  1. There was a combat log in beta... a working one. They removed it. We'll see damage meters/combat log/parsing as soon as Bioware is pretty confident in their balancing act. I'm almost positive that's why we don't have them All the Pure DPS classes would be up in a riot when they discovered that my Powertech Pyrotech DPS does almost double their PvE DPS because of a certain proc mechanic and 90% armor pen to given proc. (I've compared boss-fight videos of my powertech, a sniper, and a marauder.. all in rakata, my powertech easily does double the damage) I'm sure there's many many many more examples like this across the game.
  2. If you honestly think Rakata is that large of an upgrade over battlemaster, large enough to 'wreck people', you seriously need to go actually look at the gear. It's really not even that large of an upgrade over Champion. Don't get me wrong, it's an upgrade, and it's actually a very big one for PvE damage. But it's not that 'large' of an upgrade when you factor in expertise on the other player.
  3. I feel these changes makes it entirely too easy to gear up WIth the old system some people got lucky, sure.. THat's how MMOs work. But this system? Everyone will be in full champion in 2 months max. PvP is something that takes no organization, no real time commitment (You can leave at any time, unlike raiding), to time management (again, you don't have to slot 4 hours of your day, you can leave at any time), no socialization... basically you can do it ALL solo and very quickly. And now people are going to have full sets of Champion gear (which isn't that far off from my Rakata, PvE wise) with about 10% of the effort? PRetty freaking lame if you ask me. I really feel Bioware needs to add a PvE modifier on Expertise. It should decrease the damage done to Non-players by the same amount it increases it to players. That would keep the gear good for PvP.. That way, people in PvP gear actually have to work their way up the chain of gear in PvE.. instead of being raid-viable in Champion gear.. they should have to grind out gear like every other PvE focused player. You want two seperate play-styles, let's keep them seperate. This is what PvPers hate, right? When someone decked out in PvE gear comes and lays waste to a warzone. They hate that and did everything in their power to prevent it; Well, I don't want PvP geared players coming into my PvE content being able to do everything just fine in PvP gear, which is currently the case. Why do people in PvP gear get to be effective in both PvP AND PvE, yet people in PvE gear are only allowed to be effective in one aspect of the game? This is not what you call balance. (and yes, I understand PvE gear is slightly more effective in PvE.. but here's the issue.. PvE gear is TOTALLY UNEFFECTIVE in PvP, unless you run the right mix/match with expertise.. either way, you need expertise) Right now, a PvE oriented player is forced to grind out a PvP set if he wants to PvP, and a PvE set if he wants to PvE... a PvP player simply grinds out his Champion/Battlemaster set, and does any PvE content he wants with the same gear.
  4. You are so totally wrong it isn't even funny. The classes ARE mirrors. The abilities do the exact same damage on the exact same cast time. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE ANIMATION AND WHEN THAT DAMAGE IS APPLIED, which is tied to the animation. Yes, there have been mishaps (Repub. smuggler 90s CD flashbang, empire 60s, but fixed) but for the most part, every single ability is an exact mirror of the other damage and cast time wise. Again, the only difference is the animation. If you're going to sit there and tell me Project does less damage than Shock with two equally geared players, I'm going to laugh. Now... I DO agree that Damage Meters and Combat Log parsing is NOT in the game because of gross imbalance across the classes. I have a feeling some classes do way way way more damage in PvE than others, and that Bioware is aware of this and doesn't want it getting out to the masses.
  5. I really hope they DO NOT CHANGE IT I grouped with 3 other people all the way to 50. Every quest, every flash point, everything. I'm almost Social 6... I love my Party Time title. I love my Party Instigator. I love the fact that 98% of my server does NOT have them. Please don't change this. Keep social points difficult to get.
  6. I highly doubt that. When I'm going 1 on 1 duels.. I always use IGC.. even though I'm pyro spec'd. In IGC, using IM to proc flame effect... pop adrenal/trinket and explosive fuel (25% crit for 15 seconds) TD 3.2k -> railshot 4.3-5.1k -> rocket punch 2.2k (armored target) -> flame burst 2.3k (Unmitigated elemental) And if either the rocket punch of flame burst proc another railshot (which they more than likely will, 45% and 30% chance) there goes another 4.2k-5k railshot. I've never seen a single person able to live through me popping my Biochem adrenal/trinket and explosive fuel. I might be squishy.. but every 3 minutes, whoever I pick out on the battlefield IS GOING TO DIE, there's nothing you or anyone else can do about it. They ARE goning to die. If they manage to escape my dots are ticking for 1500, grapple... If they try to attack me, I'm sitting at 52% mitigation from armor, 5% base mitigation, etc... always have a shield I can pop for another 25% mitigation.. No real reason NOT to run in IGC Never seen anyone last more than 5 GCDs with everything up I use a mix of Rakata/Columi with expertise pieces thrown in to get to 7%, the rest is ALL PvE gear because the increase in power is better than the increase you get using expertise.
