Option to turn OFF Smart Camrea / Auto Center
Putok replied to Saelyth's topic in General Discussion
/signing yet another one of these threads. This is such an incredibly basic feature, it boggles the mind that it was left out. It's honestly on par with /roll in terms of /facepalm induction. -
Freedom of speech does not exist in game, or on these forums. You have to agree to a TOS to play/chat/post, and the TOS limits your speech.

I have general chat turned off because it's an absolute cesspool.

965BE @ 3.7ghz, no issues, and rarely more than 25% CPU utilization.

Every single player of competence that I know personally has experienced the delay issue, so I have a difficult time believing that it isn't universal. I have no doubts that the severity of the issue varies, I've seen that myself, but I have an extraordinarily difficult time believe that anyone experiences combat as fluid or responsive as WoW, with no delay, no stuttering, failure to respond, casting bar/GCD errors, etc. As for the other stuff, he admitted that he was wrong, so I don't see why you need to dwell on it.

Damage Meters/Mods vs No Damage Meters/Mods - A Solution
Putok replied to Frostvein's topic in Suggestion Box
Just make them optional, like they are in every other game. -
Lol, great minds? WoW started the whole, "Good gear is only BoP from raid bosses." thing, and I don't know that it was good. I've raided both hardcore and casual since vanilla, I don't hate raiding, but I also enjoyed the way gear worked in DAoC. I understand the idea of people objecting to some random vendor learned recipe with easy to get mats being better than something dropped by a boss they wiped on for three weeks trying to learn. I also don't see why an item with hard to obtain mats, that took 100 man hours and half a million in mats worth of REs to learn should be worse than something dropped from a boss that a random collection of people could probably PUG. If I spend a week crafting non stop to learn a recipe, and another two days to gather the mats, why should the item be any worse than something from a relevant non-nightmare raid, and why should it be BOP?

Why is that bad?

I respectfully disagree. I grant you my memory might be off, and it might not have been as bad as SWTOR prior to this recent patch, but I do remember thinking it was very clunky compared to WoW, especially as a DPSer. I actually seem to remember healing being significantly better than it currently is in TOR, to be 100% fair. The performance issues annoyed me more than the clunkyness. The story and feel of the world was what eventually turned me off of the game, but it really was a pretty good game. Just not for me. It might have been less buggy than SWTOR, but the performance issues definitely made it less smooth for me personally.

Did you play Rift at launch? My FPS was often below 20, no matter WHAT I had the graphics set to playing on a machine that ran Crysis on max settings at 60FPS. Combat was even clunkier than in this game before the previous patch. It did launch with a much better feature set, but the client was an absolute mess. The performance issues are a part of why I stopped playing that game.

If cost is no object: http://www.falcon-nw.com/laptops/tlx They'll make it any color you want. Puget Systems: http://www.pugetsystems.com/nav/traverse/pro/customize.php?sys_id=61 is another good high end builder.

DONT screw up the other parts of the game for pvp.
Putok replied to Enako's topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure why not dev has embraced the obvious solution: Different ability mechanics in PvE vs PvP. If an ability is overpowered in PvP, make it less powerful as soon as someone zones into a PvP area. No need to over-complicate things by nerfing useful PvE abilities for the sake of PvP, and then having to come up with inelegant counter-nerfs to balance it out. -
Do you support a Mac OS X client in Star Wars the Old Republic?

Ahh, gotchya. What's the advantage of one of those over a laptop and separate display? Cheaper? -

Why not? Only one SATA port on the mobo? Weird shaped case that doesn't have room? Not being a smart ***, I honestly don't know. -
It's not apparently with all abilities on all characters. I have almost no issues on my assassin, minor issues on my sorc, moderate issues on my sniper, and major issues on my warrior. Ability delay is improved since the last patch, though still present under certain circumstances. "Stutter" bugs are what really annoy me on the warrior though. I don't really notice them if I'm playing slow/clicking, but if I actually try to play the character to its potential, it can get frustrating at times.

This issue I have with them is that I have to spend an extra 20 seconds doing Clouds a second time to get they daily bonus. On every other mission, they're basic, "Grats on 50, here's an extra 3k on most missions you run."

Why not just get a second hard drive? You can get a pretty big SATA 6GB/S HDD for a hundred bucks or so, less if you only want SATA II. Way easier than partitioning. -
Must not be much of an economy on your server. Mandalorian Iron sells QUICKLY at a 10k a pop on mine.

We're in agreement then. If it doesn't take resources away from fixing up bugs and adding in missing content, I'm all for it.
