  1. Can't say it hurts me any, but it seems a bit of a silly thing to do. Off to work now, but I did the first couple of quest hubs this morning, and I'm just under level 52 at the minute. I didnt read any spoilers, guides or anything , no spacebarring, and I'm enjoying the story as it goes along to be honest, its like the first toon after launch before you knew what all the planets looked like and where every mob was.
  2. I enjoyed it, I'm not a fan of PvP so I ignored those quests, but I did the PvE ones daily on my three 50's , did the odd heroic mission and an occasional world boss group. My current levelling toon is currently on voss in full white gree armour, which looks great, so for me it was an event I gained from and, data chip drop rate aside enjoyed.
  3. That wont be a sticking block for next gen, the ps4 is basically based on pc architecture, it would be as easy to control with a keyboard and mouse on the console as it is on the pc. With the added bonus of easier coding due to a normalised specification. I'm not suggesting swtor will appear on PS4 , or indeed the next xbox, but based on the released information, I will say the PC will not necessarily be the de facto platform for MMO's in the future.
  4. after a spell on test server, daily comms are now classic comms, and I would say they wil simply covert over so saving them would be fine. The one issue I would say needs clarifying though is caps. Classic comms have a cap of 400 , compared to the 1000 on current daily comms, so that needs looking into else people lose out on a hard cap.
  5. Not even remotely true. It gives less percentage increase on a level 55 compared to a level 50 , because the base stats of a level 55 are greater than a level 50. The cumulative effect is still greater however.
  6. You'll probably not be able to get the white armor this time, but the red and blue only need friend level, so you could perhaps end up with those in this run of the event.
  7. Yes, thats another issue, I have a powertech and a sage that need to use aoe to put out damage really, I have to confess I havent had the issues you have, but its probably more luck than judgement. As said, they shouldnt really try to put the two play types together, it simply does not work. They could have had a mission giver at the FFA entrance for just pvp missions with pvp rewards , and have the pvp bit entirely seperate. Trying to force the two together hasnt worked , ever. UO and Trammel was 20 years ago , you'd think they would have learned by now.
  8. A one eyed man could have seen this coming out of his bad eye. The problem is twofold, the first is putting anything associated with the pve part of the game in the pvp area, the two playstyles do not mix well, I mean, go back as far as Trammel on UO , its the same story, its not like the devs are in uncharted territory here, its just bad design. This is exacerbated by the expertise mechanic, meaning people geared for PvP have an inbuilt advantage over people in PvE gear going into the area to begin with. Now, I'm not saying there shouldnt be a PvP part, there should, but its rewards should be entirely seperate. A Gree expertise boost piece of equipment or some such, separate tokens to buy pvp statted weapons , but seperate the two parts of the event, because people now think they have to do all the quests, and the general is just a nightmare of endless arguments and moaning about being killed. I'm doing the event on three toons, both factions, its the same whatever one I log in on, general full of moaning, especially about same faction killing. I just do the pve quests on each toon, because I dont want any of that, I'm getting penty of reputation. A quest where people queue up to take their turn in a PvP zone is bad design, they should have seen what would happen.
  9. Honestly? I wouldnt expect any changes, at least for a while. This is for two reasons. The first is not everyone will buy the expansion. The second is , because of the first, they will still need a way for fresh 50's to progress a bit and have some solo end game. My guess is that the recent change to armour and the free set of PvE you now get at 50 has been done in preparation for the new levels, and that would be indicative of the level of gear required for level 55 content.(Ops excluded of course)
  10. Its difficult to judge, given we know so little, but I just downloaded a patch for need for speed most wanted , that added a store , and a pack of 5 extra cars in that costs £7.99 , the expansion for this is £5.99 , so its certainly not as bad as it could have been. Would i rather it were free? Of course, I'm not insane, but the price of a couple of beers isnt much, 45 - 50 takes a few days if you dont blow through it, 50-55 will probably be longer the first time, I'm assuming there will be some heroics, dailies , flashpoints and operations there too , but we will see.
  11. I think its now possible , especially if you are a subscriber. If you email your new toon a chunk of credits at the start, buy them all the xp add ons from the legacy panel, and use your free cartel coind to buy major xp boosts once you get to tatooine or thereabouts, I'd think its manageable. I have just gone from level 45 to 50 on a toon by using the major xp boosts, I didnt really know what to buy from the cartel market so got a few of them to see what effect they had. I hit Voss at 45, I did all missions on Voss , the bonus missions, and the bonus hoth missions and hit 50 before I set foot on Correlia. Thats the five biggest levels in a series of missions designed to add 2, possibly 3 levels at most. So I would say the legacy and cartel xp boosts, plus PvP, and you could level up .