  7. If they nerf Pyrotech DPS it's going to have rather large PvE impacts. Pyrotech Powertechs currently do some of the best PvE dps in the game, and I like my raid spot as top damange dealer, thank you. If they nerf PT I will simply play my 50 sorc and further compound the problem... (I say this becuase I kill my mob on EV council a good 5-6 seconds before our sniper, which does uber DPS)
  8. I believe the 15% to crit and 8% damage to railshot are pretty much equal when it comes to overall damage, maybe a SLIGHT lead going to the crit with high enough surge (at 100% surge, 1% crit would be a 1% increase in damage, so with 80% surge, maybe 11%? Not a math whiz here) but you also waste the entire 2pc bonus...
  9. So basically what you're saying is you wanted EZ-mode instead of sticking with it? You, my friend, are the reason there's a problem. Things would eventually balance out if people would stop switching. You don't need 500 people online on your faction for the game to be playable. You have quick non-huttball PvP ques... It just seems to me like you want everything handed to you, instead of working for them. Want a group? Spam for awhile and put one together.. want to complete illum dailies? Get some friends together and go roll stragglers. YOU are the problem, not simply contributing to it.
  10. So, what you're saying is that lazy people need a way to quickly get into PvE content so they can faceroll it and get gear? It's not that hard to find a guild with a raid schedule that suits you. We don't need 'automatic que'ing" for Raids or Operations. PvE content is very accessible. It just takes time and effort, and a little know-how and execution. To get PvP gear all you simply have to do is que and hope your team wins x 100. Or you go to illum and follow a group of 30 other people until you have the required kills to get your bag. Obviously, the PvP route is much MUCH easier. You don't have to organize a group of people. You don't have to communicate with raid people. You don't need to do anything social, really... which is the entire point of an MMO. Let me put it this way, I PvE.. that's my thing.. but I currently also have a FULL SET of champion gear that took me two weeks to get after I hit 50.. .TWO WEEKS. What did I have to do to get this full set of armor? I simply had to que for warzone after warzone.. I did it all solo, no pre-mades etc. That really isn't 'skill'. It's not about PvP being attractive.. it's about people choosing the easiest/quickest way to get gear. If there was a PvE activity that rewarded you with a bag with a random chance for gear that only required yourself and 15 minutes, you'd BET YOUR *** everyone would be wearing full-sets of whatever was offered; Because it's all about being lazy. People simply want the route which will get them gear the quickest, with the least amount of effort. You can effectively get geared in full champion without doing a single thing to help your team win; Sure, it'll take a much much longer time.. but it can still be done. The same really can't be said for PvE, unless the raid is allowing someone to be carried.
  11. I do know that the Bounty Hunter receives a legendary (Deep purple in color) moddable gun from A class quest. What people say is that it was the very first moddable item in the game, so they let it keep the deep purple 'legendary' color as a sort of tribute. Pretty cool, people always ask where I got it. Too bad it was soon replaced with Early Retirement
  12. ??? Powertechs? Heh You haven't seen a geared Pyrotech powertech yet have you? I don't use any of my 'aoe' (DFA and flame spin) PVPing... and I regularly get 300-400k on huttball 450k+ on voidstar All of this damage comes mainly from Thermal Detonator (3.3-4.5k on crit), Railshot (4.2-5.5k on crit) Flame Burst (2.1-2.5k on crit) and rocket punch (2.2-2.8k crit) People really underestimate the damage potential of a pyrotech powertech... I can melt battlemasters in seconds if I get a lucky proc... best part is we have one of the best DPS/burst DPS cooldowns in the game; Explosive fuel. Gives us 25% increased crit change on an alreayd 35% chance. Basically every 1min45s I can blow someone up, and there's not much they can do about it. TD 4k crit -> Railshot 4.5-5k crit (90% armor pen) -> Flame burst crits for 2.1-2.5k all elemental all unmitigated.. all the while elemental unmitigated dots are ticking for about 600-800 a tick.. but wait they are critting at an insane rate (38% base crit on fire effects + 25% from fuel) so they are actually ticking for 1.5k each It's very very easy for a Pyrotech powertech to get very high damage numbers... trust me. I'm actually a firm believer that we're one of the highest DPS classes when it comes to end-game raid DPS. Judging based on the EV council fight and a couple of worldboss tests with friends, I'm starting to think I'm right.. The core of it is that a good majority of our damage is completely unmitigated.
