  1. Yes, they are different... GW2 way is better....

ROFL if you go to the GW2 PvP forums its the same as here. People unhappy with the current meta, the uselessness of Thief and Warrior, the bunker meta, the expansion fracked up PvP ect. That is one thing that the games have in common.

GW2 PvP is different better is a matter of opinion. It's a different style of PvP just like WS, you cant compare them because they are built differently. If you are having such a great time why are you here if I may ask? The CC never really bothered me, if it is a hang up for you then enjoy GW2 PvP while you still can. People instead of knocking games should be glad we are in an era where we have multiple MMOs that we can play and people can find which games style they enjoy the best, it hasnt always been that way in the MMO space.

Most players have played most if not all the recent and older MMOs on the market either when they launched or in beta ect. There is nothing that is capturing people. So you bounce around play what is fun till you are burnt out and then play something else, I for one am happy we live in a time with so many different choices.

If I was to play GW2 now for the first time it would have a different feel and if I'd never played anything like it I might thing it was the best thing since vajaj. WvWvW was awesome (minus the bugs at launch where armies would disappear lol) but that doesnt seem to be the case any longer with HoT as it seems the upgrade mechanic and new map arent that great.

That said people are blowing the guard mechanic out of portion. Yes it is strong but how come it is now a huge problem? What changed to make it such a large issue? The guard mechanic plus taunts are what make tanking in SWTOR unique and add flavor to the game, it is never going to be removed & it shouldn't be.

A better alternative is looking into what the exact issue is and making suggestions on how to tune it. And lol at guard turning people away from the game hyperbole. There are many reasons people stopped playing and went other places, guard is likely at the bottom of that list well behind CC. For instance like patch 1.2 pulling of RWZs and Solo RWZs (per the guild summit) the night before, the removal of RWZs in favor of arenas, lack of balance and content ect.

  2. While I'm all in favor of players giving feedback, this specific line of thought makes absolutely no sense to me. If you would rather the game be dead - then do not play it, you personally will be in the exact same position as if it had died (i.e. not playing it) and those who enjoy it will still have it. Saying "it needs to die" amounts to nothing more than "screw people who like things that are different than what I like".

Agree.. AAA MMOs are expensive to develop and the new ones are not succeeding in the sub model. Due to this backers are viewing creating AAA MMOs as a risk. If SWTOR dies we may not get another MMO and it certainly will not happen for years given how long it takes to create an MMO.

Be happy we have a SWTOR MMO and enjoy it while you can. It cannot be all things to everyone and too bad for us that play for the MMO bits BW gave us the middle finger this time around. But we only have 2 options well some have 3, I prefer play what I like in the game and focus on that or move on. Some people prefer option 3 repeat the same drivel daily in each thread about how the game is dying, BW sucks, it's Eric's fault and the game is in maintenance mode.

Happy Holidays everyone! At the very least enjoy chucking snowballs at Koth's head!

  3. Without guard, PvP is fun. Sorc heals aren't op at all. Merc/Mando and Op/Scound heals could then be buffed up to the sorc level without causing imbalance. As it stands now, in PvP, Op/Scound heals are about right while the other two need tuning with this absurd 50% damage sharing.

/shrug. Too many close-minded people hiding out in SWTOR PvP to have any perspective. Its a shame too. This game has so much potential to be a great PvP game but is squandered.

There are clearly issues with PvP however belittling people who dont agree with you devalues your post and gives you the appearance of being dismissive of those that dont share the same opinion.

The first thing to consider is what are we trying to balance for? Who are we balancing around? From all the OPs posts about healing essentially every other day he is coming from Regs which lets be honest you cannot really balance around random 8 people when there is no role balancing or match making. Given that it appears group ranked is what they are balancing around? (Really who knows what they are doing outside of using their metrics to decide changes)

BW appears to consider group 4s the top line of PvP. From that point I've always been of the mind you have to balance around the top 10% of the players. Coming from there, is guard a problem in 4s with competent players?

If not then lets look at other solutions that do not impact group ranked. (Which in itself is a bit off since the number of people that play group ranked versus Regs however there has to be some balance target that is quantifiable)

The issue is most other solutions come down to having cross server with a larger player pool to draw from allowing for better match making. Having role slots in the queue system so multiple tanks an healers arent stacked on one side ect.