  12. The bigger point is how many people are going to die repeatedly, not know why, and give up in frustration, because only about 10% of people ever check websites. Bugs happen, thats a fact of MMO's, its how the company deal with it that is the differentiator , this one is a no brainer, rollback to previous patch, fix, rearrange maintenance window . It shouldnt be left on servers , thats just all kinds of poor operation.
  13. You want to get to the fleet, and look for a commando guy mission giver. Hes the taris bonus stuff, it says level 36 , but when you get there, the missions are all level 40/41 , you will make up at least a level there.
  14. Yup. been here since day one of the original forums.
  15. They will all eventually attack. What they generally cant do once you are about 20 levels above is actually hurt you.
  16. I genuinely think its lack of people. I got in on the early launch thing for pre orders, and with the queues and whatnot, ended up on one of the extra servers they put up as the rush came, ludo kresh. It was alright at first, plenty of people around on the starter planets , probably like me, ended up there as the server with shortest queues, as I went on my way to 50, I saw less and less people on the later planets. I think what happened is it was basically sight seeing, people started there just to look at the game, and moved to servers with friends/guildies as the mass rush of launch died down. After I got to 50 on my first character, a sith marauder, I wasnt really sure what to do next, so O started a couple of new characters to see the other stories. Now, I have a couple of others at the late 30's , neither has ever been in any group at all, most of the time there are maybe 3 people on the planets I'm on, at weekends perhaps 10. Now, I'm just enjoying the stories anyway, but its quite clear to me if you are subbing to do the higher end content and get the shiny gear, you wont stick the game long on Ludo Kresh, and I dont think that server is alone . Thats the games biggest problem, over a million subs is great, they are far too spread out though, and it never feels like a busy mmo.
  17. Number 2 , the resource nodes, is a pet hate of mine, but to be fair here , its players who cause it, running off without looting the thing stops it despawning , for the sake of 1 extra second they screw everyone else following the same route.
  18. Annihilation marauder, never used quinn at any point, even once I got to Illum, always used Vette . gear yourself and your companion well, you can use whichever you want, aside from three fights, the final two class quest bosses and the avatar on Voss which is a side quest, there really isnt anything challenging on the way to 50. Once you get there, grinding gear , the only time I had to spend a bit of time figuring out the fight mechanics was Admiral Shia on Ilum.
  19. Yes, its a while since I did it, but I'm fairly sure it was the 'stare him down' option.
  20. I found that with my marauder, up to about level 25 , it felt slow going, I'm annihilation spec, but once I got there, I got some nice rage builders and more damage, and things started to make sense in the class. Once you hit around 35 , you can generate fury and rage pretty much as fast as you can use it, and apart from three fights, avatar of sel makor on voss , which is a side quest, and the final two class quest bosses, didnt find anything that gave me a hard time at all. The story is great, and although theres a lot of micromanaging your skills, much more than any other class, I do enjoy the gameplay.
  21. The retaliation one is because , despite it being off the gcd, it wont 'fire' as such until the previous animation is finished, without a combat log , its difficult to tell, but I think that it does actually register the damage when it should, then plays the animation when the previous one is finished.
  22. You can also have a much shorter cd, and no minimum range force charge. which is also an interupt. As anni spec I was able to solo this with vette at 47 , and this is the key. People think you have to have quinn to survive, you dont, what you need here is consistant dps, whilst I was kiting him, whilst I was choking him, vette kept the damage going, its challenging , on par with the corellia version of draag as the hardest fight there is on the journey to 50 in my opinion, but it is doable.
  23. I'm annihilation, soloed all the way to 50 with it. Why? I found it perfect for soloing , it has decent survivability with the self heals meaning I never needed a pocket healer throughout the game, I just used dps companion all the way. Ilum was a leap in difficulty when I got there, I have orange gear with the max purple crafted hilts and armoring , but i'm getting through it now and working the missions for my tokens. I dont PvP so have no idea how effective it is there , but for solo PvE with decent survivability and great damage output, I can thoroughly recommend it. Most of all though, its fun to play, which is the most important bit I think.
  24. Its not, they come at you one at a time unless you use an aoe. Only the apprentice guy will attack you, kill him , then move onto the old man, try and save call fo the force , medpacks etc for this fight, hes easier to kill, but this is where your health will be running low.