  13. Okay I'll bite How is an assassin getting the healing medals when they took out the ability of medpacks giving you medals... exploits or what?
  14. Never had a problem with them..I nuke them in 4-5GCDs just like any other class. Then again, maybe that's because almost all of my attacks are unmitigated by armor... and I do insane damage... Pop my biochem adrenal and trinket...explosive fuel.. puts me at +1200 power and 56.7% crit TD -> IM -> 4.5k-5.2k railshot followed by TD exploding for 4k followed by either flame burst for 2.3k or rocket punch for 3k and if proc followed by ANOTHER 4.5->5.5k railshot..and this is all while DoTs are rolling mind you (IM dot for 1866 over 18 secs and CGC dot that ticks for 800-1.5k depending on crits but high crit rate; all elemental unmitigated damage) Pyrotech PTs are awesome merc killers. Railshot has 90% armor pen. Flame Burst and ALL of your dots are elemental (and your dots tick for 800-1.5k depending on power level.. crit for even more).. and you proc a LOT of railshots... with 90% armor pen they just melt. They are no problem. If they do happen to survive my initial burst (guard or heals or whatever) I can usually just kill them spamming flame burst fishing for procs because it actually scales pretty well.. doesn't do the best damage but it's ELEMENTAL damage which means unmitigated and it also keeps your dot up,, 2.2k-2.5k a crit and a 39% base crit rate because of talents.. then your dot ticks again for 800-1.5k depending on crits.. also a 39% crit rate) Then again, no class is really a problem at the moment for me... I seem to just melt them like butter. Pyrotech Powertech... the best part is if I have a healer that's healing me, I can switch to IGC and just use IM for my 'flame' effect and still have guard up AND 51% mitigation from armor.. all I lose is the damage from CGC dot and the proc flame effect that I can provide myself with little loss because of thermal sensor override.
  15. I'd like to note that i'm a 50 powertech who raids as Pyrotech (We do lolol raid DPS) it's really RNG based... sometimes we can dish a lot of damage very quckly, but sometimes we can't and we're screwed heat wise. And please don't think we have any survivability just because of 'heavy armor'. Sorcs have WAY more survivability than a pyrotech powertech. Seriously, powertech is probably the LAST class that needs a nerf right now.

    Sorcs in PvP

We're going to have an even bigger problem when all the people rerolling sorc hit 50. Check this out; 6 out of 18 guild members all have practically main switched to sorc... they barely play their old mains anymore. The two friends I play with started levelling sorcs... they are having so much fun they never play their mains anymore. I decided to see what was up.. so I started a sorc... holy crap this class is awesome; I hardly play my main anymore. Just wait. Mark my words. When there's an alpha class expect everyone to flock to it.
  17. There really is no set 'rotation' for pyrotech because the spec relies heavily on PPA procs for damage and heat management. You adjust your rotation to fit within your current heat signature etc.. usually it's something like TSO -> IM (I always use TSO on IM) -> Railshot -> Flame Burst Now here's where it gets tricky.. now you're going to have to use IF THEN statements IF PPA procs THEN Railshot if NO PPA Proc Rocket punch IF rocket punch PPA proc railshot if no PPA proc, flameburst again until RP is back up or until it's time to start weaving rapid shots in for heat management. See, it's very variable. Basically the goal is to maximize PPA procs because they manage your heat as well as do amazing damage. You can't let yourself go over 40 heat though, because regen goes to ****; so you do have to weave in rapid shots depending on the amount of procs you get.. sometimes you're lucky and can string procs.. if that's the case your heat is really not much of an issue. For burn phases I use explosive fuel combined with trinket/adrenal (gets the most out of explosive fuel), as well as using THermal Detonator on cooldown (it's really good damage/heat, problem is that it really screws up heat management for ppa fishing if you use it allll the time.. end up having to rapid shot more which means less chance to proc railshots which means less heat vented etc) If there's no 'burn' phase for a given boss fight I will start the fight getting up to about 60-70 heat and blow vent heat from the start, usually with a fuel/trinket/adrenal.. because more than likely they will all be back up again for second use if you use early.