How did this become a huge problem in 4.0? How have people dealt with tanks in the past? If i is such an issue now how did it become this way? What changed? Is it a sum of HP increase, plus mobility changes, plus burst nerfs? Or what exactly is causing the issue you are very vague in your conclusion of why guard is a problem.

The main issue in regs with Guard plus Heals is it takes teamwork to kill or subdue them in addition to no match making or taking roles into account. You cant burn through them unless they are bad players solo. It takes coordination and CC this seems to be the crux for people and given the OPs history of waiting a DPS vs DPS only game people do not agree with this and respond accordingly, there is that underlying context when addressing his posts.

That said, do you really believe what I think, you think or others think and type in this thread is going to change anything? We are not, BW will not make any changes based on this thread, they will do whatever they think based on their metrics not giving 1 **** what's said here. Blaming the player base for what you think is the games potential is silly.

  4. The trinity system has been designed for PvE. What I'm trying to say is that it shouldn't be implemented into PvP without substantial modification. A tank & heal combo that was designed with PvE bosses in mind is as difficult to beat as the PvE bosses themselves. This is not what PvP is about.

That's not what PvP is about to you. Changing tanks what would you propose? A lot of players that play tanks and classes with tanking trees are because they enjoy the ability to guard and/or taunt. This is a unique feature to SWTOR PvP. Competent tank + healer has always been a tough battle, the fact they are now so powerful is in direct correlation to the strength of DPS and Heals - in particular Sorcs.

I do not think changing what makes Tank classes unique is a good approach if you have other ideas that dont remove the uniqueness that SWTOR offers for tank classes suggest them but lately your multiple posts come across more as one continues stream of qq.

  5. I'm glad you liked it. I didn't. It's not a huge deal that requires a defense.

I can certainly understand your point of view.

I thought it was an entertaining movie and I was impressed with Daisy Riddley, she killed it as Rey. The move over all had some issues and it was a bit of recycled a New Hope. In addition to the macguffin I wish it was handled better.

The humor was good and some times great. It's hard to really get into what I loved and wasnt as fond of without spoilers.

Over all I highly enjoyed it despite the minor flaws, I wish it was a bit longer with a bit more in it versus leaving it for 18 months till we get EVIII. I think in general most people will enjoy watching the film.

  6.

Here is the problem...there are two options as to what we see.

1.they are under MAJOR pressure to not simply maintain but show major revenue growth this quarter .

    2. Clearly their budget has been cut severely.

    .

Can you site your sources? We can hear the quarterly earnings and info from the meeting however where did you get this info? Thanks

Edit: Also you bringing up terminations ect. If that was the case how come there was no major marketing push by EA? It would seem that if you want growth you need to market, heck put a commercial up during Rebels.

In addition, if they have huge budget cuts why pay Blurr a $ million or whatever the trailer costs to produce it? It seems like without proper marketing dropping that sort of cash on a trailer is an odd choice. I am curious how you came about this information. Thanks again.

  7. IMO EA/BW should've partnered with Regal or some chain, like Cinemark did with the glasses, to give out 30 day time cards when you buy your ticket for the movie. Or came up with a way to play the first 3 trailers before the movie starters., you know when they showing like coke and ABC Family commercials.

Anything like that would've brought people in. There of course are much smaller things they could do as well anything is better then nothing. A missed opportunity kind of sums of this MMO really. Maybe they were told they cant but we need something other then hearsay for that.

  8. You know what, that's fine and dandy that they do help out the community by posting strats and guides. It's much appreciated by all. But here's the deal. Do they do it because they love the game and want to help make it better? If so yeah, I'll give them all the props they rightfully deserve. Are they like the OP, and think that all lesser mortals not in NIM gear riding NIM mounts should bow down to their greatness? Then I'm gonna point and laugh at their misplaced sense of epeen all day long.

Well there is the little fact that some sites pay them to write the guides as well. It's not all from the goodness of their heart from that perspective. Yes the ones that answer questions and theory craft on the forums and answer questions in game to help players are without a doubt valued, like Kre'a. However it wont be the end all be all of the external help for the game. Look at TOCommunity this isnt made by all hardcore raiders yet they dedicated their time to making the website for the game. However this really digresses from the point that should be made.

Over all it takes all parts of the community for a game to thrive, look at Wildstar, which tried to cater to hardcore raiders and it didnt work out so well in today's current game climate. It appears the MMO player base as a whole has gotten older, has more to do and is not as willing to put in the same investment.

