  1. I would level to 50, you can start doing dailies and get champion comms to spend on champ set pieces (head, gloves, chest, legs, feet) as the recruit gear does not have set bonuses on them. At the very least level to 50 to do dailies to make some money to purchase the recruit gear. I would only spend excess comms on medpacs and adrenals as they will have their cost increased in 1.2 and you will want to spend comms for BM gear in 1.2.
  2. Definitely Pinball. Also the correct term for Alderaan is Civil Bore. Tower defense is a type of game that is nothing like Civil Bore.
  3. This. Seriously. People who want to stay in 1-49 just want to stomp on undergeared and/or inexperienced players, whether they admit it or not. It is not hard to gear up in PVP at 50 and it does not take long, so that is a poor excuse.
  4. So your perfect game would have one dps class, one tank class, and one healing class to eliminate any issue of the "best" of each?
  5. The sad thing is that people genuinely post with that kind of logic sometimes, so even obvious sarcasm can be misread.
  6. This is also another terrible idea, that luckily won't ever happen. Let me explain why this is a bad idea. Having only 1 healer AC would mean that AC would need to be strong in every healing category (longevity, burst, aoe, single), or PVE content would have terrible design constraints. Having all of those strengths would mean the healer AC would be OP. Unless you mean that 1 AC has mutiple healing trees. If that is the case with multiple trees, then what is the point of consolidating all of those trees on one AC, and instead spreading it to different ACs. Not to mention how boring it would be to have just one healer AC. Edit: I think I am getting trolled, if so well done.
  7. Win. Honestly, this is one of the worst threads/ideas on the PVP forum.
  8. Because this hasn't been brought up 1768 times before.
  9. Except that it is nothing like AB, because there are only 2 locations to try to attack and not 3 (in a normal competitive game). Mid gives even more of an advantage than it did in AB, since everyone is going to be spawning near mid instead of spawning in different locations. Mid gives you not only a defensive advantage by having the spawn but also full view of enemy movement. AB also had a transitional time where nobody could rez at the node and had a decent distance from the GY and the node with which to snare CC. The side speeders should have put you behind the turret with a decent flight length. This would keep defenders from having LoS of the node and require defenders to run around the turret, which would allow attackers to much more easily CC/snare you and prevent you from stopping the cap.
  10. Right now they have to manually transfer characters from live to PTS. Thus, any sort of large scale server merge is going to require a new system be built to achieve this, not to mention the naming (both character and legacy) problems that would come with it. Also, a lot of the leveling population problems were handled with the staggered launch. But without that staggered launch, you do not want too high of a server population for expansions as the linear nature of SWTOR leveling will create a logjam on the first expansion location, especially if they decide they actually want world PVP on PVP servers.
  11. I would hold on to them as 1.2 will probably go live in the next 2 weeks. They will have a 1-1 transfer to Warzone Comms in 1.2 and you will be able to buy BM gear with Warzone comms. I would buy medpacs and adrenals with any excess WZ comms you will acquire now, because the medpacs and adrenals will have their cost increased in 1.2 and won't lose their time value compare to champ gear. You will get plenty of champ bags just from dailies and weeklies with which to improve your gear.
  12. Use your CC breaker after you get white-barred (ie after a second stun/mez) and you have at least 10 seconds of immunity (usually more). Or keep playing poorly and just complain on the forums.
  13. This. Although I think they could do a battlegroup system of 3 healthy servers and you would still have a decent community with enough variation and fairly quick queue times. I honestly don't understand why they have non-ranked lvl 50 WZs at all (sub 50 can be non-ranked). It should be ranked because it will place you with players of similar skill/gear. Putting together competitive match-ups should be the goal of any matchmaking system.
  14. So you would rather have PVP be a totally skillful dps rotation fest? The only time you are ever CCd to death is against multiple opponents (or an opponent that significantly outgears you). I love it when people blow all of their CC on my operative early on and white bar me so they can't finish me sub 30% or when they white bar my commando before I have used shield. Within the context of a standard hotkey, target-based MMORPG what system would you want in place?
  15. First, Stun = total loss of control that does not break on damage. Mez = total loss of control that breaks on damage. The only time a player is stunned for 8 seconds is if the player is going up against 2 or more opponents (a PT can stun for 6.5 (7 with the set bonus) seconds). In that scenario, if he is alone he is likely going to die anyways and accomplish nothing. If he has teammates, then the teammates should taunt/heal/CC to help him. If they don't and just let him get focus fired down quickly then they are bad players and they deserve to lose the fight.
