Change Alliance Crates and Specialists, please. Remove rng from said crates.

Currently Alliance crates drop old gear shells when you cash them in after doing heroics.

 

I know some people dont care at all for this cosmetic gear, but some of us do. Particularly, i love all the "Underworld" labeled gear, though there are other sets which are quite nice too.

 

However, so far it's been impossible to collect the Underworld sets. Seriously, it's like those are the rarest sets, or my luck truly sucks.

 

What im proposing is, make Alliance Specialists (Ogurobb etc) give you tokens when you turn in the crates you got via heroics. Then you can use those tokens in the proper vendor in order to buy the specific parts of the sets that you are lacking ,or you want. The vendors could offer the complete sets for each of the classes, and then you just directly choose what you want.

 

We already have enough rng in the game with GC, please remove this rng, this items are purely cosmetic shells, and some of us like to collect, complete the sets and actually use them. Would this be that hard to make?

I have all of the sets completed - BUT - I have many, many (so many) characters with maxed out Alliance Specialists so, yeah it took awhile. I don't recall that any set was more rare than another though. However, having "Alliance Tokens" that you could use to buy any of the cosmetic armor, vehicles, Planetary Display decos, would be nice and less frustrating. Maybe then my friend could finally get the Tattooine display. Seriously, I maxed all four specialists on two characters, from level 3 to 20 (so that's approximately 80 crates per specialists per character - so almost 640 crates) and did not get even one Tattooine display.

That would actually be pretty amazing - good idea. It would work for the decos, etc. too. I am still missing one of the planetary displays after opening about a gazillion crates. I know the randomness is supposed to be part of the fun, so maybe they'd want to keep something in it random, but it would also be nice to complete certain sets of armor and decos.

And how would my legacy storage toon make credits this way, eh? She sells all the duplicates .... there have been a few .... :p

 

I'm still missing about 8 pieces in total for all the sets, it's beyond frustrating because I intended to augment those sets and place all the old set bonus gear for the period the sets relate to (for levelling toons past 50, because up to 50 they can use one of 5 DvL sets every 9 levels or so).

 

So yes, I think this is a good idea and overdue, it's time to remove some RNG from the game, this is a good way to start.

I'm going to chime in and agree with this as well. As far as the armor sets go, it's just not fun anymore. All I seem to ever get is stuff I've gotten a ton of already, that is good for nothing but selling to the vendors. I gave up a while back and just sold all the armor I had been hoarding, it just didn't feel worth it anymore.

Bioware's simplest least-cost answer would be to remove legacy gear from the alliance crates. Problem solved, no more RNG, and personally, I'd rather have the legacy gear to swap between my toons than none at all.

 

Careful what you wish for.

There is already enough legacy gear in the game to accomplish for instance what you said. There's a legacy gear vendor in the fleet, it sells like 2 sets for each class, all the legacy gear you may want.

 

The alliance crates accomplish 2 things, imo: first they provide best quality companion gifts at the cost of such gifts being rng-dependant, which im fine with, and second they provide cosmetic gear, the mentioned gear.

 

The fact that such gear is legacy is so cool ofc, being able to dress your toons the way you want is awesome. But as i stated and others agree previously, there is enough rng in the game.

 

Im no developer, i wont presume knowing how much effort that would cost, but intuitively it doesnt seem much complicated. Place 4 vendors, each one of them with the gear sets for Knight/Warrior, Consular/Inquisitor, etc.

 

Alliance Specialists now reward alliance tokens, which can be used to purchase the cosmetic gear you want. I'd say it's a change many players would welcome, as seen by the positive response this thread has gotten.

 

For instance, i managed to get the Underworld Chest, Belt and Headgear for my Warrior, but it's just impossible to get the Gloves, Boots and Legplates. Similar cases with my Trooper, Agent and such, and so far i only managed to pull the Belt of the Underworld Inquisitor set, only the belt.

 

Those are just cosmetic shells. Why screw people when something that simple can be satisfactory for many of us who like collecting said gear sets?

I opened a total of 50~ crates. I only got the wrists from the Underworld Inquisitor set. The wirsts.

 

Currently i have the wrists, legs and belt. No way, there's just no way i get the chestpiece and headgear. Please BW make these Specialists give us tokens so that we can obtain the cosmetic shells we are still lacking. Make it happen please.

Or make them tradeable. I can never get the belt to the Underworld Inquisitor set.

As it is right now, it's extremely hard to complete the sets. I currently have something like 3-4 completed sets, and there is a total of 40 different sets.

 

The problem is most of the time i seem to only get pieces i already have, like i have 3 out of 7 pieces of a set, and if i manage to pull a piece from said set, it's a piece i already have.

 

Either Specialists should give tokens, or at least remove the chance to get duplicate pieces so that you know sooner or later you WILL complete all the sets.

 

Seriously there's enough rng in the game. Removing the rng from this small bit of the game wont hurt anyone, and it will make a bunch of ppl happy.

I've been farming these crates for this last 5 days, focusing specially on Alien and Military crates. I just dont know how many of them i've opened these days, i've lost count.

 

The Remnant Underworld gear just wont drop. There's no chance for me to complete my Inquisitor and Warrior Underworld sets, the ones i'm most interested on. There's no way.

 

Could this feedback at least be passed on so that they consider removing the rng from these crates so that we can complete these cosmetics shells with less of a grind? Please?