Now I disagree with the way the OP went about this post, it reenforces what non-raiders think of raiders.

I have been a server 1st raider in the past putting up top 10 parses in another game. I raided to challenge myself and be the best. To put out the top DPS, I could careless about what my gear looked like and I didnt get into cause I saw this massively awesome guy in gear or because I wanted to flaunt mimiron's head around SW. I did it because I liked my raid group, wanted to play with my friend and challenge ourselves in a different way then just PvP. This of course is only my motivations much like the OPs motivations were cause he wanted to be king dingaling running laps around the fleet. We all play for different reasons and all factions should respect that of other players.

But really all of that is arbitrary and the issue is with BW it should not be with us the players regardless of why we play or what we play for.

BW has made a choice to pretty much change this game out from under those of us that have been here since the start that came to play an MMO. That is their choice but it will have repercussions. Most of these people dont want to stop playing the game but the fact BW, not Eric dont shoot the messenger as some people are doing, heck it probably wasnt the Devs choice, it was like the PMs or someone up the ladder that choice this course of action. They decided you know what, thanks guys for playing but f you. No PvP for you, No raids for you, No new group content for you. What we want is new players we like their money better.

A point about the FF talk. yes FF's reached 5 million registered accounts. They do not have 5 mill active subs players, it is a misleading marketing point they released.

  9. Didn't read all the responses, I'm sure BW wont either. Essentially they keep making the same mistakes. They over hyped the ****, which is the crux of the issue if they would've just said tune in this week, the end. It would've come off much better. However people will always be unhappy no matter what as a game cannot cater to all types dammed if they do dammed if they dont.

What they needed to do was assure us the MMO parts aren't really gone as they appear to be. That is what the Founder and long time subs are here for companion #30 doesn't really stoke the flames of yearning.

  10. I'm angry that they .. took away my fun.

About sums up most of the comments in this thread.

Thank you to those that took Eric seriously and provided the asked for feedback hopefully this helps them decided what to do. I will add feedback later once I'm home and can provide accurate results.

One thing is very clear you cant balance for player skill and due to that there is always going to be an issue with this, its up to BW to decide what their design goal is.

They (the PM, Devs, QA ect whoever decided comp power was all good) really failed by pushing out comps as strong as they were. They had months or a year to tune them. If they hadn't pushed them out in that state we wouldn't be here right now. It's a shame they keep repeating this mistake. Whomever is calling the shots there really needs to review their processes and figure out how to correct it and prevent this from continually occurring.

  11. I encountered this issue after I created a level 60 and took the legacy gear, deleted him, then recreated another level 60. It dropped me as a level 1 at the fleet. I logged out, deleted it tried again and it worked fine. This has occurred a few times when I was collecting the set looks and checking a couple things out but each time I just deleted my toon and tried again which appeared to work.
  12. People have asked for a new class repeatedly. After watching last week’s rebels where they introduced the Seventh Sister. A dual lightsaber wielding force user that used small probe droids to help attack and do her bidding. Would fill the role of a pet class something people had been asking for.

Would be an interesting idea. I’m sure this has been pointed out previously.

No need to have the class start at level 10 doing voice work and stuff. With the invention of level 60 token, and the start of the Fallen Empire, why not take WoW’s Death Knight idea. The new class would start at 60 and go from there. Or create a story where you can use one of the other classes voice for it, I’m sure these creative people could figure out a way to make it work. She is an Inquisitor after all in Rebels.

Anyway just a thought I wanted to pass on.

  13. Let me start by saying some of the cullings and consolidations were great and felt long overdue. No one needed a forty-seventh minor starfighter experience boost that would not stack with the other three, and moving to armor crates only instead of individual armor pieces was a great move as well. Both of these were great ideas.

However, the packs were over-simplified and they just don't feel as fun to open any more. Like previous posters said, the removal of Jawa junk is the most glaring offender - it was the one thing I literally could not have enough of, the one thing I knew was going to make the pack at least somewhat worthwhile no matter what items actually came with it. In the same vein, I miss getting reputation items and/or cartel certificates. All these were guaranteed tokens of value that one could rely on, however miniscule. With them gone, so is the incentive to amass packs.

