  1. Does your replacement have any MMO experience at all?
  2. Gearing is what you do to play the game, not what the game is. Think about that, then tell me again why gearing up quickly is a problem.
  3. Has anyone given any thought to the implications of additional gear tiers being added on? I have. there are 2 options. The 1st is additional CXP levels on top of 300. This means that if you have an alt, or a new player hitting 70, you need to do 300 CXP levels BEFORE you start getting content appropriate gear, given that new content will be tailored to the latest tier. The second option means resetting CXP levels so that tier one introduces the 1st tier of the new gear and so on, so new 70's begin with the level 242 or whatever it happens to be. In which case, grinding to get to 300 right now will simply mean nothing and you start all over again. Probably sooner than you think. The players cannot win with this system whatever is chosen, but to highlight just how poor the design is, the devs cannot win either, they are guaranteed to lose subs through aliening players, whichever option is taken.
  4. Aside from my annoyance at A) not addressing the actual problem and B) including paid for boosts in all calculations to make it seem better than it is when talking to people already paying monthly to play I just want everyone to look at the above. Then remember - GC is supposed to be a simplified system because crystals were too complicated. It has become a farce.
  5. Sorry, this does nothing to fix the underlying problem. If you can go 40+ boxes opened with no useful pieces, as many of us have, whether those boxes come in 10 or 5 hours makes no difference. It still sucks either way and actively discourages people from playing. Also, please remember that you are talking to SUBSCRIBERS that pay a monthly fee. Including additional paid boosts in all your calculations as if we are expected to pay even more every month to fix your problem is downright insulting. I'm not an idiot, don't try and take me for one. In fact, that attitude of implicit deceit is worse than the system itself.
  6. Its probably aimed at solo players looking for a challenge, like me. But given with rng at the rate its going it would be about a year down the line before I have the gear to do it, I would call the thing a fail. Not the idea of master level, but like everything else, the reality is crippled by poor decisions from the design team elsewhere. Like gearing.
  7. Would it not have been prudent, never mind professional, to have thought of this before inflicting it on paying customers. And even then, do you really think waiting near on 3 months after inflicting it on paying customers to do anything about it is good customer service? It is not as if you don't know whats coming out of these crates. You guys created the loot table assigned to them.
  8. I never said there had been. I just pointed out that nothing has been said about drop rates, at all. Therefore, telling people that drop rates will double is wrong. We do not know how drop rates are affected until people get their hands on the new system. I am inventing nothing, merely asking you to stop doing so. We do no know what the drops will be like, that is all you need to say, because it is all we can say with the information available.
  9. Only if drop rates remain constant. Given we do not know this, then as i said, stop presenting speculation as reality, misinformation leads to disappointment when not met. Are there not enough disappointed people already on this forum?
  10. It would helpful if you stopped inventing things. He has not mentioned drop rates, merely the frequency of awarding a box. We have no idea if the drop rate per box is staying the same, falling or rising. Just that boxes will apparently come more frequently. Stop pretending speculation is reality.
  11. Create an 'event' that rewards people for creating 8 alts (not even counting the other 16 most long term players had at a minimum just to see all the stories and advanced classes). Then, on the very day that event ends, instigate a system that actively punishes you for playing more than one toon 2 months later, tell me that in another 2 months, you might have a plan to do something about it. And that is why I have cancelled my sub after being here from early access. Here is a hint, rng boxes will impede progress even if we are given a box a minute. They are the core problem, and any fix that does not remove them will not help stop the sub number freefall that is patently going on right now.
  12. If there is one thing you can rely on with this dev team, is that if they make a change, it will be worse than it was before. Making changes to things that work? No problem, meanwhile, no hood toggle, random explosions on your ship, companions lagging behind like a toddler having a tantrum all remain.
  13. I have just unsubbed, been here since early access. I was also the 335th person to create a forum account when the original forums launched, check my user ID(200+ of those before me were bioware themselves). I've enjoyed playing the game, although my friends all moved on during the original rng gearing fiasco that led to the cartel market and f2p model being brought in, and have played mostly solo since. Now there is just no way for me to gear all my toons, all those alts that the game, through the multiple stories and even DvL that rewarded me for having alts and lets not forget was live until the very day the introduced this new gearing. With group content largely irrelevant to me and no way to play all my toons effectively ( I manged 26 GC levels with no set pieces before giving up, its not worth the trouble) and no suitable answer on the stream I just cancelled. The very worst thing about this design, from bioware's perspective, is that they made me focus on the fact that I was expected to grind content I have been doing for 5 years to gain CXP to gear my toon today. In the case of Dromund Kaas heroics, I literally played them with the exact same toon the first day of early access at launch, 5 years ago. Gear is not the content, gear is a necessity for doing content, especially master level solo stuff. If I cant gear for master level single player content, then what is the point in paying for that single player content. I will not be playing f2p, I am just leaving. Edit: Forgot costs. 5 years and a bit at £8.99 a month, is £550 or so, I would guess I have spent another £100 at most on cartel coins, and I have a collectors edition game.
  14. It appears to be 'Days of the eternal grind for CXP'
  15. How on earth can you create a system designed to take as long as possible and then be surprised that people cant level alts? You know exactly how long it is taking the majority of casual players to acquire crates, the idea that you could not grasp that they wouldn't be able to level more than one toon is risible. Bad design annoys me as a customer, but you know what makes me angry. being lied to.
  16. As you only round down, 15% increase to 2xp for golds is still 2. Heroics, the main solo content, is still boned. And now, to replace a system of three different crystals because it was too complicated, we have tokens, assembled and unassembled pieces. two different boosts plus a need to combine at least two elements to get a reward. Do you guys actually listen to yourselves at any point?
