will see who knows what's what.

Good luck and building a pc these days really is a breeze you can youtube any part of it and there great guides on Tomshardware and over places that walk you through it. Or buy the parts and a place like Frys will put it togeter for $50 install the OS yourself it's really easy these days.

Edit: to clarify I don't love W8 or Server 2012 in particular the first month using the OSs and I dislike a lot about the set up but the question of which is better for a gaming pc takes personal preference out of it. Plus 8.1 adds some functionality back making it better for day to day business use.

  13. Next expansion they need to copy WoW and just remove talent trees. I highly doubt the developers intend for hybrid specs to be used in this game. Talent trees cause all sorts of problems. They make leveling more annoying, because you can't give some classes their core abilities early on. Talent trees, how they are currently set-up, doesn't really give much versatility with specs. I mean for the most part everyone selects the same talents. A WoW style talent system would be better in every way. You could have talent changes before warzones/arenas, but still disallow spec changing and there would be no hybrids specs to worry about, but more of an overall selection of talents.

I don't even know if this is a problem with sorc hybrids. I mean its a gamble using that spec, if you don't know for sure what's queuing. But how do you fix it without changing how the talent system works? Put innervate at the top of the tree? I mean its already really high up there. Make the queue system register a sorc as a healer if they pick up innervate? What about tank sins that pick up low slash? And you can still guard as a dps no matter what talents you choose.

No thank you to removing talent trees. Just move talent points around to break the hybrids as they have done in ever instant in the past with all hybrids if they are an issue for balance in ranked with the top 10% players skill level.

  14. It was either that or "Jett Not Munky."

Duran'del here: blah blah *********** blah blah blah *********** blah blah blah *********** blah

And I thought I'd never have to use something I've learned in English class :p

    M.F. Here;

Everyone is now dumber for having read this nonsensical BS. It was been stated in other threads what the issues are to the OP specifically yet you need to make another thread and go off in the mother *********** weeds with it. The basis of your argument is it's cool, which hold no weight in a game were class balance is needed. You might have a better argument that they need to return Iron Fist or Carolina Parakeet at least with those specs you sacraficed DPS for surviability and jet charge and they were fun. This request is a prime example of why the game should be balanced around the top 10% of players.

This boils down to being selfish and only caring about what is fun for you and what you think is cool, essentially a single player game mentality.

Players with much more experience and a considerable better grasp of class and game mechanics trying to explain it over and over. This thread "ironically" serves no purpose. You can't cherry pick abilities from certain class to compare why JC should be baseline you have to take all anities and class design into account plus other classes entire ability tool kit and how they interact as Koozie and others have stated multiple times to the OP and others in multiple other threads.

This sums it up the best:

    Duran'del here:

a bumbling idiot who isn't smart enough...

Oh and this *********** suggestion of give us 2 weeks with JC to test it or build us a test server with it is laughable and further shows a lack of understanding of development and project planning but don't feel bad most don't understand that process.

Might be harsh but enough is enough either provide a real factual based argument using the numbers, game mechanics and class mechanics to justify a change of this magnitude or stop the BS. This argument is not cherry picking abilities to compare as weakly attempted here.

Once you attempt to do this for real with an unbiased look at the game the issues of this change should be apparently clear.

  15. The real answer is BW needs a matching system for team distribution since you are locked into a spec at time of queuing if 3 players are identified as heals they should be seperated 1 on team 2 on the other same with tanks. Not put on the same side. (Same faction of course) That is the main gripe, it should be relatively simple they have the logic in solo queue arenas and they have players flagged for spec.

Hopefully they are working on this, but who knows this is a QoL issue and won't necessarily lead to revenue generation like forward Dev has the potential to. Or is lower on the list of issues and the PMs and other decision makers don't think it's worth the time to put in the game.

While they are at it they should turn RWZs back on as well as implement the RWZ solo queue initially included in the ill fated Rated WZ pull at the last minute from the patch that helped accelerate the "mass exodus" of the initially population of players. Seems with the current technology in place this should be a low cost and time project to complete.

  16. Sorry the QQ makes little sense. This is the model the game has followed since release and it's the model they will continue to follow like WoW and other MMOs of similar ilk. QQ wont change ****, this is the model everyone has played since the start of the game what's the big surprise or cause for the over reaction theater.

Either way I could care less, I dont need a reason to queue for PvP but it's nice to have different goals to work towards revolving around total rep, kills, objectives, healing, protection ect.

Provide titles like WoW had in BC like Justicar and Conqueror that took a lot of playing time to achieve across 3 BGs. Add rewards like title or helm, gloves and chest pieces that stand out and to get them you need (for example) 1 Mill kills in Huttball or 100k times carrying the ball in for a score or X # of objective points in CW or 100k door caps ect.

This should be a relatively cheap endeavor to code up and making gear is clearly easy, but this gear should be like Darth Malgus's chest piece. Something people would want and this is the only way to get it. These wouldn't be hard to achieve but they would take a lot of time in turn keeping queue times lower. One thing we know is MMO players if they want something they will put in the time to get it. BW just needs to provide the right motivations.

It seems so simple to do and I hate to marginalize the Dev staff because that isnt fair, we dont know the code and we arent in the management meetings. But it is something they should really consider. As well as cross server queues but that horse has been beaten many times already.

    Good day.