If this is the new pack/crate structure going forth, I will honestly stop buying crates entirely and just get contents from the GTN instead. If you ask me personally, the ideal pack would contain:

    • One crate of armor pieces
    • One serving of Jawa junk of random rarity
    • One rep item or one cartel certificate
    • One of either a crystal, a weapon, a decoration, a mount, a pet or an emote

Four things, two of which are bound to character/legacy, seems like the best ratio to make contents appeal to both buyers and resellers. The sheer abundance of companion gift drops in-game since 4.0 makes including them in cartel packs fairly superfluous in my opinion.

That's my 2 cents. Thank you for reaching out and giving us the chance to consolidate feedback.

I pretty much agree with this. I bought a hypercrate and even though it is 30 packs you receive less items and I only got 2 items that are any real value or rarity. Without the additional jawa junk, credit boosts or rep the perceived value to me is low and not worth the cost.

However if your luck was really good, like I watched KranitokoGames packing opening and he received 3 Akk dog licenses which are of real value, your perception on the changes might be different. Even though he received those his initial reaction was that the he didnt feel he received the same amount of items or value.

  14. Good to see the Mando/Merc's may finally become a viable PvP choice.

Well, this update when its live to all is going to be interesting in that FOTM characters are going to become even more obvious.

With the ability to purchase level 60 characters off the cartel market, the ability to change to FOTM characters will be really simple to make.

I would love to see in 6 months time how much Bioware is making off people purchasing level 60 characters.

Hey on the bright side maybe BW will make balance changes much quicker to encourage more insta 60 purchases so the FoTM rerolls will keep flipping?

  15. Maybe, but that comes with a lot of asterisks.

First, yes, there were never that many teams queuing 8v8s (excluding one or two servers, and I'm going to come back to that in a moment) but a good reason for that was that 8v8s never got a proper season with dedicated rewards. Yes, there was rated gear but it was just recolored versions of of pre-existing gear. There weren't even leaderboards so pride doesn't even play a factor. You can't really say nobody was interested in playing ranked 8v8 when there was never really any reason given to play 8v8s.

Second, there was still more interest in ranked 8v8 than there is in ranked 4v4s. One or two servers had as many as ten teams playing 8v8s during prime time. That number dropped to three or four teams. There just isn't any interest in arenas (probably because they're incredibly unpopular and absurdly broken). Hell, even BW has admitted that solo ranked is much more successful, and on that note:

Third, 8v8s never had a solo option. And, let me stress this, pretty much everyone who wants 8v8s back also wants solo versions of them. Don't say "But there aren't enough players for solo ranked" because see point two. There is a wealth of players who don't participate in ranked because either they don't like arenas or they don't feel their class is viable for them (or both). How many times have you seen Mercs and Snipers talking about how they won't queue because they don't stand a chance? If you added solo ranked objective matches I'd say you'd at least double the number of participants (and I consider that an extremely conservative estimate).

And just to tie things up: if they removed solo ranked arenas, if they removed the leaderboards, if the only rewards were recolors of already existing top tier gear, would anybody be queuing for ranked at all?

Pretty much this. In March 2012, I believe after the Guild Summit, there was word there would be solo queue added for ranked 8v8. Then the debacle of 1.2 occurred which that led to **** storm and this never happening. They had intentions of doing this at one point and I believe it would be good option to bring into the game for the aforementioned reasons in this thread.

  16. Gotta admit there is some humor in some mara's rerolling FOTY classes. When for the better part of the first 2 XPacs they were one of the dominate classes in PvP and told others to suck it up.

Although I would personally rather go back to when Rage was FOTY vs what we have now. However if we could go back to pre 1.2 patch, I think it was 1.2 that altered TTK and other things, I would much prefer that.

  17. The community could certainly benefit from more pvp guilds that have a solid base and leadership that are willing to take in players of all skill levels focused on pvp.

If new players have a place to learn they'll be more inclined to stick it out. Plus having a guild to pvp with helps kill the monotony in game. There's just not a lot of pvp focused guild willing to help people learn pvp it seems on all most all server forums you see individuals looking for pvp focused guilds.

That said it takes time and desire to run a guild and a lot of adults don't want to commit that time.

  18. I still think a better idea is to do what they originally had proposed with 1.2 before they pulled it and that is RWZs solo queue. Limit rewards in both solo queues imo. Force those that want the mount to join a team and do ranked 4s.

That said more people clearly like WZs and if you go with a solo queue 8v8 I think there'd be a large population queuing. Yea it'd probably hurt solo queue arenas some but w/e. It would also allow more classes to be acceptable in Ranked and hopefully delude some of the FoTM rerolls.