  17. I have't logged into the game yet this year, after playing since launch. My problem? I have a lot of alts, after all my friends left in the first random loot purge, I've been playing mostly solo, so that has been my content. Trying out all the stories, different play styles. I actually liked DvL because it added rewards for doing the things I do anyway. But, on the day of the patch for 5.0, I played in the morning, finishing off one last alt as encouraged. Then I logged in after the patch, and now if i do anything but play one toon exclusively to gain command xp, I am reducing my chance of having new gear. Then I look at the levels I have (26 boxes opened, no purple gear of any kind and nothing much better than the 228 gear I've crafted), and realise that it simply is pointless. I don't get command levels fast enough on a single toon, never mind 4 or 5 that I like to play a lot. On top of that, when I do ding a level, I rarely get anything worth keeping for it. That does not encourage me to play. Now with master level solo coming, it turns out I need better gear to do the content my sub is paying for, even as a solo, casual player. But I have no real way of getting it. So well done Bioware. My sub payment goes at the end of the month, and I'm deciding how many more I will pay when I am not playing. I don't think its worth it any more, things need to change.
  18. I still do not understand why they pushed the level up to 70 for this. If you work through the story, 65 is probably about the level you get to it, they have level sync to deal with people over that. It would then be level appropriate content dropping level appropriate gear. Now its over level for ist place in the story dropping gear that is not good enough to use to complete the thing in the first place.
  19. Dyes and shells. There are other things, It's much easier to get around now as well, although I think new players miss out on some cool stuff by having speeders so early and all planet travel locations unlocked from the moment you land, its better when you have already seen everything a few times.
  20. There has been much discussion about the new gearing system, I've posted in plenty of threads myself (after barely posting at all in the previous 5 years of the game), and for me as a casual player there are two main issues, the RNG way of rewarding a level ding, which starts out as disappointing and then becomes annoying. Annoying enough for me to stop looking for cxp and just level my toons to 70 and park them. The other is the length of the grind itself. If we ignore the RNG reward system for the nonsense that it is, one that they will eventually u-turn on just like the did before, and look at the grind, for me, the long way to go is not really the issue. It is doing the same content I have been doing for years to get that xp. I have 26 levels of cxp across a few toons, and as a solo player heroics and dailies through the galactic command interface (which is very good itself) is my main source of progression. But what does that mean in reality? It means that at level 70, my best way of progressing is by doing stuff I first did on the day this game launched 5 years ago (Dromund Kaas heroics). And I have to do them a lot to get anywhere. Now, over the years I have done daily missions endlessly to get my tokens for gear, I don't care about best stuff, but getting 208/216 by doing these missions was fine for me (and 156 or 180 stuff before it). Because the time per toon was relatively short, it didn't bother me that it was old content, there was something I could work towards. I've been thinking about the changes now, and why it bothers me so much, and I think the fact its old content is becoming an issue because the end is nowhere to be seen, not only to get to higher levels of galactic command, but of getting anything worthwhile from boxes at all. Had this expansion brought in some new daily content areas on the new planets, I doubt that I would have been as annoyed about CXP as I am, likewise had I been able to plan a route to get gear using the old content, I would have been fine as I always have been, It is the combination of endless grind and no new content that is really making the game unplayable for me. No new content, long grind. Devs, don't stack them, pick one or the other.
  21. I have played since launch, I have NEVER had BIS gear, after the early exodus (with RNG gearing playing a role in that for those that remember, obviously the devs do not) when my friends left, I have been playing mostly solo. Not having the best gear does not bother me, for instance, before the launch of this latest expansion my main Juggernaut had all 216 gear with a 220 offhand, the rest of my toons were mainly in 208 with some 216 here and there. That is fine, I didn't need more than that for the solo story and content. This new RNG gearing is still bad for me, 26 boxes and nothing to show for it but more empty shells and some jawa junk. That is worse than frustrating, its annoying. Each open box with reputation tokens and an orange shell is an insult, not an incentive, just a reminder that the devs do not care how bad this experience is for me. And the kicker? I'm doing heroics to get that stuff, Dromund Kaas Heroics. I first did that content on launch day 5 years ago. And I'm expected to do it again endlessly now to have a chance to progress my toon? Its lazy design, and a middle fingered salute to players who like me have been here all along, paying their wages.
  22. I've given up. 26 opened boxes and nothing of note but soem jawa scrap, orange shells and a few green items mostly with odd stats on them, and of course weapons I can't use on this toon, its just not for me. So I've been levelling my alts to 70 and making myself 228 stuff with my crafters. Now my choice is whether to stay subbed or not this month, what this system has really done is made the game feel disappointing to me. I've been on the forum since the day it launched, was an early access player of the game, been here all through the journey. My friends left long ago and i play mostly alone, but now the need to grind content I did on launch day (literally with dromund kaas heroics) to gain the chance to open a box that may have some new gear in it, but in my experience, most likely won't, has just annoyed me to the point I question why I am subbed at all. Great job bioware!
  23. This has been by far my biggest criticism too. And don't forget, in the UK and Europe, we actually had both systems live on the same day. Morning before the patch - create more alts to complete dark v light event! Afternoon after patch - play one toon forever else you lose out on cxp! How ANYONE in management thought this was sensible is beyond me. The fact no one, at all, in bioware noticed that this may cause a problem with players suggests they have real problems with understanding the basics of their own audience.
  24. My account started 10.21.08 (forum number 335, I joined about 3 minutes after they went live) I've finally had enough. I've stayed this long simply because of alts, I play more or less entirely alone because everyone I know left the game long, long ago, and now they have moved in a new direction that basically penalizes me for playing anything but my main toon, they have removed my reasons for staying. I think the sub I paid in December will be my last one, its just not fun any more, nor is it exciting, opening boxes and getting nothing worth keeping is simply annoying and frustrating in equal measure.
