  1. Dont use a healing comp. Use a damage one and send them in first. The droid will keep them alive for the most part and every boss fight includes those kolto terminals that heal you and the comp.
  2. I did the solo flashpoints with a mix of 156 and 162 on myself and companion. You dont need to regear, Indeed, you can complete the Rishi quests with just thee 162 drops easy enough as well. I havent spent any comms yet.
  3. My first run through on this content, I'm not in a guild and I don't use XP boosts. I've just finished the the slave camp missions on Rishi and I'm halfway to 58. I'm not entirely sure how you can get through it all and be only 57 to be honest.
  4. Not necessarily. You get 300K or more XP just for going to the planet and going through the first cut scene. In fact the missions with boost give nearly as much XP as makeb does.
  5. I'm not getting the lack of cash thing. I'm leveling a jedi knight at the minute, 51 on corellia just now, I've done it by using the class story and done the main planet questline alongside it (no side quests), the planet quests are usually right next to the class ones anyway. I've been able to upgrade both my and my companions gear every 8 to 10 levels with a mixture of comms and bought mods, and have 700K in the bank.
  6. Buy, from either GTN or planet comms, or craft mods for your gear. I've found that if you kit out you and your comp every 10 levels you will be fine, as you end up 3 or 4 levels over the mobs anyway. Blues work best, but even green mods do the job, although you may have to swap them every 8 levels
  7. I leveled at launch I'm leveling now with the xp bonus. Cant see the problem
  8. Pre ordered. Worth it to get those few toons i have straggling at the mid twenty levels to 55 to be honest.
  9. Thank you for all the advice guys, much appreciated. I have a variety fo characters, mostly hybrids for solo play, my sorcerer has a bit of damage and healing for instance and my powertech is damage and a bit of tank for solo survivability, although my Marauder is an out and out DPS. Given the hybrids probably are not best optimized for group play, I would concentrate on the marauder for that I would think. I've been playing MMO's since everquest so the mechanics are not so much the issue, sorry should have been a bit clearer. I'm not sure where to start in terms of which operations or flashpoint I should go for at the beginning. I've looked at groupfinder and as a 55 I seem restricted to certain ones, and I'm looking for recommendations as to which operation or flashpoint I should start with, is there a 'best route' through the various options.
  10. I started this game right at the beginning, one of the first to join the original forums, and so on, launch day player. In the rush to get on I ended up on a server away from most of my friends, and played mostly solo as a result. Then came the exodus and I found myself on a server where it was very difficult to find a group to do anything even if I wanted, so I concentrated on the story aspect and leveled a few toons all solo. I've come back to the game with the galactic stronghold thing, and after server mergers and so on that took place I am on a fairly busy server the red eclipse, and after getting used to the changes and playing with my new apartments, I've mostly been running daily missions to get my 3 level 55 toons some half decent equipment from the basic vendors. Here is my problem. I have never done any flashpoints or operations in this game. I have no idea what to expect and do not really know how any of them work, is there a route I should take to get me into this aspect of the game, its going to be PUG groups, I suppose through the group finder, but I don't really know where I should start.
  11. I did it as a marauder with vette. Died the first time as I had no idea of mechanics. 2nd time I started the attack off to the side so vette wouldnt get hit by the giant laser thingy, then I just ran around killing refuelling droidswhilst dropping bleeds on archon for my heals, vette took him down . I didnt do the thing at the back as I totally missed when the shields came down , but other than that it was fairly simple once I realised what was going on.
  12. I was actually pretty disappointed at the end of both these questlines, macrobinculars and the seeker droids. Hours solo , which although I admit probably isnt for everyone, I enjoyed , then as you get to the end of the stories you suddenly have to stop and wait around for ever for a group. I havent even been able to attempt the final quests yet , never found a group , so I just moved on to my next character doing the makeb stuff, given what I know now, I'll probably not even start the two quest lines again, given I already know it will be difficult to finish it. I enjoy group content, but in its correct place. The final part of a solo story , and a very long one that lots wont bother with, isnt it.
  13. The only jarring thing about this and the macrobinocular quest line is its all solo travelling around stuff for endless planets, which I've actually enjoyed o be honest, and then it spits you out into a heroic 4 on both. Nothing wrong with group quests, but they just dont fit in with whats gone before, I think they should have had the end of the quests solo to match the rest with the heroics as side quests.
  14. be thankful for your mod. Last night on hoth I got the 'your probe has found something special' thing, and low and behold, a green repair kit for a bit of reputation. I'd already pulled two of those out without the fanfare.
  15. I havent done anything like that myself, but I would guess you have to go back to the npc on makeb that sent you to dromund kass in the first place. From memory its at one of the mining rig towers.
  16. I'm British. I just fancied a Goulash.
  17. I want a signed pair of Mark Hamill's socks, a boba fett helmet from empire, and george lucas to come to my house, apologise for selling to disney (because thats obviously the reason this is happening after all, it was on t'internet) , and for him to make me a goulash for my dinner. Its not asking a lot, the servers have been down for like two hours. I'll be telling my kids this sorry tale, and when they ridicule me, I'll have the answer right there. 'you dont know man, you werent there'
  18. Its simpler than that. Most people will ding 50 somewhere on Voss these days, they then have half of voss and all of corellia, plus Ilum and Belsavis quests to accumulate more planetary comms. By the time a toon levelling from scratch now gets to makeb, they will likely be 52 ish and have all 58 (I think they are) mods from the makeb comms vendor.
  19. Its the opposite I think. Makeb is designed for people coming off the final class missions and planet missions on Corelia, where they will likely now be 51/52 and have a stack of planet comms as well, most people these days seem to ding 50 somewhere on Voss , now they will carry on through corelia and makeb to 55. The first run through for existing 50's is highlighting some imbalance, but fo rthose that follow it will likely be a much easier run. With the double xp weekends I hit 50 before voss on my most recent toon, I have 2 and a half planets plus hoth bonus to go through before makeb there.
  20. Early access is a good policy. Not just to get early pre orders in so they can gauge marketing strategy , but because it gets a staggered launch. I mentioned in general chat last night, the one lesson I've taken from makeb in the 6 hours or so I've been there on my first toon is this. I wont be going there next week with any other toon, I'll do afew dailies and build up some xp so they are perhaps 51 when I start taking all my alts through it in a couple of weeks, I mentioned it in general and a fair few others were planning the same. The lag is bad now with 20+ instances , it will be worse when its opened up to the rest. If it was just one single mad rush of everyone, it would be unplayable.
  21. The bit in the tunnels where the tentacles are is probably the worst for it, or the walkways , but I've found camouflage works well enough to avoid enough of them that it doesnt become annoying.
  22. The armorings, mods and weapon hilts/barrels you can buy with planet comms (even ones you got on tython or korriban) from the makeb planet comms vendor are as good as tionese minus the often useless bonuses amyway. Tionese is gone, but the route to higher end gear is now actually easier overall.
  23. I'm doing it in Tionese with my companion in recruit gear. No problems at all so far
  24. I'm enjoying it. The start of the quest (via your holoterm on your ship) is a nice touch, much better than just going to some carbon copy npc with a traingle of its head , the nice cut scenes set you up for the story that follows. Ive only done the first couple of quest areas so far, and am a bit below level 52 , but the story is excellent, I like the inclusion of a daily in each area, and I liek the challenge level. Just to be clear, I'm doing this on a marauder in Tionese gear with Vette in Recruit MK2 PvP gear, I havent had any trouble , but its not facerolling easy which just becomes tedious, you still have to think a bit against level 52/3 golds with adds. Looking forward to the rest of the story and trying the other side of the story on my gunslinger.
