There are a lot of new elements to the KOTFE expansion, from the reworked codex, new companions and companion interactions, crafting changes, gear changes, story elements all the way up to level sync and I'm just mentioning a few. I'm taking the chance to say thanks and I appreciate the development team making some of the "riskier" non vanilla type decisions such as the level sync and the increased focus on story rather than simply putting together another operation or warzone (although those are great too, especially the warzones ). This expansion is definitely the most enjoyable for me (been subscribed since early access of the original launch). I'm sure others will jump in and say they don't like it for XYZ. But I do like it and thoroughly enjoyed the story! I appreciate the level sync since it makes some of the older content a bit more relevant to some of my characters, and it gives me more flexibility to group with some friends i have that rock lower level characters with ANY of my characters. Thanks!
  2. I think the obvious thing here is we're judging only based on the unfinished story. Yes nothing changes through the first 9 chapters. What about the rest?
  3. My thought is, it maybe mutually exclusive rather than optional in their game design. However, that's complete extrapolation on my part based on what we've been shown.

  5. Not everyone will agree but I like level syncing for a few reasons: I have non-sub friends who play and I like the freedom to play any of my characters with them. I actually prefer to play content that doesn't involve me 1 shotting anything - ever. I like more of a challenge than less of one. Not that the footage of Musco on DK doing the heroic looked hard but it was directionally harder than had he been 60. I think you can reasonably reward completion for a "level 18 (60 synced)" doing a level 18 heroic rather than handing out rewards for 60's doing level 10 content. We can argue about whether the rewards are worth it but that's something different. I'm not saying this is new content - but for ME it will be more revitalized content because I now have the option to do it in a more enjoyable way - for me, on the character of my choosing. I believe it streamlines some of the other aspects of the game they are changing as well, such as gathering and crafting. There are now other reasons to be on lower level planets besides your run through on the story. Those are some of MY reasons for enjoying it. Feel free to disagree all you want, as I don't expect everyone to share my opinions.
  6. I remain skeptical of sensationalist headlines like the thread title. And while I didn't read the entire thread I think there are a number of arguments that can be made for the changes as well.
  7. I play this game on a 4k g-sync monitor with the settings maxed, the shadows slider set to 2048, and the framerate capped at 60 artificially. Subjectively, the update looks better to my eyes albeit average ram usage seems to be up by about 400-800mb. Ram usage is still way below the 6 gb threshold where it would be a problem. I have not taken before and after screenshots and I do not have a problem with items popping in or out. That is the same now as it was before on my setup.

  9. Any update on how much longer the 90% reduced CC transfer cost will last? We were told we would be given a few weeks heads up prior to it being returned to original cost.
  10. I personally like the Mad Dash/Blade Blitz ability - I think it gives BW the options to balance around an ability that will add more skill to Marauder/Sent/Guardian/Jugg play. We will now have a movement ability that allows us to dodge/resist attacks when used at the right time, do damage in a line, cover ground quickly to a specific spot of our choosing. Those are all major positives. I do agree that Marauders/Sents need for mobility is different than that of Juggs/Guardians. BW may need to adjust the ability as suggested by the OP, give the two specializations different CD's or something similar. But they now have an ability that can be tuned so that's a positive in my book. I don't see the ability being used rotationally in PVE but that depends on the damage it does and how it fits into each boss fight.
  11. I like the idea of better movement and immunity to control of CC. I'll have to test the changes myself to see if they're what we need but I think they could be positive. I also enjoy the addition of a 100% defense chance as I think it adds skill to the use of the ability. I do wish there was a open beta but as others have pointed out these are the final changes prior to release of 4.0 so what's the point of a beta.

  14. KoTFE is for subs - if they change the "fleet" location there could be a disconnect between subs location and F2P locations. I think that would be undesirable - however, I don't enjoy being on the fleet much either.
  15. Necro'd this a bit but finally got around to adding mine up. Been playing since early access. 78 days 3 hrs or 1875 hrs.
  16. agreed - i'm not surprised by the blog and I'm excited by the changes to the existing content. I was never big into operations in the first place though. I could see how people who only play this game for operations would be butt hurt. Although - i would say that this game isn't great for people who are really into operations style end game progression. Sure swtor has that but it doesn't hang it's hat on it.
  17. I'm cool with no new operations - i've run 3 in total and i'm a subscriber since day 0. I like the changes they are making to the way loot works and the bolstering though so you get something "valuable" as well as don't over - level the content.
  18. There were 43 people on republic side fleet about 10pm CST last night - 1 instance. Empire side had 109. I switched over to some toons on The Harbinger and there were 3 instances of 160ish on Pub side. Same time CST.