  18. Did you seriously take all the accuracy out of your gear and replace it with crit/surge? Yes, the itemization on the combat tech set stinks.. and requires some tweaking.. but you can't totally negate accuracy. Rail shot is our big damage attack, and it's a weapon damage attack. It's also our only method of venting heat besides long CDs. A dodged/deflected railshot will totally eclipse ANY damage gains you get from stacking crit/surge. On top of that, it will screw your heat management. You need SOME accuracy. I'm not quite sure what is perfectly optimal in relation to other stats, but if you're doing raid DPS you need at least some accuracy. Remember, crit and surge ratings suffer from diminishing returns. Stacking them is actually counter-productive. You want a good balance.. and when you start to hit DRs on your ratings, you want to stack power. The 8% damage bonus to railshot that combat tech provides is an excellent set bonus. It gives more damage to railshot than 100+ power would, easily. The 15% crit to railshot is also a very nice bonus; but IMO you lose too much. We can't really say for sure without parses, but for SUSTAINED PvE Raid DPS...I firmly believe the combat tech to be better once outfitted with proper itemized 56 mods/enhancements. PvP? Eliminator.. the 15% crit is jelly for burst, and the expertise makes it a no brainer.
  19. I had to switch to DPS because raids only need two tanks... Holy crap, I had no idea I'm almost to the point where I firmly believe Pyrotech Powertechs do the absolute most PvE DPS in the game... The council fight in ev? My mob dies a good 4-5 seconds behind our sniper.. and he does a *********** lot of DPS. Honestly, it's so good that I think it's almost broken. A good majority of our attacks aren't mitigated by armor (elemental, dots) on top of that, we get 90% armor pen. to a VERY HIGH damage attack that procs constantly for FREE. Add that armor pen on top of jug/merc armor debuff and you're practically railshotting a 0 armor target.. Seriously, we do a metric ****load of DPS. Honestly, the class as DPS reminds me a *LOT* of Fury Warriors from WoW.. constantly getting aggro with no threat dump and dying. With guard, you can seriously **** some **** up ( I *still* get aggro in guard if I go all out with trinkets/adrenals/fuel)
  20. Eh? Power has no DR... so it really is the best.. but you need your crit/surge at certain levels if you're going for PVP burst and not sustained pve damage. What is with people stacking crit? Your crit should be nowhere near 39%.. if it is, you are WASTING a lot of stats because of diminishing returns. The DPS gains you are getting from the increase in crit are far below what you would gain from going with power.. use a spreadsheet and see for yourself. Crit has a very low stat weight for pyro powertechs. Right now my Pyro powertech is sitting at 31.5% tech crit, 25% ranged crit 89% Critical Multiplier 412 Power Damage stats are: Tech: 674 Bonus Damage Ranged: 386 Bonus Damage Tooltips: Railshot: 1568-1896 base TD: 1937-1993 base FB: 895-961 base ACCURACY IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR PYROTECHS FOR PVE DAMAGE, remember this. Not only is it important because railshot is one of our main sources of damage.. it's also important because if you have a railshot dodged/deflected you totally **** yourself on heat.. even from the free ones (Because you don't vent 8 heat)... again accuracy is very, very important.. I'm still trying to figure out where it sits in relation to other stats.. and how much you should sacrifice to get it.. but it's very important! After 100% accuracy it simply reduces the target defense (not armor, that's a myth).. Defense is basically miss.. it's labled as dodged/deflect depending on the class. Railshot is a weapon damage attack so it uses ranged accuracy. The initial hit roll is accuracy vs defense, so any accuracy over 100 simply reduces the defense # of that roll. Accuracy rating is at about 256 right now.
  21. You wouldn't happen to be on Comcast Cable would you? The recurring theme with latency issues today (I've been having them all day ion Mandalore the Indomitable.. 500-700ms constant when it used to be 30ms) is comcast cable or time warner.
  22. By chance does everyone posting in this thread use Comcast for their internet provider? My guild mates aren't having the problem; and none of them use comcast. Maybe it's comcast?
  23. It's been going on for hours now 600ms standard peaks 1200 from time to time the game is virtually unplayable because of ability delay + lag is major major BAD in this game (you straight up miss entire GCDs) What the heck bioware FIX PLEASE
  24. The latency on Mandalore the Indomitable has been crazy the last 4 hours. 500-600 ms for west coast players on a west coast server. What is going on?
  25. Yep. I've found the most effective use of Vent Heat is during burn phases and I use it when I have 50-60 heat. This resets it back down to practically 0 after the GCD and I can continue on from there, but managing heat. WHen there's no burn phases in sight I use it as part of my variable rotation on cooldown to increase the rate at which I can use abilities for a given period.