  16. This. No idea why they have kept things this way as no other ACs work on different resource amounts than one another and more flexibility in ability cost can help with balance. The other criticisms I feel are intentional weaknesses of the class.
  17. This. I like playing against people I know, it is more fun and intense than some random person. I will also single out people I know, and I know they will do the same because it is fun. Your guild will be better off without people who can't handle PVP.
  18. WoW has several stuns (kidney shot, maim, warrior stuns) which are unavoidable, and those stuns can't be removed. Every CC in SWTOR can be dispelled, it just isn't done as much because the raid frames are garbage for displaying buffs/debuffs, the debuff icons do not show the difference in classification (ie tech/force/physical/mental), healers are usually the focus of CC so can't dispel themselves, non-healer specs of ACs that can dispel usually don't do it or it is prohibitively costly (changed for BH/Troopers in 1.2), and a lot of players are bad. WoW also has 6 second stun duration (Kidney and HoJ) and 10 second mez duration, and it has several mez abilities with no CD, so even with diminishing returns you can be mezzed for 17.5 seconds on one DR category. WoW also has different DR categories, so you can be Mezzed by a polymorph (or disorient) effect for 10 seconds, and then be mezzed by a fear effect for 10 seconds, so you can be kept out of the fight for 20 seconds with just two abilities that also could be reapplied to extend the duration you are out of the fight. In SWTOR, the max would be 16 seconds (2 8 second mezes) and that would fill your resolve. WoW also has silences and disarms. Silences are about as good as CC to casters as the only thing a caster can do is move. Similarly disarms hurt melee by severely reducing the abilities available to them. WoW also has more powerful interrupts. The WoW interrupts lock out an entire school, which is particularly useful against healers. So there is a lot more CC and control in WoW, and you can be kept out of a fight for a lot longer in WoW than in SW:TOR. Only half the ACs have an instant cast, ranged stun (Trooper/BH ACs and Cons/Inq ACs). Agent/smuggler ACs have an instant cast stun, but it is a melee range ability, and War/Knight ACs do not have an instant cast stun at all. I play an Operative and a Powertech and I support the amount of CC in this game. My sweeping unsubstantiated generalization: All players who complain about the amount of CC in this game are bads who solo queue and get themselves into a lot of 2+ v 1 fights.
  19. I play an operative I know what Orbital Strike and XS Flyby is (and I know about the additional fire graphic of XS). That isn't what is being discussed. But thanks for not reading any of the previous posts.
  20. So you don't count the 30% healing debuff that is present at all times in PVP? Bioware understands, that is why they put Trauma in the game. People arguing the expertise scaling for healers tend to leave out Trauma, and also leave out the fact that power/base stat give more of a benefit to damage than to healing.
  21. Most people don't know the skill because there are not a lot of sniper/GS around in the first place and even fewer play 31 pt eng/sab in PVP. I have yet to see it utilized, and I would have though that skill would have counted as a DoT for cap purposes.
  22. Thread #1247 on altering class abilities in Huttball. L2P, L2lookatfrontpage, L2usesearchfunction.
  23. AoE damage > AoE healing. The issue with multiple healers versus multiple dps is one of coordination. You need more coordination on the DPS part to deal with multiple healers, in terms of CC and interrupt rotation. Thus in a PUG situation (which the vast majority of people seem to play in) multiple healers are much stronger.
  24. What class has a 5 second stun? All I see is 4 second stuns. 2.5 seconds will only give you 1 second of additional time on the target (because the stun will activate your 1.5 sec GCD), so not even a full GCD. 2.5 second stuns work for an AOE stun because you are making multiple people lose GCDs. You might have a point if classes had different stun capabilities. But every single class in the game has a 4 second stun. Then classes have different mez capabilities (with vanguard/PT getting the aoe stun).
  25. It is the TOS/Rules of Conduct. The policies are purposely broad so that they can ban you for almost anything. They will never come out and say these are the X number of words you can't say in SW:TOR. It will be a case-by-case thing, and having a history of improper conduct (as your friend did) weighs against you. So, the thing he did might not have crossed the ban line for a first time offender did for a repeat offender. They will not ban you for calling someone bad in /say. But hit race/religion/etc. and they will probably drop the hammer.
